0:00:53 > 0:00:55Oh, hello!

0:00:55 > 0:01:00I'm looking for Salty's brush because her coat is in a bit of a tangle.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03I don't know where I put it. Where did you leave it, Salty?

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Come on, tell me where it is... Oh, there we are.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09Now, I must have put it there, I'm sorry.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13You come and sit down next to me. That's it, yes.

0:01:13 > 0:01:17Look at the state of you. Now, you sit down there. Sit down, beautiful.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21Look at that. Now, this isn't something you can rush, you know.

0:01:21 > 0:01:26You've got to be slow and steady and then we'll get the job done.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30That's a bit better. You look beautiful now, you really do.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Good girl. Yes.

0:01:32 > 0:01:36I got myself in a few tangles over the years as well.

0:01:36 > 0:01:41But there was one particular time I remember.

0:01:41 > 0:01:46Good girl, you sit nicely and I'll tell you the story.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50I'll tell you the story as well.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53It all happened when I was a boy

0:01:53 > 0:01:56in a twinkly time long, long ago.

0:01:59 > 0:02:03I used to run down to play on the beach as often as I could,

0:02:03 > 0:02:08meeting up with my best friend Little Sailor Sue.

0:02:08 > 0:02:12One day I took my kite to the beach to show Sue.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15I'd made it myself with brown paper and string

0:02:15 > 0:02:18and I was very proud of it.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20We took it down to the shoreline to fly it.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22Well, it wasn't easy.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24I had to hold on tight to the string

0:02:24 > 0:02:28because the wind kept tugging at it greedily.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32"Sorry, wind!" I cried. "It's my kite, not yours."

0:02:32 > 0:02:34"I made it myself."

0:02:34 > 0:02:39Well, that made the wind a bit grumpy and it blew extra hard

0:02:39 > 0:02:42and whipped the kite out of my hand.

0:02:43 > 0:02:47We ran after it as it blew off towards the rock pools.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50It looked like it was going to land in one of them and get wet

0:02:50 > 0:02:53but Sue caught it just in time.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54When I looked at the string,

0:02:54 > 0:02:59it was all tangled up in the seaweed on the edge of one of the rock pools,

0:02:59 > 0:03:02so we knelt down and we tried to untangle it.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06As we gazed deep down into the glittery waters,

0:03:06 > 0:03:10a magical world appeared before our eyes.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19On this particular day in the rock pool,

0:03:19 > 0:03:24Sidney the Snail had been slowly inching along the sandy floor.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28"I love the blue of the pool, I do."

0:03:28 > 0:03:31"I love each rock and shell."

0:03:31 > 0:03:36"I love the frondy seaweed too

0:03:36 > 0:03:40"And the yellow sand as well."

0:03:40 > 0:03:44When Bertrum the Butterfish whizzed passed at such a speed

0:03:44 > 0:03:50he caused a little cloud of sand to whirl up and float down again.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54"I can't stop to chat," Bertrum said. "I have a very important job to do.

0:03:54 > 0:03:58"The seaweed is in a terrible mess and I must untangle it."

0:03:58 > 0:04:03Sidney looked at the seaweed and it was indeed in a terrible tangle.

0:04:03 > 0:04:09"Shall I help you? I like untangling things," Sidney offered.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11"No, thanks," said Bertrum.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14"I need to get in done quickly and everybody knows that a

0:04:14 > 0:04:20"slow snail like you can't help a fast fish like me."

0:04:20 > 0:04:23Then Bertrum shot off again.

0:04:23 > 0:04:27"Rush, rush, what a fuss," Sidney mumbled to himself.

0:04:29 > 0:04:33Meanwhile, high in the sky in the world up top

0:04:33 > 0:04:36someone else was rushing.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38It was Brenda the Stork.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40Yes, that's right, Salty,

0:04:40 > 0:04:44Brenda the Stork, a dear old friend of ours, isn't she?

0:04:44 > 0:04:47We've sometimes seen her on our fishing adventures.

0:04:47 > 0:04:53Anyway, Brenda was rushing to deliver a little pot of gold coins

0:04:53 > 0:04:57to the end of the rainbow before it disappeared.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00But as she rushed, the pot wobbled,

0:05:00 > 0:05:06sending the gold coins tumbling downwards into the rock pool below.

0:05:06 > 0:05:11They twirly-whirled through the water and scattered all over.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14One landed on the sandy floor, one landed on the mossy rocks,

0:05:14 > 0:05:19another fell into a little crevice, while another landed amongst

0:05:19 > 0:05:22Sally the Starfish's shell collection.

