0:00:02 > 0:00:07- One London neighbourhood. - Two very different kids.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09- What's your school?- Dulwich College. - I go to Kingsdale.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12- We hate each other, then!- Yeah!

0:00:13 > 0:00:17They live streets apart, but their lives have never crossed.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19And that's not unusual.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22All over the UK, people live next to one another,

0:00:22 > 0:00:25but often know little about their neighbours.

0:00:25 > 0:00:29I do wonder sometimes, my family is like this,

0:00:29 > 0:00:32I wonder what the people across the road are like.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35So what happens when two boys are asked by Newsround

0:00:35 > 0:00:38to swap lives for a week?

0:00:38 > 0:00:41Half an hour brushing hair which doesn't exist.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44- It's pretty stupid. It is.- It's not.

0:00:44 > 0:00:48What will they learn about themselves? Their families?

0:00:48 > 0:00:51Hopefully, when you meet my mum, you won't find her too embarrassing.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55And the community they live in.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Where I live is more tough than when he lives.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01They'll bring back to their families one thing

0:01:01 > 0:01:05they'd want to change as a result of their experience.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08I am absolutely amazed that that is something

0:01:08 > 0:01:11that you're proposing to take in to your family.

0:01:32 > 0:01:3612-year-old Sachen and Patric live just streets away,

0:01:36 > 0:01:38but have never met.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41All that is about to change, as the two of them

0:01:41 > 0:01:44have agreed to welcome each other into their worlds.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47So, who are they?

0:01:48 > 0:01:50I'm Patric.

0:01:50 > 0:01:56Spelt without a K, as that's the Cornish way. I am 12-years-old.

0:01:57 > 0:02:01He goes to one of the country's best private schools,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04is really into his Christian faith,

0:02:04 > 0:02:08and has friends from all over London.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11Patrick lives with his mum, Claire, dad, Jeremy,

0:02:16 > 0:02:17I love my family.

0:02:17 > 0:02:21My parents, I think they'll be together for evermore.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Patric is a curious child.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28He is very kind and gentle.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Generous, loving.

0:02:30 > 0:02:36He'll enjoy it, but he'll be nervous about going somewhere else

0:02:36 > 0:02:38and acting as if he's their family.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46Sachen lives around a mile away from Patric.

0:02:46 > 0:02:50I am fun, energetic, friendly,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53great to hang with. Stylish.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57If you don't like me, deal with it.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Unlike Patric, Sachen goes to his local state school.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02He worships fashion and spends

0:03:02 > 0:03:06his spare time hanging out with his friends locally.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Do a proper pose! Stop it.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14He lives with mum, Heather, dad, David, and gran, Jenny.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16His grown-up twin sisters,

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Annalicia and Anisa, are always visiting.

0:03:19 > 0:03:25Sachen, he's quite a sociable child and he's quite confident.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28He's almost fearless, won't back down if he feels that he's right.

0:03:28 > 0:03:33Sachen is a warrior. Anything he wants, he'll go for it.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37- That's what I like about him. - Lovable.- Energetic!

0:03:37 > 0:03:40Definitely a burst of energy, I'd say.

0:03:40 > 0:03:45He's always on the go, never really stopping to rest.

0:03:45 > 0:03:48Yeah, that's our Sachen, isn't it? That's how he is!

0:03:48 > 0:03:51The boys live in Lewisham,

0:03:51 > 0:03:54one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in London.

0:03:54 > 0:03:58170 languages are spoken here and there is

0:03:58 > 0:04:01a different community round every corner.

0:04:01 > 0:04:05In the next week, the boys will experience a whole new side of life

0:04:05 > 0:04:08in their area, as they are thrown into each other's worlds.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11But first up, a task designed to give each boy

0:04:11 > 0:04:14some clues about who he's going to meet.

0:04:14 > 0:04:18Sachen and Patric must pack five things they think

0:04:18 > 0:04:20best sum them up into a box.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25I am going to put in my skates, I love them with all my heart.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28I will never get a new pair, unless my foot gets bigger.

