0:00:05 > 0:00:07It's a new day.
0:00:07 > 0:00:08I'd better get my ninja on.
0:00:10 > 0:00:11And my clothes!
0:00:27 > 0:00:29Having ninja skills is cool.
0:00:29 > 0:00:31As cool as...
0:00:31 > 0:00:34the Art Ninja ice cream pinata. Arriba!
0:00:34 > 0:00:36It's just as mouthwatering as a real ice cream.
0:00:36 > 0:00:39So I'm going to start with a nice big bit of card.
0:00:39 > 0:00:41And I'm going to draw out my ice cream shape.
0:00:41 > 0:00:44Some nice, round, bubbly ice cream.
0:00:46 > 0:00:47The chocolate stick there.
0:00:47 > 0:00:49And then complete the cone.
0:00:50 > 0:00:54A pinata is a decorated container that you hit to release sweets.
0:00:54 > 0:00:56But you know that, right?
0:00:56 > 0:00:57I'm using quite thick card here,
0:00:57 > 0:01:00as I want getting those sweets out to be a bit of a challenge.
0:01:02 > 0:01:03I'm going to need two of these.
0:01:03 > 0:01:05So I ninja another one.
0:01:05 > 0:01:07Lovely.
0:01:07 > 0:01:08I've cut some strips of card.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10They're about ten centimetres in width.
0:01:10 > 0:01:13And these are going to be the sides of my ice cream.
0:01:13 > 0:01:16I'm putting them together using sticky tape.
0:01:16 > 0:01:18Going to start from that little edge there.
0:01:21 > 0:01:24You don't want to use too much tape, as then it might be too strong
0:01:24 > 0:01:27and you won't be able to get any sweets out of it.
0:01:27 > 0:01:29And now I'm starting to go around the top of the ice cream,
0:01:29 > 0:01:32so I'm just curling around these pieces of card
0:01:32 > 0:01:34to help them bend round those parts.
0:01:36 > 0:01:38If you're finding this bit quite tricky,
0:01:38 > 0:01:39just get someone to give you a hand.
0:01:42 > 0:01:44Now, before I put on the other side,
0:01:44 > 0:01:45I need to make a hole so I can hang it up.
0:01:45 > 0:01:48So I put a bit of clay down to protect the table.
0:01:48 > 0:01:50Get some string here, pop it through,
0:01:50 > 0:01:51and I'm going to tie a nice big knot
0:01:51 > 0:01:54so it doesn't slide back through the hole I've made.
0:01:54 > 0:01:55There we go.
0:01:55 > 0:01:56Now I can stick on the top piece.
0:02:01 > 0:02:03We're not going all the way round the top of this chocolate stick,
0:02:03 > 0:02:05cos that's going to be where I put the sweets in.
0:02:05 > 0:02:07I've left a little flap here to open and close.
0:02:07 > 0:02:08And now I can decorate it,
0:02:08 > 0:02:10with some tissue paper.
0:02:10 > 0:02:11I've cut it into strips
0:02:11 > 0:02:14and I'm going to make them into repeated patterns.
0:02:14 > 0:02:16So we fold it in half, half again...
0:02:18 > 0:02:19In half again.
0:02:19 > 0:02:21Just going to cut round one end to make it curved.
0:02:22 > 0:02:26And this yellow one will become the ice cream cone.
0:02:26 > 0:02:29And I folded this so that when I unravel it
0:02:29 > 0:02:31I've got the same pattern going all the way along.
0:02:31 > 0:02:33And now I'm going to do a similar thing with the other two colours,
0:02:33 > 0:02:36but a slightly different pattern.
0:02:36 > 0:02:39This is going to give me a nice wavy line for some sauce.
0:02:39 > 0:02:40Last, and certainly not least,
0:02:40 > 0:02:42the white is going to become the ice cream.
0:02:42 > 0:02:46Cut some slits up the side of it, about halfway up.
0:02:47 > 0:02:49Lovely fluffy ice cream.
0:02:49 > 0:02:52I need loads of these to cover my ice cream.
0:02:52 > 0:02:53So I ninja some more.
0:02:56 > 0:02:57I'm going to start with the yellow
0:02:57 > 0:02:59as that's going to be my ice cream cone.
0:03:03 > 0:03:05As I stick these down I'm overlapping them
0:03:05 > 0:03:07to give a feathered effect.
