:00:31. > :00:35.But they're very happy with their groups of friends, their family,
:00:36. > :00:40.The welfare of 16,000 kids was examined by the Children's Society
:00:41. > :00:44.in 11 countries including Brazil, Romania and South Africa.
:00:45. > :00:48.We asked Lily Caprani to tell us more.
:00:49. > :00:50.We have been studying children's well-being,
:00:51. > :00:54.and when we talk about that, we mean asking thousands of children
:00:55. > :00:59.what it is about their lives that makes them good lives or not.
:01:00. > :01:02.Whether or not they have good hopes for the future or what kind
:01:03. > :01:11.of things make them feel bad about their lives.
:01:12. > :01:14.It is surprising that England is a country where we have quite good
:01:15. > :01:17.money and houses and schools and health but what we have found when
:01:18. > :01:21.we asked children what they feel, is that they don't do well compared to
:01:22. > :01:23.other countries even though some of those countries are a lot poorer.
:01:24. > :01:25.Sometimes children in poorer countries are happier.
:01:26. > :01:28.When we find out what that is about, we discover it is friendships,
:01:29. > :01:31.There are other things that matter to children
:01:32. > :01:36.One of the real problems is that they worry about how they look.
:01:37. > :01:39.Especially if they think people are judging them or are going to bully
:01:40. > :01:47.English children generally say they are happiest when they have good,
:01:48. > :01:49.loving, supportive relationships, and that includes Mum and Dad,
:01:50. > :01:54.brothers, sisters and friends at school.

:02:09. > :02:11.Wayne Rooney's the favourite to be named as the new England Captain,

:02:17. > :02:23.Next, the seven-year-old who's very popular around the globe.
:02:24. > :02:26.Josh, who's got leukemia, has received over 2,000 postcards from
:02:27. > :02:36.Ricky went to meet him to find out more.
:02:37. > :02:50.Over the summer, the seven-year-old has received almost 2,000 postcards
:02:51. > :03:01.This is from America, this is from Japan, this is from Australia.
:03:02. > :03:03.Earlier this year, Josh was diagnosed with leukaemia,
:03:04. > :03:09.The medicine has made him quite tired.
:03:10. > :03:12.Since March, he has not been able to attend
:03:13. > :03:15.school but he was given homework for the holidays and asked to write
:03:16. > :03:19.about his summer break and send a postcard from wherever he went.
:03:20. > :03:23.But his cancer treatment meant the family had to cancel their holiday.
:03:24. > :03:25.With the thought of having to spend the rest of
:03:26. > :03:34.the summer at home or at hospital, Josh's parents came up with a plan.
:03:35. > :03:38.We came up with the suggestion from a friend who is a blogger
:03:39. > :03:40.and on Tuesday morning, 30 postcards came through
:03:41. > :03:47.Everyday, between 50 and 100 postcards are delivered and they are
:03:48. > :03:54.New Zealand, China, Greenland, Afghanistan.
:03:55. > :04:15.It has kept us all busy because we have all been involved
:04:16. > :04:17.with the postcards, putting them on the map and everything else.
:04:18. > :04:20.We have really, really enjoyed ourselves.
:04:21. > :04:23.The project has kept the whole family busy,
:04:24. > :04:36.Now, this dog in California is a record-breaker.
:04:37. > :04:39.Jiff, a Pomeranian, is the fastest on two legs and runs ten metres
:04:40. > :04:43.on his back legs in six and a half seconds and walks five metres on his
:04:44. > :04:55.He can ride a skateboard and is an internet hit.
:04:56. > :05:01.He gets lots of attention when he walks up and
:05:02. > :05:04.He gets lots of attention when he independent and has a lot of
:05:05. > :05:06.incredible talents but sometimes he just likes a good run in the park.