0:04:28 > 0:04:32Hockey is one of my favourite sports, so this is going in.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36My PS3, best console ever. Black Ops, FIFA 12.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38Got to be careful with that one.

0:04:38 > 0:04:42Drumming is my favourite instrument. I've got an electric kit,

0:04:42 > 0:04:45that's why I'm putting this in the box.

0:04:45 > 0:04:47I'm going to put in this.

0:04:47 > 0:04:51I got this because I got really good on my SATs results,

0:04:51 > 0:04:55so Mum let me get this, and I've loved it ever since.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57We have got a yacht.

0:04:57 > 0:05:01Every summer we go on the boat and sail round the south coast.

0:05:01 > 0:05:03I love sailing.

0:05:03 > 0:05:07Sachen comic. I want to be one of the world's biggest collectors

0:05:07 > 0:05:11when I'm older and sell them all when they're worth a lot.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16This cross was my grandfather's on my dad's side

0:05:16 > 0:05:19and the cross is very special to me

0:05:19 > 0:05:23as one of my only reminders of my grandfather.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26And he was a very nice man, I think.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29Fried chicken.

0:05:29 > 0:05:34He's going to be, why would you put a piece of chicken in there? Voila!

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Everything in here. It's heavy!

0:05:40 > 0:05:43Job done. The boxes are sent.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46And the first day of the swap has arrived.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49Very light.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51It's heavy!

0:05:51 > 0:05:53I wonder what's in that?

0:05:58 > 0:06:03Deep-fried chicken. Food is a very peculiar thing to put in his box.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06I'm actually wondering what this is for.

0:06:06 > 0:06:10It could be anything. Even tying me up with it.

0:06:11 > 0:06:12Oh.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16I think he's going to be good fun.

0:06:16 > 0:06:18I really want to meet the boy.

0:06:20 > 0:06:25The moment has arrived. Sachen and Patric are meeting up

0:06:25 > 0:06:29at a halfway point between their two houses.

0:06:32 > 0:06:36- Hi.- How are you? My name's Sachen, what's your name?- Patric.

0:06:36 > 0:06:43- Patric, OK.- I knew your name was Sachen from the magazine.- Oh, yeah.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46- What's your school? - Dulwich College.- Dulwich College?!

0:06:46 > 0:06:52- I go to Kingsdale.- Ah, Kingsdale. We hate each other, then!- Yeah!

0:06:53 > 0:06:56- Fried chicken? - HE LAUGHS

0:06:56 > 0:06:59That's just part of me! I just love chicken.

0:06:59 > 0:07:00OK, chicken.

0:07:02 > 0:07:06It was exciting.

0:07:06 > 0:07:07Just having a laugh,

0:07:07 > 0:07:13hoping we all spend more time hanging out together.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16A nice guy. Good fashion sense.

0:07:16 > 0:07:20I like the jacket he was wearing. It was nice.

0:07:21 > 0:07:25For the first three days, Sachen will leave his life behind

0:07:25 > 0:07:28to spend time with Patric and his family.

0:07:28 > 0:07:32They might live streets away, but will their lives be worlds apart?

0:07:32 > 0:07:35# When I look in the mirror

0:07:35 > 0:07:38# I don't even recognise myself. #

0:07:38 > 0:07:42- This is my street.- OK. - I live just up here.

0:07:42 > 0:07:46Hopefully, when you meet my mum, you won't find her too embarrassing.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48I won't find her embarrassing.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50Oh, no, nobody can beat my mum on embarrassing.

0:07:50 > 0:07:52Wait till you meet my mum.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55I'm just saying, you might like her, you might not.

0:07:59 > 0:08:01Yeah, so this is my house.

0:08:03 > 0:08:06Through here is the sitting room, and there's your box.

0:08:06 > 0:08:10- A ukulele.- Oh, yeah, a ukulele.

