0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hi, I'm Martin with your Bank holiday Monday Newsround.
0:00:06 > 0:00:08On the way...
0:00:08 > 0:00:11We meet the kids taking part in one of the world's
0:00:11 > 0:00:12largest street festivals.
0:00:12 > 0:00:22And find out what happens next...
0:00:24 > 0:00:26But first, almost 2,000 people have had to be rescued in the
0:00:26 > 0:00:30city of Houston in the United States because of terrible flooding.
0:00:30 > 0:00:33Parts of the city have had more than 75 centimetres
0:00:33 > 0:00:36of rain over the weekend, and many residents have had to be
0:00:36 > 0:00:39rescued by boat or helicopter.
0:00:39 > 0:00:43The flooding comes after Hurricane Harvey hit over the weekend.
0:00:43 > 0:00:46The winds have now died down but the rain keeps falling
0:00:46 > 0:00:52and is expected to make flooding worse over the next few days.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54Next, we all love to see footballers showing of some silky tricks
0:00:54 > 0:00:57to run past players.
0:00:57 > 0:01:00You don't see many goal keepers doing it though.
0:01:00 > 0:01:01Maybe this is why.
0:01:01 > 0:01:02Take a wee look at Ross County
0:01:02 > 0:01:04goalkeeper Scott Fox during a Scottish Premier League
0:01:04 > 0:01:05match against Rangers.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08He does really well with this little shuffle to beat
0:01:08 > 0:01:09the striker, but...
0:01:09 > 0:01:11Oh, dear.
0:01:11 > 0:01:13There's a huge street party happening in London.
0:01:13 > 0:01:15It's called Notting Hill Carnival.
0:01:15 > 0:01:18And, as usual, Ayshah's in the middle of it.
0:01:18 > 0:01:21She sent us this...
0:01:21 > 0:01:26Start the music, bring on the costumes and the food,
0:01:26 > 0:01:29because it's Europe's biggest street party.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31Newsrounders, welcome to Carnival.
0:01:31 > 0:01:33Carnival!
0:01:33 > 0:01:38It's a festival that takes place every year in this area of London
0:01:38 > 0:01:42and it's been happening since way back in the 1960s.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45It started as a way for people from the Caribbean
0:01:45 > 0:01:50community to get together and celebrate their culture.
0:01:50 > 0:01:52This year is a bit different.
0:01:52 > 0:01:58A minute's silence is taking place on both days to remember the victims
0:01:58 > 0:02:00of the Grenfell Tower fire.
0:02:00 > 0:02:04That's because the carnival is held in the same area.
0:02:04 > 0:02:07On Sunday, after the silence, the crowd started clapping
0:02:07 > 0:02:16for the fire officers.
0:02:16 > 0:02:20I've come here to see this float being put together.
0:02:20 > 0:02:23Kids who go to school around Grenfell have drawn
0:02:23 > 0:02:26all of these pictures.
0:02:26 > 0:02:28It's rather creative and I think it's a good idea that
0:02:28 > 0:02:32we've used the drawings.
0:02:32 > 0:02:34It brings positivity.
0:02:34 > 0:02:40I think it's kind of a time where everyone can show their emotions
0:02:40 > 0:02:47through drawings and just dance and be themselves.
0:02:47 > 0:02:51So it's time for Carnival 2017 and I joined in with these guys
0:02:51 > 0:02:54before they hit the streets.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57They do this every year and every year makes it more exciting.
0:02:57 > 0:02:59Lots of people dancing and stuff, having the
0:02:59 > 0:03:01time of their lives.
0:03:01 > 0:03:02What costume have you got?
0:03:02 > 0:03:08It's a raptor and we're both raptors.
0:03:08 > 0:03:11My favourite thing about Carnival is dressing up.
0:03:11 > 0:03:15We like the dancing and the costumes and the parade.
0:03:15 > 0:03:20Carnival!
0:03:20 > 0:03:24Rapper Kendrick Lamar won six prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards
0:03:24 > 0:03:25in the US last night.
0:03:25 > 0:03:28He won Best Video Of The Year for Humble,
0:03:28 > 0:03:32as well as best hip-hop artist, at the awards ceremony
0:03:32 > 0:03:33in Los Angeles.
0:03:33 > 0:03:36Ed Sheeran - who won artist of the year -
0:03:36 > 0:03:38also performed, but Taylor Swift gave the awards a miss.
0:03:38 > 0:03:42The show was hosted by Katy Perry, who wrapped up the evening
0:03:42 > 0:03:48by performing her hit single Swish Swish with Nicki Minaj.
0:03:48 > 0:03:51Now, how often do you get to see amazing animals up close?
0:03:51 > 0:03:54Well, a TV team have spent a whole year capturing
0:03:54 > 0:03:58life on the Himalayas, Rockies and Andes mountain ranges.
0:03:58 > 0:04:02Jenny spoke to two of the producers of the series which is called
0:04:02 > 0:04:05Life at the Extreme.
0:04:05 > 0:04:09Mountain specialists, thick fur to tackle the cold
0:04:09 > 0:04:17and large lungs for the thin air and huge paws to spread their weight
0:04:17 > 0:04:20as they navigate the cliffs.
0:04:20 > 0:04:22What can we expect from Life At The Extreme?
0:04:22 > 0:04:24The best animals in the world.
0:04:24 > 0:04:27These are the animals that live high up in the greatest mountains
0:04:27 > 0:04:31of the world and they're really, really strange
0:04:31 > 0:04:32and crazy looking animals.
0:04:32 > 0:04:34So there's some of our favourites, like snow leopards,
0:04:34 > 0:04:37that Alex was filming, and cougars and grizzly bears,
0:04:37 > 0:04:39but also quite a lot of weird and wonderful animals,
0:04:39 > 0:04:42like the shape-shifting frogs that live in the Andes that can
0:04:42 > 0:04:45change their shape from one thing to another and we've got
0:04:45 > 0:04:47little humming birds and, my favourite, we've got a salamander
0:04:47 > 0:04:52which turns into a cannibal and eats its brothers and sisters.
0:04:52 > 0:04:54Very exciting.
0:04:54 > 0:04:55It must have been quite tricky though.
0:04:55 > 0:04:56What were the biggest challenges?
0:04:56 > 0:04:59You can see something over on another mountain,
0:04:59 > 0:05:03but to get to it, you've got to go all the way back down again and then
0:05:03 > 0:05:07all the way back up the other one if you're going to get close.
0:05:07 > 0:05:09And who knows whether it's still going to be there
0:05:09 > 0:05:11by the time you get there.
0:05:11 > 0:05:17And tiny hooks on his feet help grip as he leaps from rock to rock.
0:05:17 > 0:05:21Alex had to hire a bunch of yaks to move all the kit
0:05:21 > 0:05:23around in the Andes, they had to hire horses
0:05:23 > 0:05:25and they carry all the stuff around.
0:05:25 > 0:05:27There aren't roads up these places.
0:05:27 > 0:05:30You either stick the stuff on your back or you find some
0:05:30 > 0:05:32friendly animal who can carry the stuff for you.
0:05:32 > 0:05:34You've got very cool jobs.
0:05:34 > 0:05:36What advice have you got for Newsround viewers who might
0:05:36 > 0:05:40want to do the same?
0:05:40 > 0:05:42Love wildlife, watch wildlife TV programmes and get out
0:05:42 > 0:05:49and about and start watching wildlife around where you live.
0:05:49 > 0:05:54That's all from me, Newsround's back this afternoon so I'll see you then.
0:05:54 > 0:05:59Bye.
