0:00:05 > 0:00:07Time to get my ninja on.

0:00:07 > 0:00:08And my clothes.

0:00:14 > 0:00:15TING!

0:00:25 > 0:00:28The Art Ninja goblin puppet - a companion that's furry good!

0:00:30 > 0:00:32So, I've got myself some sponges,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34and I'm going to cut this big one here,

0:00:34 > 0:00:37just along where the curve meets the straight line.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39This is for his head and jaw.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41And these other ones, just normal washing-up sponges,

0:00:41 > 0:00:45where these two grooves are, cut along there.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48And I'm going to cut along this strip here.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50And then cut them in half.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52And these are going to make the eyebrows of the goblin.

0:00:52 > 0:00:56I'm going to start cutting some triangles into that bit that's left.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Take care with sharp scissors.

0:00:58 > 0:01:02These two with the line across the tip, they're going to be the ears,

0:01:02 > 0:01:05and this one here with the overhang, that's going to be the nose.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08These pieces will be the goblin's horns.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10I want the horns to have a bit of texture, a bit of twist,

0:01:10 > 0:01:14so I'm going to use a bit of string to tie a knot round the top,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16and then I'm just going to wrap it around.

0:01:18 > 0:01:19Snip off the excess,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22then I'm going to stick it in place with some strong glue.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25I'm going to do the same with the other one

0:01:25 > 0:01:26to create that twisted horn texture.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31Now I'm going to glue on all the little bits I've just cut out,

0:01:31 > 0:01:32starting with the nose.

0:01:32 > 0:01:36You can cut out any shapes you like to customise your goblin.

0:01:36 > 0:01:37Put the ears on.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Horns on.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41If they don't stick right away,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43hold them in place for a few seconds.

0:01:43 > 0:01:44Now, onto the eyebrows.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Now you need to decide is he going to be a happy goblin,

0:01:47 > 0:01:50by maybe having them up like this,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52or maybe a more mean and nasty goblin,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54by having them down like that?

0:01:54 > 0:01:56I'm trying to make a friend,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58so I'm going to make mine nice and happy.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04Looking good so far. Now I'm going to paint him a nice goblin green.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07When painting sponges you'll need loads of paint

0:02:07 > 0:02:09cos they're really absorbent.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12And dabbing seems to work better than a long brushstroke.

0:02:12 > 0:02:16Don't forget to put some paper down if you're doing this at home.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18I'm going to do the horns yellow.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23Right, just going to put that to one side to dry

0:02:23 > 0:02:26while I draw the inside of a goblin mouth.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29To paint the mouth, add white to the colours

0:02:29 > 0:02:31to make them a little bit lighter.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37I think the tongue should have some nice yellow spots on it.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39Now a nice green goblin tongue.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44There you go. I'm going to paint all around the outside

0:02:44 > 0:02:45and this little space here black.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50Right, if you're doing this at home you'll need to wait for that to dry,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52but I wait for nothing cos I'm the Art Ninja.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55- WHIP CRACKS - There we go, nice and dry.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57Using black pen, add an outline to your mouth

0:02:57 > 0:02:59to make the colours pop out.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04This card is your puppet's mouth

0:03:04 > 0:03:06and you'll operate this to make him speak.

0:03:08 > 0:03:12I'm going to glue this on the inside of the sponges here,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14making sure the tongue's at the bottom.

0:03:14 > 0:03:18Fold it like that. I'm going to put glue on this side, as well.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23You see how the mouth is going to open and close now?

0:03:23 > 0:03:26To give you more control, it's good to put a cardboard strip over the

0:03:26 > 0:03:30back so that when you open your hand the top of the mouth comes with it.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32Attach it securely with sticky tape.

0:03:36 > 0:03:38But right now, he can't see,

0:03:38 > 0:03:41so I'm going to add some eyes using a ping-pong ball.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43Now, you need to cut it in half.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46That can be quite tricky so get an adult to help you.

0:03:46 > 0:03:47I don't need any help,

0:03:47 > 0:03:48I'm a ninja.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54Now I'm just going to draw some nice black pupils.

0:03:54 > 0:03:58Stick the eyes to the goblin's face, again using some strong glue.

0:03:58 > 0:03:59Ra-ra-ra!

0:03:59 > 0:04:02Some teeth. With some cardboard I've cut this already.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04I'm going to give him an under bite.

0:04:05 > 0:04:07Nice bit of character.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10But, he's a puppet and you can see my hand.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13So I'm going to give him a lovely furry hide.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16I've got some fun fur here. I've cut out these shapes.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18This nice long strip's for the body,

0:04:18 > 0:04:21and this bit's going to go around the head.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25It's easier to put glue onto the sponge than it is to the fur.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28I'm going to push the fur on like that.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33Glue these edges along the edge of the cardboard.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36Holding the fur in place will help it stick.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40For the second piece of fur, glue around the back

0:04:40 > 0:04:44of the goblin's head before gently sticking the fur head piece to it.

