:00:20. > :00:25.Hello! You have got two of us. Ore and Leah here for you in the

:00:25. > :00:31.Newsround studio today. Stick around for this. The boy battered

:00:31. > :00:35.by the tail of a whale. And we talk about the campaign to stop rain

:00:35. > :00:39.forest materials being used in toy packaging.

:00:39. > :00:43.First, to the news that will affect millions of you - the teachers'

:00:43. > :00:47.strike. They have had the desperate last-minute talks to try to stop it,

:00:47. > :00:50.but it looks like the strike will be going ahead. Not all teachers

:00:50. > :00:58.are involved, but lots of schools are expected have to close for a

:00:58. > :01:03.day later this week. I have been looking into it.

:01:03. > :01:07.Thousands of classrooms across the country could be quiet this

:01:07. > :01:11.Thursday. No teachers means no lessons and lots of you will have

:01:12. > :01:16.the day off whether you want one or not. Lots of teachers are set to go

:01:16. > :01:20.on strike. They are angry about changes the government is planning

:01:20. > :01:24.to make to the amount of money they will get when they retire. Many say

:01:24. > :01:29.they do not want to walk out of school but it is the only way of

:01:29. > :01:34.getting the government to listen to them. I certainly do not want to go

:01:34. > :01:39.on strike. It is our last-resort. The government are not listening to

:01:39. > :01:45.us. Parents have different opinions. It will be a hassle for the parents

:01:45. > :01:50.who have to work with some having to take a day off. It means I will

:01:51. > :01:55.have to get childcare. I think the teachers have got a point. I feel

:01:55. > :01:59.sympathy for them but it does not help me because I will not get paid

:01:59. > :02:06.on Thursday either. The government has asked all strikers to

:02:06. > :02:11.reconsider. I would say to you, the strikes are wrong, for you, for the

:02:11. > :02:15.people you serve, for the good of the country. Some schools are

:02:15. > :02:19.expected to stay open on Thursday and there may even be parents

:02:19. > :02:23.covering in some classrooms. Unless the government and some teachers

:02:23. > :02:26.come to an agreement soon, there are likely to be more strikes in

:02:26. > :02:30.the future. Next, an animal charity is warning

:02:30. > :02:34.people not to leave dogs and parked cars after the death of two police

:02:34. > :02:38.dogs. An investigation has begun into the deaths of the dogs which

:02:38. > :02:41.were left in a car at a police training centre in Kent. The Dogs

:02:41. > :02:44.Trust charity has said nobody should leave their dog in a vehicle,

:02:44. > :02:49.especially during a heatwave. Lions, tigers, sharks, even an

:02:49. > :02:52.angry hippo - all animals you would not mess with. But on your list of

:02:52. > :02:55.dangerous animals, you probably would not have a humpback whale.

:02:55. > :02:58.Well, maybe it is time to rethink that list, because a boy in

:02:58. > :03:08.Australia is recovering after a meeting with the whale that was

:03:08. > :03:08.

:03:08. > :03:14.little too close for comfort. 13-year-old Drew Hall is one lucky

:03:14. > :03:18.boy. Nursing a broken bone in his shoulder, he is on the mend after a

:03:18. > :03:24.run-in with one of the giants of the sea. Drew was out fishing with

:03:24. > :03:28.his mum and dad. In this area of Australia, they are used to seeing

:03:28. > :03:32.humpback whales but went one appeared next to Drew's boat,

:03:32. > :03:38.disaster struck. The tail came down and hit everyone and smashed the

:03:38. > :03:43.boat. The tail landed untrue and badly damaged the boat. The race

:03:43. > :03:47.was on to get him to shore when an ambulance was waiting. Usually,

:03:47. > :03:52.humpback whales are friendly towards humans. Experts do not

:03:52. > :03:56.think it was intentional but the giant creature could have become

:03:56. > :04:00.frightened and panicked. Humpback whales have huge tails which can

:04:00. > :04:06.propel them out of the water. With some of them measuring the size of

:04:06. > :04:12.a bus, this combination of size and power means getting on the wrong

:04:12. > :04:17.side of a waving tail is a bad idea. For true, as soon as the bone heals,

:04:17. > :04:20.all he wants to do is get back out and go fishing.

