:00:57. > :01:07.The decision taken has been reversed by this referendum to leave the EU.

:01:08. > :01:11.Following the referendum, we face a time of great national change.

:01:18. > :01:22.through which the United Kingdom will leave European Union.

:01:23. > :01:30.Well, for a country to leave the EU, the prime minister of that

:01:31. > :01:33.country has to do something called triggering Article 50.

:01:34. > :01:36.It's just a complicated way of saying the UK's prime minister,

:01:37. > :01:39.Theresa May, will officially tell the rest of the EU that the UK

:01:40. > :01:45.She's signed a letter that will be handed over at this building

:01:46. > :01:54.round about the time you're eating your school dinner.

:01:55. > :01:59.Politicians have two years to come up with a plan as to how the UK will

:02:00. > :02:04.leave and how it will carry on working with the EU. Let us find out

:02:05. > :02:06.a bit more about Article 50. Article 50 is the name

:02:07. > :02:08.of an agreement between members of a club of countries called

:02:09. > :02:11.the European Union, or EU, which explains how a country

:02:12. > :02:13.can leave this group, The Prime Minister, Theresa May,

:02:14. > :02:18.will activate Article 50 later today, which means the UK

:02:19. > :02:19.will officially be Well, doing this gives the UK

:02:20. > :02:25.and other 27 EU countries, two years to come up with a deal

:02:26. > :02:28.about what sort of relationship the UK will have with

:02:29. > :02:31.the EU in the future. They need to decide rules

:02:32. > :02:34.for things, like buying and selling products to each

:02:35. > :02:36.other and immigration. Once a deal has been made official

:02:37. > :02:40.and approved, then the UK is out. It's a lot to get through in two

:02:41. > :02:43.years so the politicians will be If they decide they need

:02:44. > :02:47.more than two years, then the time limits can be extended

:02:48. > :03:01.but only if everybody agrees. Don't forget there is loads more
