0:01:12 > 0:01:15Ho-ho! Oh, hello!
0:01:15 > 0:01:20Salty and I have been playing hide and seek today.
0:01:20 > 0:01:23You know, she's always quite hard to find on the beach
0:01:23 > 0:01:28because her sandy-coloured fur acts as camouflage.
0:01:28 > 0:01:30It helps her to blend in.
0:01:30 > 0:01:32Which reminds me
0:01:32 > 0:01:36of another time I played hide and seek on the beach.
0:01:36 > 0:01:39Why don't I tell you the story?
0:01:40 > 0:01:43Well, it all happened when I was a boy,
0:01:43 > 0:01:47in a twinkly time, long, long ago.
0:01:50 > 0:01:54I used to run down to the beach as often as I could,
0:01:54 > 0:01:58meeting up with my best friends, Little Ernie and Little Sailor Sue.
0:02:05 > 0:02:08- Let's play hide and seek. - I'll count.- Go, go.
0:02:09 > 0:02:11One, two...
0:02:11 > 0:02:14'The three of us would play hide and seek
0:02:14 > 0:02:16'around the harbour in Staithes.'
0:02:17 > 0:02:20One day, when Little Sailor Sue was "it",
0:02:20 > 0:02:25Ernie and I ran off to hide in our usual spot behind some lobster pots.
0:02:25 > 0:02:28We always hide here. She'll find us straightaway. Come on.
0:02:29 > 0:02:32'Ernie wanted to stay where he was,'
0:02:32 > 0:02:35so I ran off towards the rockpools.
0:02:36 > 0:02:39'I found a really good hiding place,'
0:02:39 > 0:02:42and then I waited for Sue to come and find me.
0:02:42 > 0:02:46'And as I gazed down into the glittery green water,
0:02:46 > 0:02:49'a magical world appeared before my eyes.'
0:02:54 > 0:02:56On this particular day,
0:02:56 > 0:03:01Buster the Crab was looking after a special visitor.
0:03:01 > 0:03:07His name was Luca and he was a lively young squid.
0:03:07 > 0:03:11Little Luca's dad, Big Charlie, had gone to do some errands,
0:03:11 > 0:03:13so Buster was looking after him.
0:03:13 > 0:03:19Luca had lots of arms and lots and lots of energy.
0:03:19 > 0:03:25He was as zingy and poppy as a fizzy lemonade bubble.
0:03:25 > 0:03:28"Ah, squiggly squid. What shall we play, Buster?" he chortled.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31"Tell you what," said Buster, chuckling,
0:03:31 > 0:03:32"I'll race you."
0:03:32 > 0:03:35"Oh, zipp-ee!" cried Luca.
0:03:35 > 0:03:37And they shot off.
0:03:38 > 0:03:40And guess who got there first. SALTY BARKS
0:03:40 > 0:03:44Yes, Salty, yes. Yes, it was Luca, of course.
0:03:44 > 0:03:48"Oh, squiggly squid! I win!" he chortled.
0:03:49 > 0:03:51"What shall we play next?"
0:03:51 > 0:03:58Well, Buster thought that Luca would love the seaweed trampoline.
0:03:58 > 0:04:03"Follow me, little squiggly squid," he said.
0:04:03 > 0:04:08And they trooped off. Now, on the way, they met Sidney the Snail.
0:04:08 > 0:04:11"We are going to trampoline," said Luca.
0:04:11 > 0:04:12"Are you coming too?"
0:04:12 > 0:04:17Luca and Buster jumped backwards, frontwards,
0:04:17 > 0:04:19roundy round, upside down.
0:04:19 > 0:04:25"Try bouncing, Sidney! It's fun!"
0:04:26 > 0:04:31So, Sidney jumped onto the trampoline and bounced.
0:04:31 > 0:04:35When he was in mid air, he stretched himself out,
0:04:35 > 0:04:38but just as he was about to land,
0:04:38 > 0:04:41he sucked himself back into his shell.
0:04:42 > 0:04:45Now, Luca thought this was very funny.
0:04:45 > 0:04:48"Quicker, Sidney! Quicker!"
0:04:48 > 0:04:51he cried, letting out a gleeful chuckle.
0:04:51 > 0:04:54But Buster and Sidney were tired.
0:04:54 > 0:04:56But Luca wasn't.
0:04:56 > 0:05:02Luckily, Sheena the Shrimp arrived and she was in the mood for dancing.
0:05:02 > 0:05:07"Oh, a new dance partner!" she said, happily, when she saw Luca.
0:05:07 > 0:05:10"Come and see my musical rock."
0:05:10 > 0:05:12"Yes, squiggly please," cried Luca.
0:05:12 > 0:05:16The musical rock played a very lively piece
0:05:16 > 0:05:19of clapping and stamping music.
0:05:19 > 0:05:21And they danced.
0:05:21 > 0:05:26Luca was a lovely mover, flinging his arms in all directions.
0:05:26 > 0:05:29They danced the kazambo and the jigga-jigga jango.
0:05:30 > 0:05:35And after a while, Sheena, oh, she needed a rest!
0:05:35 > 0:05:37But Luca didn't seem to be tired at all.
0:05:37 > 0:05:42"Squiggly squid! What shall we play now, Buster?" he asked.
0:05:42 > 0:05:47Buster wasn't sure. He was too tired to think.
0:05:47 > 0:05:50Belinda the Blenny swam by.
0:05:50 > 0:05:55"Help us, Belinda," Buster whispered. "We're all worn out.
