0:00:56 > 0:00:59Well, to find out more about the First World War,

0:00:59 > 0:01:00you can head to Newsround online.

0:01:00 > 0:01:06Watch incredible stories about some of the youngest soldiers who fought

0:01:06 > 0:01:08on the frontline and find out what sparked World War 1.

0:01:08 > 0:01:12It's all there at Newsround online.

0:01:12 > 0:01:16England's women face a tough test tonight as they take on France

0:01:16 > 0:01:18in the quarter finals of the Women's Euros.

0:01:18 > 0:01:23England reached the last eight, topping Group D with a 100% record

0:01:23 > 0:01:27while the French only scraped second in their group.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30With ten goals scored, the Lionesses are in good form, but they know

0:01:30 > 0:01:34they have a big match ahead.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37They are without one of their key players, which is massive.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40It's a huge loss for them and a boost for us but it's only

0:01:40 > 0:01:42a boost if we capitalise on it.

0:01:42 > 0:01:46But I think we're confident going into it.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48We know we can win it.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51But we're going to have to have a very good

0:01:51 > 0:01:52performance to do that.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55Let's hope the weather is better for the English ladies tonight

0:01:55 > 0:01:58than it was when Germany were meant to play Denmark last night.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00The rain was so heavy in the Netherlands that the dugouts

0:02:00 > 0:02:04were flooded and the pitch looked a bit like a swimming pool.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07Not great for football, as this staff member found out.

0:02:07 > 0:02:13Oops, looks like she was OK, though!

0:02:13 > 0:02:16Next up, the team are preparing for their last show tonight -

0:02:16 > 0:02:19Wild Alaska Live - which you can see on BBC One at 7pm.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Well, friend of the show Steve Backshall sent Newsround

0:02:21 > 0:02:24a look behind the scenes as they prepare to film

0:02:24 > 0:02:26some humpback whales.

0:02:28 > 0:02:29Hi, everyone at Newsround.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33It's Steve Backshall, reporting to you from BBC One Alaska Live.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37Today, we're heading out to sea to try to find humpback whales.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40But not just to find them and see them but to try and witness

0:02:40 > 0:02:41an incredible feeding spectacle.

0:02:41 > 0:02:46So all of these whales coming together, cooperating

0:02:46 > 0:02:48to focus on a group of fish, swallowing tonnes

0:02:48 > 0:02:50in every single hunt.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53It is without doubt one of the greatest wildlife

0:02:53 > 0:02:54spectacles on the planet.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55If we get it right, it's going to be amazing.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59The whales are around.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01We have got whales.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04We can see lots of boats in the distance, plus our helicopter

0:03:04 > 0:03:05hovering above them.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08The whales are directly underneath.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11The only thing is that at the moment, we need to have very

0:03:11 > 0:03:12clear transmission back to land.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15So we are just hanging here for the moment.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18It's quite frustrating that they're just there.

0:03:23 > 0:03:27Next, we all know that texting and walking is not a great idea,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29especially when crossing the road, and one city in the United States

0:03:29 > 0:03:31has now banned it.

0:03:31 > 0:03:35The rule is being brought in one city in Hawaii in October and it

0:03:35 > 0:03:39will mean anyone caught crossing the road while distracted

0:03:39 > 0:03:42by their phone will be fined, and if they are caught again

0:03:42 > 0:03:43the fine gets even bigger.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46The aim is to reduce injuries from people walking across roads

0:03:46 > 0:03:49distracted by their phones.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52Next, it's that time of the week when things get

0:03:52 > 0:03:53a little weird around here.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55Yes, it's time for strange, stranger, strangest.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59Enjoy.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02These adventurous elephants decided they fancied a swim.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05Only trouble is, they got pushed out a bit too far

0:04:05 > 0:04:07and the Navy had to help them.

0:04:07 > 0:04:08Smooth, guys!

0:04:08 > 0:04:10Real smooth.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13I mean, they say elephants never forget but I think these elephants

0:04:13 > 0:04:16might have forgotten they should be on land!

0:04:16 > 0:04:17Not in the ocean.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19They're not dolphins.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21Maybe they want to be, though.

0:04:21 > 0:04:26How do you look after baby pandas without them

0:04:26 > 0:04:28realising your a zookeeper?

0:04:28 > 0:04:31Well, obviously, you dress up in a poorly constructed panda

0:04:31 > 0:04:34costume and hang out with the little guys.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37But this zookeeper in China isn't just playing with the cubs.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39He's helping them learn to fend for themselves

0:04:39 > 0:04:44without the help of humans, before they're released into the wild.

0:04:46 > 0:04:47Oh, my!

0:04:47 > 0:04:50Is that star swimmer an Olympic great, Michael Phelps?

0:04:50 > 0:04:51Wait!

0:04:51 > 0:04:53Is he going to race a shark?

0:04:53 > 0:04:55The short answer is no, he isn't.

0:04:55 > 0:04:59He's racing a simulated shark and it was all to promote a nature

0:04:59 > 0:05:02programme on a TV channel.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04Some people felt disappointed when they found out.

0:05:04 > 0:05:08Mr Phelps, however, was probably quite pleased

0:05:08 > 0:05:12even if for once he didn't win!

0:05:12 > 0:05:14How's this for a sweet present for a teacher?

0:05:14 > 0:05:15It reads: "To Mr Hathway.

0:05:15 > 0:05:20Thank you for turning me into a real SMARTIES this year.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22'You have given my learning a real BOOST.

0:05:22 > 0:05:26It's the summer holidays now so TWIRL with excitement

0:05:26 > 0:05:29and take TIME OUT to relax, you should have a nice PICNIC."

0:05:29 > 0:05:32Mr Hathway, a teacher in Bristol, said he was delighted

0:05:32 > 0:05:36with the present and was planning to share it with his family.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39I should hope so!

0:05:39 > 0:05:42And finally the world's only giant panda triplets

0:05:42 > 0:05:44celebrated their third birthday on Saturday at a Safari

0:05:44 > 0:05:46Park in South China.

0:05:46 > 0:05:49Around 5,000 panda fans gathered at the zoo to witness the birthday

0:05:49 > 0:05:51party for the pandas.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54Fans wore T-shirts specially made for the birthday party and sang

0:05:54 > 0:05:57Happy Birthday to them via a special video link.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59That's all from me, Newsround's back just after two.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02Bye.
