0:02:04 > 0:02:07Yes, it is. I've asked everybody

0:02:07 > 0:02:09for an unusual flowerpot to put my flowers in.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13- Ernie got me this beautiful shell. - Oh! A shell for Shelly.

0:02:13 > 0:02:18- It's appropriate, isn't it. - Yes. Sam gave me this...paint tin.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21And Emily gave me this sandcastle bucket.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25- And what did Miss Bowline-Hitch come up with?- Ta-da!

0:02:25 > 0:02:27- SHE LAUGHS - What, a wellie?

0:02:27 > 0:02:31Yeah. I think this will make a most unusual flowerpot.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35- Oh, and Sam fixed my display table. - That's good. Lovely.- It's perfect.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38- Oh! - SALTY DOG WHINES

0:02:49 > 0:02:52I was going to polish the potholes on The Rainbow.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57- Perfect, Jack. Bye! - Bye.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01She seemed a bit keen to get rid of us. I wonder why?

0:03:01 > 0:03:03I wonder why?

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Come on. Come on.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14- SHE LAUGHS - That's better.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28There she is!

0:03:28 > 0:03:29The Rainbow!

0:03:29 > 0:03:32What have you got for us today, my dear?

0:03:32 > 0:03:33HOOT!

0:03:33 > 0:03:35HE LAUGHS

0:03:35 > 0:03:37- Come on, Salty. - HE HUMS

0:03:39 > 0:03:40Here we are.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44CREAKING

0:03:46 > 0:03:48HOOT!

0:03:48 > 0:03:53Now then, before I start, Salty, I've got to find something unusual

0:03:53 > 0:03:56for Shelly to use as a flowerpot.

0:03:56 > 0:04:01You know, something more unusual than a Wellington boot.

0:04:01 > 0:04:05Just something unusual that will hold a flower.

0:04:05 > 0:04:09I don't know. Let's have a look.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12See what I've got...

0:04:12 > 0:04:15What have you...? Give it me.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17That's it. Good girl.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19Look at that old magician's top hat.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22You are the best dog on this boat, you are.

0:04:22 > 0:04:27Fantastic! Do you know, that brings back some memories, that does.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30Do you remember how we came by this hat?

0:04:30 > 0:04:33Once upon a twinkly time,

0:04:33 > 0:04:37The Rainbow set off from Staithes, waved goodbye to Whitby,

0:04:37 > 0:04:41and disappeared over the horizon.

0:04:41 > 0:04:43And as we sailed, we sang.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45# Just Salty Dog and me

0:04:45 > 0:04:48# Sailing the tropical sea

0:04:48 > 0:04:51# The colourful creatures create a great show

0:04:51 > 0:04:54# There's millions of fishes all swimming below

0:04:54 > 0:04:57# We'll have lots of fun in the hot sunny sun

0:04:57 > 0:05:00- # Just Salty Dog and me. # - HOOT!

0:05:00 > 0:05:06And then suddenly through my trusty telescope I saw something.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10It was a colourful top hat washed up on a rock.

0:05:10 > 0:05:14Before we could rescue it, a strange thing happened.

0:05:14 > 0:05:18Out of the water popped a pink periscope.

0:05:18 > 0:05:22It slid all the away along the side of The Rainbow and then stopped.

0:05:22 > 0:05:27Then to our astonishment a pink submarine surfaced.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29Salty was most impressed.

0:05:31 > 0:05:33The hatch opened and out popped

0:05:33 > 0:05:37a very glamorous lady in a smart business suit who said,

0:05:37 > 0:05:42"Hello. I'm Coral Reef from Top Homes."

0:05:42 > 0:05:45"Top Homes?" I said. "Yes, that's right," she replied.

0:05:45 > 0:05:47"I'm an estate agent.

0:05:47 > 0:05:51"I help lots of sea creatures find homes to live in."

0:05:51 > 0:05:55Salty was very keen to find out what her job was like.

0:05:55 > 0:06:00And so Coral kindly invited us to come along for the ride.

0:06:00 > 0:06:04Well, we leapt into the pink submarine and...we whizzed off.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07As we travelled, Coral Reef explained

0:06:07 > 0:06:11that she was on the way to see Herman the Hermit Crab

0:06:11 > 0:06:12who lived far away.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16He was one of her trickiest customers.

