0:00:16 > 0:00:19- # And a woman with a beard - What?

0:00:19 > 0:00:24# Officially, Officially, Officially, Officially Amazing. #

0:00:32 > 0:00:36Hello, I'm Ben Shires and welcome to Officially Amazing.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Where is he?

0:00:42 > 0:00:43Never mind, I'll have to do his line -

0:00:43 > 0:00:46it's the show that brings you the most incredible records

0:00:46 > 0:00:48and record attempts from around the world.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50CAR ENGINE APPROACHING

0:00:52 > 0:00:55Ha! What time do you call this?

0:00:55 > 0:00:56Sorry, sorry got held up.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Here's what's coming up on today's show.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04Today's harebrained

0:01:04 > 0:01:09and Officially Amazing Guinness World Record attempts include...

0:01:09 > 0:01:12Our Officially Competitive heroes take each other on in another

0:01:12 > 0:01:14global record-breaking battle.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16This time, it's star jumps.

0:01:18 > 0:01:23This hirsute hero does something weirdy with his beardy.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25But not easy-peasy.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28Haruka sees if this bloke can set a record catching tennis balls

0:01:28 > 0:01:29with a boxing glove.

0:01:31 > 0:01:32But first...

0:01:37 > 0:01:40COUGHING

0:01:40 > 0:01:45Once upon a time, in a kingdom very similar to this one,

0:01:45 > 0:01:49two heroes born of the same mother set a world record that they

0:01:49 > 0:01:51thought would never be broken.

0:01:51 > 0:01:57But far, far away in a mystical land known only as Germany,

0:01:57 > 0:02:01a new hero was born, a man who had similar parallel-parking powers

0:02:01 > 0:02:05to that of the Moffatt brothers, and cruelly took their record from them.

0:02:05 > 0:02:11But no-one takes the title of tightest parallel parkers away from

0:02:11 > 0:02:14the Moffatt brothers without a fight on their hands.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17They're here and they want their record back.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24These are the Moffatt brothers -

0:02:24 > 0:02:26Alastair and his little brother John.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29They're both champion stunt car drivers

0:02:29 > 0:02:31and parallel parking professionals.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36Parallel parking means driving a car into a space between two

0:02:36 > 0:02:37parked vehicles.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40And the tightest parallel park is the smallest space you can

0:02:40 > 0:02:41fit a car into.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44When they set the record on the last series, the Moffatts managed

0:02:44 > 0:02:49to park in a space just 13.1cm longer than their cars.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53But since then, German driver Ronny Wechselberger smashed

0:02:53 > 0:02:58their record when he squeezed into a gap just 10cm bigger than his car.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01Today, the Moffatt brothers are going for a record

0:03:01 > 0:03:03they hope can never be beaten,

0:03:03 > 0:03:09aiming to get into a space just 8.6cm longer than their car.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11That's about the length of a pencil after you've

0:03:11 > 0:03:14chewed about a third of it off.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Let's see if they can win back their record.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Here are the rules - using all their driving skill,

0:03:19 > 0:03:23the Moffatt boys must slide their car into the parking space

0:03:23 > 0:03:26without touching the white line that indicates the kerb,

0:03:26 > 0:03:28or either of the parked cars.

0:03:28 > 0:03:32The tarmac is so hot and sticky, they're using water to make

0:03:32 > 0:03:34it possible to slide the car in sideways.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38Remember, they only have 8.6cm to play with.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41First things first, chaps, who's going to go first?

0:03:41 > 0:03:44And I think the only proper, brotherly way to do

0:03:44 > 0:03:46that would be rock, paper, scissors.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48You happy?

0:03:48 > 0:03:49Yeah, OK.

0:03:49 > 0:03:50After three...

0:03:50 > 0:03:52One, two, three...

0:03:55 > 0:03:57It looks like it's you, Alastair.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59Off you go, sir.

0:03:59 > 0:04:01Alastair starts with a few practice runs,

0:04:01 > 0:04:04trying to spin his car into a much bigger space than he'll be

0:04:04 > 0:04:07trying to get it into for the actual attempt.

0:04:12 > 0:04:13But it's not going well.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17It's not sliding that well, is it?

0:04:17 > 0:04:19How's it looking, Alastair?

