0:01:43 > 0:01:46Hello, you two. I'm just finishing off my latest creation.
0:01:46 > 0:01:48It's a summer fruits mousse.
0:01:48 > 0:01:50That looks delicious.
0:01:50 > 0:01:53Hello, Salty, what have you got there?
0:01:53 > 0:01:55Ah, it's her favourite ball. She wanted to bring it out to play.
0:01:55 > 0:01:59- I used to be a really good thrower - best in my school.- Really?
0:01:59 > 0:02:01Right - here goes!
0:02:02 > 0:02:04- Fetch!- Look at that!
0:02:08 > 0:02:09Oh! Crumbs!
0:02:22 > 0:02:25Oh! Oh, hello, Salty!
0:02:25 > 0:02:30This is a nice ball. What? Do you want me to throw it for you? OK.
0:02:37 > 0:02:38GULL SQUAWKS
0:02:41 > 0:02:44Oh! RINGS BELL
0:02:45 > 0:02:47Watch out for the mousse!
0:02:47 > 0:02:49- Oh!- Aw!
0:02:49 > 0:02:54Oh, dear! My summer mousse has turned into a big blobby mess.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57- I'm sorry, Shelly.- Don't worry, Salty, it's not your fault.
0:02:57 > 0:03:00- No, no, well... - I'm sure I can do something with it.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03I just don't know what yet.
0:03:03 > 0:03:05We'd better get out of the way. We've caused enough trouble.
0:03:05 > 0:03:09Come on, Salty, we'll get back to the Rainbow. Bye-bye, Shelly.
0:03:09 > 0:03:10Bye, Jack.
0:03:18 > 0:03:21There she is! The Rainbow.
0:03:21 > 0:03:24What've you got for us today, m'dear?
0:03:24 > 0:03:26RAINBOW HOOTS
0:03:26 > 0:03:29Hey! come on, Salty.
0:03:29 > 0:03:31HE HUMS
0:03:31 > 0:03:33Here we are.
0:03:41 > 0:03:43There we go, go on, in your bed.
0:03:43 > 0:03:46That's it, you curl up in there with that ball of yours.
0:03:46 > 0:03:51Ohhh! The last time we played with that ball, it got us into trouble.
0:03:51 > 0:03:52Do you remember?
0:03:52 > 0:03:54- I do! - HE CHUCKLES
0:03:54 > 0:03:59Let me get comfortable, and I'll tell you the story.
0:03:59 > 0:04:03Once upon a twinkly time, we set off from Staithes,
0:04:03 > 0:04:05waved goodbye to Whitby
0:04:05 > 0:04:09and disappeared over the horizon.
0:04:09 > 0:04:12And as we sailed, we played ball.
0:04:12 > 0:04:14Ha, ha! And we sang. Way!
0:04:14 > 0:04:17# Just Salty Dog and me
0:04:17 > 0:04:19# Upon the briny sea
0:04:19 > 0:04:22# Making the most of the cloudless skies
0:04:22 > 0:04:24# Taking a wee bit of exercise
0:04:24 > 0:04:27# We're bending and stretching and throwing and fetching
0:04:27 > 0:04:30# Just Salty Dog and me. #
0:04:30 > 0:04:34Ha! So there we were, happily playing ball when who should we see
0:04:34 > 0:04:40approaching but Kitty Cutlass, the trickiest pirate to sail the seas.
0:04:40 > 0:04:45We asked her if she wanted to play and threw her Salty's ball.
0:04:45 > 0:04:49"No," said Kitty, "I hate playing ball!"
0:04:49 > 0:04:54And the cheeky pirate tossed Salty's ball into the sea!
0:04:54 > 0:04:58"Raaaaaarrrrh!" whined Salty, while we ran to the edge of the boat
0:04:58 > 0:05:02and we looked down, but there was no sign of Salty's ball.
0:05:02 > 0:05:05As Salty and I stared at the waves,
0:05:05 > 0:05:11up it popped on the crown of the oddest-looking fish I'd ever seen!
0:05:11 > 0:05:14It was like a big strawberry mousse,
0:05:14 > 0:05:16with eyes!
0:05:16 > 0:05:21"Hello, I am a blob fish. Is that your ball?" it asked.
0:05:21 > 0:05:26"Yes," we said. And we thanked the blob fish for rescuing it.
0:05:26 > 0:05:28"Ohhh, please don't thank me.
