0:01:58 > 0:02:01You have enough pressing jobs to be getting on with.
0:02:01 > 0:02:03What are you up to today, then?
0:02:03 > 0:02:06The handle's come off this Toby jug. Look at that.
0:02:06 > 0:02:09I'll glue it back on when I get back to the Rainbow.
0:02:09 > 0:02:14- You've fixed that a few times over the years.- Yes, I have.
0:02:14 > 0:02:17Before I fix it, how about an ice cream?
0:02:17 > 0:02:22Oh, there's something wrong with my ice-cream maker today.
0:02:22 > 0:02:24Fingers crossed!
0:02:24 > 0:02:26IT GROANS

0:02:55 > 0:02:59- Seagulls! - I've never seen that before.
0:02:59 > 0:03:01You know what they say...
0:03:01 > 0:03:04"When a seagull's playing peek-a-boo,
0:03:04 > 0:03:08"it'll be a good day if you're wanting to glue."
0:03:08 > 0:03:10- Are you sure they say that? - Positive.
0:03:10 > 0:03:14Right, well, this is certainly broken all right.
0:03:14 > 0:03:17I think you need to call Sam Spinnaker.
0:03:17 > 0:03:21- She'll know how to fix it. - That's a good idea. I'll do that.
0:03:21 > 0:03:26- You'd go better fix that Toby jug of yours.- That's a good idea.
0:03:26 > 0:03:31I'll see you later, Emily. Thank you. Good luck. Come on, Salty.
0:03:40 > 0:03:42There she is. The Rainbow.
0:03:42 > 0:03:46But what have you got for us today, me dear?
0:03:46 > 0:03:48SHE TOOTS
0:03:48 > 0:03:51Hey-hey! Come on, Salty.
0:03:51 > 0:03:53# Dee-dee-dee-dee. #
0:03:53 > 0:03:54Here we are.
0:04:02 > 0:04:07Into your bed. Go on, into your bed. There's a good girl.
0:04:07 > 0:04:11Do you know, I have had a few drinks out of this old Toby jug.
0:04:11 > 0:04:15It's just good clean water and a hunk of ice. That's all you need.
0:04:15 > 0:04:20Yes. What about the time you wanted ice in your drink, Salty?
0:04:20 > 0:04:25Do you remember? Let me think. Ah, yes, I remember now.
0:04:25 > 0:04:28This'll crinkle your crab sticks, this will.
0:04:28 > 0:04:33Once upon a twinkly time, the Rainbow set off from Staithes,
0:04:33 > 0:04:39waved goodbye to Whitby and disappeared over the horizon.
0:04:39 > 0:04:42# Just Salty Dog and me
0:04:42 > 0:04:45# Upon the silvery sea
0:04:45 > 0:04:48# The sky is blue the sun is bright
0:04:48 > 0:04:51# The rippling waves make a wonderful sight
0:04:51 > 0:04:55# It's too hot to eat We both need a treat
0:04:55 > 0:04:58# Just Salty Dog and me. #
0:04:58 > 0:05:03What a scorcher of a day it was. It was hotter than a fireman's whistle.
0:05:03 > 0:05:08What Salty needed was an ice cube to cool down her drink
0:05:08 > 0:05:11but, sadly, we didn't have any ice.
0:05:11 > 0:05:15And then, we heard a little "beep"!
0:05:15 > 0:05:20I looked over, and bless my Dover sole, there was a little penguin
0:05:20 > 0:05:26floating towards us on a piece of ice, blowing his emergency whistle.
0:05:26 > 0:05:30"Ahoy there, young man, are you lost," I asked.
0:05:30 > 0:05:35The penguin nodded, so we helped him up onto the Rainbow.
0:05:35 > 0:05:41He explained that he was a member of the 123rd South Pole Rangers.
0:05:41 > 0:05:46He'd been on a sponsored waddle and waddled too far out on his own.
0:05:46 > 0:05:50He didn't notice that the ice behind him had cracked.
0:05:50 > 0:05:53He'd been separated from his friends.
0:05:53 > 0:05:56"We must get you back home," I said.
0:05:56 > 0:05:59"Will I earn a badge," asked the penguin.
0:05:59 > 0:06:02Salty wasn't sure, were you? No!
0:06:02 > 0:06:07The penguin had an address label tied to one of his toggles.
0:06:07 > 0:06:10"123rd Penguin Ranger Troop,
0:06:10 > 0:06:14"Outer Edges of the Antarctic Continent," it read.