0:06:16 > 0:06:20He never seemed happy with any home that she suggested.

0:06:20 > 0:06:23I had to explain to Salty that while most crabs

0:06:23 > 0:06:27have shells as part of their bodies hermit crabs don't,

0:06:27 > 0:06:31so they have to find other shells to live inside.

0:06:31 > 0:06:36Salty said she preferred her dog house at home.

0:06:36 > 0:06:40Anyway, finally we arrived at a very nice-looking winkle shell

0:06:40 > 0:06:44which looked perfect for a hermit crab to me.

0:06:44 > 0:06:48But beside it stood a very grumpy looking Herman

0:06:48 > 0:06:52waiting for Coral Reef to arrive.

0:06:52 > 0:06:55"No more winkle shells for me!" he said.

0:06:55 > 0:06:57"I want to move up in the world."

0:06:57 > 0:07:00"I want a bigger, more colourful home,

0:07:00 > 0:07:05"something to show off to my friends. Show me a top home, Coral."

0:07:05 > 0:07:08He certainly did seem full of himself.

0:07:08 > 0:07:10He didn't even say please.

0:07:10 > 0:07:12So Coral Reef took us

0:07:12 > 0:07:17to a rather lovely whelk shell that was a little bigger.

0:07:17 > 0:07:19She knocked politely...

0:07:19 > 0:07:23just to make sure that it wasn't already occupied.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26"You call this a top home?!" sneered Herman.

0:07:26 > 0:07:29"It's not right at all! A top crab like me

0:07:29 > 0:07:33"needs something bigger and more colourful than this kind of home!"

0:07:33 > 0:07:37"How could I possibly entertain all my friends in that?!"

0:07:37 > 0:07:43This hermit crab definitely had big, colourful ideas.

0:07:43 > 0:07:48Salty was keen to know what sort of colour he was looking for.

0:07:48 > 0:07:55"Red, yellow, orange, something eye-catching," he told her.

0:07:55 > 0:08:00Mr and Mrs Cod swam by and they sucked in their fishy cheeks.

0:08:00 > 0:08:03"We don't go for bright colours round here."

0:08:03 > 0:08:05"Do we, Harold?" said Mrs Cod.

0:08:05 > 0:08:09"No, Penelope," said Mr Cod.

0:08:09 > 0:08:14And then I remembered that there were lots of amazing large shells

0:08:14 > 0:08:18in many bright colours in the tropics where we'd been fishing.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21Well, after that there was no stopping Herman.

0:08:21 > 0:08:25We just had to visit the tropics. Now!

0:08:25 > 0:08:28We whizzed through the water so fast

0:08:28 > 0:08:31that Salty's whiskers started to whiffle.

0:08:31 > 0:08:35"Faster! Faster!" shouted Herman.

0:08:35 > 0:08:39Finally, after a lot of whizzing, we made it.

0:08:39 > 0:08:44The tropical waters were full of colourful sights.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46Salty, she went bounding off

0:08:46 > 0:08:50to sniff at a large yellow helmet shell.

0:08:50 > 0:08:54"Hmm! Not sure," said Herman.

0:08:54 > 0:08:57He really was very difficult to please.

0:08:57 > 0:09:01Coral Reef knocked politely at the shell.

0:09:01 > 0:09:06To our surprise the long nose of a pipe fish

0:09:06 > 0:09:12extended out of the shell and then it started playing loud jazz music!

0:09:12 > 0:09:18Well, we loved the music, but Herman shook his head.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20He didn't care for this home.

0:09:20 > 0:09:26"This is a noisy place to live. It's not for me. Next!" he tutted.

0:09:26 > 0:09:30Well, poor Coral, she didn't know what to do.

0:09:30 > 0:09:35She'd shown Herman all the houses she could think of.

0:09:35 > 0:09:39But then Salty had an idea.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42- SHE BARKS - She remembered the top hat

0:09:42 > 0:09:45we had seen washed up on the rock.

0:09:45 > 0:09:47Brilliant!

0:09:47 > 0:09:51We all whizzed over to the rock and popped up onto the surface.

0:09:51 > 0:09:55"How about the top hat?" I said.

