0:00:55 > 0:00:58There we are. That's it. Oh.

0:00:58 > 0:01:02Hello, there. Salty and I were just doing a bit of tidying up.

0:01:02 > 0:01:06All these old newspapers and bags are causing a lot of clutter,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09so we're going to put them in the recycling.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11What are you doing in that box?

0:01:11 > 0:01:15These are for papers. What are you doing? Excuse me, girl.

0:01:15 > 0:01:19What's that...? Oh...! That's what you were after.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22See that? That's her favourite tennis ball.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25That's what he was after. Yes. I'm sorry, Salty.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27It's in your bed.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29OLD JACK CHUCKLES

0:01:29 > 0:01:32You know, come to think of it, that isn't the first time

0:01:32 > 0:01:36I've accidentally buried something rather precious.

0:01:36 > 0:01:37HE CHUCKLES

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Shall I tell you the story?

0:01:39 > 0:01:43Well, it all happened when I was a boy.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46In a twinkly time long, long ago...

0:01:48 > 0:01:53..I used to run down to play on the beach as often as I could,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55meeting up with my best friends

0:01:55 > 0:01:58Little Ernie and Little Sailor Sue.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02On this particular day,

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Sue had brought us something new to show us.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09It was a little tin bucket with a picture of a sun on it

0:02:09 > 0:02:11and it made great sandcastles.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14"Let's make a big sandy mountain," said Ernie.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16"Then we can put a sandcastle on top."

0:02:16 > 0:02:20Straight away we raced to see who could dig the fastest.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23I got a bit carried away, trying to be a digging dynamo.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25JACK MAKES WHIRRING NOISE

0:02:25 > 0:02:29The sandy mountain grew bigger and bigger.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32"Let's put the sandcastle on top now," said Sue.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36She ran around to my side of the sand mountain to fetch her tin bucket,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39but there was no sign of it.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41"Where's my bucket?"

0:02:41 > 0:02:44I had accidentally buried it,

0:02:44 > 0:02:46and now we couldn't get the bucket back

0:02:46 > 0:02:49without knocking down the mountain.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52"Oh, it doesn't matter. We can make another," Sue giggled.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56So we dived in and after a bit of digging, Sue found it.

0:02:56 > 0:03:01"Let's make our new sandy mountain even better," I said.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05"We could put pebbles on it," said Sue.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08So, we went over to the rocks to collect some...

0:03:08 > 0:03:10and while we were there,

0:03:10 > 0:03:14we couldn't resist exploring the rockpools.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19We gazed deep down into the glittery waters.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23And as we did so, a magical world

0:03:23 > 0:03:26appeared before our eyes.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32On this particular day in the rockpool,

0:03:32 > 0:03:35Sally the Starfish was playing with her shell collection,

0:03:35 > 0:03:38while Belinda the Blenny and Sheena the Shrimp

0:03:38 > 0:03:41chased each other through the seaweed.

0:03:42 > 0:03:46Suddenly, Bertram the Butterfish whizzed by

0:03:46 > 0:03:49and stubbed his tail on one of the many rocks

0:03:49 > 0:03:52that lay scattered on the rockpool floor.

0:03:52 > 0:03:53"Ow! Ouch!" he cried.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55"My tail! Ooh!"

0:03:55 > 0:03:57And then...

0:03:57 > 0:03:59he looked at the rockpool floor

0:03:59 > 0:04:01and he frowned.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04"This rockpool is in a terrible mess.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06"It needs to be tidied up."

0:04:06 > 0:04:08"Don't worry, Bertram.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11"We can all help you to tidy up," Sally said sweetly.

0:04:11 > 0:04:16But Bertram thought that nobody could do as good a job as he could.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19"No, no. I'll do it myself. Thank you very much," he said.

0:04:19 > 0:04:23So, Sally went off to play chase with her friends,

0:04:23 > 0:04:25while Bertram got busy.

0:04:25 > 0:04:30# Oh, how I adore a clean and tidy rockpool floor

0:04:30 > 0:04:33# A-dum-diddly-dum diddly-dum-dim-dom

0:04:33 > 0:04:35# Diddly-dum diddly-dum-dom... #

0:04:35 > 0:04:38He sang to himself as - zing, zing, zip, zip, whoo -

0:04:38 > 0:04:40he whizzed about the rockpool

0:04:40 > 0:04:43gathering all the stray bits of seaweed and shells

0:04:43 > 0:04:45that were making it look so messy.

0:04:46 > 0:04:50Then, he piled them up on top of each other

0:04:50 > 0:04:53until he'd made a tall tower.

0:04:53 > 0:04:58"Hmm, it's a bit wobbly and it isn't very pretty," he mumbled.

0:04:58 > 0:05:01But at least the rockpool floor looks tidier.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05And then...he felt rather tired.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07"Hmm. Time for a sleep," he said.

0:05:07 > 0:05:09"I'm worn out."

