0:00:06 > 0:00:08And my clothes.

0:00:26 > 0:00:30Wow. I love this flat! It's so bright.

0:00:30 > 0:00:34Ninja murals, my trusty art table.

0:00:34 > 0:00:38This place is a part of me. I never leave it.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41It's what gives me my ninja skills.

0:00:41 > 0:00:42Hmm. What's this?

0:00:44 > 0:00:46Property for sale!

0:00:46 > 0:00:48Perfect art studio in the heart of Bristol.

0:00:48 > 0:00:52Well, can't hurt to have a look... just out of interest.

0:00:52 > 0:00:54Hey, look.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57Trendy sofa, lovely kitchen, and...

0:00:57 > 0:01:00Hang on a minute, that's my flat!

0:01:00 > 0:01:04The landlord's selling my flat. He can't do this to me!

0:01:04 > 0:01:05DIALS PHONE NUMBER

0:01:05 > 0:01:07BEEP BEEP Oh, he's not in.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10He's probably out selling flats without telling people.

0:01:10 > 0:01:14I'll leave a message. Hi, Landlord, it's Ricky.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17You need to come over here immediately. Love you!

0:01:17 > 0:01:20No, I mean... No, bye!

0:01:20 > 0:01:23The idea of this flat being sold makes me want to scream like this...

0:01:23 > 0:01:27HE SCREAMS

0:01:27 > 0:01:29I feel like my head is going to pop off.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31POP POP POP

0:01:31 > 0:01:34That does give me an idea to do some pop art!

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Selfie! HE SCREAMS

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Here we go. I'll just print that out.

0:01:40 > 0:01:41Like a ninja!

0:01:43 > 0:01:45I've got some acetate back here

0:01:45 > 0:01:48and I'm going to lay that sheet over my photograph

0:01:48 > 0:01:51and with a marker pen, draw my main facial features.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53Start with my glasses.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58You need to use a permanent marker to draw onto acetate,

0:01:58 > 0:02:01otherwise your pen marks might smudge.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Just colouring in the glasses.

0:02:03 > 0:02:04Here we go.

0:02:06 > 0:02:10Look at that. It's already looking really pop arty.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13To turn myself into pop art, I'm going to need some dots.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16So I'm going to need a hole punch to help me.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18A couple more.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22I'm just going to empty those dots out. Look at that.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25If I stick these red dots onto my acetate outline,

0:02:25 > 0:02:29I'll transform myself into a Roy Lichtenstein inspired picture.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33WHAM! It's me, Roy Lichtenstein!

0:02:33 > 0:02:35You scared me there, Roy.

0:02:35 > 0:02:41Ha-ha! I do like to pop art on people. Pop art? Get it?

0:02:41 > 0:02:45I used thick outlines, bold colours and I love drawing comic strips.

0:02:45 > 0:02:50I also used dots called Ben Day Dots based on printing techniques

0:02:50 > 0:02:52from the 19th century.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55My work looks like it was created by photographic reproduction

0:02:55 > 0:02:57and my work itself continues

0:02:57 > 0:03:00to be reproduced and copied to this day.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03So you won't mind if I make a homage to your work here then, Roy.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Here's to you.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10- Hey!- Sorry, Roy!

0:03:10 > 0:03:12OK, I've got some gridded paper

0:03:12 > 0:03:15under here and I'm going to put my acetate outline onto it.

0:03:15 > 0:03:16That will help me lay out my dots.

0:03:16 > 0:03:20Now I'm going to turn my acetate over so that when I put the dots on

0:03:20 > 0:03:21I don't have to redraw the lines,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24and I'm going to angle it ever so slightly diagonally

0:03:24 > 0:03:27because it's more in keeping with the way that Roy did his work.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30Now I'm going to start sticking them on.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32I'm using a cocktail stick because it can get

0:03:32 > 0:03:35a little bit fiddly and it gives me a lot more control.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38And I'm positioning these dots

0:03:38 > 0:03:41one square unit of the grid paper apart.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44PVA glue is good because it dries transparent.

0:03:46 > 0:03:47HIYAH-HA!

0:03:47 > 0:03:50That's the last dot done. Quick peek.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52Now I'm going to move on to some painting.

0:03:52 > 0:03:56And I'm using some bright primary colours just like Lichtenstein.

0:03:56 > 0:03:59A bit of red for my top. I've got some yellow. That's for my hair.

0:04:00 > 0:04:03And a bit of blue for the top of my shirt.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05All right, I'll start with the yellow.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08I'm using acrylic paint because it sticks better to acetate.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12Remember, I'm painting on the back here

0:04:12 > 0:04:14so it doesn't matter if I go over the lines.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18Now a bit of blue for my shirt. You don't have to use paint.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21You could use coloured markers. Finally, some red.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25I'm painting the acetate on top of some white paper.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28It's just easier to see where I'm painting.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31I think that's done. Let's check it out.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36Time for another selfie!

0:04:38 > 0:04:40I look a bit dotty.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42I'll just print that out.