0:08:10 > 0:08:14Yeah, I used to play it, then my little sister used to play it.

0:08:14 > 0:08:18- Now my older sister plays it. - An accordion.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20Yeah, my little sister plays that.

0:08:20 > 0:08:23Mum, this is Sachen. Mum, Claire.

0:08:23 > 0:08:25- How do you do?- Hi, Claire. - Good to meet you.

0:08:25 > 0:08:29- Thank you.- You've got the sort of face I was hoping you'd have.

0:08:29 > 0:08:32- That... That is just my mum. - "That's just my mum."

0:08:32 > 0:08:34Move.

0:08:37 > 0:08:40Different.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42His house is filled with instruments.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44My one's filled with computers and stuff.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46He has his own playhouse.

0:08:46 > 0:08:50The boxing bag was great. He must have a lot of things to do here.

0:08:51 > 0:08:55Patric loves to cook, and to welcome Sachen into his home,

0:08:55 > 0:08:59they're going to prepare a big family meal together.

0:08:59 > 0:09:00Ooh, it worked.

0:09:03 > 0:09:06Unlike many families, Patric's family don't rely on the supermarket

0:09:06 > 0:09:08for all of their food,

0:09:08 > 0:09:11so the boys head out to a local high street

0:09:11 > 0:09:13to get all the ingredients for supper.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16Very excited. I've had previous experiences cooking,

0:09:16 > 0:09:18so I'm looking forward to it.

0:09:20 > 0:09:22Hello. What would you like?

0:09:23 > 0:09:27- Beef. Roast beef for seven people - sirloin.- OK.- Seven people?!

0:09:27 > 0:09:30- Isn't beef red meat? - I don't know.

0:09:30 > 0:09:32- Hm.- But I think it is.

0:09:32 > 0:09:36- I'm going to like it.- OK. Yeah.

0:09:36 > 0:09:42Sachen rarely shops for food himself and has got a little distracted.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45Sachen's trying to make a deal with the owner.

0:09:45 > 0:09:49I think I deserve an organic sweetie.

0:09:49 > 0:09:51He's trying to get a lollipop out of the shopkeeper.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53It's called hustling.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55If you don't have money to get something, hustle to get it.

0:09:55 > 0:09:58I succeeded!

0:09:59 > 0:10:02With two, actually. There's one for Patric as well.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09- I hope you're good at following orders.- Yeah, quite good.

0:10:10 > 0:10:15I've never cooked with a bird in the kitchen before.

0:10:15 > 0:10:18Today's been fun. Yeah, shopping with Sachen,

0:10:18 > 0:10:21meeting him for the first time.

0:10:21 > 0:10:23Yeah, he was different than what I expected.

0:10:23 > 0:10:28But yeah, he's really nice and I think we'll get on.

0:10:28 > 0:10:34It's been going quite good. I enjoyed cutting the meat,

0:10:34 > 0:10:36turning the roast potatoes.

0:10:36 > 0:10:39Now the best thing I'm looking forward to is eating it.

0:10:45 > 0:10:49- I think everybody's heard that now, Sachen.- Yeah, they have.

0:10:49 > 0:10:53The bell, we have nothing like that. We just say, "The food's ready."

0:10:53 > 0:10:55I'm going to have to get one.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58Ah! Some nice potatoes made by Sachen.

0:10:58 > 0:11:00- Shall we all sit down?- Yeah.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02The bottle? Where's the bottle?

0:11:02 > 0:11:05Heavenly Father, we thank you that we have Sachen with us

0:11:05 > 0:11:08and we pray that you're with us as well.

0:11:10 > 0:11:13Ringing a bell for dinner and sitting round a table

0:11:13 > 0:11:16is very different from eating at Sachen's home.

0:11:16 > 0:11:19We don't sit round a table cos we don't have a table in the house.

0:11:19 > 0:11:23We sit on the couch and watch TV while we eat.