0:04:19 > 0:04:22It's pretty grippy, even with the little sprinkler.

0:04:22 > 0:04:23We've got the sprinklers on.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25- It's a hot, hot day.- It's a hot day.

0:04:25 > 0:04:29Well, we've only got this afternoon, so fingers crossed.

0:04:29 > 0:04:33Time is short and Alastair must start his official attempt.

0:04:33 > 0:04:35The cars are brought together, the distance between them

0:04:35 > 0:04:41measured precisely, only 8.6cm longer than the car he's driving.

0:04:41 > 0:04:43Alastair really struggled in his practice runs,

0:04:43 > 0:04:45can he do it for real?

0:04:45 > 0:04:48Here comes Alastair for his first attempt.

0:04:48 > 0:04:52No-one has ever parallel parked into a space this small before.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Is it even possible?

0:05:03 > 0:05:05Oh!

0:05:05 > 0:05:07That looks nice!

0:05:10 > 0:05:13Alastair, you are as cool as a cucumber here!

0:05:13 > 0:05:15Why? What's the problem?

0:05:15 > 0:05:16Look at this man.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18He might have just broken a record.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Official adjudicator Mark checks the cars are not touching

0:05:21 > 0:05:25and that the white line has not been crossed.

0:05:25 > 0:05:27Could Alastair have done it first time?

0:05:27 > 0:05:29You've had a check of his first attempt, Mark,

0:05:29 > 0:05:31how does it look to you?

0:05:31 > 0:05:33Well, it looks OK at the back.

0:05:33 > 0:05:37I've checked the distance between the Mini and the kerb and it's

0:05:37 > 0:05:39within the limits and at 8.6cm,

0:05:39 > 0:05:43that is a brand-new Guinness World Records title!

0:05:46 > 0:05:47Look at that!

0:05:51 > 0:05:53Oh!

0:05:53 > 0:05:56Incredible! After failing miserably in practice,

0:05:56 > 0:06:01Alastair Moffatt has set a new world record on his first attempt,

0:06:01 > 0:06:05knocking 1.4cm off the old record.

0:06:05 > 0:06:06We'll be back to see

0:06:06 > 0:06:09if little brother John can repeat the feat, no pressure, John,

0:06:09 > 0:06:13and to see the brothers attempt a new world record -

0:06:13 > 0:06:16two cars parallel parked in the same space.

0:06:16 > 0:06:18But first...

0:06:30 > 0:06:35In the last series, we met some seriously hungry record breakers.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38But this time, we're taking it to the next level.

0:06:38 > 0:06:43We scoured the globe to find three record-breaking gladiators.

0:06:43 > 0:06:44In every show,

0:06:44 > 0:06:48they will attempt to break a record that you can try at home.

0:06:48 > 0:06:52They are Officially Competitive!

0:06:52 > 0:06:55Representing the UK, it's...

0:06:57 > 0:06:59Sizzlin' Steve.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02Last series, he broke two records and this time,

0:07:02 > 0:07:03he's hankering for more.

0:07:05 > 0:07:07- You feeling confident?- No.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09Right.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12Representing Japan is mild-mannered Cherry Yoshitaki.

0:07:15 > 0:07:16He loves breaking records

0:07:16 > 0:07:19almost as much as he loves wearing silver underpants.

0:07:20 > 0:07:26Last, but by no means least, is the pocket-rocket, US Ray.

0:07:26 > 0:07:29The man who holds the record of all records -

0:07:29 > 0:07:31back-flipping into a pair of trousers.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36Previously, the challenge for our three recordteers was to

0:07:36 > 0:07:40move as much water as possible with their hands in 30 seconds.

0:07:41 > 0:07:45They all produced valiant efforts, well, some of them did...

0:07:45 > 0:07:46Try and get it in the tube, yeah.

0:07:46 > 0:07:52But Cherry was victorious and got himself a new world record to boot.

0:07:52 > 0:07:53First blood to Japan.

0:07:53 > 0:07:57Today's high-octane challenge is a high-flying contest

0:07:57 > 0:07:59and we start in the USA,

0:07:59 > 0:08:02as our warriors go head-to-head in a battle of...

0:08:05 > 0:08:08US Ray's used to breaking acrobatic records,

0:08:08 > 0:08:10but can he do it for America today?

