0:01:51 > 0:01:54- Why did you have it delivered here?- To keep it safe.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56Why, is there a problem?

0:01:56 > 0:01:59No, it's just... It's a bit heavy, that's all.

0:01:59 > 0:02:00Anybody home?

0:02:00 > 0:02:03Oh, Jack, Salty, come in!

0:02:03 > 0:02:07- Thank you! Hello, Ernie!- Jack.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09- You're busy?- Oh! Busy, busy, busy!

0:02:14 > 0:02:18- Well, Jack needs somewhere to sit down.- Right!

0:02:18 > 0:02:20So, what is it, then?

0:02:20 > 0:02:22I'm so glad you asked.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25I'm absolutely thrilled with it.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28- Ernie, can you bring it over here, please?- D'you...?

0:02:28 > 0:02:30- What?- Perfect, thank you.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32- Right.- Hang on. No, no.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34I can see it perfectly well from here.

0:02:34 > 0:02:38Nonsense. Ernie loves this sort of work. Don't you, dear?

0:02:38 > 0:02:41Um... Yeah, anything for you, Miss BH.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Aah... Oh! Oh!

0:02:44 > 0:02:46You all right, Ernie?

0:02:46 > 0:02:49Aye, I'm fine. Just feeling a bit dizzy, that's all.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09Ta-ra!

0:03:09 > 0:03:12Ha-ha, it's a sundial!

0:03:12 > 0:03:15Oh, it's the perfect addition to the village

0:03:15 > 0:03:18and it's my job to sort the right spot for it.

0:03:18 > 0:03:22People will be able to tell the time without looking at their watches!

0:03:22 > 0:03:26A shadow falls on the number and that's how you tell what the time is.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29But don't you need sunshine to make the shadow?

0:03:29 > 0:03:33Well, yes, obviously! That's why I'm popping over to Emily

0:03:33 > 0:03:36to see when it's next likely to be sunny.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39Well, Salty and I need to do a bit of work on clocks too.

0:03:39 > 0:03:43Don't we, girl? We've got a ship's clock to repair, see you later.

0:03:43 > 0:03:47Miss Bowline-Hitch. Ahem! Good luck with the sunshine!

0:03:47 > 0:03:48Toodle-oo!

0:03:56 > 0:03:59There she is - the Rainbow!

0:03:59 > 0:04:02What have you got for us today, my dear?!

0:04:02 > 0:04:03Woo-woo!

0:04:03 > 0:04:06He-he! Come on, Salty!

0:04:06 > 0:04:08# Tee-dee, tee-dee! #

0:04:08 > 0:04:10Here we are!

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Come on, to your bed.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23Good girl, Salty. Yeah. Ha-ha-ha!

0:04:23 > 0:04:25You know what?

0:04:25 > 0:04:29This old clock doesn't need the sun to make it work.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31It needs me to fix it.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34Yeah. Oh, well, we'll do it later.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36You know what, Salty?

0:04:36 > 0:04:39That sundial reminds me of the adventure

0:04:39 > 0:04:42we had on that tropical island. Do you remember?

0:04:42 > 0:04:45The one with the palm tree on the beach, ho-ho-ho!

0:04:45 > 0:04:47Once upon a twinkly time,

0:04:47 > 0:04:50the Rainbow set off from Staithes,

0:04:50 > 0:04:52waved goodbye to Whitby

0:04:52 > 0:04:54and disappeared over the horizon.

0:04:56 > 0:04:58And as we sailed, we sang,

0:04:58 > 0:05:01# Just Salty Dog and me

0:05:01 > 0:05:03# Upon the silvery sea

0:05:03 > 0:05:05# The waves are wavy

0:05:05 > 0:05:06# The sea is blue

0:05:06 > 0:05:08# There's tropical islands

0:05:08 > 0:05:09And beaches too

0:05:09 > 0:05:10# The tropical trees

0:05:10 > 0:05:12# Were waving the breeze

0:05:12 > 0:05:14# For Salty Dog and me. #

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Ha-ha-ha-ha!

0:05:16 > 0:05:18Well, eventually,

0:05:18 > 0:05:20we stopped off at a desert island

0:05:20 > 0:05:23to have a drink of coconut milk.

0:05:23 > 0:05:27But there was something strange about this island.

0:05:27 > 0:05:30It was covered in a large number of holes

0:05:30 > 0:05:33and they'd just been dug.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35Whoever would do that, eh?

0:05:35 > 0:05:41Well, it became very clear when Salty noticed a shovel nearby

0:05:41 > 0:05:43with a pirate hat perched on it.