0:05:09 > 0:05:12So he went inside and, before too long,

0:05:12 > 0:05:14he was making snoring sounds.

0:05:14 > 0:05:17JACK MAKES SNORING SOUNDS

0:05:18 > 0:05:20And while he was sleeping,

0:05:20 > 0:05:25Sally, Belinda and Sheena swam over to look at the rockpool floor.

0:05:25 > 0:05:29"It does look a lot tidier now, doesn't it?" said Sally.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32Then Sheena squealed with excitement,

0:05:32 > 0:05:36"Look! Bertram's made a tall tower!"

0:05:36 > 0:05:38"A tower?" said Andrew the Anemone,

0:05:38 > 0:05:41who was passing by with Sidney the Snail.

0:05:41 > 0:05:47"Yes!" said Sheena. "Bertrum's tidied everything up into a tall tower."

0:05:47 > 0:05:50The tower seemed to sway a little.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52"But it is a bit wobbly."

0:05:52 > 0:05:55Sally looked at Bertrum's tower very closely.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57"Uh-oh," she said.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00"He's tidied up my shell collection.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03"I left it on the rockpool floor and now, look...

0:06:03 > 0:06:07"All my favourite shells are in the tower!"

0:06:07 > 0:06:11It was true. Dotted in amongst the little stones and strands of seaweed

0:06:11 > 0:06:13were Sally's precious shells.

0:06:13 > 0:06:16"Don't worry. We'll help you to take the shells out,"

0:06:16 > 0:06:20said Andrew the Anemone. "Bertram won't mind."

0:06:20 > 0:06:23We'd better be careful not to knock it down," said Belinda,

0:06:23 > 0:06:27looking at the wobbly tower rather nervously.

0:06:27 > 0:06:29"OK," said Sheena. "Let's start."

0:06:29 > 0:06:33She bobbed up to a cockleshell that was near the top of the tower.

0:06:33 > 0:06:37"I'll use my antenna to pull this cockleshell out," she said,

0:06:37 > 0:06:41wrapping her antenna around the shell and easing it out.

0:06:41 > 0:06:45The tower wobbled a little,

0:06:45 > 0:06:47but it stayed up.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51Belinda swam up to a pretty periwinkle shell.

0:06:51 > 0:06:57"I'm sure I can nudge this one out with my nose," she said.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00And nudge, nudge, nudge, nudge...

0:07:00 > 0:07:02She nudged it free.

0:07:02 > 0:07:06The tower wobbled a little, but it stayed up.

0:07:06 > 0:07:13Then Andrew got very bold and tugged out a tower shell with his tentacles.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16The tower wobbled. quite a lot. SALTY WHIMPERS

0:07:16 > 0:07:19Everyone gasped, but it stayed up.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22"My turn!" said Sidney the Snail.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25"I'm sure I could get that whelk shell out."

0:07:27 > 0:07:31Everyone held their breath as he eased out the whelk shell

0:07:31 > 0:07:33with his feelers.

0:07:33 > 0:07:35SALTY WHIMPERS

0:07:35 > 0:07:40The tower wibbly-wobbled, but it still stood...

0:07:40 > 0:07:41just about.

0:07:41 > 0:07:45Soon there was only one shell left in the tower, but...

0:07:45 > 0:07:47it was right at the bottom.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50"I think we'd better leave that one," said Belinda.

0:07:50 > 0:07:54"But it's my favourite shell of all," said Sally.

0:07:54 > 0:07:58Buster the Crab sidled up and offered to help.

0:07:58 > 0:08:01"I can get that shell out, it'll be a snap," he said.

0:08:01 > 0:08:03"You sure?" said Sally nervously.

0:08:03 > 0:08:06"Crab-solutely!" he answered.

0:08:06 > 0:08:08"I can't look," said Belinda.

0:08:08 > 0:08:13So Buster stretched out his claws and clasped the final shell.

0:08:13 > 0:08:18The tower wibbled and wobbled,

0:08:18 > 0:08:20and started to sway.

0:08:20 > 0:08:21SALTY BARKS

0:08:21 > 0:08:24"Watch out!" Sally cried,

0:08:24 > 0:08:25as it teetered wildly

0:08:25 > 0:08:28and tumbled down onto the rockpool floor!

0:08:31 > 0:08:33All the rockpoolers gasped.

0:08:33 > 0:08:38The stones and the loose strands of seaweed were scattered everywhere.

0:08:38 > 0:08:42"Oh, no!" said Buster, looking at the terrible mess.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44"I'm so sorry."

0:08:44 > 0:08:47"You were only trying to help," said Sally.

0:08:47 > 0:08:51The rockpoolers tried to build up the tower again and again...

0:08:51 > 0:08:53but it kept toppling.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56"What shall we do now?" said Sheena the Shrimp.

0:08:56 > 0:09:01"When Bertram wakes up, he'll be sad to see his tower has fallen down.

