0:00:05 > 0:00:07Time to get my ninja on.

0:00:07 > 0:00:08And my clothes.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28An art ninja has a mastery of time.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32The art ninja cake clock.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35So, I'm going to start with a big sheet of card.

0:00:35 > 0:00:39I'm going to draw a circle on it using two pencils and some string.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42Poke a hole, like that, and then just draw around, like that.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44This is a great trick for drawing a circle.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46I'm just going to cut that out.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50There we go.

0:00:50 > 0:00:51I'm going to need two of those,

0:00:51 > 0:00:54- so I'll just ninja another one. - Hi-yah!

0:00:54 > 0:00:56I've cut the centre out of this one

0:00:56 > 0:00:58so I can put the clock mechanism in later.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00I've got a long strip of card here.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03I've made it about 5cm wide and that's just going to decide

0:01:03 > 0:01:04the height of my cake.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Another trick here to help you stick the strip

0:01:06 > 0:01:09around the circle is to pre-stick some masking tape

0:01:09 > 0:01:12on the underside of it, with a bit of it overlapping.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14This means you can roll round the card and, as you go around,

0:01:14 > 0:01:18just fold over the masking tape, stick it in place.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21Now, to put the top bit on,

0:01:21 > 0:01:24you can do a similar thing, but round the top.

0:01:26 > 0:01:27Last little bit there.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30That is the main structure of the cake done,

0:01:30 > 0:01:33but it needs to look like a cake, so I'm going to add some sponge.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37So I'm going to cut my sponge into strips with some ninja skills.

0:01:37 > 0:01:38Hi-yah!

0:01:38 > 0:01:41There we go. Now I'm going to stick these sponges

0:01:41 > 0:01:45around the side in two layers with some double-sided sticky tape.

0:01:52 > 0:01:53Just start placing them on.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56I'm going to use a bit of extra double-sided sticky tape

0:01:56 > 0:01:57between the ends of the sponge

0:01:57 > 0:02:00to make sure they stick together nicely.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07Then turn your cake over and repeat this process for the second layer.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10Now, I don't know about you, but I like my cake

0:02:10 > 0:02:12with a little bit of jam filling and, for that, I'm using some wool.

0:02:12 > 0:02:16So I've chopped up some bits of wool, and to make sure it stays

0:02:16 > 0:02:18on the inside, I'm just going to do a line of PVA

0:02:18 > 0:02:22between the two pieces of sponge for the wool to stick to.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25There we go. Start stuffing that jam in.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29Now, I don't know about you, but I'd like some icing,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31so I've got some pink and some white paint here,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34and I'm going to mix in with it some PVA glue to make it nice and sticky,

0:02:34 > 0:02:38and the PVA also means it dries kind of shiny, just like icing.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42I'm painting right up to the edges

0:02:42 > 0:02:46and I'm letting little bits dribble over so it looks like icing.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Now I'm going to add some nice white swirls.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51So I've got some slightly thinner paint that I've mixed with PVA.

0:02:51 > 0:02:55I'm going to dribble that on the top in a swirly pattern.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57All right, that's enough.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59Now I'm going to add some sprinkles

0:02:59 > 0:03:01and I'm using some coloured elastic bands.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03I'm going to chop these up with scissors,

0:03:03 > 0:03:06just to get them nice and small.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11There we go. Now I'm going to add some cream.

0:03:11 > 0:03:15And I'm going to do that by soaking some cotton wool in PVA glue

0:03:15 > 0:03:17and shaping them into dollops.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19Now, these lumps of cotton wool

0:03:19 > 0:03:21are going to be the markers for my hours.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23This first one here is going to be 12 o'clock.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26This one's going to be six o'clock.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28Nine o'clock. Three o'clock.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31And I'm going to fill in the other hours in between,

0:03:31 > 0:03:32equal distances apart.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34So I've done my main hour markers,

0:03:34 > 0:03:36but now I need the minutes and for that

0:03:36 > 0:03:39I've used a similar technique as making the dollops of cream,

0:03:39 > 0:03:42but this time I've mixed the cotton wool and PVA glue with some paint

0:03:42 > 0:03:45to make these lovely coloured balls of icing.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51Just counting down the final minutes.

0:03:51 > 0:03:53It's looking great, but I need to wait for it to dry

0:03:53 > 0:03:57before I put the mechanism in. No, I won't, cos I'm a ninja!

0:03:57 > 0:03:58Hi-yah!

0:03:58 > 0:04:00Here we go.

0:04:00 > 0:04:01Now I need to add the mechanism.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03You can buy these from all good craft shops

0:04:03 > 0:04:05or you can buy them online pretty cheap.

0:04:05 > 0:04:07So, I'm going to attach this to the back of my clock.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09I'm going to poke it through the hole

0:04:09 > 0:04:11that I made right at the beginning.

0:04:11 > 0:04:16I've cut out a spoon and a fork to be my hour and my minute hand,

0:04:16 > 0:04:18just out of some silver card.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20I've got double-sided sticky tape on the back

0:04:20 > 0:04:22and I'm going to push them onto the mechanism.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24That's the hour hand.

