:00:08. > :00:12.The Newsround team have been busy getting you all of Tuesday's top

:00:12. > :00:20.stories. On the way: The horses being sold for a pound.

:00:20. > :00:24.And the man who is also a jet. It's jetman!

:00:24. > :00:27.First, many of us might be able to do a few lengths in the pool, but

:00:27. > :00:31.could you cope with strong and dangerous currents in the sea? Every

:00:31. > :00:34.summer, thousands of people have to be rescued around UK's beaches after

:00:34. > :00:44.getting into trouble. Last year, lifeboats were called out to 14,500

:00:44. > :00:49.incidents. Nearly 10,000 emergencies involved children.

:00:49. > :00:53.The summer holidays are here, so you would be forgiven for thinking that

:00:53. > :00:58.meant the end of lessons for a while. But these kids are taking

:00:58. > :01:04.part in lessons of a different kind, learning skills that may one day

:01:04. > :01:09.save their lives. How do you think that will be like to swim in?

:01:09. > :01:12.the first time, swimming's top organisation, the ASA, has teamed up

:01:13. > :01:16.with the lifeboat in charity the RNLI to teach kids how to swim

:01:16. > :01:20.safely in the sea. You may be one of the best swimmers at school, but

:01:20. > :01:25.swimming at sea is a different story. First, there was the wind,

:01:25. > :01:31.and the changing tide. The other thing is the cold. Would you know

:01:31. > :01:38.what to do if you got into trouble out at sea? I would try and

:01:38. > :01:44.signalled the lifeguards to come and get me. In the sea, you don't know

:01:44. > :01:50.how big it will be, so you might trip and fall into a deep hole.

:01:50. > :01:55.account for nearly two thirds of incidents. One of the most important

:01:55. > :01:59.things is to know how to deal with the cold. The water is a lot

:01:59. > :02:05.colder, so when you go into the water, they go into something called

:02:05. > :02:10.cold shock. Rip tides will make a difference as well. Keep your arms

:02:10. > :02:13.in the water, relax and get used to the temperatures first. The swim

:02:13. > :02:17.safely lessons are currently only available in the south-west of

:02:17. > :02:20.England, but if they prove popular, the scheme could be coming to a

:02:20. > :02:23.beach near you soon. There will be more tips on how to

:02:23. > :02:27.deal with tides and sea currents on our website. Next, animal charities

:02:27. > :02:29.say there are more than 7000 horses in the UK fighting for survival

:02:29. > :02:33.after being abandoned, mostly because their owners can no longer

:02:33. > :02:37.afford to keep them. Some are so desperate to get rid of their horses

:02:37. > :02:40.that they are selling them for as little as a pound. Six horse

:02:40. > :02:42.charities have got together to try to tackle the crisis. Martin will

:02:42. > :02:45.have more on this in our next bulletin.

:02:45. > :02:49.Next, the Beano brought us Dennis the Menace, Gnasher and Minnie the

:02:49. > :02:52.Minx. The comic has been going for 75 years and is celebrating its

:02:52. > :02:59.birthday with a new mag. Earlier in the week, Leah went behind the

:02:59. > :03:07.scenes at their HQ in Dundee. I wonder how a cartoon is made? I

:03:07. > :03:12.bet this guy could help. Gary, how does it work? We have artists that

:03:12. > :03:17.work with us. Some of them still draw the art work by hand and send

:03:17. > :03:22.it in. Then we scanned that in here. We have a colourist department here,

:03:22. > :03:27.and it is their job to cover those images in. Then it comes back to

:03:27. > :03:32.us. We put the speech balloons on it. Then it is checked by editorial

:03:32. > :03:36.staff and then it gets printed down south. Comic books like the Beano

:03:37. > :03:41.were at their most popular in the 1950s and 60s, but these days, the

:03:41. > :03:46.Beano has to compete with TV, films and games for your attention and

:03:46. > :03:51.pocket money. So how do they keep the comic feeling up-to-date?

:03:51. > :03:57.Beano has always moved with the times. We have are digital version

:03:57. > :04:01.of the Beano available. 200,000 people have downloaded the Beano

:04:01. > :04:06.app. We think we are still a major thing in dids' lives. To mark 75

:04:06. > :04:13.years since the first Beano comic, the team here are making a special

:04:13. > :04:17.edition all about this guy. But this time, he has some celebrity friends.

:04:17. > :04:23.We have just seen Andy Murray win Wimbledon, so the obvious person to

:04:23. > :04:27.have in the Beano in the birthday issue is Andy himself. I have made

:04:27. > :04:31.myself into a Beano character, but I need to find out it is -- if it is

:04:31. > :04:39.good enough to make the magazine. Guys, what do you make of this?

:04:39. > :04:43.is really good. But to make the cut, it has to be you or Andy Murray.

:04:44. > :04:47.Andy Murray, I'm afraid. Now, how cool is this? A Swiss

:04:47. > :04:51.adventurer known as Jetman has made his first public flight in a jet

:04:51. > :04:55.suit in the US. Yves Rossy wore a custom-built flying pack, which has