0:03:11 > 0:03:13OK, now I'm going to move on to the ice cream.
0:03:13 > 0:03:17I want it to be lower at one end, so it looks like it's spiralling round.
0:03:20 > 0:03:22Time to add some strawberry sauce.
0:03:22 > 0:03:25And I'm sticking these down between the layers of the ice cream.
0:03:32 > 0:03:34I've got some brown tissue paper for the chocolate.
0:03:34 > 0:03:36As I'm sticking this down I'm creasing it
0:03:36 > 0:03:37to give it the texture of chocolate.
0:03:37 > 0:03:39Remember, you don't want to seal this bit.
0:03:39 > 0:03:42Now I can fill it full of sweets.
0:03:42 > 0:03:43Mmm-mmm!
0:03:48 > 0:03:49Now I can hang it up.
0:03:52 > 0:03:53Beautiful.
0:03:53 > 0:03:54Right...
0:03:54 > 0:03:56I'm off to go and get something to hit it with.
0:04:02 > 0:04:03Time to hit the pinata.
0:04:12 > 0:04:13Don't fancy an ice cream?
0:04:13 > 0:04:15Here are some other sweet designs.
0:04:15 > 0:04:16A lovely flamingo.
0:04:17 > 0:04:19And a beautiful beehive,
0:04:19 > 0:04:21complete with buzzy bees.
0:04:25 > 0:04:27Here's something equally tasty.
0:04:27 > 0:04:29But I wouldn't eat it.
0:04:29 > 0:04:30What can I help you with?
0:04:30 > 0:04:32Ricky, can you make art with a mirror?
0:04:32 > 0:04:34I can't see myself doing that, not today.
0:04:34 > 0:04:36Aw...
0:04:36 > 0:04:37- BOTH:- Hi, Ricky.
0:04:37 > 0:04:39Hey, it's Sam and Mark.
0:04:39 > 0:04:40No wind-ups, all right?
0:04:40 > 0:04:43We just wondered if you could make something out of these eggs.
0:04:43 > 0:04:44Here, catch!
0:04:46 > 0:04:48Oh... I knew it was a rubber egg!
0:04:48 > 0:04:51Anyway, I can't make anything with this. Are you having a laugh?
0:04:51 > 0:04:52Erm...yeah.
0:04:52 > 0:04:54That's kind of what we do.
0:04:54 > 0:04:55Fair enough.
0:04:56 > 0:04:58- BOTH:- Ricky!
0:04:58 > 0:05:00What have these guys got?
0:05:00 > 0:05:03Ricky, can you make art with this oil?
0:05:03 > 0:05:04OK.
0:05:04 > 0:05:05I choose you.
0:05:05 > 0:05:09Yay!
0:05:09 > 0:05:10What are your names?
0:05:10 > 0:05:11I am Emily.
0:05:11 > 0:05:14And I am Lilian.
0:05:14 > 0:05:15Nice to meet you, guys. And where are you from?
0:05:15 > 0:05:17- Wales.- Oh, lovely.
0:05:17 > 0:05:19I'm going to grab a few more things.
0:05:19 > 0:05:21I'll be right back.
0:05:21 > 0:05:22Right, guys.
0:05:22 > 0:05:25I've got a piece of paper, a couple of bowls and some cotton buds,
0:05:25 > 0:05:28and a little bit of kitchen towel. Let's put that over there.
0:05:28 > 0:05:31And I've also got some colouring pencils and a pen,
0:05:31 > 0:05:35cos I'm going to do a still life of this bowl of fruit.
0:05:35 > 0:05:39So I'm going to start by drawing a sketchy line drawing of the bowl.
0:05:39 > 0:05:41So, do you guys like to do art?
0:05:41 > 0:05:42- BOTH:- Yeah.
0:05:42 > 0:05:43What kind of thing do you do?
0:05:43 > 0:05:45I drew a wolf, once.
0:05:45 > 0:05:47A wolf is my favourite animal.
0:05:48 > 0:05:51When you're drawing still life, it's always important to look
0:05:51 > 0:05:53more at your subject than you do at your paper.
0:05:53 > 0:05:54It's all about studying it.
0:05:57 > 0:05:59Now, I'm using pen to do my sketch,
0:05:59 > 0:06:01and you'll find out why later.
0:06:01 > 0:06:03OK, guys, do you want to see how the sketch is looking so far?
0:06:03 > 0:06:05- BOTH:- Yes, please.
