0:00:35 > 0:00:38# Over the cobbles and through the streets
0:00:38 > 0:00:40# Playing in the sun
0:00:40 > 0:00:42# Friends to meet with games and treats
0:00:42 > 0:00:45# Adventures just begun
0:00:45 > 0:00:49# Stories from a magical world washed in by the sea
0:00:49 > 0:00:52# Meet the rockpool creatures there
0:00:52 > 0:00:55#It's amazing what you see
0:00:55 > 0:00:59# Looking back when I was a boy
0:00:59 > 0:01:01# Shrimps and starfish Crabs and snails
0:01:01 > 0:01:04# In twinkly Rockpool Tales... #
0:01:04 > 0:01:05Ha-ha!
0:01:05 > 0:01:08# Those lovely Rockpool Tales. #
0:01:12 > 0:01:15Now, then. Now, what's that, eh?
0:01:15 > 0:01:17Eh? What is it? It's a feather.
0:01:17 > 0:01:22It's my feather and it must have fallen down from the shelf.
0:01:22 > 0:01:26It's an unusual colour, that, isn't it?
0:01:26 > 0:01:27Don't you think?
0:01:27 > 0:01:32Now, if I remember rightly, this feather came from a parrot
0:01:32 > 0:01:35and parrots normally live in the jungle,
0:01:35 > 0:01:38but this one lived right here in Staithes.
0:01:38 > 0:01:42Yeah, that reminds me of a story.
0:01:42 > 0:01:44Are you going to listen, as well? Good girl.
0:01:44 > 0:01:48It all happened when I was a boy
0:01:48 > 0:01:51in a twinkly time, long, long ago.
0:01:52 > 0:01:56Ha-ha! I used to run down to the beach
0:01:56 > 0:01:58as often as I could,
0:01:58 > 0:02:03meeting up with my best friends, Little Ernie and Little Sailor Sue.
0:02:08 > 0:02:12We were all digging in the sand one day, making sand castles,
0:02:12 > 0:02:14when out of the sky,
0:02:14 > 0:02:16something landed on my shoulder.
0:02:16 > 0:02:17What's this?
0:02:18 > 0:02:20It's a pretty feather.
0:02:20 > 0:02:22Little Sailor Sue had a look at it
0:02:22 > 0:02:26and it didn't look like a seagull feather.
0:02:26 > 0:02:30Just then, we heard a squawk above our heads
0:02:30 > 0:02:33and when we looked up, what did we see?
0:02:33 > 0:02:36Yes, that's right, it was a parrot
0:02:36 > 0:02:38and it was flying above us.
0:02:38 > 0:02:42I think it's a feather from a pirate's parrot!
0:02:42 > 0:02:43Quick, follow it!
0:02:43 > 0:02:47We followed the parrot as it flew towards the rockpool,
0:02:47 > 0:02:51and, with a squawk, it disappeared over the clifftop.
0:02:51 > 0:02:54Sue said, "It'll come back soon."
0:02:54 > 0:02:57So we waited by the rockpool,
0:02:57 > 0:03:00and as we gazed deep down into the glittery waters,
0:03:00 > 0:03:04a magical world appeared before our eyes.
0:03:07 > 0:03:11One morning, Sally the Starfish and Andrew the Anemone
0:03:11 > 0:03:13were playing together.
0:03:13 > 0:03:16They were looking for surprises
0:03:16 > 0:03:19washed into the rockpool by the tide.
0:03:19 > 0:03:22"What's that?" asked Sally,
0:03:22 > 0:03:26and up ahead, they saw something big and dark.
0:03:26 > 0:03:29"I think it's some sort of a box," said Andrew.
0:03:29 > 0:03:34And it was indeed a great wooden box with brass handles
0:03:34 > 0:03:37and written on the side were the words,
0:03:37 > 0:03:40"Property of Captain Kitty, the pirate."
0:03:41 > 0:03:42"Isn't Captain Kitty
0:03:42 > 0:03:48"the naughtiest pirate on the seven seas?" Sally whispered.
0:03:48 > 0:03:52"Oh, a pirate's chest," said Andrew,
0:03:52 > 0:03:55"there'll be treasure inside."
0:03:55 > 0:03:56"Well, it's here now,
0:03:56 > 0:04:00"we might as well open it," said Andrew.
0:04:00 > 0:04:02Sally wasn't sure.
0:04:02 > 0:04:06"You can't go around opening other people's property, can you?"
0:04:06 > 0:04:10Just then, they heard a squeak.
