0:01:50 > 0:01:52- Hiya, Jack!- All right, Ernie?

0:01:52 > 0:01:55- That looks heavy.- Aye, it is!

0:01:55 > 0:01:59That's it, Ernie. Keep going. Busy, busy!

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Is he doing a job for you?

0:02:03 > 0:02:06Yes. There's some holiday guests moving in today

0:02:06 > 0:02:10and I said I'd transport their luggage. Ah.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12The problem?

0:02:12 > 0:02:17- I'm afraid so. He's taking the luggage to the wrong house.- Oh.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19Ernie!

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Other way. Number 6!

0:02:22 > 0:02:25Yes, you're lucky to have him around.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29Oh, he's a real star, and he always has a smile on his face.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Well done, Ernie! Number 6.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36- Yeah, you know, somebody should give him a medal.- Absolutely.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38He does a sterling job!

0:02:38 > 0:02:39Next time I see him,

0:02:39 > 0:02:43I shall make a point of giving him a thank-you gift.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45< The door's locked!

0:02:45 > 0:02:48- At number 6?- Oh, hang on.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53It's number 9.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55Ah.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59Ernie, a word. Bring the luggage.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04- Yes?- Little mistake, Ernie.

0:03:04 > 0:03:09It's not house number 6. It's house number 9.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13- That way?- Yes, that way.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16This is actually very heavy!

0:03:16 > 0:03:21Oh, I'm sorry, Ernie. You must think me so rude.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25Let me carry something.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27Busy, busy!

0:03:27 > 0:03:30- She means well.- Yeah.

0:03:30 > 0:03:34Like I said, he deserves a medal for the work he does round here.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37Doesn't he, eh? Come on, girl. Off to the Rainbow.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39We've got portholes to fix.

0:03:39 > 0:03:40There we are.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43Oh, dear. Poor old Ernie.

0:03:51 > 0:03:53We've got to fix this porthole, haven't we?

0:03:53 > 0:03:57Well, that spanner's too big, isn't it?

0:03:57 > 0:04:00Look at that, Salty! Look what I've found.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04It's your rosette. Second prize for biscuit catching.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07Let's see if you've still got it. Oi!

0:04:07 > 0:04:09WHISTLES

0:04:09 > 0:04:11What about this? Eh, eh, eh?

0:04:11 > 0:04:13Oh, good girl!

0:04:13 > 0:04:17She always catches her biscuit. Well, nearly always.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19Go on, in your bed.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22Yes, there was a time you didn't catch it.

0:04:22 > 0:04:23Do you remember?

0:04:23 > 0:04:26Well, let me get comfortable

0:04:26 > 0:04:28and I'll tell you a tale

0:04:28 > 0:04:32that'll whiffle those whiskers, Salty.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36Once upon a twinkly time, the Rainbow set off from Staithes,

0:04:36 > 0:04:40waved goodbye to Whitby and disappeared over the horizon,

0:04:40 > 0:04:43and as we sailed, we sang.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46# Just Salty Dog and me

0:04:46 > 0:04:48# Upon the silvery sea

0:04:48 > 0:04:51# The waves are wavy, the sky is blue

0:04:51 > 0:04:54# The sun on the water is twinkly too

0:04:54 > 0:04:58# With the wind on our backs, we'll soon need a snack

0:04:58 > 0:05:01# Just Salty Dog and me #

0:05:01 > 0:05:06Well, Salty had been a good dog, so I gave her a special dog biscuit.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09Yes, I did. "Enjoy, Salty," I said.

0:05:09 > 0:05:11"This is the last one."

0:05:11 > 0:05:14I threw her the treat, but for once,

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Salty missed it and it flew overboard,

0:05:16 > 0:05:18landing with a splash in the water.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Well, Salty was very upset.

0:05:21 > 0:05:23She said, "Perhaps we should have gone on

0:05:23 > 0:05:26"the guided tour of the dog biscuit factory

0:05:26 > 0:05:29"instead of coming out on the boat."

0:05:29 > 0:05:33"Hold on a second," I said, looking over the side.

0:05:33 > 0:05:38"There it is!" Salty's biscuit was floating alongside.

0:05:38 > 0:05:42"I'm a fisherman - I'll fish for the biscuit," I thought.

0:05:42 > 0:05:44"A big strong fisherman like me

0:05:44 > 0:05:47"could catch a little floating biscuit. Easy."

0:05:47 > 0:05:50So I found my extra-special net,

0:05:50 > 0:05:52leant over the edge of the boat,

0:05:52 > 0:05:57and after a lot of scooping, I finally caught it.

0:05:57 > 0:06:01But when I examined the net, I hadn't caught the biscuit.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04I'd caught a tiny crab.

0:06:04 > 0:06:10"I'm so sorry," I said. "I thought you were a biscuit."