0:08:10 > 0:08:13Can he be a superstar star jumper?

0:08:13 > 0:08:16I caught up with my man for a motivational pep-talk.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19It seems like the star jumps are tailor-made for you, US Ray,

0:08:19 > 0:08:23do you think you have this in the bag?

0:08:23 > 0:08:24- I got this in the bag.- You got it?

0:08:24 > 0:08:27- It's mine.- All right. Even though you're just doing a star jump,

0:08:27 > 0:08:29is there anything that can go wrong?

0:08:29 > 0:08:31Something can go wrong - it may not be a physical thing,

0:08:31 > 0:08:34but a lot of these things, it's more mental than physical.

0:08:34 > 0:08:35It's what you tell your body to do,

0:08:35 > 0:08:38so, for me, it's more just staying focused.

0:08:38 > 0:08:41Right. Well, if there's anybody I know that's got focus, it's you.

0:08:41 > 0:08:45We got this in the bag. US Ray, get this record.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47All right. Thank you.

0:08:47 > 0:08:48For a star jump to be valid...

0:08:54 > 0:08:56..like a star!

0:08:56 > 0:08:59Remember, you can do this at home, just do me a favour -

0:08:59 > 0:09:02don't do it near the TV.

0:09:02 > 0:09:05Time for US Ray to get it done for the USA.

0:09:05 > 0:09:08Three, two, one - go.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13Look at that speed! I promise we haven't sped this up.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16We can slow it down though.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19Wow! Plenty of star jumps from the land of stars and stripes.

0:09:21 > 0:09:22Come on, US Ray.

0:09:22 > 0:09:25US Ray! US Ray!

0:09:25 > 0:09:27US Ray!

0:09:27 > 0:09:31SPED-UP VOICE: US Ray! US Ray! Come on.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34Keep it going, Ray, you can do it. CLEARS THROAT

0:09:34 > 0:09:37NORMAL VOICE: He's got to be getting tired now,

0:09:37 > 0:09:39but what amazing technique.

0:09:39 > 0:09:43- Stop.- Yeah! All right! Whoo!

0:09:43 > 0:09:45I think I got tired just watching you.

0:09:45 > 0:09:48We'll find out how many jumps Ray did in a moment.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51He looked very fast, but then, he is a natural athlete.

0:09:51 > 0:09:54Sizzlin' Steve, in the UK, is not.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56Come on, superstar, you can do this.

0:09:56 > 0:10:00Both he and Mr Cherry have their work cut out.

0:10:00 > 0:10:01It's number one!

0:10:01 > 0:10:03- Three...- Two...

0:10:03 > 0:10:04One.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06Star jump.

0:10:06 > 0:10:07And they're off.

0:10:07 > 0:10:10The current record is 70 star jumps in a minute.

0:10:10 > 0:10:11Can they beat it?

0:10:12 > 0:10:15A thing of near beauty.

0:10:16 > 0:10:17Near, but not quite.

0:10:19 > 0:10:24Has Steve read the rules? They don't look like proper star jumps to me.

0:10:24 > 0:10:25Oh, Steve!

0:10:25 > 0:10:28Oh, no! Disaster for Sizzlin' Steve.

0:10:28 > 0:10:32Only 30 seconds in and The Sizzler has fizzled.

0:10:34 > 0:10:36But Mr Cherry is giving it his all,

0:10:36 > 0:10:39and I'm helping out by laughing at him.

0:10:39 > 0:10:42His star jumps aren't exactly graceful,

0:10:42 > 0:10:46but what he lacks in ability, he makes up for in enthusiasm.

0:10:46 > 0:10:50Remember, straight arms, back and legs, Mr Cherry.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53He's getting tired - his technique's deserted him.

0:10:56 > 0:10:58Stop! Time's up.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02He can always rely on my support.

0:11:02 > 0:11:04He is hilarious.

0:11:04 > 0:11:08So who's won, and do we have a new world record?

0:11:08 > 0:11:11In 3rd place - no surprises, it's the UK.

0:11:11 > 0:11:14Sizzlin' Steve's jumps were all disqualified.

0:11:14 > 0:11:16Sorry, Steve, but that was useless.

