0:00:05 > 0:00:08Time to get my ninja on - and my clothes.

0:00:08 > 0:00:09Yyyah!

0:00:25 > 0:00:27HEAVY RAINFALL

0:00:27 > 0:00:31Wow. It's persistently raining out there.

0:00:31 > 0:00:35That kind of thing didn't put off famous artist JMW Turner, though.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38In fact, I think I'll do some Turner-inspired art,

0:00:38 > 0:00:39using wet paper.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Whoa, who are you?

0:00:42 > 0:00:45I'm famous British painter, Turner.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47JMW Turner, to be precise.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49I was a landscape painter

0:00:49 > 0:00:53who often captured the energy and power of the sea and the weather.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Here's one of my best-known paintings.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58I once tied myself to the mast of a ship,

0:00:58 > 0:00:59so that I could paint up a storm.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Dude, you don't need to tie yourself to a ship.

0:01:02 > 0:01:06You just have to put your painting in the rain. I'll show you.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08See you later.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10I've got some dark paper here.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Some nice primary colours, a bit of black and white as well.

0:01:13 > 0:01:14First thing I'm going to do

0:01:14 > 0:01:16is give the paper a good spray with some water.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19'Because that will give the painting a nice rainy effect.'

0:01:19 > 0:01:22And I'm going to paint a picture of a busy road at night.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25I'm going to start by painting some cars.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27Maybe some blue, add a little bit of white to it,

0:01:27 > 0:01:28to lighten it up.

0:01:33 > 0:01:34Do the roof...

0:01:36 > 0:01:39Now, the paint that I'm using is acrylic paint -

0:01:39 > 0:01:41and that's because it sticks to wet paper better.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44'But you can also use poster paint.'

0:01:44 > 0:01:45Another car next to it.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53Look how the paint runs into the water, like there.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55Makes it feel like it's raining.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58It's a road, so we've got to have

0:01:58 > 0:02:01some cars coming from the other direction as well.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Going to add a little bit of black in,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06just to put some detail back into the cars -

0:02:06 > 0:02:09give it some windows and some tyres.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12'You don't have to be a professional painter for this technique to work.'

0:02:20 > 0:02:23If it starts to dry as you're painting it,

0:02:23 > 0:02:28just add a little bit more water, just to keep it all nice and moist.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30All adds to the effect.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33'As the cars start to go off into the distance,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35'you don't need to paint as much detail.'

0:02:35 > 0:02:38The number plates, with a bit of yellow.

0:02:38 > 0:02:39Yeah.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Now, I'm going to do the street lamps with a bit of yellow

0:02:48 > 0:02:50and a bit of white around the edges, to give them that glow.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Some red for the back lights.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05I'm just sort of dabbing it on,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07to get a kind of nice blurred, watery effect.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Need a bit more water, actually.

0:03:12 > 0:03:13And a bit of white,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16for that car that's coming in the other direction.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19And of course, we're going to need some reflections,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22because there's water on the road. Look at that.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24All flowing from the water.

0:03:24 > 0:03:25Lovely.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29Just picking it up in the lamps, just to give it a nice sort of glow.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35And then, reflections of those back lights.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43They could do with a little bit of black going back in,

0:03:43 > 0:03:46to pull them out from the dark background.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52Spray... All it needs now is a frame.

0:03:54 > 0:03:56Look at that.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58'A Turner-style water picture.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00'Go on - now it's your turn to try it!'

0:04:02 > 0:04:03DRUM ROLL

0:04:03 > 0:04:05BISCUIT CRIES OUT

0:04:05 > 0:04:06Oof!

0:04:06 > 0:04:08- WAFERS:- Ooh...

0:04:08 > 0:04:11Oh, no! Should I call an ambulance?

0:04:11 > 0:04:13No, it's just an animation - a CRUMBY one.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16And you can make an awesome dunk stunt

0:04:16 > 0:04:19with a pack of yellow biscuits, a cup of tea,

0:04:19 > 0:04:21some bendy wire, some strong sticky tape

0:04:21 > 0:04:23and a camera.

0:04:23 > 0:04:26And you can put it together in just three ninja moves.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29Ninja move number one. You need to set up your scene.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31Now, I'm using this coffee table as my backdrop.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34I've got myself a cold cup of tea here, ready to go -

0:04:34 > 0:04:36and now, I can start doing my animation.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39So I need to take a shot each time my biscuit climbs up to the top,

0:04:39 > 0:04:41to jump off and do its death-defying stunt.

0:04:41 > 0:04:44I need to make sure that these biscuits here

0:04:44 > 0:04:46react when he's getting ready to jump,

0:04:46 > 0:04:48because there's quite a lot of suspense in this.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50WAFERS GASP

0:04:50 > 0:04:53'So every time I move the pink biscuit a tiny amount,

0:04:53 > 0:04:56'I take a photo - and then when I edit all the photos together,

0:04:56 > 0:04:58'it'll make it seem like they've moved.

