:00:24. > :00:31.Hi guys - Joe here live on BBC Two from the Newsround studio. But I'm

:00:31. > :00:39.not alone - oh no. That's right - Nel here with all the latest from

:00:39. > :00:44.Wimbledon. I will bring you write a date, but first, back to you.

:00:44. > :00:47.who needs a bridge to cross a river, when you can do it in a cable car.

:00:47. > :00:51.First, it's summer but you wouldn't know it. The clean up has begun

:00:51. > :00:54.after parts of the UK were hit by super storms which caused flooding

:00:54. > :00:57.and damage to homes and schools. These are just some of the pictures

:00:57. > :01:01.that have been sent into the BBC. From flooded classrooms in Whitby

:01:01. > :01:04.Bay to golfball-sized hail stones in the Midlands. In the Lake

:01:04. > :01:11.District this road temporarily became a river and there was even a

:01:11. > :01:15.tornado spotted in Lincolnshire. The wild weather has meant that

:01:15. > :01:19.loads of you have had the day off school. Izzy and Rotundo made it to

:01:19. > :01:25.school today. And earlier they told me about the damage to their school

:01:25. > :01:35.buildings. We live in the Lake District, so we expect some rain,

:01:35. > :01:36.

:01:36. > :01:41.but it was very heavy. It was leaking. We had leaks in the roof.

:01:41. > :01:48.There were big patches on the City. I now way home, the bus started

:01:48. > :01:50.leaking. I was a little bit scared. But the bus was fine. We've been

:01:50. > :01:54.swamped with your messages about how the weather's affected you. So

:01:54. > :01:57.lets take a look. Emily from Leicestershire got in touch to tell

:01:57. > :02:04.us about the damage to her school hall which scared her and her pet

:02:04. > :02:07.Bad weather too for Claudia in Whitley Bay, her dad had to go and

:02:07. > :02:11.help clean up the flooding at her school. Over in Belfast, Alice's

:02:11. > :02:14.house was hit a power cut after a long thunder and lightning storm.

:02:14. > :02:22.And Maisie's sports day was cancelled in the West Midlands

:02:22. > :02:25.because the rain turned her field So why has the weather been so

:02:25. > :02:32.terrible? I went to talk to the BBC's weather forecaster Simon King

:02:32. > :02:35.to see if he had any answers. Basically, we have had a lot of

:02:36. > :02:41.heat pumping up from near the equator, moving to the UK, it nets

:02:41. > :02:44.and cold air, and that is a recipe to produce severe thunderstorms. We

:02:44. > :02:48.normally get small thunderstorms, but this one in particular has been

:02:48. > :02:53.pretty bad. It is like something you would see in America.

:02:53. > :02:58.Absolutely. I will show you what happened yesterday. This is the

:02:58. > :03:02.rainfall, the blue blocks are just normal showers. As you get the

:03:02. > :03:09.brighter colours, that is showing us really intent showers and

:03:09. > :03:16.thunderstorms. As these showers move through the Midlands, we see

:03:16. > :03:20.them clumping together. That is almost like as super storm in the

:03:20. > :03:26.north-east, it dumped all that rain. We have got the Hale, the Tornados.

:03:26. > :03:30.And of course, the flash floods as well. Are our summers being

:03:30. > :03:35.hijacked by this extreme weather more and more? It might feel like

:03:35. > :03:40.that. The statistics for June have come out, it could be one of the

:03:40. > :03:45.wettest Junes on record. We have had some pretty wet summers in the

:03:45. > :03:49.past, but we cannot save it is a trend, we have to wait and see with

:03:49. > :03:53.that went. Moving on now to a natural disaster of another kind in

:03:53. > :03:57.America. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed by wildfires in the

:03:57. > :04:00.state of Colorado. One person has died and tens of thousands of

:04:00. > :04:03.people have been forced to leave their homes to escape the flames.

:04:03. > :04:12.President Obama is expected to visit the area later today.

:04:12. > :04:17.Time for a bit of sport now, and Nel is at Wimbledon for us. Yes, I

:04:17. > :04:20.have got a great view of some of the Court here at Wimbledon. Behind

:04:21. > :04:27.me, you can probably see Murray Mount, which is heaving with people,

:04:27. > :04:34.as it was yesterday, when they were cheering on Andy Murray to victory.