0:11:16 > 0:11:22In 2nd place was...Japan, with just 12 legal star jumps.

0:11:22 > 0:11:2412!

0:11:24 > 0:11:26Sadly, Mr Cherry's back wasn't straight

0:11:26 > 0:11:30enough for most of his efforts, so they weren't counted.

0:11:30 > 0:11:32That makes US Ray the clear winner

0:11:32 > 0:11:35of this Officially Competitive challenge.

0:11:35 > 0:11:38But has he done enough to break the world record?

0:11:39 > 0:11:42The record to beat today was 70 jumps.

0:11:43 > 0:11:47Your attempt had a complete total of...

0:11:51 > 0:11:56..77 jumps, so you've achieved a new Guinness World Records title!

0:11:56 > 0:12:00All right, US Ray, that's more than one star jump every second.

0:12:00 > 0:12:04That puts him level with Mr Cherry after two challenges.

0:12:04 > 0:12:07The boys will be back to fight it out next time in...

0:12:07 > 0:12:08Officially Competitive.

0:12:09 > 0:12:11Yeah!

0:12:17 > 0:12:20To Italy now, where Gandalf from Lord Of The Rings in a cowboy hat

0:12:20 > 0:12:23is going to attempt the record.

0:12:23 > 0:12:27This is Lithuanian Antanas Kontrimas, who, along with his impressive beard

0:12:27 > 0:12:31and glamorous assistant, is here to attempt a record.

0:12:31 > 0:12:32But what record is it?

0:12:39 > 0:12:42Well, the answer is...heaviest weight lifted by a beard.

0:12:42 > 0:12:45And he's going to lift her! All right!

0:12:45 > 0:12:49To prepare for the lift, Antanas has to get her into a specially designed

0:12:49 > 0:12:53beard-lifting harness, available at all good beard-lifting harness shops.

0:12:53 > 0:12:56Now, I know it's impolite to talk about people's weight,

0:12:56 > 0:12:59but as this record is all about weight, we need to.

0:12:59 > 0:13:05She weighs 63.5kg, which is the equivalent to, um...

0:13:05 > 0:13:07The equivalent to...

0:13:07 > 0:13:09an Italian lady dressed up as a cowgirl!

0:13:09 > 0:13:12Antanas needs to lift her up for at least five seconds

0:13:12 > 0:13:14with his beard to break the record.

0:13:14 > 0:13:18That is some serious beard power.

0:13:18 > 0:13:20And that is a bold look!

0:13:20 > 0:13:23Kids, even if by some miracle of nature you do have a beard,

0:13:23 > 0:13:24don't try this at home.

0:13:30 > 0:13:31He's done it!

0:13:31 > 0:13:33Antanas has whiskers of steel.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36Look at him go - he's like an angry garden gnome.

0:13:36 > 0:13:38But then again, I guess you'd be angry too

0:13:38 > 0:13:40if somebody was hanging from your beard.

0:13:40 > 0:13:42And he goes in for a hug.

0:13:44 > 0:13:45And another?

0:13:45 > 0:13:47Well done, Antanas, that is

0:13:47 > 0:13:53officially the heaviest weight ever lifted by a human beard - 63.5kg.

0:13:53 > 0:13:59Officially weirdy, officially beardy and definitely Officially Amazing.

0:13:59 > 0:14:03And now for a song about a man who eats records for breakfast.

0:14:07 > 0:14:08# Ashrita the world beater

0:14:08 > 0:14:10# Ashrita the world beater

0:14:10 > 0:14:13# He'll defeat ya, not a cheater

0:14:13 > 0:14:14# Ashrita the world beater

0:14:14 > 0:14:19# Yo, it's time for a story, 'bout a dude who deserves some glory

0:14:19 > 0:14:22# Ashrita Furman's his name, and record breaking's his game

0:14:22 > 0:14:25# He holds more records than anyone ever has at one time

0:14:25 > 0:14:27# Let me tell you about him in rhyme

0:14:27 > 0:14:29# Ain't no-one tasted so many victories sweeter

0:14:29 > 0:14:30# Than the man they call Ashrita

0:14:30 > 0:14:33# Most bananas snapped in a minute

0:14:33 > 0:14:34# In that bit of time he snapped 99

0:14:34 > 0:14:36# He's done things you never would have thoughta

0:14:36 > 0:14:38# Even broken records under water

0:14:38 > 0:14:40# Like jump more than 500 metres on a pogo stick

0:14:40 > 0:14:43# Or do the longest hula-hoop, yeah, he's pretty slick

0:14:43 > 0:14:45# Come on, people, give the guy his dues

0:14:45 > 0:14:47# He walked in the world's heaviest shoes

0:14:47 > 0:14:50# 146.5 kilos in weight, his weary feet can't have felt too great