0:04:10 > 0:04:13They looked at each other in surprise.
0:04:13 > 0:04:15And then another squeeaak.
0:04:15 > 0:04:18It was coming from the treasure chest.
0:04:18 > 0:04:22Now, dogs are very interested in squeaks,
0:04:22 > 0:04:25and Salty's golden rule is
0:04:25 > 0:04:29if you hear a squeak, you should investigate it
0:04:29 > 0:04:33because you never know who or what is doing the squeaking.
0:04:33 > 0:04:35Isn't that right, girl? WOOF!
0:04:35 > 0:04:41Yes, so Sally and Andrew agreed they should investigate.
0:04:41 > 0:04:42With a huge push,
0:04:42 > 0:04:47the lid of the treasure chest slowly started to open
0:04:47 > 0:04:50and the squeaks got squeakier...
0:04:50 > 0:04:53SQUEAK!
0:04:53 > 0:05:00..until a large yellow shape pushed its way out of the treasure chest.
0:05:00 > 0:05:02It was round, floaty,
0:05:02 > 0:05:05and had a long string attached to it.
0:05:05 > 0:05:09"Ha! It's a balloon!" laughs Sally.
0:05:09 > 0:05:12"This treasure chest must be full of balloons.
0:05:12 > 0:05:15"That's what all the squeaking is."
0:05:15 > 0:05:18"Well, close it quickly or they'll escape," said Andrew.
0:05:18 > 0:05:21The two little friends looked at each other.
0:05:21 > 0:05:24Uh-oh, they didn't want to be blamed
0:05:24 > 0:05:27for opening Captain Kitty's treasure chest
0:05:27 > 0:05:29and losing all her balloons.
0:05:29 > 0:05:30Oh, no.
0:05:30 > 0:05:32Sally sat down hard on the lid,
0:05:32 > 0:05:37and the chest closed with a squeaky, bubbly thlump.
0:05:37 > 0:05:39"There," she said, proudly,
0:05:39 > 0:05:42"the balloons are all safe."
0:05:42 > 0:05:46"All except one. The yellow balloon is getting away!" Andrew shouted.
0:05:46 > 0:05:50"You hold the lid down, I'll rescue the balloon,"
0:05:50 > 0:05:51and he raced off.
0:05:51 > 0:05:55Well, by now, the yellow balloon had floated up into the sky,
0:05:55 > 0:06:00and down below, Andrew grabbed the balloon's floaty string
0:06:00 > 0:06:02and tried to pull it back.
0:06:02 > 0:06:08Oh! But a gust of seaside wind caught the yellow balloon
0:06:08 > 0:06:11and wafted it up, up and away.
0:06:12 > 0:06:15Clinging tightly to the string,
0:06:15 > 0:06:20Andrew was pulled out of the rockpool with a splash.
0:06:20 > 0:06:21"Whee-hee!"
0:06:22 > 0:06:26Andrew was flying higher and higher into the sky
0:06:26 > 0:06:28on the end of the yellow balloon.
0:06:28 > 0:06:32"Ha-ha, ha-ha, ha-ha. Ooh, not again!" he laughed.
0:06:32 > 0:06:37Andrew loves flying adventures, doesn't he, Salty? Oh, yeah.
0:06:37 > 0:06:40Anyway, he looked down at the rockpool
0:06:40 > 0:06:45getting smaller and smaller and further and further away.
0:06:45 > 0:06:48And then he saw a ship.
0:06:48 > 0:06:49It was the Hurly Burly,
0:06:49 > 0:06:52Captain Kitty's pirate ship,
0:06:52 > 0:06:55and there she was, pacing up and down on the deck
0:06:55 > 0:06:57and she looked pretty cross.
0:06:58 > 0:07:02"Hello, Andrew. What are you doing up here?"
0:07:02 > 0:07:04said a voice.
0:07:04 > 0:07:08Flapping along beside him was Brenda the Stork.
0:07:08 > 0:07:10"Hello, Brenda," said Andrew,
0:07:10 > 0:07:14"I was trying to rescue one of Captain Kitty's balloons
0:07:14 > 0:07:15"that floated away."
0:07:15 > 0:07:19"Captain Kitty will want it back," said Brenda.
0:07:19 > 0:07:22"It's her birthday today and she's having a party.
0:07:22 > 0:07:24"She's blown up all her party balloons
0:07:24 > 0:07:27"and put them in her treasure chest."