0:04:58 > 0:05:02'Obviously, I have to eat a few wafers as I go. It's only fair.

0:05:03 > 0:05:05'Ninja move number two.'

0:05:05 > 0:05:06It's time for the death-defying stunt,

0:05:06 > 0:05:09so I need to attach some wire to the back of my biscuit.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12And I'm using some sticky tack, along with some strong black tape.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15And then, I need to attach the other part of the wire

0:05:15 > 0:05:17to this tin up here.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20And I'm going to conceal where it's actually attaching to it.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23Get him into position and then I'm going to move the camera,

0:05:23 > 0:05:26so I can hide where it's attached to the back of the biscuit.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29There we go. Sneaky-sneaky. Now I've hidden where it attaches to it,

0:05:29 > 0:05:31it means it's easier to paint it out. So, take my shots...

0:05:31 > 0:05:33CAMERA CLICKS

0:05:33 > 0:05:34I'm going to take this out of the way

0:05:34 > 0:05:36and I'm going to shoot a clean picture,

0:05:36 > 0:05:38without the biscuit or the wire in it.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40This is known as a plate.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42It means that I can paint out the wire afterwards

0:05:42 > 0:05:45and make it look like the biscuit's really doing a stunt.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48'It's always good to get a mate to help out. This is my mate Rich.

0:05:51 > 0:05:53'Ninja move number three.'

0:05:53 > 0:05:56Compile your frames in an animation app.

0:05:56 > 0:05:59'There's loads of free editing apps like I'm using

0:05:59 > 0:06:02'available online for your PC or tablet.'

0:06:02 > 0:06:05Now, I've painted out all the wire, I've added some sound effects

0:06:05 > 0:06:08and I think it's time to take a look at the finished piece.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10- Crumb roll, please! - DRUM ROLL

0:06:14 > 0:06:15WAFERS MUTTER

0:06:17 > 0:06:19WAFERS GASP

0:06:21 > 0:06:23DRUM ROLL

0:06:23 > 0:06:25BISCUIT CRIES OUT

0:06:25 > 0:06:26Oof!

0:06:26 > 0:06:27WAFERS: Ooh...

0:06:29 > 0:06:31WAFERS WAIL

0:06:31 > 0:06:33CRUNCH CRUNCH

0:06:33 > 0:06:35WAFERS SHRIEK

0:06:35 > 0:06:37Oh, yeah! It looks well good,

0:06:37 > 0:06:39looks just like he's doing a stunt dive.

0:06:39 > 0:06:42I think it looks so good, I'm going to make another one.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46Aw... They're all gone.

0:06:50 > 0:06:51Here's a real quick art tip.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54How to create the illusion of your favourite little character

0:06:54 > 0:06:57being underwater. So, you need to start with the water line.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00I'm going to draw that with a wavy line like this,

0:07:00 > 0:07:02with all the peaks pointing upwards.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04Now, draw a line for the seabed.

0:07:05 > 0:07:07And I'm going to add a few weeds here.

0:07:07 > 0:07:10And I'm going to do them with wavy lines,

0:07:10 > 0:07:12to create the idea that there's an underwater current.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14One that side...

0:07:16 > 0:07:19Now I'm going to draw my character, and I'm going to make sure that

0:07:19 > 0:07:21they're floating in the middle of the sea.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24And I'm going to draw a mermaid. There's a tail...

0:07:26 > 0:07:29And we'll have her hair nice and wavy,

0:07:29 > 0:07:31to reinforce the idea of the underwater current.

0:07:33 > 0:07:34There we go.

0:07:34 > 0:07:37And now I'm going to add another little character here, just a fish.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41And I'm going to put some bubbles above him,

0:07:41 > 0:07:43just to show that he's breathing underwater.

0:07:43 > 0:07:47Now finally, add a couple of action lines

0:07:47 > 0:07:50so that she's floating.

0:07:50 > 0:07:51There we go.

0:07:52 > 0:07:54Another quick art tip.

0:07:59 > 0:08:00FROG CROAKS

0:08:03 > 0:08:05Wow. Do you hear that?

0:08:06 > 0:08:09Silence. It's stopped raining.

0:08:09 > 0:08:12I'm going to get out while the going's good.

0:08:12 > 0:08:13WATER RUNS

0:08:13 > 0:08:16Gavin, what are you doing?

0:08:16 > 0:08:19Sorry, mate. I thought, as it's sunny outside,

0:08:19 > 0:08:21I'd get out and water all the hanging baskets in the block.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23Turns out there's quite a lot.

0:08:23 > 0:08:26So you're telling me I've been stuck in all day

0:08:26 > 0:08:29and it hasn't even been raining?

0:08:29 > 0:08:30Um...yeah?

0:08:30 > 0:08:31HE SCREAMS

0:08:34 > 0:08:37Now go to the website and get YOUR ninja on!