0:14:50 > 0:14:53# I'm just getting going, there ain't no stopping

0:14:53 > 0:14:55# He's also got a record for space hopping

0:14:55 > 0:14:57# He hopped till he dropped and he did it in style

0:14:57 > 0:14:59# In 24 hours he bounced a massive five miles

0:14:59 > 0:15:01# Now, you and me run, but not like him

0:15:01 > 0:15:03# He ran the fastest mile wearing swimming fins

0:15:03 > 0:15:05# Breaking records makes him happy, I suppose

0:15:05 > 0:15:07# Why else push an orange a mile with your nose?

0:15:07 > 0:15:09# In that particular world record pursuit

0:15:09 > 0:15:11# Took him just over 22 minutes to push that fruit

0:15:11 > 0:15:13# And if you think orange-nudging with your nose is wrong

0:15:13 > 0:15:15# How's catching lemons with a blindfold on?

0:15:15 > 0:15:17# With his team mate, he caught 28 in a minute

0:15:17 > 0:15:19# That's more than you could do, mate

0:15:19 > 0:15:21# He gets spiritual peace when he's record-breaking

0:15:21 > 0:15:23# Champion of champions, ain't no faking

0:15:23 > 0:15:24# I'm not making it up, it's true,

0:15:24 > 0:15:26# I'm amazed at the stuff this guy can do

0:15:26 > 0:15:28# 100 metre jogs while wearing clogs

0:15:28 > 0:15:31# Fastest pace in a mile sack race

0:15:31 > 0:15:32# Bobbing more apples than anyone can

0:15:32 > 0:15:35# 34 in a minute, he's officially the man

0:15:35 > 0:15:37# Ashrita the world beater

0:15:37 > 0:15:39# Ashrita the world beater

0:15:39 > 0:15:41# He'll defeat ya, not a cheater

0:15:41 > 0:15:43# Ashrita the world beater. #

0:15:45 > 0:15:48Haruka is in Japan, which is handy because now it's...

0:15:55 > 0:15:56Konichiwa, everybody!

0:15:56 > 0:16:01Today's Japanese record would be impossible to do without these.

0:16:01 > 0:16:02Boxing gloves.

0:16:03 > 0:16:07But as it's Officially Amazing Japan-styley, there's a twist.

0:16:07 > 0:16:09We're not using them to box with...

0:16:11 > 0:16:16And to illustrate how impractical these are for doing anything

0:16:16 > 0:16:20other than boxing, I'm now going to try to do some everyday tasks.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28TOILET FLUSHES

0:16:30 > 0:16:32Just don't ask.

0:16:33 > 0:16:37They certainly don't make life easier, that's for sure,

0:16:37 > 0:16:38which makes today's record attempt,

0:16:38 > 0:16:42set against Tokyo's famous Rainbow Bridge, all the more impressive.

0:16:44 > 0:16:46Meet siblings Haruna and Kodai Yamagishi,

0:16:46 > 0:16:49who are hoping to regain a record they previously

0:16:49 > 0:16:53held for catching the most tennis balls, wearing a boxing glove.

0:16:53 > 0:16:56Haruna throws and Kodai catches.

0:16:56 > 0:17:00So this record is rather strange, how did you get into it?

0:17:00 > 0:17:02- TRANSLATION:- We went out shopping,

0:17:02 > 0:17:04came across an event, took part and won.

0:17:04 > 0:17:07We caught 44 balls and set a new world record.

0:17:09 > 0:17:11So what's the secret of the success?

0:17:12 > 0:17:15- TRANSLATION:- My totally awesome catching skills, definitely.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18- No, it's the throwing. - No, catching, love.

0:17:18 > 0:17:21No, it's definitely the throwing.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24You need to catch at least 51 balls today.