0:11:23 > 0:11:26- You like the food? - Yeah. Well cooked! Thank you.

0:11:26 > 0:11:30As the first day of the swap draws to a close,

0:11:30 > 0:11:32how has Sachen found life with a boy

0:11:32 > 0:11:34on the other side of his neighbourhood?

0:11:34 > 0:11:39We've got a lot of things in common. We've got barely anything that's not,

0:11:39 > 0:11:40except for cars.

0:11:41 > 0:11:44He don't like Bentleys.

0:11:44 > 0:11:46It's quite strange.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48DRUMS PLAY

0:11:48 > 0:11:51Next day, and Patric's got Sachen

0:11:51 > 0:11:54on his favourite instrument, the drums.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56I'm doing it wrong.

0:11:56 > 0:11:58They're practising to play at a party

0:11:58 > 0:12:01Patric is holding later in the day.

0:12:01 > 0:12:03I love having friends, uh,

0:12:03 > 0:12:06and having lots of parties

0:12:06 > 0:12:08and I hate being by myself.

0:12:10 > 0:12:14Patric has an exciting social life for a 12-year-old.

0:12:14 > 0:12:18His group of friends are allowed to explore different parts of London

0:12:18 > 0:12:21and they've travelled here today from all over town.

0:12:21 > 0:12:24- Hello.- Hello. 'They'll be different from my friends.'

0:12:24 > 0:12:27You've got to meet someone new in your life.

0:12:27 > 0:12:30You've got to deal with it. They don't like the same things.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32You've got to learn to like new things.

0:12:34 > 0:12:36- OK. One point. - THEY SHOUT

0:12:36 > 0:12:39Replay point, replay point!

0:12:39 > 0:12:42Everyone's talking about the swap and whether where you live

0:12:42 > 0:12:45makes a difference to who your friends are.

0:12:45 > 0:12:48One thing everyone agrees on is that getting on together

0:12:48 > 0:12:52is much more important than where you come from.

0:12:52 > 0:12:55A lot of people care where people come from.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58It's not just something that adults think about,

0:12:58 > 0:13:00but I wouldn't worry about it

0:13:00 > 0:13:03because I hang out with a lot of people

0:13:03 > 0:13:06who are quite different in terms of where they come from.

0:13:06 > 0:13:09Generally, difference shouldn't be too big an issue

0:13:09 > 0:13:11because as long as you like each other,

0:13:11 > 0:13:14and you enjoy being together, that's fine.

0:13:14 > 0:13:17With the party in full swing,

0:13:17 > 0:13:20it's time for Sachen and Patric's drum duet.

0:13:20 > 0:13:23DRUMS PLAY

0:13:28 > 0:13:31I cannot play the drums at all. That was quite good.

0:13:31 > 0:13:32Horribly!

0:13:32 > 0:13:36I think my friends like him and they just think it's

0:13:36 > 0:13:39an interesting thing to be doing.

0:13:39 > 0:13:42Today has been great. Everything went perfect.

0:13:42 > 0:13:44High points? Everything.

0:13:44 > 0:13:46Low points? None.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49Sachen's time at Patric's is up,

0:13:49 > 0:13:52and he's had so much fun he doesn't want it to end.

0:13:54 > 0:13:57Quite sad. I like it here.

0:13:57 > 0:14:02Sachen's loved loads about Patric's world - the family dinner bell,

0:14:02 > 0:14:07playing with all of Patric's stuff and partying with his friends.

0:14:07 > 0:14:11But he's only allowed one thing he'd change about his own family

0:14:11 > 0:14:13as a result of his time here.

0:14:15 > 0:14:18Now it's Patric's turn to step into Sachen's World.

0:14:20 > 0:14:24- This is where I live. - OK. Round here?- Yeah.

0:14:24 > 0:14:27'I guess I'm slightly nervous about meeting his family'

0:14:27 > 0:14:32and seeing what they're like and is his mum as embarrassing as mine?

