:00:39. > :00:45.to the city of Homs to find out. In the last few years,

:00:46. > :00:48.so much has changed in Syria. Buildings have been

:00:49. > :00:52.completely destroyed. Some parts of the country

:00:53. > :00:57.are unrecognisable. Different groups who can't agree

:00:58. > :01:00.on the way the country should be run have been fighting

:01:01. > :01:04.against each other. Life has changed drastically

:01:05. > :01:07.for children living here. Three years ago,

:01:08. > :01:09.Barah-hah was scared. She lost members of her own family

:01:10. > :01:12.in some of the fiercest fighting and had to stop going to school

:01:13. > :01:15.because it wasn't safe. Back then she told the BBC

:01:16. > :01:22.what life was like. We were not eating properly. I'd

:01:23. > :01:30.like to go to school. Three years on,

:01:58. > :02:00.of the worst fighting of the war. And now an ordinary day

:02:01. > :02:13.with children going to I am much happier now. I am back in

:02:14. > :02:17.the house. When I go to bed, I remember when I had a part in a

:02:18. > :02:20.play, I remember school, what I did during the day will stop its all

:02:21. > :02:23.good stuff, no bad memories. in school but not every child

:02:24. > :02:28.in Syria is so fortunate. Many are still not able to got

:02:29. > :02:32.to school and there is still no end Manchester City Women became

:02:33. > :02:42.the first English team to reach the Champions League

:02:43. > :02:43.semi-finals since 2014. They beat Danish side

:02:54. > :03:02.old when Venus William first won her Miami Open

:03:03. > :03:11.title 19 years ago. Even though she is seven years old,

:03:12. > :03:18.Ruweyda only recently Martin's been finding

:03:19. > :03:28.out more about her. Meet Ruwedya. She is seven years old

:03:29. > :03:33.and has something called selective mutism, a very strong type of

:03:34. > :03:37.anxiety meaning she cannot speak in certain situations. Until recently,

:03:38. > :03:47.Ruwedya did not say a word at school, until she started taking

:03:48. > :03:51.some special music classes. I guess Ruwedya was very quiet with

:03:52. > :03:58.selective mutism, not speaking within school at all. And then she

:03:59. > :04:03.came to music therapy and she was very shy in the first session and it

:04:04. > :04:07.took a little while to warm up, but then she responded really well and

:04:08. > :04:12.quickly. It was after her second session when she spoke her first

:04:13. > :04:19.word. Some of the kids came in and said Ruwedya is speaking. She can

:04:20. > :04:33.speak, she is just shy. Do you enjoy school more now? Yes. Great. Why?

:04:34. > :04:37.School is great. About 1% of children are thought to have

:04:38. > :04:41.selective mutism like Ruwedya but there's not a lot of research into

:04:42. > :04:43.helping people with it, so people like Ruwedya's music teacher working

:04:44. > :04:47.hard to different ways to help. That's all from me, Newsround's back

:04:48. > :04:50.right here in about half an hour. Don't forget to head