0:17:24 > 0:17:28- TRANSLATION:- I am aiming for 60 balls!

0:17:28 > 0:17:29- Good luck.- Oh, ta, love.

0:17:31 > 0:17:33As Kodai and Haruna do a last practice,

0:17:33 > 0:17:34you take a look at the rules.

0:17:37 > 0:17:42Standard 8-10oz gloves must be used and they must be fastened.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44Only one hand may be used to catch,

0:17:44 > 0:17:49and thrower and catcher should stand three metres apart.

0:17:49 > 0:17:53Kodai and Haruna's previous record was 44, but that was beaten by,

0:17:53 > 0:17:59yes, Ashrita the world beater and his friend Pippin Larkin in June 2013.

0:18:02 > 0:18:04Today, they want their title back.

0:18:04 > 0:18:05Go!

0:18:06 > 0:18:0850 to beat, remember.

0:18:08 > 0:18:09Hitting a good rhythm now.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12Let's look at the technique -

0:18:12 > 0:18:16Kodai slows the ball with his glove, when it comes to rest, it's a catch.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18Only then can he drop it.

0:18:19 > 0:18:21That won't count.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23Ooh, another one dropped!

0:18:23 > 0:18:25Come on, Kodai!

0:18:25 > 0:18:26That's good though.

0:18:26 > 0:18:28And another. Yes!

0:18:28 > 0:18:31It's boxing, it's tennis, it's....bennis!

0:18:31 > 0:18:33Or is it toxing?

0:18:33 > 0:18:34Never mind.

0:18:35 > 0:18:36Oh, this is nice and fast.

0:18:38 > 0:18:39Missed a couple there though.

0:18:42 > 0:18:45Final few seconds... HOOTER BLOWS

0:18:45 > 0:18:49Quite a few dropped, have they done enough to get their record back?

0:18:51 > 0:18:54Official adjudicator Ayia is checking the replay.

0:18:55 > 0:18:57Did they get the 50 catches they needed?

0:18:59 > 0:19:01What you have achieved right now....

0:19:03 > 0:19:05..was...

0:19:06 > 0:19:08..62!

0:19:08 > 0:19:11THEY CHEER

0:19:13 > 0:19:15That was amazing!

0:19:17 > 0:19:19Happy high-fives all round!

0:19:19 > 0:19:21And no wonder!

0:19:21 > 0:19:26They've beaten Ashrita by 12 catches to reclaim their tennis ball title.

0:19:26 > 0:19:28It's a happy ending for Kodai

0:19:28 > 0:19:31and Haruna for proving themselves to be Officially Amazing.

0:19:33 > 0:19:35Bye-bye from Tokyo.

0:19:46 > 0:19:48We're back in the Malvern Hills with the Moffatt brothers,

0:19:48 > 0:19:53where earlier, we saw elder brother Alastair set a new world record

0:19:53 > 0:19:56of 8.6cm for the tightest parallel park,

0:19:56 > 0:20:00doing it on his first attempt!

0:20:00 > 0:20:01Ha-ha! Look at that!

0:20:01 > 0:20:03Later, we'll see the boys attempt

0:20:03 > 0:20:07a brand-new new double parallel park world record.

0:20:07 > 0:20:11But first, can John equal his big brother's incredible feat

0:20:11 > 0:20:14and once more share the single parallel park record?

0:20:14 > 0:20:16After all, it's nice to share.

0:20:17 > 0:20:19Can he do it first time?

0:20:20 > 0:20:22GROANS

0:20:22 > 0:20:24That'll be a no, then.

0:20:24 > 0:20:26There was a little ding there.

0:20:26 > 0:20:28That's going to be John busy all night knocking that out.

0:20:28 > 0:20:30Oh, that's not good.

0:20:30 > 0:20:34Now that John's shunted the car, it has to go back in, re-measure,

0:20:34 > 0:20:37make sure it's at record-breaking territory.

0:20:37 > 0:20:39John tries again - come on, John!

0:20:42 > 0:20:44Ooh!

0:20:44 > 0:20:46Looks nice.

0:20:46 > 0:20:48There's a little bit of touching going on here.

0:20:48 > 0:20:52Some inspired technical observations from yours truly there,

0:20:52 > 0:20:54but it's not my opinion that matters.