0:06:10 > 0:06:13"Charming," said the crab.

0:06:13 > 0:06:15Well, I explained what had happened,

0:06:15 > 0:06:19and she offered to help us recover the biscuit.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21"That's very kind of you," I said.

0:06:21 > 0:06:25"But I think you are far too small to help us save that biscuit

0:06:25 > 0:06:27"from the vast sea."

0:06:27 > 0:06:32I must admit, the crab looked a little disappointed.

0:06:32 > 0:06:36It shuffled sideways and perched on the Rainbow's rail to watch.

0:06:36 > 0:06:41I looked over the side and there was the biscuit, still bobbing away,

0:06:41 > 0:06:43and at that very moment,

0:06:43 > 0:06:46our friend Charlie the squid popped up.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49"Good day to you, Jack and Salty!" he said.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52"Is that a delicious dog biscuit?"

0:06:52 > 0:06:54"Indeed," I said.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57"Could you pick it up with your tickly tentacles?"

0:06:57 > 0:07:00Well, the big squid looked at the little biscuit.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03"Easy for me!" he said.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06He stretched out two long tentacles

0:07:06 > 0:07:09and gracefully curled them around the little biscuit,

0:07:09 > 0:07:13then gently lifted it out of the water.

0:07:13 > 0:07:15And we watched with bated breath,

0:07:15 > 0:07:19and the biscuit slipped through his grasp.

0:07:19 > 0:07:21Pop!

0:07:21 > 0:07:25The biscuit plopped back into the sea with a splash.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28"Don't worry," I said. "You've done your best.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30"Come up here, have a break."

0:07:30 > 0:07:33So Charlie wriggled aboard the Rainbow

0:07:33 > 0:07:36and gave Salty a friendly tickle.

0:07:37 > 0:07:39And then suddenly,

0:07:39 > 0:07:42there was an enormous spout of water beside the boat.

0:07:44 > 0:07:48Our friend Bluey the blue whale popped up. He was very excited.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50"Can I carry it to you on my big back?

0:07:50 > 0:07:54"It'll be easy-peasy squirty squeezy!"

0:07:54 > 0:07:56He dived underwater, swam under the biscuit

0:07:56 > 0:07:58and then rose to the surface

0:07:58 > 0:08:03with the biscuit carefully balanced on his back.

0:08:03 > 0:08:04Look at that!

0:08:04 > 0:08:09"Bless my barnacles, he's done it!" I whispered to Salty.

0:08:09 > 0:08:14Well, Bluey carefully ferried the tiny biscuit towards us,

0:08:14 > 0:08:18but just as he was close to the boat,

0:08:18 > 0:08:22he blew out a sigh of relief, and...

0:08:22 > 0:08:24Pssshhhhh!

0:08:24 > 0:08:27His waterspout sent the biscuit flying into the air.

0:08:27 > 0:08:33The biscuit zoomed off like a rocket and disappeared through a cloud.

0:08:33 > 0:08:37It passed the moon and stars, it whizzed around a distant planet,

0:08:37 > 0:08:42then fell back to earth, plunging back into the sea with a splash.

0:08:42 > 0:08:46"Never mind, Bluey," I said to the disappointed whale.

0:08:46 > 0:08:51Once again, the biscuit calmly bobbed alongside the Rainbow

0:08:51 > 0:08:52as if nothing had happened.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55Thelma the dragon joined us next.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58"I shall fly over the small biscuit, swoop down,

0:08:58 > 0:09:01"pick it up in my mouth. Easy-peasy!"

0:09:01 > 0:09:06Well, when Thelma approached the biscuit,

0:09:06 > 0:09:09fire billowed from her mouth.

0:09:09 > 0:09:10"Stop!" we all shouted.

0:09:10 > 0:09:12SALTY BARKS

0:09:12 > 0:09:14"You'll burn the biscuit!"

0:09:14 > 0:09:17In the nick of time, the dragon came to a halt.

0:09:17 > 0:09:22Like Charlie the big squid and Bluey the huge blue whale,

0:09:22 > 0:09:27Thelma the enormous dragon was upset

0:09:27 > 0:09:31that she couldn't rescue one little biscuit,

0:09:31 > 0:09:34and now it was floating away.

0:09:34 > 0:09:38"Follow that biscuit!" I yelled.

0:09:38 > 0:09:42Well, with Thelma sat on the Rainbow's funnel,

0:09:42 > 0:09:44Bluey rushing alongside,

0:09:44 > 0:09:48Salty, Charlie, the little crab and me on deck,

0:09:48 > 0:09:50we gave chase.

