0:00:11 > 0:00:15Good afternoon and welcome to Newsround.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17First up: It's been 20 years since a huge event

0:00:17 > 0:00:19for the Royal Family, when Princess Diana,

0:00:19 > 0:00:21the mother of Princes' William and Harry, died.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23So who was she, and what happened?

0:00:23 > 0:00:26Watch this...

0:00:26 > 0:00:30Diana Spencer was born back in 1961.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33She was the daughter of a man called Earl Spencer and her family

0:00:33 > 0:00:34were wealthy and important.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37Diana worked as a nursery school teacher

0:00:37 > 0:00:39before marrying the Queen's eldest son, Prince Charles,

0:00:39 > 0:00:42when she was 20 years old.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Their wedding was a really big deal.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48A billion people watched it on TV.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51Prince William and Prince Harry were born but Charles and Diana

0:00:51 > 0:00:56had an unhappy marriage and in 1992 they split up.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Princess Diana became a well-known public figure and was

0:00:58 > 0:01:02photographed everywhere she went.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05She did a lot of charity work and many people liked her

0:01:05 > 0:01:09because she spoke openly about her problems.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12I think the biggest disease this world suffers from in this day

0:01:12 > 0:01:15and age is a disease of people feeling unloved and I know that

0:01:15 > 0:01:18I can give love and I'm very happy to do that,

0:01:18 > 0:01:20and I want to do that.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22But then, on the 31st of August 1997, the world was shocked

0:01:22 > 0:01:24when Princess Diana died in a car crash

0:01:24 > 0:01:26in the French capital of Paris.

0:01:26 > 0:01:35Newsround covered it at the time.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37The Royal Family have said they are deeply grateful

0:01:37 > 0:01:39for the public's huge support following the death of

0:01:39 > 0:01:40Diana, Princess of Wales.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43She was a brilliant lady, all the charity work and I think

0:01:43 > 0:01:46she needs all the praise she can get and it's very sad

0:01:46 > 0:01:47how young she's died.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50Like myself, I think everybody in the whole world

0:01:50 > 0:01:51is going to miss her.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54A lot of people were very upset when she died.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57Diana had been a big part of public life and many people

0:01:57 > 0:01:59felt like they knew her.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Thousands of people made the trip to Kensington Palace where she'd

0:02:02 > 0:02:03lived to leave flowers, cards and messages

0:02:03 > 0:02:07for her as a tribute.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Thousands more lined the streets for her funeral and millions

0:02:09 > 0:02:12in the UK and around the world watched it on TV.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14Since their mother's death, Princes William and Harry have

0:02:14 > 0:02:17continued a lot of her charity work and they have spoken

0:02:17 > 0:02:23about what happened.

0:02:23 > 0:02:28We both incredibly loved her and I am very grateful

0:02:28 > 0:02:32that the love still feels there.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35It was that love that even if she was on the other side

0:02:35 > 0:02:38of a room, as a son, you could feel it.

0:02:38 > 0:02:48Now, 20 years on, Princess Diana is still being remembered.

0:02:50 > 0:02:51Moving on...

0:02:51 > 0:02:54It's the last day of the football transfer window in the UK.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57That means it's the clubs' last chance to buy players this year.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59The biggest deals so far today are Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joining

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Liverpool from Arsenal and Spurs signing defender Serge Aurier

0:03:02 > 0:03:06from Paris St Germain.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12In Houston, Texas, people are still dealing with the huge

0:03:12 > 0:03:13flooding caused by Storm Harvey.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15As well as people, pets need help too.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18Newsround has been to a shelter to see what's being done to help

0:03:18 > 0:03:21animals who've lost their homes or been separated from their owners.

0:03:21 > 0:03:22Here's reporter Paul Blake.

0:03:22 > 0:03:23Hey Newsround!

0:03:23 > 0:03:25It's not just people sheltering here at the Convention Centre.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27It's their four-legged friends too.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28This is Skip.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31He's a dog here in Houston, who tried to ride out

0:03:31 > 0:03:32the storm with his owner.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35But then on Monday, the water started to come all the way

0:03:35 > 0:03:38into his house and he had to escape in a boat!

0:03:38 > 0:03:40His friend, the doctor here, has a picture of him

0:03:40 > 0:03:42in the local paper escaping!

0:03:42 > 0:03:48When dogs like Skip come here, what sort of services do they get?

0:03:48 > 0:03:50They get the same care as their owners.

0:03:50 > 0:03:51Food, water, shelter, medical care.

0:03:51 > 0:03:53We give vaccines if they need it.

0:03:53 > 0:03:58They are allowed to stay with their owners.

0:03:58 > 0:03:59Give them crates and leashes.

0:03:59 > 0:04:00So they are not taken away.

0:04:00 > 0:04:01They stay the whole time.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04We have people come here to make sure they're getting walked,

0:04:04 > 0:04:05get fed, all the good stuff.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08One of the interesting things I've read is there's now a priority

0:04:08 > 0:04:11placed on getting pets out of these disaster zones with owners.

0:04:11 > 0:04:12Is that true?

0:04:12 > 0:04:13That's true.

0:04:13 > 0:04:19It's amazing to see the efforts.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22We know we have saved countless lives.

0:04:22 > 0:04:27Not just animals, people.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30For many, this is their only family.

0:04:30 > 0:04:37They won't abandon them.

0:04:37 > 0:04:41They have been allowed to come.

0:04:41 > 0:04:46We talked to Skip's owner.