0:05:22 > 0:05:26There was even one that fell into the tangly seaweed.

0:05:26 > 0:05:31And Sidney saw all this with the wide-eyed wonder.

0:05:31 > 0:05:35But before he could look any closer, Buster the Crab appeared.

0:05:35 > 0:05:41"Emergency," Buster snapped, clacking his claws. "Everybody gather round."

0:05:41 > 0:05:45As soon as the rockpoolers heard Buster's call, they all appeared.

0:05:45 > 0:05:50Bertrum zoomed in, causing another little sand cloud.

0:05:50 > 0:05:55Sidney noticed that as the sand settled back down,

0:05:55 > 0:05:57it covered up the golden coins.

0:05:57 > 0:06:01"What's wrong, Buster, why is there an emergency?" Bertrum asked.

0:06:01 > 0:06:05"Brenda the Stork has dropped some precious golden coins

0:06:05 > 0:06:07"into our rock pool," said Buster.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10"She was delivering a pot of them to the rainbow's end."

0:06:10 > 0:06:12"Has anyone seen them?" BARKING

0:06:12 > 0:06:17But none of the rock poolers had seen the coins except Sidney.

0:06:17 > 0:06:20Sidney tried to tell his friends what he had seen

0:06:20 > 0:06:23but nobody would listen.

0:06:23 > 0:06:25"We'd better find them quickly," said Buster,

0:06:25 > 0:06:28"before there rainbow disappears."

0:06:28 > 0:06:32"I'm sure I can help," said Sidney the Snail eagerly,

0:06:32 > 0:06:34"because..." "No, you're too slow,"

0:06:34 > 0:06:37Bertrum the Butterfish interrupted.

0:06:37 > 0:06:41"This is a job for a fast fish like me.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44"I was going to untangle the seaweed but, erm,

0:06:44 > 0:06:46"I'll have to do that later."

0:06:46 > 0:06:50"If we all help to find the coins, we'll get the job done quicker,"

0:06:50 > 0:06:53Sally suggested. "All right," said Bertrum,

0:06:53 > 0:06:55"but I'll be in charge."

0:06:55 > 0:06:58"Let me know if you find anything."

0:06:58 > 0:07:02The rockpoolers went off to look for the golden coins.

0:07:02 > 0:07:08Sidney was the slowest. He inched his way along the sandy floor.

0:07:09 > 0:07:15"I'm sure I saw a coin land near here," he said to himself.

0:07:15 > 0:07:20Sweep, sweep, he gently brushed the sand with his feelers and,

0:07:20 > 0:07:24suddenly, he saw something glint.

0:07:24 > 0:07:28"Oh! I think I've found it," he said.

0:07:28 > 0:07:29BARKING

0:07:29 > 0:07:33Yes, Salty, yes, yes, he was a very clever sea snail.

0:07:33 > 0:07:38But Sheena the Shrimp had seen the coin glint too.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41And before Sidney could say anything,

0:07:41 > 0:07:45she'd plucked it up with her long antenna. "A coin!

0:07:45 > 0:07:50"I must show Bertrum," she chortled and off she bobbed.

0:07:50 > 0:07:55"I was the one who found it, really," Sidney mumbled to himself.

0:07:55 > 0:07:59Yes, I agree, poor Sidney, Salty. Yeah, that's right, yeah.

0:07:59 > 0:08:04Well, he inched his way over to the mossy rocks where

0:08:04 > 0:08:08he thought he'd seen another gold coin land earlier.

0:08:08 > 0:08:13So sweep, sweep, he gently brushed the moss with his feelers.

0:08:13 > 0:08:19Something glittered. "Oh, here's one," he said happily.

0:08:19 > 0:08:20BARKING

0:08:20 > 0:08:25That's right, Salty, looks like Sidney found one this time.

0:08:25 > 0:08:29Andrew the Anemone had seen the glitter of the golden coin too

0:08:29 > 0:08:32and before Sidney could say anything,

0:08:32 > 0:08:36he'd plucked it up with his tentacles and held it high, like a trophy.

0:08:36 > 0:08:40"Bertrum, where are you?!" he cried. "Look what I've found."

0:08:40 > 0:08:42WHINING Yes, Salty, yes.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44Poor Sidney. Yes, anyway.

0:08:44 > 0:08:47He inched his way towards Sally the Starfish's

0:08:47 > 0:08:49shell collection this time.