0:06:14 > 0:06:17Well, I opened my map of the world
0:06:17 > 0:06:21and that was near the South Pole, which was right at the bottom,
0:06:21 > 0:06:26a long way from Staithes and very, very cold. "Come on, Rainbow.
0:06:26 > 0:06:31"It's time to set sail," I said. But the Rainbow wasn't moving.
0:06:31 > 0:06:36Poor boat. Its engine had conked out in the heat.
0:06:36 > 0:06:39Salty suggested we give the Rainbow a rest
0:06:39 > 0:06:43and we waved down a taxi instead. Good idea.
0:06:43 > 0:06:47Salty had a card which read, "Dolphin Cabs - just whistle."
0:06:47 > 0:06:49So we did.
0:06:49 > 0:06:55And bam! A dolphin taxi whizzed up, just like that.
0:06:55 > 0:06:57What excellent service!
0:06:57 > 0:07:01"Hey, the meter's running. Get on board", said the taxi driver,
0:07:01 > 0:07:04whose name was Donnie.
0:07:04 > 0:07:08So, we all got on board. The penguin was very excited.
0:07:08 > 0:07:14"Can I get a badge for this?" Salty wasn't sure, were you? No, no.
0:07:14 > 0:07:19"Where are you guys going," asked the dolphin. "South," I said.
0:07:19 > 0:07:24"Oakley-doakley." And then, before I could say any more... Whoa!
0:07:24 > 0:07:29..the dolphin sped off through the ocean. "Beep beep!" shouted Donnie.
0:07:29 > 0:07:31"Out of the way!"
0:07:31 > 0:07:35And then, quite suddenly - eek, screech! -
0:07:35 > 0:07:38- we came to a halt.
0:07:38 > 0:07:40Ahead of us was a crowd of fish.
0:07:40 > 0:07:44"Come on, come on, come on, what is this, a tea party?"
0:07:44 > 0:07:48yelled Donnie to the fish. The penguin was absolutely thrilled.
0:07:48 > 0:07:53"That was a brilliant ride," he cried. "Do I get a badge for this?"
0:07:53 > 0:07:57Salty wasn't sure, were you? No, no.
0:07:57 > 0:08:02Well, the shoal of fish briefly parted to reveal a traffic light.
0:08:02 > 0:08:06It was stuck on red and nobody could drive through it.
0:08:06 > 0:08:10"Well, that's it, then, I can't take you guys no further.
0:08:10 > 0:08:12"You got to go on your own."
0:08:12 > 0:08:15And with that, Donnie flipped us into the water!
0:08:15 > 0:08:19"Good luck!" he shouted, before zooming off.
0:08:19 > 0:08:25Well, there we were, floating in the sea, completely lost.
0:08:25 > 0:08:26And then suddenly,
0:08:26 > 0:08:30a snorkel appeared in the water in front of us.
0:08:30 > 0:08:34It was the famous explorer, Sir Francis Fear-Not.
0:08:34 > 0:08:39He had a waterproof map round his neck and knew exactly where we were.
0:08:39 > 0:08:44We explained that we needed to get to the South Pole. "The South Pole?
0:08:44 > 0:08:49"Why, I travel there all the time. You can do anything if you try."
0:08:49 > 0:08:54He gave a loud whistle and a submarine rose
0:08:54 > 0:08:56from behind some sea petals.
0:08:56 > 0:08:58"All aboard!" he cried.
0:08:58 > 0:09:02The next thing we knew, we were on board a submarine.
0:09:02 > 0:09:05The submarine headed off to the South Pole.
0:09:05 > 0:09:08We could feel it getting colder and colder.
0:09:08 > 0:09:12"Nearly there," said Salty to the little penguin,
0:09:12 > 0:09:14who had an icicle on his beak.
0:09:14 > 0:09:18Well, Sir Francis stopped and raised the periscope to check
0:09:18 > 0:09:20if there was anything on top.
0:09:20 > 0:09:26He was very surprised to see four penguins, staring back at him!
0:09:26 > 0:09:33Hooray! It was the rest of the 123rd Penguin Ranger Troop. Ha-ha!
0:09:33 > 0:09:36They had been fishing and the periscope
0:09:36 > 0:09:41had come up through their ice hole. We had done it. Yeah!
0:09:41 > 0:09:44The penguins were back together again.