0:05:43 > 0:05:47It was that rascally pirate, Kitty Cutlass.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50And she stepped out from behind the palm

0:05:50 > 0:05:52brushing the sand off her hands.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55"Ahoy, Jack!" she said.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57"Kitty Cutlass!" I replied.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59"What are you doing?"

0:05:59 > 0:06:03"Digging for treasures," she grinned, with a glint in her eye.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06"Old Seadog's treasure."

0:06:06 > 0:06:10Salty's ears pricked up at the mention of Old Seadog,

0:06:10 > 0:06:14but I had to explain to her that a seadog is not a dog at all.

0:06:14 > 0:06:17It's the name for an old sailor.

0:06:17 > 0:06:20But I don't think she believed me.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22"Look!" said Kitty.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25And she showed us a tattered message

0:06:25 > 0:06:27which she'd found in a bottle.

0:06:27 > 0:06:30It read, "Old Seadog's treasure.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33"On One Tree Island my treasure lies

0:06:33 > 0:06:36"Hidden from the weather and the skies.

0:06:36 > 0:06:39"Buried in the shadow of the single tree."

0:06:39 > 0:06:44Yeah, Kitty was definitely in the right place. One Tree Island.

0:06:44 > 0:06:48And she had been digging in the shadow of the single tree

0:06:48 > 0:06:51all morning, but without success.

0:06:51 > 0:06:55The trouble was, as the sun moved across the sky,

0:06:55 > 0:06:59the shadow of the tree moved too, like a big sundial.

0:06:59 > 0:07:03So Kitty made us an offer.

0:07:03 > 0:07:09"I will share half the treasure if you two shipmates help me dig."

0:07:09 > 0:07:12Well, Salty seemed very keen on Seadog's treasure,

0:07:12 > 0:07:14so we started digging.

0:07:14 > 0:07:20But several hours and many holes later, we had found no treasure.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23I was about to tell Salty that we should call it a day

0:07:23 > 0:07:27when I saw that she was examining a bottle.

0:07:27 > 0:07:29It was Old Seadog's bottle,

0:07:29 > 0:07:31the one that the message had come in.

0:07:31 > 0:07:34Salty had found something inside,

0:07:34 > 0:07:38a small piece of torn paper, and would you believe it?

0:07:38 > 0:07:40In a hurry to grab the message,

0:07:40 > 0:07:42Kitty had ripped the paper

0:07:42 > 0:07:45and left part of the message in the bottle.

0:07:45 > 0:07:48This part of the message read,

0:07:48 > 0:07:54"X marks the spot when the clock strikes three."

0:07:54 > 0:07:56Pop! Of course!

0:07:56 > 0:07:59It was the last line of the poem.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02"Buried in the shadow of the single tree

0:08:02 > 0:08:06"X marks the spot when the clock strikes three!"

0:08:06 > 0:08:10Well, I consulted my pocket watch and...what a bit of luck -

0:08:10 > 0:08:12it was just coming up to three.

0:08:12 > 0:08:17Well, as the watch chimed, the shadow of the tree

0:08:17 > 0:08:19met with a pattern of shells

0:08:19 > 0:08:20on the sand,

0:08:20 > 0:08:22making a perfect cross.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25"X marks the spot!"

0:08:25 > 0:08:26So we started digging

0:08:26 > 0:08:30and, very quickly, we came upon a treasure chest.

0:08:30 > 0:08:34"Old Seadog's treasure!" Kitty exclaimed.

0:08:34 > 0:08:36"I found it at last!"

0:08:36 > 0:08:39What did she mean she'd found it?

0:08:39 > 0:08:41But before I could ask her,

0:08:41 > 0:08:44she'd nabbed the chest and started running down the beach.

0:08:44 > 0:08:48"But you said you'd share the treasure!" I shouted after her.

0:08:48 > 0:08:50Kitty, she just laughed at us.

0:08:50 > 0:08:54She jumped onto her ship, the Hurly-Burly, fired up the engine!

0:08:54 > 0:08:56While we rushed to the Rainbow

0:08:56 > 0:08:58we leapt in and we gave chase.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04But the poor old Rainbow wasn't built for chases.

0:09:04 > 0:09:07She huffed and she puffed

0:09:07 > 0:09:09and she puffed and she puffed...

0:09:09 > 0:09:11And then...bang!

0:09:11 > 0:09:15Once again, the engine broke down.

0:09:15 > 0:09:20Salty let out a howl of dismay as she watched Kitty getting away.

0:09:20 > 0:09:21"Awoooooo!"

0:09:21 > 0:09:24Didn't you? Yeah.

0:09:24 > 0:09:28Well, I think our fishy friends must have heard Salty's howl,

0:09:28 > 0:09:33because, suddenly, behind the boat, up popped Mr and Mrs Cod,

0:09:33 > 0:09:37Charlie Squid and Bluey the Whale.