0:05:55 > 0:05:59"I promised Charlie the Squid I would look after his little son,
0:05:59 > 0:06:03"Luca, and we've jumped and danced and we've had lots of fun,
0:06:03 > 0:06:08"but now, everyone's very tired, except for Luca!"
0:06:09 > 0:06:15Belinda swam up close to Luca to get a better look at him.
0:06:15 > 0:06:19"Oh, aren't you a real sweetie?
0:06:19 > 0:06:23"Now, what we need is a nice calm game.
0:06:23 > 0:06:27"Hm, yes. What about hide and seek?"
0:06:27 > 0:06:32"That's my best game ever," said Luca.
0:06:32 > 0:06:36So, Luca ran off to hide, while Belinda counted.
0:06:36 > 0:06:40"One, two, three, four..."
0:06:40 > 0:06:45She gave him lots of time to find a really good hiding place.
0:06:47 > 0:06:53"598, 599, 600!
0:06:53 > 0:06:58"Coming, ready or not!" she cried.
0:06:58 > 0:07:02She swam about the sandy floor, looking for him.
0:07:02 > 0:07:05She thought it would be easy because Luca was purple,
0:07:05 > 0:07:08with lots of long, dingly-dangly arms.
0:07:08 > 0:07:10But it wasn't easy
0:07:10 > 0:07:15because that little squid had a very clever way of hiding.
0:07:15 > 0:07:18SALTY BARKS Yes, Salty, yes.
0:07:18 > 0:07:21Luca could camouflage himself.
0:07:21 > 0:07:24He could actually change his colour
0:07:24 > 0:07:28and his pattern to blend in with things.
0:07:28 > 0:07:33So, when Belinda looked amongst the tangly-dangly seaweed,
0:07:33 > 0:07:35she had to look extra closely,
0:07:35 > 0:07:40for, in amongst it, was a tangly-dangly little squid.
0:07:40 > 0:07:44"Oh, there you are, you clever boy!" she called.
0:07:44 > 0:07:48"Ha-ha! Now you see why it's my best game ever!
0:07:48 > 0:07:54"It's cos I can camouflage myself," Luca said, proudly.
0:07:54 > 0:07:58Well, all the creatures cheered.
0:07:58 > 0:08:02They thought Luca was extremely clever.
0:08:02 > 0:08:07"Let's play hide and seek for ever and ever," he chortled happily.
0:08:07 > 0:08:12Then, an extremely long arm
0:08:12 > 0:08:15stretched into the pool
0:08:15 > 0:08:18and plucked up Luca.
0:08:18 > 0:08:21It was Big Charlie the Squid.
0:08:21 > 0:08:24"Yeah! Dad's back!" cried Luca.
0:08:24 > 0:08:28"Hi, Dad! Can I stay and play a bit longer, please?
0:08:28 > 0:08:31"I don't want to go home yet."
0:08:31 > 0:08:35"Buster and his friends might need to rest now, Luca,"
0:08:35 > 0:08:37said Big Charlie.
0:08:37 > 0:08:40"And besides, you haven't played with me yet."
0:08:40 > 0:08:44"Come back soon, Luca, we had lots of fun," said Buster.
0:08:44 > 0:08:47"You are brilliant at hide and seek."
0:08:47 > 0:08:50"Can I come back tomorrow?" cried Luca.
0:08:50 > 0:08:54"Come back any time you like," said Buster.
0:08:54 > 0:08:57All the creatures waved goodbye.
0:08:57 > 0:09:03"Squiggly squids! Ha-hey, see you soon," they called.
0:09:06 > 0:09:08Jack? Jack?
0:09:08 > 0:09:12'And just then, I heard Sue calling me
0:09:12 > 0:09:13'from across the beach.'
0:09:13 > 0:09:15Found you, Ernie.
0:09:15 > 0:09:16Let's find Jack.
0:09:16 > 0:09:18I think he went over there.
0:09:18 > 0:09:19Jack?
0:09:19 > 0:09:23'I kept hiding. I thought they wouldn't see me
0:09:23 > 0:09:25'because I blended in quite well'
0:09:25 > 0:09:28with the rocks, but they spotted something.
0:09:28 > 0:09:31- Is that his hat? - I think it is.
0:09:34 > 0:09:36Found you, Jack!
0:09:36 > 0:09:38- How?- We saw your green hat.
0:09:38 > 0:09:41Then it was Ernie's turn to be "it".
0:09:41 > 0:09:45One, two, three, four, five...
0:09:46 > 0:09:48'Coming, ready or not!
0:09:48 > 0:09:53'And we played hide and seek for the rest of the afternoon...'
0:09:53 > 0:09:55Found you, Jack!
0:09:55 > 0:09:57'..until the tide came in...'
0:09:57 > 0:09:59Found you, Sue!
0:09:59 > 0:10:03..and covered the rockpool like a great seaweedy blanket.
0:10:09 > 0:10:12Salty's hiding again. Can you spot her?
0:10:12 > 0:10:15I'm coming, Salty! Ready or not!
0:10:15 > 0:10:18Ha-ha! Oh, she's not there.
0:10:19 > 0:10:21Shush!
0:10:23 > 0:10:25There you are! Oh!
0:10:25 > 0:10:26Not in there either.
0:10:26 > 0:10:28Where's she gone? Let's have a look.
0:10:28 > 0:10:30Oh, look at you!
0:10:30 > 0:10:33There you are! Come here!
0:10:35 > 0:10:37Oh, you come and find us next time
