:00:00. > :00:12.It's time for the latest Newsround with exploding whales and big cities

:00:13. > :00:16.sinking on the way with me Ayshah. First, to a warning that some of the

:00:17. > :00:20.world's biggest cities are at risk of sinking into the sea. A study

:00:21. > :00:23.carried out by scientists found that the ground in coastal areas in

:00:24. > :00:27.cities like Bangkok in Thailand, New Orleans in America and Jakarta in

:00:28. > :00:32.Indonesia is much lower than it was in previous years. One of the main

:00:33. > :00:36.reasons for the sinking is because many countries pump water from

:00:37. > :00:42.underneath the ground. Scientists say getting water from alternative

:00:43. > :00:47.sources would help stop the sinking. Some cities in the world get their

:00:48. > :00:50.drinking water from deep underground. They pump it to the

:00:51. > :00:55.surface that this has the effect of making the land on which those

:00:56. > :01:01.cities are built drop-down. Tokyo, the capital of Japan, went down two

:01:02. > :01:03.metres until it stopped pumping waters in this way.

:01:04. > :01:07.Exploding whale news next as it looks like being a nervous night for

:01:08. > :01:10.people in one town in Canada. That's because they say a dead whale,

:01:11. > :01:15.washed up on their local beach, could pop at any point, but moving

:01:16. > :01:20.it is trickier than you'd think. Washed up on Canada's Newfoundland

:01:21. > :01:26.island, this whale is attracting a lot of attention. Most dead whales

:01:27. > :01:28.sing to the bottom of the ocean and decompose naturally but when this

:01:29. > :01:34.doesn't happen they can wash up on shore and be very tricky to deal

:01:35. > :01:38.with. At over 30 metres in length, it is the largest animal on earth.

:01:39. > :01:47.There is lots of stuff that has to decay. The creature the whale has

:01:48. > :01:51.eaten will break down in its stomach and gases like carbon dioxide are

:01:52. > :01:54.released which create a build-up of pressure. This pressure inside

:01:55. > :02:00.builds up lake at the Louvre and eventually if that is no release, it

:02:01. > :02:05.will pop causing a mini explosion. At over 60 tonnes in weight it is a

:02:06. > :02:07.big task to try to move it so politicians and local people are

:02:08. > :02:12.still scientific around the best course of action before it pops.

:02:13. > :02:16.And finally, listen up if you ever argue with your brother or sister

:02:17. > :02:19.about who's the best. New research suggests kids born first in a family

:02:20. > :02:23.are more ambitious than their younger siblings when it comes to

:02:24. > :02:25.studying and going on to college and university. The study of 1500

:02:26. > :02:29.children suggested parents give more attention to their first kids than

:02:30. > :02:39.their later ones. Leah spoke to some of you about it. I think it is a

:02:40. > :02:45.stereotype. Who is better at studying? You or your sister. My

:02:46. > :02:48.sister. Everybody is different, some people might want to go to college

:02:49. > :02:51.while some people will want to go and do something else. Here is what

:02:52. > :02:58.you have been saying. Newsround's back bright and early

:02:59. > :03:00.tomorrow morning.