0:14:33 > 0:14:37- So I'm going to meet your mum and dad now?- Definitely.

0:14:37 > 0:14:39They're quite a show.

0:14:39 > 0:14:41Welcome to my humble abode.

0:14:41 > 0:14:45- How are you?- Hello, Patric.- Hello. - Nice to meet you.- And you.

0:14:45 > 0:14:48My bedroom. Sky!

0:14:48 > 0:14:49Flatscreen!

0:14:49 > 0:14:54First up, stylish Sachen wants to show off his clothes.

0:14:54 > 0:14:58I'm very proud of this. Looking good comes in very handy with everything.

0:14:58 > 0:15:01Marriage, wife, girlfriend, anything.

0:15:02 > 0:15:06I'm not looking for that yet. It'll come in handy in the future.

0:15:11 > 0:15:16So you're just going to stand there just doing this all day?

0:15:16 > 0:15:1720 minutes, tops.

0:15:17 > 0:15:21That's half an hour a day brushing hair which does not exist.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24I think it's pretty stupid.

0:15:24 > 0:15:28- It's not!- It is.- It's not. - It is.- It's not.- It is.

0:15:33 > 0:15:38Sachen is still not happy with his hair, so he's getting it cut.

0:15:38 > 0:15:40That's your best friend?

0:15:40 > 0:15:45- I've only known him for four days. - I only met him on Thursday.- Yeah.

0:15:45 > 0:15:48What? It just seems like he's your friend forever.

0:15:48 > 0:15:51We have to learn after the kids.

0:15:51 > 0:15:52We've got to share love.

0:15:52 > 0:15:55So we share the love, we share it with them.

0:15:55 > 0:15:59Don't matter their colour, their race, don't matter who you are.

0:15:59 > 0:16:03- We've got to spread the love. - Yeah.- Like that?

0:16:04 > 0:16:09Another part of Sachen's Saturday routine is lamb neck soup at dinner.

0:16:09 > 0:16:14It's a traditional West Indian meal he's keen to share with Patric.

0:16:14 > 0:16:19That's really nice. I've never had West Indian food before.

0:16:26 > 0:16:30My mum's England, my dad's Jamaican and my grandma's Bajun.

0:16:30 > 0:16:33And my grandad's Indian. And I've got South African in me.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36- OK.- Yeah, it's important to me about where I come from.

0:16:36 > 0:16:40Because the countries are in me. The countries are me.

0:16:40 > 0:16:42So that's why it's important.

0:16:42 > 0:16:46I haven't really thought about it, about the places that he's from.

0:16:46 > 0:16:52Erm, I was slightly surprised with so many backgrounds.

0:16:52 > 0:16:53Of all over the world, really.

0:17:00 > 0:17:05Um, this first day of the swap I've found it...

0:17:05 > 0:17:08I wouldn't really say fun, because sitting in a barber's was

0:17:08 > 0:17:12slightly boring, but it was interesting to see, that is

0:17:12 > 0:17:16a big part of Sachen's life and that is what he does.

0:17:27 > 0:17:32Next morning, before the boys are allowed out to play - chores.

0:17:33 > 0:17:37- Do you usually do something like this in your house?- Huh? No, I don't.

0:17:37 > 0:17:41I don't really have a fixed chore for me to do in the mornings.

0:17:41 > 0:17:44I just help my mum where she needs it.

0:17:45 > 0:17:48With the cleaning done, the boys head off

0:17:48 > 0:17:50to Sachen's favourite hangout - the Cage.

0:17:53 > 0:17:56Sachen's friends all live locally and have known each other

0:17:56 > 0:17:58since primary school.

0:17:58 > 0:18:02He's a good friend. He's always there for you, like, if you're in trouble,

0:18:02 > 0:18:05he'll make sure you go to your house and tell your parents

0:18:05 > 0:18:09the right facts and he'll always be there for you as a friend.