:04:34. > :04:41.It was quite an easy Mac -- a match for Novak Djokovic. He started off

:04:41. > :04:51.badly, one set down, and then went through against Radek Stepanek.

:04:51. > :04:52.

:04:52. > :04:56.Heather Watene is playing Radwanska, but she is - I'm been joined by

:04:57. > :05:03.someone you might recognise. She is not doing so well against her?

:05:03. > :05:09.Radwanska is seeded No. 3, so it is going to be a tough ask to beat her,

:05:09. > :05:13.because had the what and is ranked 103. -- header Watson. She is the

:05:13. > :05:18.first British woman in 10 years to get to this part of the tournament.

:05:18. > :05:24.She has not had an easy tournament? She has had a rough ride, the

:05:24. > :05:29.players she is up against. But she has won her matches. One of the

:05:29. > :05:33.biggest shock is history, Rafael Nadal being beaten by a player who

:05:33. > :05:37.is 98 players -- places below him in the rankings. This can only be

:05:37. > :05:41.good for Andy Murray? Only if he gets through his next few matches.

:05:41. > :05:46.He was due to meet him in the semi- finals, if he gets through his next

:05:46. > :05:52.couple. He still has to beat Marcos Baghdatis tomorrow. They have only

:05:52. > :06:01.played on grass won't, and Marcos one that one. So great to see such

:06:01. > :06:08.a giant killing, his surname in Czech me -- means Jelly! Who do you

:06:08. > :06:13.expect to win the men's final? could be Federer, Djokovic, Jo-

:06:13. > :06:21.Wilfried Tsonga that... It could be Andy Murray! We are going to enjoy

:06:21. > :06:23.the atmosphere. For now, back to you. Next up, a dazzling display of

:06:24. > :06:26.jewels that's gone on display at Buckingham Palace. The jewellery

:06:26. > :06:29.belonging to the Queen contains thousands of the precious stones

:06:29. > :06:33.and will be on show for everyone to see at Buckingham Palace from

:06:33. > :06:38.tomorrow. It includes the crown the Queen is wearing in her picture on

:06:38. > :06:43.stamps. Visitors to the Olympics in London

:06:43. > :06:46.are being offered a novel way to get from A to B - by using C - a

:06:46. > :06:49.cable car! It opened in London this week and will carry passengers

:06:49. > :06:52.across the River Thames between two of the big Olympic venues, the O2

:06:52. > :06:54.Arena where events including basketball are taking place, and

:06:54. > :07:04.the Excel exhibition centre where athletes will be competing in table

:07:04. > :07:08.

:07:08. > :07:13.We sent Nel to take a closer look. This might look like something you

:07:13. > :07:17.might get in a ski resort, not London town, but I am on board the

:07:17. > :07:23.first cable car in the UK, that will take me from one side of the

:07:23. > :07:28.River Thames to the other. Are you aiming this more at tourists or

:07:28. > :07:32.Londoners? Both. The key message we were to get his this is for

:07:32. > :07:38.everyone. It is a system that is used all around the world in

:07:38. > :07:44.different places. There are three towers, that hold up the line.

:07:44. > :07:47.There are 34 cables at any one time, equivalent to nearly 30 buses. We

:07:47. > :07:52.are really pleased we have been able to have it in place before the

:07:52. > :07:55.Olympics, and we will be pleased to be part of it. It has been one of

:07:55. > :08:00.the best views of London bus stop but I have to say, a little bit

:08:00. > :08:05.scary! Here on Newsround we don't run away from the big questions

:08:05. > :08:08.like, what's quantum physics and is it possible to time travel? We

:08:08. > :08:15.can't answer them ourselves, but scientist Brian Cox can, so we put

:08:15. > :08:21.him and his pal Jeff Forshaw to the test. Here's a taste.

:08:21. > :08:26.Scientists have reported single particles, particles of light, a

:08:26. > :08:33.cross the river Danube in an optical fibre. You destroy it here

:08:33. > :08:43.and it appears, a perfect, identical, not even at a copy, over

:08:43. > :08:44.

:08:44. > :08:46.there. We don't know whether it can Confused? To watch the rest of that
