:00:00. > :00:10.Hi, I'm Leah with another update. Stay tuned for escaped chickens,
:00:11. > :00:16.and... Stick with us for more on the Time Lord's new look.
:00:17. > :00:21.First, one of the biggest countries in Europe, Ukraine, is in crisis, as
:00:22. > :00:24.violent protests there continue. They started in the capital city,
:00:25. > :00:28.Kiev, in November last year but have become more extreme in the past
:00:29. > :00:33.week, with some protesters taking over government buildings. You can
:00:34. > :00:36.see here how the unrest has now spread to other towns and cities
:00:37. > :00:39.across the country. The protests began because officials wouldn't
:00:40. > :00:41.sign a deal bringing the country closer to the European Union,
:00:42. > :00:46.choosing stronger ties with Russia instead. Then the government
:00:47. > :00:51.introduced controversial anti-protest laws and the clashes
:00:52. > :00:54.got worse. Now the president has made an offer to reverse the
:00:55. > :00:59.anti-protest law if demonstrators clear the streets and leave
:01:00. > :01:03.government buildings. There's going to be a vote on it but it's not yet
:01:04. > :01:07.clear whether other politicians will support it. Now to the Somerset
:01:08. > :01:11.Levels in South West England, underwater since Christmas and now,
:01:12. > :01:14.to make matters worse, more rain is expected today across Southern
:01:15. > :01:18.England and Scotland. England currently has 14 flood warnings in
:01:19. > :01:24.place, ten of which are in the south west. There are three flood warnings
:01:25. > :01:26.in Scotland. We want to hear if you've been affected by the
:01:27. > :01:30.flooding. Have you had trouble getting to and from school, or are
:01:31. > :01:35.there flood waters near your house? Head online and let us know. As well
:01:36. > :01:39.as rain, there could be snow across parts of the UK this week too. Over
:01:40. > :01:43.in America snow can be a major problem in winter, with many schools
:01:44. > :01:46.having to close. Now a study has found that shutting schools because
:01:47. > :01:49.of snow doesn't have an impact on how well kids do. The Harvard
:01:50. > :01:52.University team looked at seven years of data.
:01:53. > :01:58.Next, to a campaign to make people, and you guys in particular, more
:01:59. > :02:01.aware about the need to be safe near level crossings. Network Rail say
:02:02. > :02:05.they've reached their target early, of closing off 750 crossings, making
:02:06. > :02:15.them safer. And as I've been finding out they want to close another 500
:02:16. > :02:19.more in the next five years. When it comes to level crossings, just like
:02:20. > :02:24.this one, there's always the risk of an accident, when a road, footpath
:02:25. > :02:29.or cycleway crosses the tracks. And somebody will always try to beat the
:02:30. > :02:34.barrier. So in 2010, Network Rail set itself the target of closing 10%
:02:35. > :02:41.of Britain's rail crossings by April this year. They've closed 766 so
:02:42. > :02:46.far, ahead of schedule. Level crossings are dangerous because
:02:47. > :02:54.trains move very fast, often 100 mph or more, and they are also very
:02:55. > :02:57.quiet. So you think you've got plenty of time but you don't really.
:02:58. > :03:00.The only true safe level crossing is one that doesn't exist. Network Rail
:03:01. > :03:03.says it spent ?130 million in the last few years improving level
:03:04. > :03:07.crossing safety. Part of that money was spent on making adverts. Despite
:03:08. > :03:12.the safety improvements, ten people were killed on level crossings last
:03:13. > :03:17.year. The easiest way to stay safe on a level crossing is to know where
:03:18. > :03:21.you are. A lot of people have headphones in, listening to their
:03:22. > :03:25.music or text in their friends. They are not really sure of where they
:03:26. > :03:29.are. If you can really keep an eye out when you are at a level crossing
:03:30. > :03:34.and know what you are doing, stop text in, look left and right and
:03:35. > :03:37.crossover as safely and quickly as you can. Even though they've reached
:03:38. > :03:42.their target and more ahead of schedule, Network Rail say they want
:03:43. > :03:45.to close another 500 of these over the next five years. Because they
:03:46. > :03:48.hope that will mean many more lives are saved. In sport, Manchester
:03:49. > :03:51.United's record signing Juan Mata reckons they can still win the
:03:52. > :03:55.Premier League. The Spanish star joined United from Chelsea last
:03:56. > :03:58.week, in a ?37 million deal. He's straight into the squad for
:03:59. > :04:08.tonight's game against Cardiff, where he could play alongside Wayne
:04:09. > :04:12.Rooney, who's back from injury. I think if our club would be in this
:04:13. > :04:15.position in the league, it would be very difficult for them to come back
:04:16. > :04:18.and take it to the first position. I think this club always can do it
:04:19. > :04:22.because this club is used to fighting to the end and getting the
:04:23. > :04:28.results they want until the end, with character and fighting on the
:04:29. > :04:31.pitch. This is the real image I have from Man United. Now, you've heard
:04:32. > :04:35.of a wild goose chase, well, the weekend saw more of a chicken chase,
:04:36. > :04:38.after a truck loaded with about 3,000 chickens turned over on a
:04:39. > :04:42.motorway in south west China. The birds made a bid for freedom from
:04:43. > :04:45.their cages and ran around all over the road, through the bushes and
:04:46. > :04:48.into the hills beyond. Traffic police had quite a job trying to
:04:49. > :04:52.collect them all up again. No-one was hurt though. Doctor Who fans get