0:18:09 > 0:18:10He's just there.

0:18:10 > 0:18:13It's good to know people in case you need their help

0:18:13 > 0:18:16and good to know where people live.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18You have to make sure you make good friends

0:18:18 > 0:18:20so they're always there for you.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22When you make friends, you make links,

0:18:22 > 0:18:25and when you get links, you make money.

0:18:30 > 0:18:33They seem nice. They seem good friends.

0:18:33 > 0:18:36But they seem quite different from mine.

0:18:36 > 0:18:38CHEERING

0:18:41 > 0:18:46It's open house at Sachen's. Friends and family regularly drop round

0:18:46 > 0:18:48for a traditional Sunday lunch of rice and peas.

0:18:48 > 0:18:53It's nice to come around your friend's house and be offered food.

0:18:53 > 0:18:57And just be around this nice environment where nobody is shouting,

0:18:57 > 0:18:59nobody is getting told off.

0:18:59 > 0:19:02It's basically like a whole big family right now.

0:19:02 > 0:19:08They seem to be together a lot more than my family are.

0:19:08 > 0:19:11Like, my dad's at the top of the house, my mum's at the bottom

0:19:11 > 0:19:15and they're always shouting up to each other or something.

0:19:15 > 0:19:19- Lois!- Yeah? - Have you done your teeth?

0:19:19 > 0:19:21- Yeah!- Don't believe you! Can I smell you?

0:19:21 > 0:19:26Everybody's in their own room on different floors

0:19:26 > 0:19:31and they seem to be, like, just a few metres apart and, yeah,

0:19:31 > 0:19:35that's one thing I'd like to change

0:19:35 > 0:19:38but I'm not sure it's going to be possible.

0:19:38 > 0:19:42Sachen loves where he lives, but like so many areas in London

0:19:42 > 0:19:45there is often trouble just round the corner.

0:19:45 > 0:19:49A couple of days earlier there was a shooting near his local shop.

0:19:49 > 0:19:52So with the shooting thing, do you feel safe and everything?

0:19:52 > 0:19:57I do now, but anything could happen, but it's rarely anything happens.

0:19:57 > 0:20:01This was one time. A feud between this gang and another gang.

0:20:07 > 0:20:10Sachen is passionate about improving his community

0:20:10 > 0:20:14and has won awards creating a safe place to play.

0:20:14 > 0:20:17He's keen to get Patric involved in the final phase.

0:20:17 > 0:20:23Before, up here was literally derelict. Everywhere was rubbish.

0:20:23 > 0:20:27Shrubbery, bushes everywhere. And then I got funding to make it better.

0:20:27 > 0:20:31They cut down the trees and shrubbery, everything disappeared.

0:20:31 > 0:20:35- Why did you do it? - Because no one had a place to play.

0:20:35 > 0:20:39We used to play on the road, we never had a place to play.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42Community is important to me, because it's about where I live

0:20:42 > 0:20:44and the people I live with.

0:20:44 > 0:20:47Going to show that we are doing something to clean our area up.

0:20:47 > 0:20:50Because of all the gangs and violence that's going on.

0:20:50 > 0:20:54Sachen's life has totally defied Patric's expectations.

0:20:54 > 0:20:59Spending time in his world has made him realise there's a lot more

0:20:59 > 0:21:04to Sachen than looking good and having the latest designer gear.

0:21:04 > 0:21:05My thoughts have changed.

0:21:05 > 0:21:10Like, I guess, for the better, about what Sachen does.

0:21:10 > 0:21:12I think he's a really nice person.

0:21:12 > 0:21:15For the last six days, Patric and Sachen

0:21:15 > 0:21:18have been living in each other's worlds.

0:21:18 > 0:21:22They've done everything together except going to school.

0:21:22 > 0:21:25Their schools are next to each other but are pretty different.

0:21:25 > 0:21:28Patric's is one of the most prestigious private schools

0:21:28 > 0:21:31in the country, and Sachen goes to a successful local comprehensive.