0:09:01 > 0:09:03"I'll go and ask Reginald -

0:09:03 > 0:09:06"he'll know what to do," said Buster.

0:09:06 > 0:09:10So Buster scuttled up to where the water meets the sunshine

0:09:10 > 0:09:15and there, clamped to his favourite rock,

0:09:15 > 0:09:17sat Reginald the Limpet.

0:09:17 > 0:09:21"O, Great Wise Limpet," said Buster.

0:09:21 > 0:09:25"We are trying to build a tower, but it keeps falling down.

0:09:25 > 0:09:28"What should we do?"

0:09:28 > 0:09:33Reginald rolled his eyes and thought very hard.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36"It is hard to build a tower,

0:09:36 > 0:09:40"or a rainbow, or a flower

0:09:40 > 0:09:44"without some very strong glue," he said.

0:09:44 > 0:09:48"And my sticky limpet glue is the best.

0:09:48 > 0:09:52"It takes a while to dry but, once it does,

0:09:52 > 0:09:54"it's ever so strong.

0:09:54 > 0:09:58"I couldn't stay on my rock without it."

0:09:58 > 0:10:01Buster thought that some sticky limpet glue

0:10:01 > 0:10:04was exactly what the rockpoolers needed

0:10:04 > 0:10:07to make the tower stand up,

0:10:07 > 0:10:11so he asked Reginald for a giant shell-full.

0:10:11 > 0:10:14Then everyone got to work gluing all the little stones

0:10:14 > 0:10:17and the seaweed strands in place, and, gradually,

0:10:17 > 0:10:19the tower grew and grew...

0:10:19 > 0:10:22until it wasn't long before

0:10:22 > 0:10:24the last little stone in the tower

0:10:24 > 0:10:26had been glued in.

0:10:26 > 0:10:29"Finished!" said Sheena.

0:10:29 > 0:10:33At that moment, Bertram whizzed by.

0:10:33 > 0:10:35"Hello, everybody! I'm not tired any more.

0:10:35 > 0:10:38"How's that tower of mine?" he chortled.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40SALTY WHIMPERS Yeah, I know, Salty.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43Let's hope that the glue has tried in time!

0:10:43 > 0:10:44Yeah.

0:10:44 > 0:10:47"It's lovely, Bertram," said Buster nervously.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50"I was just admiring it."

0:10:50 > 0:10:52But just then...

0:10:52 > 0:10:55the tower did a very odd thing.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58Ever so slowly,

0:10:58 > 0:10:59and before their very eyes,

0:10:59 > 0:11:04the top part started to curl downwards.

0:11:04 > 0:11:05Down and down it went,

0:11:05 > 0:11:08until it was touching the rockpool floor.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12All the rockpoolers gasped

0:11:12 > 0:11:15as Bertram swam up to take a closer look.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18"My tower," he gasped.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20"Look, it's...

0:11:20 > 0:11:22"It isn't a tower any more, it's...

0:11:22 > 0:11:24"It's an arch!"

0:11:25 > 0:11:29And then he smiled a great big smile.

0:11:29 > 0:11:31I love it!

0:11:33 > 0:11:36All the rockpoolers cheered.

0:11:36 > 0:11:39Sally was very pleased that her precious shell collection

0:11:39 > 0:11:41was safe and sound,

0:11:41 > 0:11:45and all the rockpoolers had fun chasing each other

0:11:45 > 0:11:47through their lovely new arch

0:11:47 > 0:11:49until it is time to go home.

0:11:53 > 0:11:57Ernie, Sue and I collected quite a few little pebbles

0:11:57 > 0:12:00in Sue's tin bucket, then we went back

0:12:00 > 0:12:03and we started making our new sandy mountain.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06For the rest of the day, we kept digging until

0:12:06 > 0:12:09we had made the best sandy mountain ever!

0:12:10 > 0:12:13It was dotted with little pebbles

0:12:13 > 0:12:15and it had a lovely sandcastle on top.

0:12:15 > 0:12:19SALTY BARKS Yes, it was fantastic, Salty!

0:12:19 > 0:12:21Well, then we played and played

0:12:21 > 0:12:24until it was time for us to go home.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28And the tide came in

0:12:28 > 0:12:30and covered the rockpool

0:12:30 > 0:12:32like a great seaweed-y blanket.

0:12:47 > 0:12:49Ha-ha! OLD JACK WHISTLES

0:12:49 > 0:12:51You know, Salty, one thing

0:12:51 > 0:12:55I've discovered about building sandcastles over the years...

0:12:55 > 0:12:56Great fun to build 'em,

0:12:56 > 0:13:00but it's just as much fun to knock 'em down!

0:13:00 > 0:13:02HE LAUGHS

0:13:02 > 0:13:08So why don't you join us for some more Rockpool Tales next time?

0:13:08 > 0:13:10Bye!

0:13:10 > 0:13:12Come on, girl!