0:08:49 > 0:08:53"I'm sure I saw a coin land here," he said.

0:08:53 > 0:08:57And then he saw a twinkle amongst the periwinkles

0:08:57 > 0:08:59but Sally saw it too.

0:08:59 > 0:09:01"Shimmering shells," she cried,

0:09:01 > 0:09:05scooping up the coin with one of her arms. "I've found one!"

0:09:05 > 0:09:08WHINING Yes, I know, Salty, poor Sidney, eh?

0:09:08 > 0:09:12Whenever he found a golden coin, one of his friends grabbed it

0:09:12 > 0:09:14from underneath his nose.

0:09:14 > 0:09:19Soon, his friends had found nearly all the golden coins.

0:09:19 > 0:09:24They wanted to show them to Bertrum but they couldn't seem to find him.

0:09:24 > 0:09:29Just then they heard someone shouting from the seaweed.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32"Oh, ah, agggrgh!

0:09:32 > 0:09:34"Help!"

0:09:34 > 0:09:38The rockpoolers rushed over to see who it was.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40Ha-ha BARKING

0:09:40 > 0:09:44Well, would you believe it, it was Bertrum.

0:09:44 > 0:09:48He'd been rushing around so much he'd become tangled in the seaweed!

0:09:48 > 0:09:53Luckily, Sidney the Snail inched into action.

0:09:53 > 0:09:58"Keep very still, this is a job for a slow snail like me,"

0:09:58 > 0:10:03"not a fast fish like you," he told Bertrum.

0:10:03 > 0:10:08Sidney took hold of the seaweed fronds and ever so patiently

0:10:08 > 0:10:11he started to untangle them.

0:10:11 > 0:10:14"I'm free," said Bertrum eventually.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16"You've saved me, Sidney."

0:10:16 > 0:10:20"And, look, you've untangled the seaweed as well."

0:10:20 > 0:10:25It was true. The seaweed looked lovely.

0:10:25 > 0:10:30Just then the last gold coin fell out of the seaweed

0:10:30 > 0:10:34and landed on the tip of Sidney's shell.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37"We've found all the coins now," said Sally.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39"So you have," said Bertrum,

0:10:39 > 0:10:43looking at the pile of coins his friends had found without him.

0:10:43 > 0:10:47"Let's get them back to Brenda the Stork," said Buster.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50"We need to be careful, we don't want to lose them again."

0:10:50 > 0:10:54"That sounds like a job for a super slow and steady snail,

0:10:54 > 0:10:59"like you, Sidney," said Bertrum, grinning.

0:10:59 > 0:11:04So Sidney balanced all the coins on the tip of his shell.

0:11:04 > 0:11:11Slowly and steadily he delivered them to the rock on top, back to Brenda.

0:11:11 > 0:11:18"Thank you, said Brenda. "You are a particularly super sea snail."

0:11:18 > 0:11:22And she flew off towards the rainbow.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24Nice work, Sidney.

0:11:24 > 0:11:28For the rest of the day, the rockpoolers played happily

0:11:28 > 0:11:30in the rock pool.

0:11:30 > 0:11:37Even Bertrum joined in because Sidney had untangled the seaweed for him.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40And I had untangled my kite string by then.

0:11:40 > 0:11:44So we headed back down the beach to fly it.

0:11:44 > 0:11:49The wind was still a bit wild, so I held on tightly to the string.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Out at sea, guess what we saw?

0:11:53 > 0:11:55Can you guess?

0:11:55 > 0:11:58Yes, it was a rainbow.

0:11:58 > 0:12:01It really was a wonderful sight.

0:12:01 > 0:12:07Then we took turns to fly my kite as high as a rainbow

0:12:07 > 0:12:10until it was time to go home.

0:12:10 > 0:12:15And the tide started to come in and cover over the rock pool

0:12:15 > 0:12:18like a great seaweedy blanket.

0:12:29 > 0:12:31Come on, girl.

0:12:31 > 0:12:35So you see, Salty, it's good to be slow and steady sometimes.

0:12:35 > 0:12:38Especially when you don't want to get into a tangle

0:12:38 > 0:12:43and you're not in a tangle any more. You look beautiful, girl.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46Yes, all ready for a walk on the beach, are we? Good.

0:12:46 > 0:12:51So why don't you join us for some more Rockpool Tales next time?

0:12:51 > 0:12:54Goodbye.

0:12:54 > 0:12:55Come on, girl.