0:20:54 > 0:20:55It's a little bit too close,

0:20:55 > 0:20:59- it's completely underneath the bumper in front.- Another fail!

0:20:59 > 0:21:01Oh, dear, oh, dear! Will it be third time lucky?

0:21:04 > 0:21:06Er, no.

0:21:06 > 0:21:08Fourth time lucky?

0:21:09 > 0:21:10OK, fifth?

0:21:12 > 0:21:13Sixth?

0:21:13 > 0:21:15Ooh!

0:21:15 > 0:21:19They've decided John has time for one more go before the big one -

0:21:19 > 0:21:22the new world record for the double parallel park.

0:21:25 > 0:21:27- Come on, John!- Come on!

0:21:29 > 0:21:30This time, John!

0:21:37 > 0:21:38No!

0:21:38 > 0:21:42So close - John's car is just touching the car in front,

0:21:42 > 0:21:43so that's a fail.

0:21:45 > 0:21:46Never mind.

0:21:46 > 0:21:47Commiserations.

0:21:49 > 0:21:50Well done, Al.

0:21:50 > 0:21:53Well, it may have been just you who got the record there,

0:21:53 > 0:21:56Alastair, but now it's time for you to work together as a team,

0:21:56 > 0:22:00and it's gotten even tougher - it's the double parallel park.

0:22:00 > 0:22:03The double parallel park is a brand-new record.

0:22:03 > 0:22:07It needs a larger parking space but two cars must fit into it.

0:22:07 > 0:22:10To count as a new record, the total space between all

0:22:10 > 0:22:15the cars can be no more than 50cm, which is not much room.

0:22:15 > 0:22:18The same rules apply - if any car goes over the white line,

0:22:18 > 0:22:21or if any of the cars are touching, then it's a fail.

0:22:21 > 0:22:23And, as the tarmac is now cooler,

0:22:23 > 0:22:25the Moffatts don't need water to help them slide.

0:22:27 > 0:22:29BURPING

0:22:29 > 0:22:32Alastair gets the red Mini into position and in the white one,

0:22:32 > 0:22:34John is ready to go.

0:22:34 > 0:22:38Right, here we go - first attempt, double parallel park.

0:22:38 > 0:22:39I can't wait.

0:22:46 > 0:22:48John first, then Alastair.

0:22:48 > 0:22:50Excellent.

0:22:50 > 0:22:52Now, it's time for Mark to check - could this be a record?

0:22:52 > 0:22:54We've got one of the cars touching the white line,

0:22:54 > 0:22:57so that's an invalid attempt.

0:22:57 > 0:23:00Ah! Time to try again, guys.

0:23:00 > 0:23:03The Moffatt brothers were millimetres away from a new

0:23:03 > 0:23:07world record, but John's car just touched the white line.

0:23:07 > 0:23:08So they'll try again.

0:23:08 > 0:23:09In comes John.

0:23:12 > 0:23:14And in comes Alastair...

0:23:14 > 0:23:15Oh!

0:23:15 > 0:23:18This time, Alastair's car has gone over the white line,

0:23:18 > 0:23:19so it's another fail.

0:23:19 > 0:23:22OK. Third time's a charm - let's get a record.

0:23:28 > 0:23:30First John, then Alastair.

0:23:30 > 0:23:35Ooh. Alastair's car crashed into the blue one - that's another fail.

0:23:35 > 0:23:38This isn't going well and there isn't much time left.

0:23:40 > 0:23:42The boys are struggling,

0:23:42 > 0:23:45they can't seem to make it work with this method.

0:23:47 > 0:23:49Time for a Moffatt family conference.

0:23:51 > 0:23:53And it looks like they've come up with an idea.

0:23:53 > 0:23:57I think we're probably going to have to change our approach,

0:23:57 > 0:23:59maybe both come from the same direction.

0:23:59 > 0:24:02Let's just check with Mark that that's within the rules - Mark?

0:24:02 > 0:24:05Absolutely. As long as the cars get into that space,

0:24:05 > 0:24:07- I'm quite happy with it.- Fantastic.

0:24:07 > 0:24:09Sounds good, you want to give it another try?

0:24:09 > 0:24:10Yeah, let's give it a go.