0:09:50 > 0:09:53Around the world we went, passing tropical islands

0:09:53 > 0:09:57and old pirate ships, until finally, finally,

0:09:57 > 0:09:59to our joy and delight,

0:09:59 > 0:10:02the biscuit was washed up on a rock.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05Salty thought it was time to mention

0:10:05 > 0:10:07that she was still quite peckish,

0:10:07 > 0:10:11so I dropped anchor close by

0:10:11 > 0:10:15and we tried to hatch a plan to save the biscuit.

0:10:15 > 0:10:18"I'll do it!" said Thelma the dragon.

0:10:18 > 0:10:21"No, leave it to me!" said Bluey the whale.

0:10:21 > 0:10:26"Nonsense, I'll do it," interrupted Charlie the squid.

0:10:26 > 0:10:29But when we turned back to look at the rock,

0:10:29 > 0:10:34to our utter astonishment, the biscuit had vanished!

0:10:34 > 0:10:37"Oh, no!" we cried,

0:10:37 > 0:10:40and then Salty noticed some bubbles in the water,

0:10:40 > 0:10:42and then the top of the biscuit.

0:10:42 > 0:10:46It was slowly rising out of the water nearby,

0:10:46 > 0:10:49and it was making its way towards us.

0:10:49 > 0:10:53And then, amazingly, it started climbing the Rainbow,

0:10:53 > 0:10:58and then it started walking towards us.

0:10:58 > 0:11:01Biscuits can't walk, can they?

0:11:01 > 0:11:04That's when I heard a tiny voice saying,

0:11:04 > 0:11:08"Excuse me. Coming through."

0:11:08 > 0:11:10It was the little crab!

0:11:10 > 0:11:14She was holding the biscuit in one of her claws.

0:11:14 > 0:11:18"My small claws are perfect for picking up small biscuits.

0:11:18 > 0:11:23"I tried to tell you," she said, as she passed the big squid,

0:11:23 > 0:11:27the huge whale and the enormous dragon.

0:11:27 > 0:11:32"Sometimes, being little is really useful."

0:11:32 > 0:11:36Everyone was very impressed that someone so small

0:11:36 > 0:11:38had managed to save the day.

0:11:38 > 0:11:43"It was easy-peasy, because I'm teeny-weeny," said the crab.

0:11:44 > 0:11:49Taking no chances, she handed the biscuit to Salty,

0:11:49 > 0:11:54who crunched it, munched it and licked her lips.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56It was the best biscuit ever.

0:11:56 > 0:11:58"Thank you," barked Salty.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00SALTY BARKS

0:12:00 > 0:12:04"Who'd have thought that such a tiny biscuit

0:12:04 > 0:12:07"could have caused such a huge fuss?" I said,

0:12:07 > 0:12:11as we sailed off for Staithes and home.

0:12:11 > 0:12:13Salty does love a biscuit, though.

0:12:18 > 0:12:22That was a good story, wasn't it, Salty?

0:12:22 > 0:12:24It's all true, of course.

0:12:24 > 0:12:26Oh, there's Miss Bowline-Hitch.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28Do you think she's found a prize

0:12:28 > 0:12:31to give to Ernie for all his hard work, do you?

0:12:35 > 0:12:39Ernie, I've prepared a little speech.

0:12:39 > 0:12:43It is with great pleasure that I make the award

0:12:43 > 0:12:45of Most Helpful Person of the Village...

0:12:45 > 0:12:48'scuse me, Miss B-H!

0:12:48 > 0:12:52..to Ernest Starboard, and in recognition of his good works,

0:12:52 > 0:12:54I present him with this...

0:12:55 > 0:12:57..trophy.

0:12:58 > 0:12:59Oops.

0:13:01 > 0:13:02Oh, bother.

0:13:02 > 0:13:04There's a problem?

0:13:04 > 0:13:06We seem to have lost Ernie's trophy.

0:13:06 > 0:13:10- It fell into the sea.- Listen...

0:13:11 > 0:13:13- What about this? - SHE GASPS

0:13:13 > 0:13:18A rosette! Perfect! Oh, thank you, Jack!

0:13:18 > 0:13:20Yeah. Right. Come on, then.

0:13:22 > 0:13:27Ernie, I present you with this rosette for...

0:13:28 > 0:13:31..coming second in a biscuit-catching competition?

0:13:31 > 0:13:34Oh. THEY LAUGH

0:13:34 > 0:13:37- Sorry! I forgot all about that. - Oh, don't worry.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39I don't need a trophy or a rosette.

0:13:39 > 0:13:43I just think it's wonderful that all my friends appreciate me.

0:13:43 > 0:13:45Thank you, both!

0:13:45 > 0:13:48Thanks! All of you!

0:13:48 > 0:13:51Come on, Salty. Let's go home.

0:13:51 > 0:13:52Well done, Ernie!

0:13:52 > 0:13:54Hey-hey!
