0:00:02 > 0:00:03Good morning.

0:00:03 > 0:00:05It's me, Hayley, with this morning's news.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08Coming up in the next few minutes.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11Could our puffins be endangered?

0:00:11 > 0:00:14And can you help save our bees?

0:00:23 > 0:00:27First, we're heading to the United States where everyone

0:00:27 > 0:00:28is talking about who might be the next leader of the country.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Americans will vote for their new President in November,

0:00:33 > 0:00:37but there's one person who is making all the headlines at the moment,

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Donald Trump.

0:00:39 > 0:00:40Here's why.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Who is Donald Trump?

0:00:42 > 0:00:45He's one of America's most famous businessmen.

0:00:45 > 0:00:46Now he's trying to become the next

0:00:46 > 0:00:49President of the United States of America.

0:00:49 > 0:00:50You're fired.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52OK. Go.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55Up until this US election, he was mostly known for being

0:00:55 > 0:00:59a reality TV star on the American version of The Apprentice.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01If you want to fire me go right ahead.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04All right, Gene, you're fired.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07But now he has a serious chance of being the next President

0:01:07 > 0:01:10and that's attracting huge attention from around the world.

0:01:10 > 0:01:14That's because of the things he says which are controversial.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17He's been tough on immigration and wants to build a wall

0:01:17 > 0:01:21between America and Mexico to stop illegal immigrants from getting in.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24I would build a great wall and nobody builds walls better

0:01:24 > 0:01:26than me, believe me.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30He's also called for a ban on Muslims coming into the US.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Trump's message, to make America great again,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35has gone down well with lots of voters and they think he's

0:01:35 > 0:01:37a strong leader.

0:01:37 > 0:01:44But other people are worried, saying Trump is racist and dangerous.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Now there's been violence at some of his big events with clashes

0:01:47 > 0:01:51breaking out between protesters and his supporters.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53Donald Trump's opponents say that he said things

0:01:53 > 0:01:54to encourage violence.

0:01:54 > 0:01:59He says he hasn't.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01A lot of people are worried that this year's election

0:02:01 > 0:02:05will divide the USA.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07There's loads on the US presidential contest online,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10including more about everyone still in the race to become

0:02:10 > 0:02:18the next US President.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21Next, you might not be a fan of creepy crawlies but insects

0:02:21 > 0:02:24are essential to the planet's survival.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27Numbers are decreasing but now there is a new project that's hoping

0:02:27 > 0:02:32to get you involved in saving them.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35Insects like these aren't just nice to look at.

0:02:35 > 0:02:39They also do a very special job called pollination.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41The busy insects are attracted to the flowers which contain

0:02:41 > 0:02:44the delicious nectar they like to eat.

0:02:44 > 0:02:48Pollen rubs off on to them and they carry it from plant

0:02:48 > 0:02:53to plant helping them to reproduce and create seeds.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57But the numbers of these pollinating insects have been decreasing.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01The big threat to the pollinating insects has been the loss

0:03:01 > 0:03:06of habitat, the loss of homes for nature.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09That has proved changes in farming which has had more chemicals

0:03:09 > 0:03:13and less space for wildlife to flourish because they need

0:03:13 > 0:03:17to create more and more crop on the same amount of ground.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20Without insects like butterflies and bumblebees, a lot of the plants

0:03:20 > 0:03:23would no longer exist and this could have a big impact

0:03:23 > 0:03:27on the environment, animals and even on us.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31Now a special scheme has been set up to teach us how to look

0:03:31 > 0:03:33after these important creatures.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36So the Pollination Project wants you guys to learn more

0:03:36 > 0:03:39about pollinating insects plus planting more seeds

0:03:39 > 0:03:41which will create more flowers for them.

0:03:41 > 0:03:45They also want you to keep a log of all the insects that you see

0:03:45 > 0:03:47in your schools and local areas.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49If there weren't any pollinators like bees,

0:03:49 > 0:03:52butterflies and beetles, then there wouldn't be any flowers

0:03:52 > 0:03:58because they take pollen to the next flowers to make more flowers.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00When I found out how important pollen was,

0:04:00 > 0:04:04it was a real big shock to me because it makes the world as pretty

0:04:04 > 0:04:08as it is now and it produces food for us.

0:04:08 > 0:04:13If we don't think about it, we will struggle to improve our environment.

0:04:13 > 0:04:18So far, 260 schools across the UK have already signed up and it's

0:04:18 > 0:04:25hoped that, with their help, insect numbers will increase.

0:04:25 > 0:04:30Finally, experts are keeping a very close on these birds this year.

0:04:30 > 0:04:34Puffins are now considered a threatened species,

0:04:34 > 0:04:37which means their numbers are getting dangerously low.

0:04:37 > 0:04:41So this year a big count is under way to try to work out how

0:04:41 > 0:04:42many are left.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45It's hoped that by keeping an eye on the birds,

0:04:45 > 0:04:48experts can work out how to help them.

0:04:48 > 0:04:49That's all from me.

0:04:49 > 0:04:53Newsround's back right here in about half an hour.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55Bye!
