:00:22. > :00:27.Hi guys. Welcome along, this is Newsround coming right at your face,
:00:27. > :00:31.live right after 5pm. It is Ore and Hayley here. We have packed the
:00:31. > :00:35.next eight minutes full of everything you need to know. Your
:00:35. > :00:40.views have flooded in all day ahead of tomorrow's teachers' strike.
:00:40. > :00:45.Stay tunes to find out what that looks like on this poor hawk's face.
:00:45. > :00:51.But before any of that, we are talking about the award that sport
:00:51. > :00:55.stars up and down the country dream of winning. It's the BBC Sports
:00:55. > :00:59.Personality of the Year award. top ten have been revealed. They
:00:59. > :01:03.include the biggest names in sport such as Andy Murray and Rory
:01:03. > :01:07.McIlroy. For the first time in five years it does not include any women.
:01:07. > :01:14.Some people say that is not fair. Others say it is just a reflection
:01:14. > :01:19.of the sporting year. I have been speaking to one of the people who
:01:19. > :01:24.voted for the short list. Women have not reached as high a standard
:01:24. > :01:29.as men in this country. That is -- I don't understand the reason, but
:01:29. > :01:33.it is a fact. You think men are higher sporting achievers than
:01:33. > :01:39.women? They have a higher profile. That is why they have dominated the
:01:39. > :01:45.list this year. Some say it is to do with the popularity of certain
:01:45. > :01:54.sports. Women's sport, hockey, women's football you don't see that
:01:54. > :01:58.much of. Has that got anything to do with it. Jessica Ennis has
:01:58. > :02:03.reached that high pinnacle of sport on the world stage, which is what
:02:03. > :02:11.the BBC are looking for. Well, that is what he reckons. This
:02:11. > :02:21.year's sports personality, it is fair to say has upset some famous
:02:21. > :02:24.
:02:24. > :02:28.It is a big talking point. We have been joined by BBC reporter Matt
:02:28. > :02:33.Slater. A big year for sport. It's been a fantastic year, thanks to
:02:33. > :02:39.men and women. Why, in your opinion, have we got no women on the list?
:02:39. > :02:45.There is a problem. There is a problem in this country that sport
:02:45. > :02:50.is for boys not girl. Boys go and read about sport. One thing leads
:02:51. > :02:55.on to the other. Women are excluded. The sports editor mentioned it.
:02:55. > :03:00.Profiles - it is a shame. Not only do women make up half the
:03:00. > :03:05.population, we have amazing women sports stars. Is it anything to do
:03:05. > :03:10.with the nominations. They are sports writers - is it fair, it is
:03:10. > :03:15.right? The BBC has gone out to ask experts. These people are editors,
:03:15. > :03:20.from all around the country. We thought it was a good way to do it.
:03:20. > :03:26.This is the first time we haven't had a female nominee. Look,
:03:26. > :03:32.something has gone wrong this year. You could split it up into a sports
:03:32. > :03:37.man and sports woman of the year. Thank you for coming in. Moving on
:03:37. > :03:40.to Egypt, where people are voting in the first free elections since
:03:40. > :03:44.President Hosni Mubarak was forced to stand down. Some people say the
:03:44. > :03:54.vote will not change things. Others are excited about their first real
:03:54. > :03:57.
:03:57. > :04:01.Election day in Egypt. There are huge queues, said to stretch up to
:04:01. > :04:06.two miles long in some places. People tonight mind because of how
:04:06. > :04:10.important this vote is. Earlier this year, Egyptians got so
:04:10. > :04:15.fed up with how their country was being run, they took to the streets
:04:15. > :04:19.in protest. Night after night, tens of thousands of people camped in
:04:19. > :04:23.Tahrir Square, in Cairo, finally bringing about a revolution, they
:04:23. > :04:25.hoped would change their country forever. This is the result, the
:04:25. > :04:31.first democratic parliamentary elections since President Mubarak
:04:31. > :04:36.was kicked out in February. He had ruled the country for 40 years and
:04:36. > :04:40.never allowed free votes. There were worries it would be delayed
:04:40. > :04:46.because of demonstrations last week, which left more than 40 dead. So
:04:46. > :04:52.far, there's a huge turnout of people. There's been no trouble. I
:04:52. > :04:57.have not seen the blatant bribery which used to go on under Hosni
:04:57. > :05:02.Mubarak's rule. It seems less chaotic. They've had a day to
:05:02. > :05:06.rettify mistakes of yesterday. The election -- rectify mistakes of
:05:06. > :05:11.yesterday. The election is going along well. Lots of people in Egypt
:05:11. > :05:15.cannot read or write. Voters will not find out who has won for a
:05:15. > :05:19.while. This is the first round of elections. They are held in stages
:05:19. > :05:22.and the results will not come out until next March. Some people are
:05:22. > :05:26.worried the military will still have too much power. Others are
:05:26. > :05:32.excited because Governments should have to take notice of what they
:05:32. > :05:36.think. Now, what is not loved about catching up with the latest
:05:37. > :05:41.blockbuster at the cinema? If you cannot see the picture well and are
:05:41. > :05:47.visually impaired it is hard to know what is going on. Audio
:05:47. > :05:52.disskription means you are told what is going on the screen.
:05:52. > :05:56.-- description means you are told what is going on the screen. I love
:05:57. > :06:01.to see the latest films at the cinema. There's one thing you may
:06:01. > :06:05.have noticed, I am visually impaired and use a cane, so I need
:06:05. > :06:10.these to enjoy a film. They are for audio description. I
:06:10. > :06:15.put them on and sit wherever I like. It is cool because it means I can
:06:15. > :06:19.enjoy the film, just like everybody else. When there is a gap in the
:06:19. > :06:23.characters talking the audio description tells me about the
:06:24. > :06:28.exciting stuff that is happening on the screen. He sees the baddies
:06:28. > :06:32.take their escape... But the problem is not all films
:06:32. > :06:37.have it. Some cinemas only use it for some screenings, which is not
:06:37. > :06:42.fair. I hope it will change soon and all films will realise how
:06:42. > :06:47.important it is. Do you think more films should have audio
:06:48. > :06:51.description? Absolutely. I am behind it 100%. The film companies
:06:51. > :06:55.are moving in the right direction. Hopefully the numbers will increase
:06:55. > :07:04.going forward and it will give the customer the opportunity to come
:07:04. > :07:09.out and see more audio deskripive films. It would be a great idea to
:07:09. > :07:13.have an award for audio description. It could encourage more to use it
:07:13. > :07:17.in their films. I hope they do. Now, tomorrow most of you will get
:07:17. > :07:20.a day off school because lots of teachers are going on strike. They
:07:20. > :07:25.will join other workers who are unhappy with the changes the
:07:25. > :07:29.Government wants to make to their pensions, that's the money you get
:07:29. > :07:39.to live on after you retire. have asked you to see what you
:07:39. > :07:47.
:07:47. > :07:51.think about the strike. That's it. You guys can still have
