0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hi, I'm Leah with all of Monday's best stories.
0:00:05 > 0:00:08Coming up on Newsround this afternoon.
0:00:08 > 0:00:13Gobi the wonder dog is reunited with his ultra-marathon owner.
0:00:13 > 0:00:17It's the big final day of the Notting Hill Carnival.
0:00:17 > 0:00:22And forget Rio, Newsround's all about ox racing from now on.
0:00:32 > 0:00:33Meet Gobi the dog.
0:00:33 > 0:00:35She surprised this marathon runner when she randomly started running
0:00:35 > 0:00:39with him, and they became the best of friends.
0:00:39 > 0:00:42But there was a little twist in the tail!
0:00:42 > 0:00:45Naz has more.
0:00:45 > 0:00:49You could say it was love at first stride.
0:00:49 > 0:00:53When Dion Leonard went to China to run a gruelling 150-mile
0:00:53 > 0:00:59marathon, little did he know he would make a friend.
0:00:59 > 0:01:01She ran half the race with me.
0:01:01 > 0:01:04We spent the whole week together and literally either by the side
0:01:04 > 0:01:06running, or in the evening, she was in my arms during the night,
0:01:06 > 0:01:08sleeping and eating with me.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10But there was a little twist in the tail.
0:01:10 > 0:01:15Dion wanted to bring Gobi the dog back home with him to Scotland,
0:01:15 > 0:01:18but first it had to go into Chinese quarantine to make sure
0:01:18 > 0:01:21it was healthy enough to travel.
0:01:21 > 0:01:22But it escaped.
0:01:22 > 0:01:27As Dion loved Gobi so much, he went off to find her.
0:01:27 > 0:01:31First stop, where she was last seen, a busy city with lots of dogs,
0:01:31 > 0:01:34so it was tough.
0:01:34 > 0:01:37I've been out handing these since 6am and actually looking
0:01:37 > 0:01:42around the parks and local areas for the dogs and speaking to locals
0:01:42 > 0:01:44who actually think they have seen Gobi but unfortunately
0:01:44 > 0:01:46it isn't Gobi.
0:01:46 > 0:01:49But then it went viral on social media and before long Dion had some
0:01:49 > 0:01:55leads and Gobi was found.
0:01:55 > 0:01:58This lovely father and son had found her and we went
0:01:58 > 0:01:59out to see her.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01She ran across the land and basically ran
0:02:01 > 0:02:02straight into my arms.
0:02:02 > 0:02:06She was so excited to see me and I had just walked in the door,
0:02:06 > 0:02:09I hadn't said a word to her, so she knew it was me straightaway.
0:02:09 > 0:02:12So Gobi is now finally getting ready to move to Scotland.
0:02:12 > 0:02:16I think the first command Dion will be teaching her...stay!
0:02:18 > 0:02:21It's the final day of London's biggest street party,
0:02:21 > 0:02:24the Notting Hill Carnival, which is celebrating its 50th
0:02:24 > 0:02:26birthday, although some say it's even older.
0:02:26 > 0:02:29Yesterday, on Family Day, children performed in colourful
0:02:29 > 0:02:31costumes, dancing their way through the streets
0:02:31 > 0:02:34to the sound calypso music.
0:02:34 > 0:02:37Every year, more than 1 million people head to west London to enjoy
0:02:37 > 0:02:41two days of partying.
0:02:41 > 0:02:43If you've been out cycling this weekend and fancy hearing
0:02:43 > 0:02:46from a pro in the sport, then this is for you.
0:02:46 > 0:02:49Callum Skinner won a gold and a silver medal in this summer's
0:02:49 > 0:02:52Olympics and now that he's back from Rio.
0:02:52 > 0:02:55Three cycling fans went to meet him to find out what it's
0:02:55 > 0:02:58like being an Olympic cyclist.
0:02:58 > 0:03:00COMMENTATOR: Who is going to claim the gold medal here in Rio?
0:03:00 > 0:03:04Up towards the line and the gold medal goes to Great Britain.
0:03:04 > 0:03:06Have you always wanted to be an Olympic track cyclist?
0:03:06 > 0:03:07Not really.
0:03:07 > 0:03:10I just kind of did lots of sport for fun.
0:03:10 > 0:03:13So I did pretty much everything I could have a go of,
0:03:13 > 0:03:17so I did fencing, badminton, rugby, kayaking even.
0:03:17 > 0:03:19The trick is just to find something you enjoy.
0:03:19 > 0:03:22I'm lucky enough that a hobby has turned into a career
0:03:22 > 0:03:24and it is going pretty well so far.
0:03:24 > 0:03:26Just find something you enjoy and if you love it
0:03:26 > 0:03:27it should go well.
0:03:27 > 0:03:31What is your favourite track event, keirin or sprint?
0:03:31 > 0:03:32The sprint.
0:03:32 > 0:03:34The keirin didn't go too well for me.
0:03:34 > 0:03:37I got disqualified for pulling a bit of a manoeuvre so sprint
0:03:37 > 0:03:38is definitely my favourite.
0:03:38 > 0:03:41What was your first cycling club?
0:03:41 > 0:03:44I started at a club called the Edinburgh Racers,
0:03:44 > 0:03:46which is based at a velodrome called Meadowbank.
0:03:46 > 0:03:50That used to be the only velodrome in the UK and it was outdoors
0:03:50 > 0:03:52so we couldn't use it in the winter.
0:03:52 > 0:03:55The first time I showed up was actually in autumn and they said
0:03:55 > 0:03:58the velodrome is closed for six months so come back later.
0:03:58 > 0:04:01Luckily, there are a lot of tracks now in the UK now you can
0:04:01 > 0:04:02have a go at.
0:04:02 > 0:04:06How many hours a week do you train for?
0:04:06 > 0:04:11We do maybe three full days a week and then the rest are half days.
0:04:11 > 0:04:14We don't actually do that much because the sprinters we only do
0:04:14 > 0:04:18efforts for a few seconds at a time or we are in the gym.
0:04:18 > 0:04:21So they are quite leisurely.
0:04:21 > 0:04:24And if you can't get enough of our chats with all our TeamGB Rio
0:04:24 > 0:04:27heroes, there's loads more to get your teeth into over
0:04:27 > 0:04:33at Newsround online, hope you're feeling inspired!
0:04:33 > 0:04:36Now the Olympics isn't the only sporting event that takes
0:04:36 > 0:04:41place every four years, here's another, less famous one.
0:04:41 > 0:04:43Yes, it's ox racing.
0:04:43 > 0:04:47Thousands of people head to southern Germany to watch the event.
0:04:47 > 0:04:49The race course is a hundred metres long, but the hardest part
0:04:49 > 0:04:53for the riders is trying to stay on the animal!
0:04:53 > 0:04:55That's all from the Newsround team.
0:04:55 > 0:04:58I'll be back first thing tomorrow.