0:04:42 > 0:04:43Ninja skills.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45Well worth a frame.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48There you go. A perfect pop art portrait.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56# Art Ninja! #

0:04:56 > 0:04:58KNOCK AT DOOR

0:04:58 > 0:05:00I think you're going to love this place.

0:05:00 > 0:05:02Just let yourselves in, why don't you(?)

0:05:02 > 0:05:04As the advert says, it's bijou

0:05:04 > 0:05:07but as you can see it's exciting and full of potential.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10This is the living room - perfect for living in.

0:05:10 > 0:05:11THEY LAUGH

0:05:11 > 0:05:14I could really see myself living here. It's very me.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Who are you guys?

0:05:16 > 0:05:18They look strangely familiar.

0:05:18 > 0:05:19This old table.

0:05:19 > 0:05:21You're going to want to get rid of this monstrosity.

0:05:21 > 0:05:23Ew, simply ghastly.

0:05:24 > 0:05:28- Yes, one will definitely be putting an offer in.- Splendid.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:05:32 > 0:05:34Ah! Some future ninjas.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Ricky, can you make art with an egg whisk?

0:05:37 > 0:05:39Not right now, my brain's a bit scrambled.

0:05:39 > 0:05:41AWW!

0:05:41 > 0:05:43BOTH: Hi, Ricky!

0:05:43 > 0:05:46Can you make art with sandpaper?

0:05:46 > 0:05:48All right. I choose you.

0:05:48 > 0:05:49BOTH: Yay!

0:05:49 > 0:05:52- What're your names? - I'm Nia.- I'm Mia.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55- And where're you guys from? - London.- London. Awesome.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57Using sandpaper, I'm going to make a smooth picture

0:05:57 > 0:05:59of a rough looking Viking.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03I've got some oil pastels and my sandpaper.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06I'm going to start off by drawing his Viking face

0:06:06 > 0:06:09and I'm going to give him a helmet.

0:06:09 > 0:06:11I've got a time travel app today.

0:06:11 > 0:06:15If you could travel anywhere in time, where would you go?

0:06:15 > 0:06:18- I'd go to the 3080s. - 3080. Why there then?

0:06:18 > 0:06:20To see if there's actually flying cars.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22Do you know what, I was there earlier.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25There's flying cars all over the place.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28I'm making sure I'm making very thick lines on the page

0:06:28 > 0:06:31with the oil pastels and getting a very thick cover.

0:06:31 > 0:06:34And I'm blending in the colours

0:06:34 > 0:06:36just so it flows nicely from dark to light.

0:06:36 > 0:06:39Give him some horns on his helmet so he's a proper Viking.

0:06:39 > 0:06:41Just putting some highlights.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44I'm going to go back in with some black

0:06:44 > 0:06:46and put in a bit of detail now.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52Here's how he's looking. BOTH: Wow!

0:06:52 > 0:06:54And now I'm going to do something

0:06:54 > 0:06:56that's going to make it look super old and mega-cool.

0:06:56 > 0:06:59I've got some baking paper here and I'm going to lay it down

0:06:59 > 0:07:03with the non-shiny side up, pop my picture on it...

0:07:04 > 0:07:07And here's the cool bit, believe it or not,

0:07:07 > 0:07:09because I'm going to go and do a spot of ironing.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11So I've got an iron set to medium heat.

0:07:11 > 0:07:13You need to be careful with irons

0:07:13 > 0:07:16so get an adult to help you or supervise.

0:07:16 > 0:07:18I'm going to put a tea towel over and that's to protect the iron

0:07:18 > 0:07:21and to make the heat disperse evenly across the picture.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24Slow and steady wins the race with this one.

0:07:24 > 0:07:27Now the heat will melt the oil pastel

0:07:27 > 0:07:30and transfer the picture to the baking paper.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33Just give it a little check to make sure it's transferring

0:07:33 > 0:07:35because it might need some more ironing.

0:07:36 > 0:07:38Oh, wow! Look at that.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41I'll just turn the iron off and let it cool down.

0:07:44 > 0:07:46Let's go and show those guys.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48OK so I've ironed my picture.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50Time to peel it off.

0:07:54 > 0:07:57Oh, yes. It looks super old and worn.

0:07:57 > 0:08:00- Do you want to check it out? - Yes, please.

0:08:00 > 0:08:01What do you make of that?

0:08:01 > 0:08:03BOTH: Wow!

0:08:03 > 0:08:06What would you score it?

0:08:06 > 0:08:08- 10 out of 10. - I think it deserves a frame.

0:08:11 > 0:08:14Look at that. It looks ancient. Great suggestion, guys.

0:08:14 > 0:08:17Thanks very much. ALL: Bye!

0:08:26 > 0:08:28# Art Ninja! #

0:08:37 > 0:08:40Fooled you, Ricky. It's me, Gavin.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43I was just pretending to be an estate agent.

0:08:43 > 0:08:44You mean what I think you mean?

0:08:44 > 0:08:47Yeah, the flat's not for sale. Only kidding, mate.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49Just my little joke.

0:08:49 > 0:08:50- HE LAUGHS - Your face!

0:08:50 > 0:08:55Very funny, Gavin. Now get out, you big practical joker.