0:05:28 > 0:05:32"All blob fish love playing ball.
0:05:32 > 0:05:36"It's our favourite thing in the world. Here, you have it back."
0:05:36 > 0:05:41And the blob fish flipped the ball into the air, high over the boat
0:05:41 > 0:05:43and Salty caught it in her mouth.
0:05:43 > 0:05:46"Nice catch," said the blob fish.
0:05:46 > 0:05:50Well, after that, Salty and the blob fish played catch for hours.
0:05:50 > 0:05:54The blob fish had the time of his life.
0:05:54 > 0:05:59Eventually, they stopped when Salty started to worry about hot paws.
0:05:59 > 0:06:03"That was brilliant," said the blob fish.
0:06:03 > 0:06:05"I've never had so much fun.
0:06:05 > 0:06:07I'm all alone at the moment,
0:06:07 > 0:06:11"and you can't play ball easily when you're alone."
0:06:11 > 0:06:14I asked where all the other blob fish were.
0:06:14 > 0:06:19"They've gone on holiday, but I'm the prince of blob fish
0:06:19 > 0:06:22"so I have to stay here and look after my palace.
0:06:22 > 0:06:24"If I had a princess to marry,
0:06:24 > 0:06:27"I could play ball at home all the time, but I don't,"
0:06:27 > 0:06:29he said sadly.
0:06:29 > 0:06:34Well, Salty liked the idea of seeing his palace, even if
0:06:34 > 0:06:38we couldn't provide a princess.
0:06:38 > 0:06:41"Oh great, come with me to the bottom of the sea
0:06:41 > 0:06:45"and I'll show you my kingdom," said the blob fish.
0:06:45 > 0:06:47"I'm coming too," said Kitty.
0:06:47 > 0:06:53So, before you could say "galloping seahorses", we were under the waves.
0:06:53 > 0:06:55After a long walk,
0:06:55 > 0:06:57we eventually came to the blob fish prince's palace.
0:06:57 > 0:07:01Oh, it was very beautiful.
0:07:01 > 0:07:06There was a huge table, all set out with silver cups and plates.
0:07:06 > 0:07:09"Let's have another game of ball," said the blob fish.
0:07:09 > 0:07:12"Then we can eat jam tarts."
0:07:12 > 0:07:16"Forget about playing ball, let's just eat!" said Kitty.
0:07:16 > 0:07:22So, the blob fish blew magical bubbles over the table
0:07:22 > 0:07:25and piles and piles of jam tarts appeared!
0:07:25 > 0:07:31"Did you see how the snacks appeared out of nowhere?" said Kitty,
0:07:31 > 0:07:33grabbing the jam tarts and scoffing them rather rudely.
0:07:33 > 0:07:38"I think that blob fish is a magic fish. I bet if you kiss it, Salty,
0:07:38 > 0:07:42"he will turn into a handsome prince who will give you lots of jewels."
0:07:42 > 0:07:46"I am not a blob-fish-kissing sort of dog," said Salty.
0:07:46 > 0:07:49"You kiss him!" "All right," said Kitty,
0:07:49 > 0:07:53who was dreaming of jewels and palaces.
0:07:53 > 0:07:58So before the blob fish could say, "Ugh, get off me!"
0:07:58 > 0:08:01she gave him a huge sloppy kiss.
0:08:01 > 0:08:05And suddenly there was a "kerpow!"
0:08:05 > 0:08:09When the bubbles had cleared, Kitty was gone.
0:08:09 > 0:08:15Instead, there were two blob fish and one was wearing a pirate hat!
0:08:15 > 0:08:19Kitty Cutlass had turned into a blob fish.
0:08:19 > 0:08:21"Oh, dear," the blob fish groaned,
0:08:21 > 0:08:27"Now that you've kissed me, you have to marry me and be my princess.
0:08:27 > 0:08:32"I was hoping I'd get a princess who wanted to play ball,
0:08:32 > 0:08:35"but not a jam-tart-scoffing pirate."
0:08:35 > 0:08:37Kitty wasn't pleased either.
0:08:37 > 0:08:40"Help me," she whispered.
0:08:40 > 0:08:44"I don't want to be a princess blob fish and I don't want to play ball."
0:08:44 > 0:08:47"There's only one way to break the spell," said the blob fish.
0:08:47 > 0:08:53"Someone else must kiss me, promise to marry me and become my princess."
