:00:07. > :00:11.Good afternoon, Newsrounders. Ore here with everything you need to
:00:11. > :00:14.know this Wednesday afternoon. Here's what's on the way. With a
:00:14. > :00:19.new BlackBerry on the market, we ask what would make the perfect
:00:19. > :00:29.smartphone? In-fighting, squabbles and resignations. The Bolshoi
:00:29. > :00:32.Before all that though, we're talking about radioactive waste and
:00:32. > :00:35.what we do with it. Cumbria, in the north west of England, is home to
:00:35. > :00:38.the Lake District, one of the country's best loved beauty spots.
:00:38. > :00:41.But the council has today voted against a government idea to try to
:00:41. > :00:45.bury nuclear waste there in a giant underground bunker. We get more
:00:45. > :00:48.than a sixth of all our electricity from nuclear power. But the catch
:00:48. > :00:51.is you get radioactive waste which can be dangerous for thousands of
:00:51. > :00:57.years. The government had hoped to work out a plan to bury the waste
:00:57. > :01:01.below ground in Cumbria. But today the local council has said it
:01:01. > :01:09.doesn't want to go ahead. So it's back to the drawing board. But are
:01:09. > :01:14.there any other options? Most countries have looked at all the
:01:14. > :01:18.different options. They have come to the same answer that, actually,
:01:18. > :01:23.disposing of it Underground is the simplest and safest thing to do.
:01:23. > :01:27.There is something about being responsible for the waste we have
:01:27. > :01:30.created, rather than just passing it on to our children and our
:01:30. > :01:33.children's children. And Ricky will have a full report on this story at
:01:33. > :01:36.6.50pm tonight. In the meantime, if you want to find out more about
:01:36. > :01:39.nuclear power, and other energy sources, head to the Newsround
:01:39. > :01:42.website to watch Joe's reports from his Powering Britain series. Next,
:01:42. > :01:45.it's a big day for BlackBerry. The company's just launched their brand
:01:45. > :01:48.new smartphone, the BB10. And they're hoping that it will help
:01:48. > :01:50.them compete with the likes of Apple and Google. Two of the
:01:51. > :01:56.biggest smartphone sellers in the UK. The BB10 is installed with
:01:56. > :01:58.brand new software and features including this. You can cut and
:01:58. > :02:08.paste people's heads between two pics, for example, if someone's
:02:08. > :02:11.blinking or not smiling in one of them. Much better from her. Which
:02:11. > :02:21.is all well and good. But we've been asking you on the website what
:02:21. > :02:42.
:02:42. > :02:50.your dream phone would do and we've Thanks very much for all your
:02:50. > :02:53.comments. Next, to a scandal that's hit the world of ballet. One of
:02:53. > :02:56.ballet's best dancers has quit her top dancing job in Russia's capital,
:02:56. > :03:01.Moscow, and has fled to Canada. Svetlana Lunkina is becoming known
:03:01. > :03:04.as the latest victim of the curse of the Bolshoi Ballet. Ricky's been
:03:04. > :03:09.finding out more about the dark goings on at one of the top dance
:03:09. > :03:12.companies on the planet. Ballet. It's all about grace, poise and
:03:12. > :03:17.above all dedication. And if you want to see the best in the
:03:17. > :03:21.business the Bolshoi Ballet company in Russia is the place to visit.
:03:21. > :03:31.200 years old and home to some of the best dancers in the world. But
:03:31. > :03:33.recently the Bolshoi has been under attack possibly from its own staff.
:03:33. > :03:36.Two weeks ago Sergei Filin, the artistic director, was attacked in
:03:36. > :03:39.the street with acid. Sergei was in charge of making important
:03:39. > :03:42.decisions like which dancer played which role. He'd been receiving
:03:42. > :03:44.threats about his work and thinks the attack was all because of
:03:44. > :03:47.dancing rivalry. The Bolshoi has always been known for its fierce
:03:47. > :03:51.rivalry and tough competition. But things seem to have taken a much
:03:51. > :03:55.darker turn. There have been reports of dead cats being thrown
:03:55. > :03:57.on the stage. And even glass being put in dancers' ballet slippers.
:03:57. > :04:00.Now top dancer Svetlana Lunkina says she's quit after she started
:04:00. > :04:06.receiving threats against her husband, over a movie project he
:04:06. > :04:11.was working on. Last year the Bolshoi Ballet got a facelift when
:04:11. > :04:14.their grand theatre reopened after a massive 400 million revamp. But
:04:14. > :04:17.despite the brand new look and world class dancing, with one of
:04:17. > :04:26.their top dancers pulling out just weeks before a starring role, it's
:04:26. > :04:29.left the world's best dance troop in a bit of a crisis.
:04:29. > :04:34.And this is one you'll have to check out. See that tiny speck
:04:34. > :04:37.right here? That's a man surfing what's thought might be the biggest
:04:37. > :04:40.wave ever surfed. Head over to the Newsround website to read more on
:04:40. > :04:45.that one. And while you're there, check out the amazing video of a
:04:45. > :04:49.high-wire walk 200 feet over a busy road in Florida. There he is. Nik