0:09:37 > 0:09:41"We are ready when you are," called out Mrs Cod.

0:09:41 > 0:09:45"Aren't we, Harold?" "Yes, dear," said Harold.

0:09:45 > 0:09:49And with that, they all gave a mighty heave.

0:09:49 > 0:09:53And the Rainbow reared up and charged off.

0:09:53 > 0:09:57Salty's whiskers whiffled like they'd never whiffled before!

0:09:57 > 0:10:00Up ahead, the Hurly-Burly was getting closer,

0:10:00 > 0:10:02we were catching up, but not fast enough.

0:10:02 > 0:10:06And just then, we heard a flappety flapping above,

0:10:06 > 0:10:08and, out of the clear blue sky,

0:10:08 > 0:10:11appeared our lovely friend Brenda the Stalk.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13"Special delivery!" she called.

0:10:13 > 0:10:17She was holding a large coconut.

0:10:17 > 0:10:21She flew over the Hurly-Burly and, with a perfect shot,

0:10:21 > 0:10:25she dropped the coconut right onto Kitty's funnel.

0:10:25 > 0:10:29"What are you doing?" said Kitty crossly.

0:10:29 > 0:10:33And then, we realised what was going on.

0:10:33 > 0:10:37The steam from the boiler couldn't come out of the funnel

0:10:37 > 0:10:39because of the coconut.

0:10:39 > 0:10:42Instead, the steam started to build up

0:10:42 > 0:10:46and then, a startled Kitty heard a big BANG!

0:10:46 > 0:10:48The boiler had blown up.

0:10:48 > 0:10:51Well, the Hurly-Burly quickly came to a halt

0:10:51 > 0:10:54and we were able to sail alongside.

0:10:54 > 0:10:57"Hold it right there!" I said to Kitty.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00"You said you'd share the treasure."

0:11:00 > 0:11:03Well, she didn't really have any choice now, did she?

0:11:03 > 0:11:07So she sulkily opened the treasure chest

0:11:07 > 0:11:11as we thanked our fishy friends and Brenda for their help.

0:11:11 > 0:11:14And then we all held our breath

0:11:14 > 0:11:17wondering what the treasure would be like.

0:11:17 > 0:11:20Imagine Kitty's surprise

0:11:20 > 0:11:23when she discovered what was inside.

0:11:23 > 0:11:26Dog biscuits!

0:11:26 > 0:11:28"Dog biscuits!" she roared,

0:11:28 > 0:11:33"I did all that digging for this! You're welcome to them!"

0:11:33 > 0:11:36As she chucked the treasure chest high in the air.

0:11:36 > 0:11:39It landed with a thump... Oh!

0:11:39 > 0:11:42..on the deck of the Rainbow.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45Kitty then stomped off below decks

0:11:45 > 0:11:46to fix her broken boiler.

0:11:46 > 0:11:50Well, Salty now had enough treats in that treasure chest

0:11:50 > 0:11:52to last her a year.

0:11:52 > 0:11:57So I guess Salty was right all along.

0:11:57 > 0:12:01Old Seadog was a dog after all.

0:12:10 > 0:12:12Did you like that story, Salty? Yeah?

0:12:12 > 0:12:14All true, of course.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17Mind you, my stories always are. Ha-ha-ha!

0:12:17 > 0:12:19Come on, girl.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30Oh, look, Salty!

0:12:30 > 0:12:32There's Miss Bowline-Hitch.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35Ernie must have delivered the sundial.

0:12:35 > 0:12:39How is the sundial, Miss Bowline-Hitch?!

0:12:39 > 0:12:42It won't work without the sunshine, Jack!

0:12:42 > 0:12:43Well, that's a shame!

0:12:43 > 0:12:48I mean, you and Ernie have put a lot of effort into that thing.

0:12:50 > 0:12:53I do wish that sun would shine!

0:12:55 > 0:12:58HE SNORES

0:13:03 > 0:13:04Oh!

0:13:06 > 0:13:09Oh, the weather's changed!

0:13:09 > 0:13:12The sun's come out!

0:13:12 > 0:13:14The sun is shining on the sundial!

0:13:14 > 0:13:16It's pointing at three!

0:13:16 > 0:13:18It's three o'clock!

0:13:18 > 0:13:21You know what, then, Miss, don't you?

0:13:21 > 0:13:23My sundial's a success!

0:13:23 > 0:13:28No, no, no! It means it's time for tea and cakes at the Mermaid!

0:13:28 > 0:13:31All right! I'll see you there! Just you and me!

0:13:31 > 0:13:34See you there! Ooh!