0:24:10 > 0:24:14Plan B for the marvellous motoring Moffatt brothers!

0:24:14 > 0:24:17It's time for the first attempt with the new configuration of cars,

0:24:17 > 0:24:19both coming in from the same angle.

0:24:19 > 0:24:22Hopefully, this'll pay dividends.

0:24:22 > 0:24:25Alastair coming in first this time, and here comes John.

0:24:26 > 0:24:29But he's hit Alastair - that's a fail.

0:24:29 > 0:24:32There was a definite shunt there.

0:24:32 > 0:24:34Oh, yes, there was, Alastair.

0:24:35 > 0:24:36Here they come again.

0:24:40 > 0:24:42No, no, no, no!

0:24:42 > 0:24:45Alastair's called that one - it's a no.

0:24:45 > 0:24:48It has to be right, exactly, on both cars.

0:24:48 > 0:24:52The light's really fading now - come on, the Moffatt brothers!

0:25:03 > 0:25:05Oh, suddenly a close one.

0:25:05 > 0:25:09Official adjudicator Mark has some official adjudicating to do.

0:25:09 > 0:25:13This is actually the brothers' 15th attempt.

0:25:13 > 0:25:16They've been so close so many times,

0:25:16 > 0:25:18and not very close a couple of times.

0:25:20 > 0:25:23There's hardly any time left in the day, they really need this.

0:25:26 > 0:25:27It's tense.

0:25:30 > 0:25:34With this record, they can't be more than 30cm away from the line.

0:25:37 > 0:25:41Unfortunately, we have one wheel more than 30cm away.

0:25:41 > 0:25:44No! John's back wheel was too far away.

0:25:44 > 0:25:48The lads have tried and tried, but failed.

0:25:48 > 0:25:51They're going to give it one last go - it's now or never.

0:25:53 > 0:25:57Moffatt plus Moffatt equals world record - come on!

0:26:03 > 0:26:05Ooh, ooh!

0:26:08 > 0:26:10Could they have finally done it?

0:26:11 > 0:26:13The Moffatts have everything crossed.

0:26:14 > 0:26:18If Alastair was a zebra, he'd be a zebra crossing.

0:26:18 > 0:26:20The tension is unbearable.

0:26:23 > 0:26:27You can see the both cars are in, both cars are in the space,

0:26:27 > 0:26:28all that it comes down to is,

0:26:28 > 0:26:34are any of the wheels more than 30cm away from that notional kerb?

0:26:34 > 0:26:37Mark, you've had a chance to take a look, what do you make of it?

0:26:37 > 0:26:40I've measured the distance between the tyres and the white line,

0:26:40 > 0:26:44I know in the past there have been some that have been quite close,

0:26:44 > 0:26:47this one was within our guidelines,

0:26:47 > 0:26:49so that's a brand-new Guinness World Records title!

0:26:49 > 0:26:52Got a new record! Out of the cars, Moffatt brothers!

0:26:52 > 0:26:55LAUGHTER

0:26:55 > 0:26:58Oh, bring it in.

0:26:58 > 0:26:59Let's have a big hug.

0:27:00 > 0:27:02That is brilliant.

0:27:02 > 0:27:04They've done it!

0:27:04 > 0:27:07It was a close-run thing, but in the end, the Moffatt brothers

0:27:07 > 0:27:12achieved a world first - the tightest double parallel park.

0:27:12 > 0:27:17Well, there you have it - doubly, brotherly, Officially Amazing.

0:27:21 > 0:27:24What a great way to finish the show.

0:27:24 > 0:27:28See you next time for more fantastic feats of record-breaking.

0:27:28 > 0:27:33# Well, US Ray won easily with 77 star jumps

0:27:33 > 0:27:36# Officially useless, Sizzler and Cherry

0:27:36 > 0:27:38# Were a couple of star jump chumps

0:27:38 > 0:27:40# The Moffatt brothers were glorious

0:27:40 > 0:27:42# When they parallel park they're victorious

0:27:42 > 0:27:46# Haruna and Kodai wowed us all with a boxing glove and some tennis balls

0:27:46 > 0:27:50# And Antanas did lady-lifting with his beard

0:27:50 > 0:27:55# It's all Officially Amazing! #