0:04:45 > 0:04:49And then glue together the body material at the back.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52And then I'm going to stick the edges here

0:04:52 > 0:04:53to the body material, too.

0:04:53 > 0:04:56I've got some arms here that I've made

0:04:56 > 0:04:59from tubes of the same material, and some hands.

0:04:59 > 0:05:00Simply glue them in place.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06And, as a final touch to his chin, paint on some warts -

0:05:06 > 0:05:07he is a goblin, after all!

0:05:09 > 0:05:11Let's make it so that you can control his arms.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14For that I'm going to use two kebabs skewers.

0:05:14 > 0:05:17I'm going to stick one in this arm, one in the other.

0:05:17 > 0:05:19Just push it into the sponge.

0:05:24 > 0:05:26- HIGH-PITCHED VOICE:- Hello, Ricky!

0:05:26 > 0:05:28What a beautiful goblin puppet.

0:05:28 > 0:05:29I think I'll call him Brian.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32Make yourself comfortable.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34The goblin puppet.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36Why don't you bring one to life yourself?

0:05:37 > 0:05:40GOBLINS CHATTERING

0:05:47 > 0:05:50You can make your goblin puppets any shape or size you like.

0:05:50 > 0:05:53Look at these mischievous critters.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55They're more cute than scary, I'd say.

0:05:55 > 0:05:59Here's a quick art tip on how to draw someone truly scary.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02The best way to draw a scary character is to use pointy shapes,

0:06:02 > 0:06:04so I'm going to start by drawing

0:06:04 > 0:06:06a face that's an upside-down triangle shape,

0:06:06 > 0:06:09then I'm going to add slanty eyes that lean in to the centre.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12This makes him look a lot more mean and angry.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16You can accentuate that with some eyebrows doing the same thing.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20Then have a pointy nose...

0:06:20 > 0:06:22and ears.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25And I think my scary character's going to be a vampire,

0:06:25 > 0:06:28so I'm going to draw the mouth with some fangs.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30Just pop some hair in there.

0:06:32 > 0:06:35Then, with the body, I'm going to keep it quite thin and lean.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38He's going to be doing a scary pose, putting his arms in the air.

0:06:38 > 0:06:42Maybe in this pose he's doing a nasty laugh, going, "Wa-ha-ha!"

0:06:42 > 0:06:46Going to add some big scary claws on the end.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49To finish, I'm going to add a pointy collar,

0:06:49 > 0:06:51bat wings under the arms...

0:06:52 > 0:06:56..and a nice big moon to make his surroundings scary.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58Vampires never come out in the daytime.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00There you go.

0:07:00 > 0:07:02A quick art tip.

0:07:04 > 0:07:06Now try and draw your own scary character.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08It could be shockingly good.

0:07:15 > 0:07:17TV: Hey, you guys!

0:07:17 > 0:07:19This guy is such a creep.

0:07:19 > 0:07:23Have you ever wanted to creep up and play tricks on your mates?

0:07:23 > 0:07:24Told you.

0:07:24 > 0:07:29Now you can surprise them with this incredible gassy ghost!

0:07:29 > 0:07:32BALLOON HISSES AND RASPS

0:07:32 > 0:07:34LOUNGE JAZZ PLAYS

0:07:34 > 0:07:37Here's how you make it. You'll need two pieces of card,

0:07:37 > 0:07:40one white and one black,

0:07:40 > 0:07:42and a pair of scissors.

0:07:42 > 0:07:45With care, cut some shapes from the card -

0:07:45 > 0:07:48two arms from the white,

0:07:48 > 0:07:50eyes and nose from the black.

0:07:54 > 0:07:57Next, you need a white plastic bag...

0:07:58 > 0:08:00..and some double-sided sticky tape.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05Use the tape to stick the eyes and mouth to the bag.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09Peely-peely, sticky-sticky.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15Stick the arms on, too.

0:08:17 > 0:08:18Now you need a white balloon.

0:08:21 > 0:08:26Inflate said balloon, but do not tie it.

0:08:26 > 0:08:29Careful now, don't let go of that balloon.

0:08:29 > 0:08:33Put the balloon inside the bag while holding the end.

0:08:33 > 0:08:35It now looks like a scary ghost.

0:08:35 > 0:08:38It's very convincing(!)

0:08:38 > 0:08:39The gassy ghost!

0:08:39 > 0:08:42Why don't you make one and let one go?

0:08:42 > 0:08:44BALLOON HISSES AND RASPS

0:08:44 > 0:08:47They'd be good to cover up your own bottom burps!

0:08:47 > 0:08:48I have to get me some of those.

0:08:48 > 0:08:50Eurgh!

0:08:52 > 0:08:54Now go to the website and get your ninja on.

0:08:58 > 0:08:59Art ninja!