0:21:31 > 0:21:35Sachen's coming to my school first. I'm feeling quite positive.

0:21:35 > 0:21:38I like my school and it's a great place to be.

0:21:39 > 0:21:42I'm kind of nervous, but excited at the same time.

0:21:42 > 0:21:46I don't know what it's going to be like, but I know some people there.

0:21:46 > 0:21:49I just hear people say they're posh.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52Kingsdale and Dulwich are kind of, we're meant to hate each other,

0:21:52 > 0:21:55but I think most of the people there are really nice.

0:21:55 > 0:21:59- Loads of my friends go there. Yeah, so, my school.- It's big.

0:22:01 > 0:22:05- That's only a tiny bit of it. - Is that Big Ben?- It's just a clock.

0:22:05 > 0:22:08My part of the school is over there, then the lower school.

0:22:08 > 0:22:11Then the junior school and the science block.

0:22:11 > 0:22:13- Did I say that? - Yeah, you did.- OK.

0:22:13 > 0:22:15And then there's the science porta-labs

0:22:15 > 0:22:17and then DUCKS is over there.

0:22:17 > 0:22:2011 buildings. I've only got four.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31THEY SING

0:22:31 > 0:22:35Do you feel kind of weird being in my school but with your uniform?

0:22:35 > 0:22:37Yeah.

0:22:37 > 0:22:42Well, Patric isn't really posh. That's what I thought of his school.

0:22:42 > 0:22:46Not everyone comes from a mansion here. I don't come from a mansion.

0:22:46 > 0:22:50I could see myself at the school, but if it wasn't an all-boys school

0:22:50 > 0:22:53and if it was mixed, like my school.

0:22:54 > 0:22:57Just a short walk around the corner,

0:22:57 > 0:22:59and the boys arrived at Sachen's school.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02OK, welcome to Kingsdale Foundation School.

0:23:03 > 0:23:07Kingsdale Foundation School is housed in one of the most futuristic

0:23:07 > 0:23:09buildings in the area.

0:23:14 > 0:23:20So this is my science classroom. Or one of my three science classrooms.

0:23:20 > 0:23:23It's kind of... Not embarrassing.

0:23:23 > 0:23:29Different, because my school is way smaller than his school.

0:23:29 > 0:23:33And it's more modern and futuristic.

0:23:33 > 0:23:38Was quite rough and disruptive, but now the school's changed

0:23:38 > 0:23:40because they've built the school

0:23:40 > 0:23:42and since it's been in a better environment,

0:23:42 > 0:23:45different building, everyone's changed.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55I feel quite proud showing him around. This is my school.

0:23:55 > 0:23:59He felt proud showing me around his school.

0:23:59 > 0:24:02I'm proud about where I learn my education.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10For the last week, Sachen and Patric

0:24:10 > 0:24:12have welcomed each other into their worlds.

0:24:12 > 0:24:15For both, it's been an incredible journey.

0:24:15 > 0:24:18It's transformed how they see their neighbourhood.

0:24:18 > 0:24:21It's taught them how different another family can be

0:24:21 > 0:24:23and it's been a lot of fun too.

0:24:23 > 0:24:25Now the final challenge -

0:24:25 > 0:24:28identifying one thing they'd take from the other's life

0:24:28 > 0:24:30and introduce into their own.

0:24:32 > 0:24:35Today the families meet for the first time and the boys will

0:24:35 > 0:24:39tell their parents the new rule they would like to bring in.

0:24:39 > 0:24:41It's a nerve-racking moment.

0:24:41 > 0:24:45My family meeting Patric's family. He claimed his family's mad.

0:24:45 > 0:24:48I don't think so. And I think that my family's mad, well, my mum.

0:24:48 > 0:24:51And he doesn't think so,

0:24:51 > 0:24:54so they could be a good match if they're both crazy.