0:04:24 > 0:04:26Minute hand.

0:04:27 > 0:04:31And then the last little bit to hold them in place.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33There we go. It looks amazing.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36My clock is finished, and it was a piece of cake.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38Time to hang it on the wall.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41Now, I've made mine to Mum's special recipe,

0:04:41 > 0:04:43but you can try some other ideas.

0:04:43 > 0:04:47How about one with some nice patterned icing?

0:04:47 > 0:04:50Or...a lovely chocolate gateau?

0:04:50 > 0:04:54Enough of Ricky's fake Bake Off - it's time to clock off.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17Whoa, is this magic?

0:05:17 > 0:05:19No, it's just an animation,

0:05:19 > 0:05:20so let's shed some light on.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22If you don't want to be left in the dark,

0:05:22 > 0:05:24you will need a light or some big torches,

0:05:24 > 0:05:26a sheet and somewhere to hang it,

0:05:26 > 0:05:29some friends and a tablet with an animation app included.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32And you can put it together in just three ninja moves.

0:05:32 > 0:05:33Ninja move number one.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36So, you need to hang your sheet up and back-light it,

0:05:36 > 0:05:39then set up your tablet app, ready to shoot.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42Now, this animation works better when the lights are off,

0:05:42 > 0:05:45even better at night-time. Ninja move number two.

0:05:45 > 0:05:47The next thing you need to do is work with your group of mates

0:05:47 > 0:05:50to come up with some awesome animation ideas.

0:05:50 > 0:05:51Think about how you can work as a team,

0:05:51 > 0:05:53maybe do something that's completely inhuman,

0:05:53 > 0:05:56and look around and find some cool props.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59Got any ideas, guys?

0:05:59 > 0:06:00- Yes.- Tonnes of 'em.- A few.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05Ninja move number three.

0:06:05 > 0:06:06It's time to start shooting.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09Now, we're going to do a really cool trick here

0:06:09 > 0:06:11that makes it look like Andre is duplicating.

0:06:11 > 0:06:13Because we're shooting onto a sheet, and there's no depth,

0:06:13 > 0:06:16we can hide people behind him and have them step out

0:06:16 > 0:06:19at the right time. It's like he's copying himself.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21Right, let's get on with it.

0:06:21 > 0:06:25For each move, take a shot using the animation app on your tablet

0:06:25 > 0:06:29and then move the scene along by one small step, and take another shot.

0:06:33 > 0:06:35OK. I've sliced and diced the animation.

0:06:35 > 0:06:39Hey, guys, I think it's time to take a look at our new masterpiece.

0:06:41 > 0:06:42Here we go.

0:06:51 > 0:06:53Nice work, guys.

0:06:53 > 0:06:54Whoo!

0:06:58 > 0:06:59Hey, you there!

0:07:00 > 0:07:01Nothing on TV?

0:07:01 > 0:07:03Nothing I want to watch.

0:07:03 > 0:07:07Can't disguise your distaste for annoying TV personalities?

0:07:07 > 0:07:09You could say that.

0:07:09 > 0:07:10I just did!

0:07:10 > 0:07:15Now you can make a disguise with a straw mouth.

0:07:15 > 0:07:16HE SLURPS

0:07:16 > 0:07:18Ahh! Tasty!

0:07:18 > 0:07:21And here's how you make it.

0:07:21 > 0:07:26You'll need a piece of card...and a pen.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30Draw yourself a funny mouth.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36Colour in the inside of your mouth.

0:07:37 > 0:07:39Not that one!

0:07:43 > 0:07:45Now add some more colour.

0:07:45 > 0:07:46Red.

0:07:48 > 0:07:52I'm good at colouring inside the lines.

0:07:52 > 0:07:53DIS GUY's annoying.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56The DISGUISE is cool, though.

0:07:56 > 0:07:59Now cut it out with scissors.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05With a pencil and modelling clay,

0:08:05 > 0:08:07pierce a hole big enough for a straw.

0:08:09 > 0:08:11Now take a straw and poke it through the hole,

0:08:11 > 0:08:14with the mouth facing away from you.

0:08:17 > 0:08:20You could try many different disguises.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22Vampire disguise.

0:08:23 > 0:08:24Grr!

0:08:24 > 0:08:25Beauty disguise.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28HE KISSES

0:08:30 > 0:08:31Or...

0:08:33 > 0:08:34..haw-hee-haw?

0:08:34 > 0:08:37You thought I had a moustache, didn't you?

0:08:37 > 0:08:39Disguises!

0:08:39 > 0:08:43The disguise straw - no-one need know you're grumpy again.

0:08:43 > 0:08:45Ricky, I mean you!

0:08:45 > 0:08:47What did you just say?

0:08:47 > 0:08:50- Really, I mean you!- Oh.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56Now go to the website and get your ninja on.

0:08:59 > 0:09:01Art Ninja!