0:07:27 > 0:07:30Well, that solved the mystery, didn't it, Salty?
0:07:30 > 0:07:31WOOF!
0:07:31 > 0:07:33The treasure chest full of balloons
0:07:33 > 0:07:37must have fallen off Captain Kitty's pirate ship
0:07:37 > 0:07:40and washed up in the rockpool.
0:07:40 > 0:07:45"Brenda," said Andrew, "you're great at delivering things.
0:07:45 > 0:07:47"Could you drop me off at the rockpool
0:07:47 > 0:07:50"and then deliver this balloon to Captain Kitty?"
0:07:50 > 0:07:54So Brenda took the balloon string in her beak
0:07:54 > 0:07:57and guided it back to the rockpool
0:07:57 > 0:08:01until she was low enough for Andrew to jump off.
0:08:01 > 0:08:03"Wee-hee!"
0:08:03 > 0:08:09And then she flapped away to deliver the balloon to Captain Kitty.
0:08:09 > 0:08:11Andrew floated down to Sally,
0:08:11 > 0:08:14who was still sitting on the treasure chest,
0:08:14 > 0:08:17keeping it closed.
0:08:17 > 0:08:20"Open the treasure chest," called Andrew.
0:08:20 > 0:08:23"What? What?" Sally looked a little confused,
0:08:23 > 0:08:25but Andrew seemed to know what he was doing,
0:08:25 > 0:08:27so she jumped off,
0:08:27 > 0:08:31and the lid of the treasure chest yawned open.
0:08:32 > 0:08:37The balloons inside all squeaked and jostled to get out.
0:08:37 > 0:08:41"Way-ah-woo-hee-woo-ha!"
0:08:41 > 0:08:46Then they floated up and up and up through the water,
0:08:46 > 0:08:49out of the rockpool, into the sky.
0:08:49 > 0:08:52Then Brenda caught them one by one in her beak
0:08:52 > 0:08:56and carried the whole bunch over to Captain Kitty.
0:08:56 > 0:09:00Now she could have her birthday party,
0:09:00 > 0:09:05and later, the sea would wash into the rockpool again
0:09:05 > 0:09:09and carry the treasure chest back to its owner.
0:09:09 > 0:09:12Sally and Andrew giggled,
0:09:12 > 0:09:15watching the balloons bobbing and squeaking
0:09:15 > 0:09:19from the tall masts of the pirate ship.
0:09:19 > 0:09:24Captain Kitty and her parrot cheered and squawked happily
0:09:24 > 0:09:28and just then, we all heard a squawk above us.
0:09:28 > 0:09:30The parrot's back.
0:09:30 > 0:09:32Come on, follow it!
0:09:32 > 0:09:38It soared over the beach and landed far away outside the sweet shop.
0:09:38 > 0:09:44Oh, dear! It was Polly, the sweet shop lady's pet parrot!
0:09:45 > 0:09:48They said that she used to feed Polly
0:09:48 > 0:09:51Yorkshire pudding and gravy on Sundays.
0:09:51 > 0:09:56So, if ever we had a bit of money to spend, as a special treat,
0:09:56 > 0:09:58we would visit the sweet shop...
0:09:58 > 0:10:00- Hello, Polly.- Hello, Polly.
0:10:00 > 0:10:02All right, Polly.
0:10:02 > 0:10:04Come on, let's go!
0:10:06 > 0:10:09..and then we'd dash back on to the beach...
0:10:09 > 0:10:11I love Sherbet Lemons.
0:10:11 > 0:10:14..and share our sweets until the tide came in
0:10:14 > 0:10:16and covered the rockpool,
0:10:16 > 0:10:19like a great seaweedy blanket.
0:10:25 > 0:10:29Polly's not here in Staithes any more,
0:10:29 > 0:10:35but there is a sweet shop, and I still have my feather.
0:10:35 > 0:10:37Lovely, isn't it? Ha-ha!
0:10:37 > 0:10:42Maybe one day, another parrot will come to stay here.
0:10:42 > 0:10:43SQUAWK!
0:10:43 > 0:10:44Oh, listen.
0:10:46 > 0:10:47SQUAWK!
0:10:47 > 0:10:49I was right. It's a parrot.
0:10:49 > 0:10:56So why don't you join us for some more Rockpool Tales next time?
0:10:56 > 0:10:57Goodbye.
0:10:57 > 0:11:00SQUAWKS: Goodbye! Goodbye!
0:11:00 > 0:11:01Ha-ha-ha-ha!
