:00:09. > :00:11.Hi, I'm Ricky, live from Port Talbot, where thousands
:00:12. > :00:24.of people at the steelworks are worried about losing their jobs.
:00:25. > :00:28.Hello from the town of Port Talbot in South Wales, where families
:00:29. > :00:31.are waiting to find out what is going to happen to that huge
:00:32. > :00:38.The company that owns it says it wants to sell its factories and many
:00:39. > :00:56.As you drive into Port Talbot as we did today, you can spot the chimney
:00:57. > :00:59.breasts and they have got giant furnaces which is producing all of
:01:00. > :01:01.that steel but there is also a distinct smell in the air from that
:01:02. > :01:03.production. Thousands of people work over there,
:01:04. > :01:06.and so it's incredibly important to children who live in this town,
:01:07. > :01:09.as their mums and dads have jobs I've been finding out why it's such
:01:10. > :01:16.a big issue right now. Steel is the most widely
:01:17. > :01:19.used metal in the world. It can be extremely
:01:20. > :01:22.strong and flexible. It's used to make all kinds of
:01:23. > :01:25.things like buildings and bridges. Planes, trains, and cars all have
:01:26. > :01:29.parts made out of steel to help And you'll find it all over your
:01:30. > :01:34.home in things like washing The UK has a long history of making
:01:35. > :01:47.steel, dating all the way back to the 1800s, but over the last few
:01:48. > :01:51.decades this has been changing. Nowadays, it's China that leads
:01:52. > :01:55.the way producing around half However, it's making more steel
:01:56. > :02:00.than it actually needs, selling all the extra stuff cheaply
:02:01. > :02:03.all around the world. This is a problem for steel plants
:02:04. > :02:06.in the UK. They say they're losing business
:02:07. > :02:10.because they can't match the low prices of cheaper Chinese steel,
:02:11. > :02:12.forcing many UK A steelworks in Redcar
:02:13. > :02:19.in the North East of England closed last year and now more
:02:20. > :02:22.jobs are at risk. Tata Steel is the biggest steel
:02:23. > :02:25.company in Britain and it now says it wants to sell off
:02:26. > :02:29.all its steelworks in the UK, which means that thousands of people
:02:30. > :02:32.could lose their jobs. The biggest steel plant in the UK
:02:33. > :02:37.is in Port Talbot in south Wales. It's really important to families
:02:38. > :02:43.living in the town. Now, the UK Government
:02:44. > :02:46.and the Welsh Assembly Government The UK Government says it wants
:02:47. > :02:52.to keep steel plants in the UK open and is working to try
:02:53. > :02:56.to make this happen. I'll be speaking to children
:02:57. > :03:01.who live here in Port Talbot and have more on this story
:03:02. > :03:04.on tomorrow's Newsround but for now
:03:05. > :03:09.it's back to Leah in the studio. Also today we're talking about how
:03:10. > :03:14.Leicester City's brilliant run in the Premier League is inspiring
:03:15. > :03:18.girls to enjoy the beautiful Leicester City Football Club have
:03:19. > :03:29.put in an astonishing performance In just 12 months, they have
:03:30. > :03:33.stormed from the bottom of the Premier League to prove
:03:34. > :03:35.themselves as potential The team have put in such
:03:36. > :03:40.a successful performance over the past year that it's encouraged
:03:41. > :03:54.these girls to get more All the kids turning to some of our
:03:55. > :03:59.sessions in the Leicester City kick, I have been outdone by Jamie Vardy
:04:00. > :04:03.when asking girls want the perfect session would be and they want him
:04:04. > :04:11.to come and coach. It has been absolutely massive. Sometimes you
:04:12. > :04:16.are with your friends and you get to meet new people as well. You are
:04:17. > :04:23.working together. You pass the ball to everybody. I like to go to watch
:04:24. > :04:27.them with my dad. I like it when they score goals. It is quite
:04:28. > :04:29.interesting and it is fun. Perhaps other football teams
:04:30. > :04:31.will follow Leicester City's lead by inspiring more girls to be
:04:32. > :04:34.the football stars of the future. Longleat House in Wiltshire
:04:35. > :04:36.is 50 years old today. Back then, for the first time ever,
:04:37. > :04:39.people were invited to drive their own cars among
:04:40. > :04:42.a pride of lions. The idea of the safari park was then
:04:43. > :04:45.born and since then millions have come face to face with lions,
:04:46. > :04:48.tigers and rhinos with only a car Newsround's back with
:04:49. > :04:56.more from Port Talbot
