:00:00. > :00:07.Morning Newsrounders, Ayshah here with all you need to know,
:00:08. > :00:11.including: The snow storms causing havoc in the US and the pooches
:00:12. > :00:22.showing the pros just how you score a touchdown. This is Newsround.
:00:23. > :00:27.But first, military vehicles could be sent in to help the residents of
:00:28. > :00:30.flood hit Somerset by the end of the day. Military planners have been
:00:31. > :00:33.sent to the area to decide how they can help to prevent further
:00:34. > :00:39.flooding, with more heavy rain expected over the weekend. Some of
:00:40. > :00:42.the villages have been flooded for nearly a month, and on Monday we'll
:00:43. > :00:46.be spending the day with Emily and Gemma, who are having to take the
:00:47. > :00:50.boat to school because the water levels are so high.
:00:51. > :00:53.And the bad weather of an altogether colder kind continues in the US
:00:54. > :00:59.where thousands of people have been trapped on motorways and in schools
:01:00. > :01:04.by a snowstorm and icy roads. In Ohio, high winds created what's
:01:05. > :01:12.known as 'snow rollers'. We didn't know much about them, so we asked a
:01:13. > :01:15.BBC weather expert to tell us more. He's turned up in America but we can
:01:16. > :01:20.occasionally get them in this country as well. You need three
:01:21. > :01:27.things to make one. First, had, icy ground. On top of that, you need a
:01:28. > :01:32.few centimetres of snow to former, the sort that is ideal for making
:01:33. > :01:37.snowballs. If you get a strong wind blowing across that circus, it will
:01:38. > :01:42.pick up little bits and blow it along. And then it will roll up like
:01:43. > :01:46.carpet. And then you will end up with lots of snow rollers. The
:01:47. > :01:58.strange thing is nobody ever sees them being formed. Music fans from
:01:59. > :02:03.around the world are going to be given the chance to have their say
:02:04. > :02:03.on who should win a Brit Award for the first time.
:02:04. > :02:06.them being formed. Music fans from around the world The Best Video
:02:07. > :02:09.category will be thrown open to votes from other countries, and
:02:10. > :02:12.nominees for the category will be announced on the 10th of February.
:02:13. > :02:15.The likes of Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry and One Direction are up for
:02:16. > :02:20.awards. The star studded event takes place on the 19th of February. Next
:02:21. > :02:23.the number of dogs, and in particular puppies, being illegally
:02:24. > :02:26.brought in to the country has tripled over the past two years.
:02:27. > :02:30.There are now concerns that some of those dogs may be carrying dangerous
:02:31. > :02:35.and in some cases deadly viruses. Martin has been at a kennels in
:02:36. > :02:40.Chesterfield this morning. Last year, 376 dogs were stopped entering
:02:41. > :02:46.this country illegally. Often, the dogs are both in other countries for
:02:47. > :02:51.very little money and then sold here in the UK for Fuge rocket. -- for a
:02:52. > :02:54.huge profit. Mike Binks the manager of these kennels joins me now. Have
:02:55. > :02:58.you witnessed a rise in smuggled dogs and how are they getting in to
:02:59. > :03:03.the country? We have seen a big increase. Well over 100 in the last
:03:04. > :03:09.two years. It tends to come into the country in the back of a van or a
:03:10. > :03:13.car. Why is this a big problem? Customs are not checking them, so
:03:14. > :03:19.they bring in various diseases from Europe. Particularly rabies, which
:03:20. > :03:23.is very dangerous. What advice would you give to any people watching that
:03:24. > :03:28.are thinking about buying a puppy? Try to go to registered breeders.
:03:29. > :03:33.There are dog clubs around. People know the reputable breeders. Thanks,
:03:34. > :03:37.Mike. Great talking to you. Now the government has told us said that the
:03:38. > :03:40.UK operates a strong checking regime to make sure pets entering the
:03:41. > :03:43.country don't pose a risk to animal and human health. But there are
:03:44. > :03:51.concerns from some like Mike that the checks don't go far enough. Back
:03:52. > :03:54.to you, Ayshah. It's now 115 goals and counting for
:03:55. > :03:58.Manchester City who powered their way back to the top of the Premier
:03:59. > :04:00.League in style last night, thrashing Tottenham 5-1 at White
:04:01. > :04:04.Hart Lane. Argentinian dynamo Sergio Aguero kicked things off with his
:04:05. > :04:08.50th league goal in just 81 games. Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko and Vincent
:04:09. > :04:12.Kompany all bagged too, as City blew away their opponents. And if you
:04:13. > :04:15.want to catch up on the rest of last night's scores, then head on over to
:04:16. > :04:18.the Newsround website where Ricky's also been checking out the hi-tech
:04:19. > :04:21.headsets set for 2014. There were plenty of goals in the
:04:22. > :04:24.West Midlands derby too. Aston Villa beat West Brom 4-3 with Christian
:04:25. > :04:40.Benteke's second half penalty sealing the three points. Next, this
:04:41. > :04:44.Sunday marks the return of what is known as the 'greatest show on
:04:45. > :04:47.earth'. The Super Bowl is the biggest game in American football
:04:48. > :04:51.and is as famous for its half-time show as the game itself. But it
:04:52. > :04:54.looks like this year the real show stoppers are these guys. This is the
:04:55. > :04:58.'PuppyBowl', a two hour show where pooches show the pros how to really
:04:59. > :05:02.score a touchdown! All the animals on show are up for adoption
:05:03. > :05:03.including 66 puppies, 21 kittens and even some birds.
