0:00:07 > 0:00:11Coming up in the next few minutes...

0:00:11 > 0:00:18The legacy of Leicester's success getting girls into football.

0:00:18 > 0:00:23And the prize-winning rice crispy pop star.

0:00:23 > 0:00:23This

0:00:23 > 0:00:23This is

0:00:23 > 0:00:24This is Newsround.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31First this morning, thousands of families around the UK

0:00:31 > 0:00:34are waiting to find out what will happen to their jobs

0:00:34 > 0:00:36in towns that make steel.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39It's because Tata, the biggest company that makes metal in the UK,

0:00:39 > 0:00:44is going to sell its business.

0:00:44 > 0:00:50The company has already announced lots of job losses but now says it

0:00:50 > 0:00:52plans to sell its factories because they are not

0:00:52 > 0:00:53making enough money.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Jenny has been looking into why steel is so important.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Steel is the most widely used metal in the world.

0:00:58 > 0:01:02It can be extremely strong and flexible.

0:01:02 > 0:01:06It is used to make all kinds of things,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09like buildings and bridges.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11Planes, trains and cars all have parts made out of steel to help

0:01:11 > 0:01:12you get around.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15And you will find it all over your home in things

0:01:15 > 0:01:17like washing machines, fridges and radiators.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19British steel, especially from Sheffield, has long been

0:01:19 > 0:01:21acknowledged as some of the best in the world.

0:01:21 > 0:01:25The UK has a long history of making steel, dating all the way back

0:01:25 > 0:01:26to the 1800s.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30But over the last few decades, this has been changing.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Nowadays, it is China that leads the way, producing around half

0:01:32 > 0:01:33of the world's steel.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37However, it is making more steel than it actually needs,

0:01:37 > 0:01:40selling the extra stuff cheaply all around the world.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42This is a problem for steel plants in the UK.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45They say that they are losing business because they can't match

0:01:45 > 0:01:48the low prices of cheaper Chinese steel, forcing many UK factories

0:01:48 > 0:01:51to shut down.

0:01:51 > 0:01:57A steelworks in Redcar in the north-east of England closed

0:01:57 > 0:02:00last year and now more than 1,000 people will be losing their jobs

0:02:00 > 0:02:03around the UK, with most of them at the UK's biggest steel plant

0:02:03 > 0:02:04in Port Talbot in Wales.

0:02:04 > 0:02:08Now the Government is coming under pressure to help the plants

0:02:08 > 0:02:12and the communities who need them for jobs.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14The Government says it is working to help staff find new jobs

0:02:14 > 0:02:16as quickly as possible.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19You can find out more about what's happening in the UK steel industry

0:02:19 > 0:02:21on the Newsround website.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Next to the city of Palmyra in Syria.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28It was one of the most amazing ancient cities in the world,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30but it was under risk of being completely destroyed

0:02:30 > 0:02:32during the war there.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35Until a couple days ago, it was under the control

0:02:35 > 0:02:44of the group IS, which deliberately damaged many of the buildings.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46This is the ancient city of Palmyra.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49It's a Unesco World Heritage Site, which means it is an important

0:02:49 > 0:02:54historical place which should be protected.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56The city is in Syria, where there's been a war

0:02:56 > 0:03:01for five years.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Many sides are fighting each other to gain more power there,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06including a group which calls itself Islamic State.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09In May 2015, it took control of Palmyra.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12Islamic State destroyed buildings because they have very extreme views

0:03:12 > 0:03:14that hate the idea of other religions, even ones that

0:03:14 > 0:03:16were around thousands of years ago.

0:03:16 > 0:03:20Over the weekend, Palmyra was recaptured by forces who follow

0:03:20 > 0:03:22Syria's President Assad.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24These forces have been very brutal, but they do not agree

0:03:24 > 0:03:34with Islamic State's destruction of the ancient ruins.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48Over the weekend, Palmyra was recaptured by forces who follow

0:03:48 > 0:03:49Syria's President Assad.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52These forces have been very brutal, but they do not agree

0:03:52 > 0:03:54with Islamic State's destruction of the ancient ruins.

0:03:54 > 0:03:56So, for the time, being Palmyra is safe.

0:03:56 > 0:03:56These drone pictures reveal the damage caused by Islamic State.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00Now to the girls whose local football club has inspired them

0:04:00 > 0:04:02to get involved in the beautiful game.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05Leicester City's recent success has spurred on children in the city

0:04:05 > 0:04:06to get involved.

0:04:06 > 0:04:06Here's Leah with more.

0:04:06 > 0:04:08Mahrez, brilliant turn, Mahrez shoots, goal!

0:04:08 > 0:04:10Leicester City Football Club have put in an astonishing performance

0:04:10 > 0:04:11lately.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14In just 12 months, they have stormed from the bottom

0:04:14 > 0:04:16of the Premier League to prove themselves as potential

0:04:16 > 0:04:17champions this season.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19The team have put in such a successful performance over

0:04:19 > 0:04:22the past year that it has encouraged these girls to get more

0:04:22 > 0:04:23involved in football.

0:04:23 > 0:04:26All the kids turning up to some of our sessions in Leicester City

0:04:26 > 0:04:29kit, you know, I have been sort of outdone by Jamie Vardy

0:04:29 > 0:04:31when asking girls, what would be your perfect session?

0:04:31 > 0:04:33And they want him to come and coach.

0:04:33 > 0:04:35So, you know, it has been absolutely massive.

0:04:35 > 0:04:36Definitely.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38I only started liking it this year.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41Sometimes you're with your friends and you get to meet new people

0:04:41 > 0:04:43sometimes as well.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46They all work together and not one team-mate gets left out.

0:04:46 > 0:04:53They always pass the ball to everybody before they score.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55I like all the players and I like going to watch them

0:04:55 > 0:04:59with my dad, so it is quite fun and I like it when they score goals.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02I like how it is quite energetic and it is quite fun.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04Perhaps other football teams will follow Leicester City's lead

0:05:04 > 0:05:11by inspiring more girls to be football stars of the future.

0:05:11 > 0:05:12Well done, girls.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14And now to this hotel with a difference.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16The Aquarium of Paris is running a special contest.

0:05:16 > 0:05:19The winners will get to spend a night underwater,

0:05:19 > 0:05:22sleeping in amongst 35 different species of shark.

0:05:22 > 0:05:26The aquarium staff think that sharks are misunderstood creatures

0:05:26 > 0:05:30and the idea is to explain the life of sharks so people can learn more

0:05:30 > 0:05:35about their different behaviours.

0:05:35 > 0:05:36Looks scary to me!

0:05:36 > 0:05:38Finally, to a pop tribute with a difference.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41A huge fan of this guy, Micheal Jackson, has made something

0:05:41 > 0:05:44a little bit unusual to remember him.

0:05:44 > 0:05:47Check this out - the seven foot tall statue is made from rice crispies,

0:05:47 > 0:05:50chocolate and icing.

0:05:50 > 0:05:53It took five weeks and won a bronze medal at the Cake International Show

0:05:53 > 0:05:54in Birmingham.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57It will now be sold off for charity.

0:05:57 > 0:05:58Amazing.