0:24:54 > 0:24:56We met Sachen. We'd like to meet his family.

0:24:56 > 0:25:00I think Sachen's such a nice boy that his family must be nice as well.

0:25:00 > 0:25:04I'm not looking forward to it as my mum will embarrass me.

0:25:07 > 0:25:11- Hi, Patric!- Hi.- Hello.- I'm Jeremy. - Nice to meet you, Jeremy.

0:25:11 > 0:25:13- This is Claire. - Nice to meet you, Claire.

0:25:13 > 0:25:15Patric we know.

0:25:15 > 0:25:16Patric goes first.

0:25:16 > 0:25:22So, guys, over the swap I've been looking at what I'd like to bring

0:25:22 > 0:25:27from Sachen's family into my family and I propose, no shouting.

0:25:27 > 0:25:31And my proposal is for no shouting for one week

0:25:31 > 0:25:35and we'll see if we can do that. Which I don't expect that we will.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39We're absolutely amazed!

0:25:39 > 0:25:42- Did I not shout at all?- No.

0:25:42 > 0:25:44- You never...! - And after a lot more shouting,

0:25:44 > 0:25:46the family decide to try not to shout.

0:25:46 > 0:25:49Yes, you so...!

0:25:49 > 0:25:52Well, it would be quite a funny exercise to not shout.

0:25:52 > 0:25:56And I might get fitter running up and down the stairs all the time.

0:25:56 > 0:25:59It's Sachen's turn to tell his parents what

0:25:59 > 0:26:03he would like to introduce into his family from his time at Patric's.

0:26:03 > 0:26:08My proposal from Patric's family to my family is the bell.

0:26:08 > 0:26:10They have a bell!

0:26:10 > 0:26:16- It doesn't work!- It does! It would. In my house,

0:26:16 > 0:26:20when food's ready, you ring it and everyone comes for a family dinner.

0:26:20 > 0:26:22So when we get this bell

0:26:22 > 0:26:26and I have to ring it right next to your ears, you will still come?

0:26:26 > 0:26:29- Is that a yes? - Yeah, I think we can trial it.

0:26:33 > 0:26:36So, over the next couple of weeks,

0:26:36 > 0:26:38Patric's family will be trying not to shout

0:26:38 > 0:26:42and Sachen's family will be ringing a bell to call everyone to dinner.

0:26:42 > 0:26:46Despite the boys worrying over embarrassing parents, it seems

0:26:46 > 0:26:49the meet-up has gone well.

0:26:49 > 0:26:53I think they both got on very well, so obviously two crazies go together.

0:26:54 > 0:26:56Over the last two weeks,

0:26:56 > 0:26:59Patric and Sachen have shared each other's worlds.

0:26:59 > 0:27:01Has it all been worth it?

0:27:01 > 0:27:04I think the swap was showing me

0:27:04 > 0:27:08a lot of things about another boy in my area.

0:27:08 > 0:27:11It was a good experience and interesting to do.

0:27:11 > 0:27:15'He has a different life from me, but in some ways it's similar.'

0:27:15 > 0:27:18It doesn't really matter how it is, it's your life.

0:27:18 > 0:27:20It's fate that chooses it.

0:27:20 > 0:27:24You could be poor, that's fate's choice. Rich, fate's choice.

0:27:26 > 0:27:30A week on, and have the families managed to stick to their new rules?

0:27:33 > 0:27:38- Dad!- What?- Dinner! Patric! - It didn't work.

0:27:38 > 0:27:42My mum did try, and I think she didn't shout at all.

0:27:42 > 0:27:45But nobody else really did try.

0:27:45 > 0:27:47But one argument in one week is quite good.

0:27:47 > 0:27:49RINGING

0:27:49 > 0:27:53Everyone is using it for getting me to come for breakfast,

0:27:53 > 0:27:56come for lunch, and I just ring it for fun!

0:27:56 > 0:27:58It hurts my eardrums!
