0:00:06 > 0:00:07Hello Team Newsround, it's Wednesday, I'm Jenny

0:00:07 > 0:00:08and here's what's coming up...

0:00:08 > 0:00:10The UK's tallest ever bridge!

0:00:10 > 0:00:16And you judge the brand new Bake Off!

0:00:23 > 0:00:25First up, the public have had their first chance

0:00:25 > 0:00:28to go on the brand new, tallest bridge in the UK.

0:00:28 > 0:00:29But where it is it?

0:00:29 > 0:00:30And how big is it?

0:00:30 > 0:00:37Here's what you need to know.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40The Queensferry Crossing - that's the brand-new 2.7 kilometre

0:00:40 > 0:00:42bridge over the River Forth in Scotland, linking Edinburgh

0:00:42 > 0:00:44and Fife.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46The Queensferry Crossing stands a massive 207 metres above

0:00:46 > 0:00:49high tide.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52That's as high as 48 double decker buses stacked on top

0:00:52 > 0:00:54of each other.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57The steel in the bridge deck weighs 35,000 tonnes.

0:00:57 > 0:01:03That's almost 200 Boeing 747s.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05It has special wind shields along each

0:01:05 > 0:01:08side to protect traffic from wind, so it can stay open even in the

0:01:08 > 0:01:15stormiest of conditions - much needed on the windy Forth Estuary.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17The foundation supports are sunk into

0:01:17 > 0:01:21the mud down to the bedrock, just one of them is as tall as the Statue

0:01:21 > 0:01:23of Liberty.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26And an online ballot was held to give 50,000 people the once

0:01:26 > 0:01:30in a lifetime chance to walk across the bridge.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Nearly five times that number a applied.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36Most are from Scotland and the rest of the UK,

0:01:36 > 0:01:40but some are from the US, India and one is from Slovakia.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44The Queen officially opened it on Monday and the day after 10,000

0:01:44 > 0:01:47local school kids will be able to walk on the bridge too.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49Then on Thursday next week, the Queensferry

0:01:49 > 0:01:56crossing will open for business.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Next up up - Bake Off is back!

0:01:58 > 0:02:01The new series has started and it's the first time the show

0:02:01 > 0:02:03has been on Channel 4, rather than BBC One.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06So did it rise to the challenge, or did it fall a bit flat?

0:02:06 > 0:02:10These kids gave us their views.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12Such a mess.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14OK, bakers, your time is up.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17I liked the first episode, because it had loads of creative

0:02:17 > 0:02:23ideas in it and I loved the new people.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25I like Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood and I'm glad Paul

0:02:25 > 0:02:33Hollywood stayed on, but I still miss Mary Berry.

0:02:33 > 0:02:38I thought the first episode was better than the old episodes.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40Because they made better cakes and the funny bit was when one

0:02:40 > 0:02:45of bakers forgot to put the oven on when they put the cake in, so it

0:02:45 > 0:02:48wouldn't bake.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51I like this series better, because Mary Berry isn't in it.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53I don't like Mary Berry.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54I think the new judges are different,

0:02:54 > 0:02:55because they're softer.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57I think they said better stuff.

0:02:57 > 0:03:03Mary Berry talked more and gave more advice.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06The person I like was this old lady in there, one of the last

0:03:06 > 0:03:07four in the challenge.

0:03:07 > 0:03:14She made a water melon that looked perfect.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16I really enjoyed the first episode and I will

0:03:16 > 0:03:19definitely keep watching to see what happens next.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22I didn't really think it was really that much different.

0:03:22 > 0:03:30The only thing different to it was the presenters and the judges.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33I will carry on with Bake-Off, but I won't do as much

0:03:33 > 0:03:38as I used to, I don't think.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40And you've been in touch at Newsround Online

0:03:40 > 0:03:41with what you thought of the show.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43Joshua says - I love the new Bake Off.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46The only thing I miss is Mary Berry.

0:04:00 > 0:04:01Ouch!

0:04:01 > 0:04:03Thanks for your comments, guys.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05Now what's it like meeting one of the biggest

0:04:05 > 0:04:06footballers in the world?

0:04:06 > 0:04:08Super fan Curtis couldn't believe his luck

0:04:08 > 0:04:10when he ran into his hero - Gareth Bale.

0:04:10 > 0:04:14Watch this.

0:04:14 > 0:04:18Are you actually Gareth Bale? Are you actually Gareth Bale?

0:04:18 > 0:04:20I can't believe that.

0:04:20 > 0:04:21Thank you ever so much.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25You're welcome.

0:04:25 > 0:04:26A big smile.

0:04:26 > 0:04:28That's lovely.

0:04:28 > 0:04:29Brilliant.

0:04:29 > 0:04:30Thank you.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32Do you want my top?

0:04:32 > 0:04:34Thank you!