:04:20. > :04:25.Next, to the toys that are damaging the environment, and no, that is

:04:25. > :04:28.not the main story line for Toy Story 4! We have heard that toys

:04:28. > :04:32.like Barbie and Lego could have paper packaging made from trees in

:04:32. > :04:41.a rain forest that is home to endangered tigers and orang-utans.

:04:41. > :04:48.Ricky has got the details. This is some of the last remaining

:04:48. > :04:57.rainforest in Indonesia. It is also home to the critically endangered

:04:57. > :05:01.Sumatran Tiger. Other endangered wildlife like elephants also live

:05:02. > :05:06.here. But campaigners say these forests are being cleared by

:05:06. > :05:10.loggers. It is claimed that the pulp from the wood is used in the

:05:10. > :05:15.paper which wraps some of the toy is week by here back in the UK.

:05:15. > :05:20.Greenpeace, which campaigns for the Environment, tested the packaging

:05:20. > :05:25.for popular toys and say they found traces of wood fibres from

:05:25. > :05:30.rainforest in Indonesia. We found what was coming from Indonesia's

:05:30. > :05:33.rainforest and that was going to companies which was turning the

:05:33. > :05:37.wood into paper and packaging and supplying that to some of the

:05:37. > :05:43.world's most well known toy companies. These products are

:05:43. > :05:47.shipped around the world and sold in our shops. The the way we have

:05:47. > :05:51.proved their using rainforest in their packaging is by having them

:05:51. > :05:55.tested by scientists and scientists found there were would species

:05:55. > :06:00.coming from Indonesia's rainforests. Campaigners are putting pressure on

:06:00. > :06:04.some of the toy companies out there. They want to make sure packaging

:06:04. > :06:08.has made from recycled material and sourced in the right way.

:06:08. > :06:11.We got in contact with all the manufacturers. Mattel, which makes

:06:11. > :06:15.Barbie and also Lego have told us that they are looking at the paper

:06:15. > :06:18.they use so that they do not harm the environment. Hasbro who make

:06:18. > :06:22.Transformers and My Little Pony has said it will make sure that paper

:06:22. > :06:25.from the rain forest is not used in its packaging. And Disney also told

:06:25. > :06:28.us that looking after nature is their top priority. Newsround, once

:06:28. > :06:31.again, get to the bottom of the story!

:06:31. > :06:35.Now, just in case you missed it, here are some pictures from Blue

:06:35. > :06:39.Peter's latest record attempt today. Hundreds of people broke the record

:06:39. > :06:42.for the most hula-hoopers in one place. It was all to celebrate Blue

:06:42. > :06:51.Peter's last show made here in London after more than 50 years.

:06:52. > :06:59.Along with the rest of CBBC, it is moving to a new home in Salford.

:06:59. > :07:02.More than 50 years is a long time. Yep, when they started TV was black

:07:02. > :07:07.and white. Can you imagine everything on TV being black and

:07:07. > :07:10.white? I think it's better now - but Blue Peter have done loads of

:07:10. > :07:15.shows and had dozens of animals in their London studio over the years.

:07:15. > :07:18.We couldn't resist quickly showing you these pictures. Have a look at

:07:18. > :07:22.the misbehaving elephant who made a mess of the studio - a load of

:07:22. > :07:25.unruly dogs. And some angry cats who weren't very pleased to see

:07:25. > :07:28.each other. Let's finish with tennis and if

:07:28. > :07:32.you're an Andy Murray fan, you decide whether this is good news or

:07:32. > :07:39.bad. Because if he gets to the semi-final of Wimbledon, it does

:07:39. > :07:45.look like he'll play world number one Rafael Nadal! The Spaniard

:07:45. > :07:49.injured his foot yesterday put in his match against the American

:07:49. > :07:55.Mardy Fish in doubt but he has had a scan and he is ready to play