0:09:44 > 0:09:48The Head Ranger thanked us and awarded our little
0:09:48 > 0:09:52penguin friend with special badges for bravery,
0:09:52 > 0:09:54adventure and waddling.
0:09:54 > 0:10:00He was really thrilled. "Thank you for getting me home," he said.
0:10:00 > 0:10:06And one by one, the penguins slid on their tummies into the sea.
0:10:06 > 0:10:09Sir Francis Fear-Not jumped back into the submarine.
0:10:09 > 0:10:14"Happy exploring!" he shouted. And he whizzed off.
0:10:14 > 0:10:20That left Salty and me all alone, standing on a large chunk of ice.
0:10:20 > 0:10:23What were we going to do?
0:10:23 > 0:10:28Salty reminded me of what Sir Francis had said.
0:10:28 > 0:10:32"You can do anything if you try."
0:10:32 > 0:10:37With that, Salty picked up the fishing rods the penguins had
0:10:37 > 0:10:43left behind and started to paddle home with gusto. Good old Salty!
0:10:43 > 0:10:47- What a survivor. She deserved a badge for that.- I- think so.
0:10:47 > 0:10:51Anyway, the ice started to melt all around us as it reached
0:10:51 > 0:10:56warmer sea, so you can imagine how happy we were to spot a rainbow.
0:10:56 > 0:10:58We had made it!
0:10:58 > 0:11:02Salty was very thirsty when we climbed on board,
0:11:02 > 0:11:04and do you know what?
0:11:04 > 0:11:08That slab of ice we were travelling on had melted down to just
0:11:08 > 0:11:15a tiny ice cube. Perfect to cool down Salty's drink.
0:11:15 > 0:11:17And once we had fixed the engine,
0:11:17 > 0:11:22we were ready to set sail for Staithes and home.
0:11:22 > 0:11:25HE CHUCKLES
0:11:32 > 0:11:37Did you like that story, Salty? Yeah? All true, of course.
0:11:37 > 0:11:39Mind you, my stories always are.
0:11:42 > 0:11:43Oh, look!
0:11:45 > 0:11:47Come on.
0:11:59 > 0:12:02- Can you deliver this to Sam?- Ooh!
0:12:04 > 0:12:08- Ho-ho! Look out, we've got company. - Can't stop, Jack.- Eh?
0:12:08 > 0:12:11- Sam's fixed Emily's freezer.- Oh!
0:12:11 > 0:12:14Well, it looks like the ice cream is back on.
0:12:14 > 0:12:17- HE WHISTLES - Come on!
0:12:17 > 0:12:23Hello there, you two. Look, I've been selling ice creams all morning!
0:12:23 > 0:12:25So, the ice cream is nice and frozen, is it?
0:12:25 > 0:12:30Oh, yes, everything running like clockwork. Thanks to Sam.
0:12:30 > 0:12:32She is a clever girl.
0:12:32 > 0:12:35- We've sold everything!- Oh, no!
0:12:35 > 0:12:38Well, you know what they say,
0:12:38 > 0:12:42make hazelnuts while the sun shines.
0:12:42 > 0:12:45And I'm watching them seagulls like a hawk.
0:12:45 > 0:12:49They'll let me know when the weather is starting to turn.
0:12:49 > 0:12:53When seagulls swoop the loop the loop,
0:12:53 > 0:12:56under your brolly you must stoop.
0:12:56 > 0:13:00Ah, that means rain! You'll need your brolly, Jack.
0:13:00 > 0:13:04Oh, well, in that case, we'd better be off. Come on, Salty, teatime.
0:13:04 > 0:13:08Oh, you won't be wanting this then, eh, Jack?
0:13:08 > 0:13:12Oh, I would not say no, would I? Oh, that's marvellous.
0:13:12 > 0:13:16- And what a wonderful Toby jug! - It matches your other one.
0:13:16 > 0:13:19- I couldn't resist. - It's great, thank you.
0:13:19 > 0:13:23Oh, I haven't forgotten you, Salty. Here you are.
0:13:23 > 0:13:25One of your favourite dog biscuits.
0:13:25 > 0:13:28Emily, come here. Mwah!
0:13:28 > 0:13:31You're a marvel. Look at that, Salty. Go on, girl!
0:13:31 > 0:13:35- Good girl, go on.- See you later. - Yes, thank you!
0:13:35 > 0:13:37SEAGULL CALLS