0:09:55 > 0:09:59"Clack my claws," the hermit crab cried,

0:09:59 > 0:10:03"it's big, it's colourful, that's the home for me!"

0:10:03 > 0:10:06Well, Coral was thrilled.

0:10:06 > 0:10:11She had finally found a home for her difficult customer.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13And he moved in immediately

0:10:13 > 0:10:19into his grand new home with its colourful stripes and silken walls.

0:10:19 > 0:10:23Finally, Herman had the home he felt he deserved

0:10:23 > 0:10:27and he sat there waiting for all his friends to come and visit.

0:10:27 > 0:10:28HE CHUCKLES

0:10:28 > 0:10:30And he waited...

0:10:30 > 0:10:33and he waited...

0:10:33 > 0:10:37and he waited, but nobody came.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39And after a long waiting while,

0:10:39 > 0:10:43Herman started to feel very, very lonely.

0:10:43 > 0:10:48He had been so busy trying to get a bigger, more colourful house,

0:10:48 > 0:10:51he'd forgotten all about his friends.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54They were now too far away.

0:10:54 > 0:10:59They couldn't just pop round, they never called,

0:10:59 > 0:11:02and now he was missing them all.

0:11:02 > 0:11:05So do you know what he did?

0:11:05 > 0:11:09Hmm? He called up Coral Reef.

0:11:09 > 0:11:14"Coral," he said. "I want a little winkle shell to live in

0:11:14 > 0:11:16"somewhere near my friends."

0:11:16 > 0:11:21"Hmm. Well, what about your old house?" said Coral.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24"That's still empty."

0:11:24 > 0:11:28"That would be perfect!" said Herman. "Thank you."

0:11:28 > 0:11:32It was the first time Coral had heard him say thank you.

0:11:32 > 0:11:37And she was so pleased she drove over in double-quick time

0:11:37 > 0:11:40to take him to his new house.

0:11:40 > 0:11:44Soon he was back in his lovely old winkle shell

0:11:44 > 0:11:47with all his friends all around him.

0:11:47 > 0:11:51And he told them all what a fool he'd been for ever wanting

0:11:51 > 0:11:57anything bigger and more colourful than his lovely home.

0:11:57 > 0:12:01And do you know what, he lives there happily to this day.

0:12:01 > 0:12:08And the top hat? Well, as nobody seemed to want it for a home,

0:12:08 > 0:12:13we thought we'd give it a home right here on The Rainbow.

0:12:13 > 0:12:19And I think I may have the prefect new home for it, Salty. Right?

0:12:19 > 0:12:24Come with me. Come on. Come on! That's a girl!

0:12:24 > 0:12:27- That's it. - HE LAUGHS

0:12:27 > 0:12:28HOOT!

0:12:32 > 0:12:34You like that story, Salty?

0:12:34 > 0:12:37Yeah? All true, of course.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40- Mind you, my stories always are. - HE LAUGHS

0:12:40 > 0:12:42Come on, girl.

0:12:49 > 0:12:50Well, this is odd.

0:12:50 > 0:12:55I was told my table had collapsed, but it seems to be all right.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58Maybe just another little tweak.

0:13:01 > 0:13:06There! Another good Sam Spinnaker job is done!

0:13:06 > 0:13:09- Table fixed? - Right as rain!

0:13:09 > 0:13:12Oh, marvellous! Come on, Salty.

0:13:12 > 0:13:15Here you are, Shelly.

0:13:15 > 0:13:19- Oh! What have you got for me, Jack? - Now, that is a special pot.

0:13:19 > 0:13:20I've filled it with soil

0:13:20 > 0:13:23and put some of your favourite flowers in it.

0:13:23 > 0:13:26- It's lovely! Thank you. - I'll put it on the table.

0:13:26 > 0:13:30- SALTY WHINES - No, don't worry. Sam's fixed it.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32Yeah.

0:13:32 > 0:13:34- Perfect! - Yeah.

0:13:34 > 0:13:36Oh!

0:13:36 > 0:13:39BOTH: Sam!

0:13:44 > 0:13:47Well, Salty, that's it for today.

0:13:47 > 0:13:50We'll see all our friends again next time.

0:13:50 > 0:13:56Oh! And we'll see you next time as well. Bye-bye.

0:13:56 > 0:13:58Come on, girl.
