:00:00. > :00:08.Hi, I'm Ayshah with your morning Newsround. Don't go anywhere because
:00:09. > :00:14.we've got all of this coming up. The snow storms causing havoc in the US.
:00:15. > :00:22.And the pooches showing the pros just how you score a touchdown. This
:00:23. > :00:26.is Newsround. But first, military vehicles could
:00:27. > :00:29.be sent in to help the residents of flood hit Somerset by the end of the
:00:30. > :00:33.day. Military planners have been sent to the area to decide how they
:00:34. > :00:37.can help to prevent further flooding, with more heavy rain
:00:38. > :00:41.expected over the weekend. Some of the villages have been flooded for
:00:42. > :00:44.nearly a month, and on Monday we'll be spending the day with Emily and
:00:45. > :00:49.Gemma, who are having to take the boat to school because the water
:00:50. > :00:53.levels are so high. And the bad weather of an altogether
:00:54. > :00:56.colder kind continues in the US where thousands of people have been
:00:57. > :01:00.trapped on motorways and in schools by a snowstorm and icy roads. The
:01:01. > :01:03.latest cold snap stretched across several southern states last night,
:01:04. > :01:13.plunging temperatures to a very chilly -34C. And if you want to find
:01:14. > :01:16.out just how the strange weather conditions have been creating these
:01:17. > :01:22.'snow rollers', then head on over to the website now.
:01:23. > :01:25.In other news, smoking in cars that are carrying kids is a step closer
:01:26. > :01:29.to being banned. That's after a vote last night in the House of Lords.
:01:30. > :01:33.MPs will now get the chance to decide if they agree with the
:01:34. > :01:47.proposed ban, but if it goes ahead it will only apply in England.
:01:48. > :01:52.Music fans from around the world are going to be given the chance to have
:01:53. > :01:55.their say on who should win a Brit Award for the first time. The Best
:01:56. > :01:58.Video category will be thrown open to votes from other countries, and
:01:59. > :02:02.nominees for the category will be announced on the 10th of February.
:02:03. > :02:05.The likes of Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry and One Direction are up for
:02:06. > :02:09.awards. The star studded event takes place on the 19th of February.
:02:10. > :02:12.Next the number of dogs, and in particular puppies, being illegally
:02:13. > :02:16.brought in to the country has tripled over the past two years.
:02:17. > :02:19.There are now concerns that some of those dogs may be carrying dangerous
:02:20. > :02:21.and in some cases deadly viruses. Martin is live at Calagran
:02:22. > :02:29.Quarantine Kennels in Chesterfield with more.
:02:30. > :02:31.Thanks, Ayshah. Yes, that's right. Last year, 376 dogs were stopped
:02:32. > :02:35.illegally entering the country, that's three times as many as in
:02:36. > :02:38.2011. Often they're bought for very little money in other countries and
:02:39. > :02:42.snuck in to the UK where they're sold for a huge profit. Mike Binks,
:02:43. > :02:47.the manager of these kennels, joins me now. Have you witnessed a rise in
:02:48. > :02:53.smuggled dogs and how are they getting in to the country? In the
:02:54. > :03:00.last to my dears, we have seen well over 100 here. Brought in
:03:01. > :03:05.illegally, in the back of lorries and bounds. -- in the last two
:03:06. > :03:11.years. They turn up all over the country. And why is this such a
:03:12. > :03:15.problem? The biggest threat is rabies, a serious disease which can
:03:16. > :03:19.damage people badly and make people very ill. It exists in Eastern
:03:20. > :03:24.Europe and it does not exist here. The dogs will bring it in. What
:03:25. > :03:28.advice would you give to kids watching this programme who are
:03:29. > :03:33.thinking of getting a puppy? Go to a proper breeder, someone who is
:03:34. > :03:37.registered, who may be a neighbour has bought a dog from. See the dogs
:03:38. > :03:43.in their home environment. Thanks, Mike. Great talking to you. Now the
:03:44. > :03:46.government has told us said that the UK operates a strong checking regime
:03:47. > :03:50.to make sure pets entering the country don't pose a risk to animal
:03:51. > :03:54.and human health. But there are concerns from some like Mike that
:03:55. > :03:59.the checks don't go far enough. Back to you, Ayshah.
:04:00. > :04:02.It's now 115 goals and counting for Manchester City who powered their
:04:03. > :04:05.way back to the top of the Premier League in style last night,
:04:06. > :04:09.thrashing Tottenham 5-1 at White Hart Lane. Argentinian dynamo Sergio
:04:10. > :04:14.Aguero kicked things off with his 50th league goal in just 81 games.
:04:15. > :04:20.Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko and Vincent Kompany all bagged too, as City blew
:04:21. > :04:24.away their opponents. And if you want to catch up on the
:04:25. > :04:27.rest of last night's scores, then head on over to the Newsround
:04:28. > :04:31.website where Ricky's also been checking out the hi-tech headsets
:04:32. > :04:38.set for 2014. And there's an awesome picture gallery as we start the
:04:39. > :04:42.countdown to Chinese New Year. Next, this Sunday marks the return
:04:43. > :04:45.of what is known as the 'greatest show on earth'. The Super Bowl is
:04:46. > :04:51.the biggest game in American football and is as famous for its
:04:52. > :04:58.half-time show as the game itself. But it looks like this year the real
:04:59. > :05:01.show stoppers are these guys. This is the 'PuppyBowl',