0:06:05 > 0:06:07Here you go.
0:06:07 > 0:06:09Whoa...
0:06:09 > 0:06:10You think it looks good now?
0:06:10 > 0:06:13Well, it's going to look even better when I've added some colour.
0:06:13 > 0:06:14That is art!
0:06:14 > 0:06:15Thanks, guys.
0:06:15 > 0:06:17These are just normal colouring pencils,
0:06:17 > 0:06:20and I'm just going to scruffily add some colour.
0:06:20 > 0:06:22What fruit should I do next?
0:06:22 > 0:06:23- Orange.- Grapes.
0:06:23 > 0:06:25- Orange!- Grapes!
0:06:25 > 0:06:26Why don't I try and do both?
0:06:26 > 0:06:29- Yeah!- Yeah!
0:06:29 > 0:06:30Double handed colouring!
0:06:30 > 0:06:32Risky!
0:06:32 > 0:06:34Starting with the lighter colour on the orange,
0:06:34 > 0:06:37and I'm just giving the bottom parts of the grapes a little bit of shadow
0:06:37 > 0:06:40there, and I'm going to come back with the lighter one on that one.
0:06:40 > 0:06:42OK, I'm going to go back to one-handed.
0:06:42 > 0:06:44Going to add some darker orange.
0:06:44 > 0:06:46And I'm just really sketchily doing it,
0:06:46 > 0:06:49because I've got a trick up my sleeve with that oil.
0:06:50 > 0:06:53So I'm adding a lot of different colours that you wouldn't
0:06:53 > 0:06:54think you'd find on here.
0:06:54 > 0:06:57But if you look very closely, there are little bits of blue
0:06:57 > 0:06:59and purple in parts of the pineapple.
0:06:59 > 0:07:02It's surprising what colours are hiding in there.
0:07:02 > 0:07:04You're doing it so arty!
0:07:04 > 0:07:05- Yeah.- And cool.
0:07:05 > 0:07:08I'm really hoping it's going to be pretty cool.
0:07:08 > 0:07:10So now I've coloured in my picture with pencils,
0:07:10 > 0:07:11it's time to use the oil.
0:07:13 > 0:07:15This oil is not for babies today.
0:07:16 > 0:07:18I'm going to use little cotton buds.
0:07:18 > 0:07:21I'm going to dip it in the oil,
0:07:21 > 0:07:22get the excess oil off,
0:07:22 > 0:07:26and then I'm going to start fading and blending in the colours.
0:07:26 > 0:07:28All the separate sketchy colours are now blending in,
0:07:28 > 0:07:30all nice and smooth,
0:07:30 > 0:07:31giving it a lovely paint effect.
0:07:35 > 0:07:37And when I'm changing colours,
0:07:37 > 0:07:39I'm using either the other end of the cotton bud
0:07:39 > 0:07:43or a new cotton bud, so you don't smudge the colours together.
0:07:43 > 0:07:45And the reason I used a permanent pen earlier
0:07:45 > 0:07:47is because the oil doesn't make the ink run.
0:07:48 > 0:07:51So I'm making my way down the pineapple now.
0:07:51 > 0:07:54And all the other sort of colours you wouldn't expect to see there
0:07:54 > 0:07:58are blending in nicely to create shadows and some highlights.
0:08:00 > 0:08:04Now I'm just finishing up by just blending in the bowl.
0:08:04 > 0:08:06OK, girls, are you ready to see it?
0:08:06 > 0:08:08- BOTH:- Yeah.
0:08:08 > 0:08:09What do you make of this?
0:08:11 > 0:08:13It's really cool!
0:08:13 > 0:08:14Ah, yeah!
0:08:14 > 0:08:16Do you know what? I'm so happy with it,
0:08:16 > 0:08:18I think it deserves a frame.
0:08:18 > 0:08:21So, what would you guys give it out of 10?
0:08:21 > 0:08:25We give it a bunch of tens!
0:08:25 > 0:08:26Oh, like a bunch of grapes!
0:08:26 > 0:08:29I "vitamin C" what you did there!
0:08:29 > 0:08:32Thanks for your suggestion, guys. You've been awesome! Bye-bye!
0:08:32 > 0:08:35Bye, Ricky!
0:08:43 > 0:08:47Now go to the website, and get YOUR ninja on!
0:08:50 > 0:08:51Art Ninja!