0:08:53 > 0:08:59So, Salty and I decided to go and find a princess for the blob fish.
0:08:59 > 0:09:03"Make it quick!" cried Kitty.
0:09:03 > 0:09:06"Would you like to play ball?" asked the blob fish.
0:09:06 > 0:09:09"Not really," Kitty sighed.
0:09:09 > 0:09:11But what else could she do?
0:09:11 > 0:09:15She was a blob fish now and blob fish love playing ball.
0:09:15 > 0:09:18Meanwhile, Salty and I wandered around thinking of how we'd find
0:09:18 > 0:09:23a princess for the blob fish.
0:09:23 > 0:09:28Suddenly, Salty's whiskers started to wobble.
0:09:28 > 0:09:31She was having one of her bright ideas.
0:09:31 > 0:09:33She scampered back to the palace, where Kitty
0:09:33 > 0:09:37and Prince Blob Fish were sat with grumpy expressions.
0:09:37 > 0:09:39"I'm not playing any more," said Kitty.
0:09:39 > 0:09:44"I don't want a princess who won't play ball," said Prince Blob Fish.
0:09:44 > 0:09:47"But Salty's had an idea," I said. "Come on!"
0:09:47 > 0:09:51So, Salty led us all back to the Rainbow.
0:09:51 > 0:09:54Kitty and the blob fish waited in the waves
0:09:54 > 0:09:56while Salty and I went on deck.
0:09:56 > 0:10:00Now Salty ran and fetched her ball.
0:10:00 > 0:10:03"This is no time to play ball!" I said.
0:10:03 > 0:10:06But Salty, she then did a very clever thing...
0:10:06 > 0:10:10She tossed the ball into the Rainbow's funnel,
0:10:10 > 0:10:12pulled the steam whistle's string
0:10:12 > 0:10:18and with an enormous "pop-pop", the ball shot up high into the sky.
0:10:18 > 0:10:22It went so high everybody could see it for miles around.
0:10:22 > 0:10:25And far away, out at sea,
0:10:25 > 0:10:27who do you think saw it?
0:10:27 > 0:10:30Yes, it was another blob fish.
0:10:30 > 0:10:32She came rushing over.
0:10:32 > 0:10:35"You are a very clever dog, Salty," I said,
0:10:35 > 0:10:40"you remembered that a blob fish can't resist a ball."
0:10:40 > 0:10:45"Hello, you're lovely," said Prince Blob Fish.
0:10:45 > 0:10:48"Will you be my princess and play ball with me?"
0:10:48 > 0:10:52"Yes, please," said the new blob fish.
0:10:52 > 0:10:56She was so excited, she gave Prince Blob Fish a kiss.
0:10:58 > 0:11:01There was an enormous "kerpow".
0:11:02 > 0:11:05And the spell was broken.
0:11:05 > 0:11:09Suddenly, Kitty Cutlass was beside us again!
0:11:09 > 0:11:14"Thank you for finding me such a lovely princess,"
0:11:14 > 0:11:16cried Prince Blob Fish.
0:11:16 > 0:11:19"And thank you for finding me such a lovely prince!"
0:11:19 > 0:11:21cried Princess Blob Fish.
0:11:21 > 0:11:24And they disappeared into the waves
0:11:24 > 0:11:27to play ball together.
0:11:27 > 0:11:31"You are a hero for saving me, Salty," said Kitty.
0:11:31 > 0:11:35She was just about to give Salty a kiss but she stopped.
0:11:35 > 0:11:39"I'll be careful with my kisses in future," she said.
0:11:39 > 0:11:41We all chuckled.
0:11:41 > 0:11:46I said, "I think that's enough excitement for one day!"
0:11:46 > 0:11:50So we set our course for Staithes and home.
0:11:50 > 0:11:54Ha! Made a lovely couple, those blob fish, you know.
0:11:54 > 0:11:57Yeah, we've been invited to the wedding.
0:11:57 > 0:11:59Hm... More jam tarts.
0:12:08 > 0:12:10Did you like that story, Salty?
0:12:10 > 0:12:13Yeah? All true, of course.
0:12:13 > 0:12:15Mind you, my stories always are.
0:12:15 > 0:12:17HE CHUCKLES
0:12:17 > 0:12:19Oh, look!
0:12:19 > 0:12:21See them?
0:12:22 > 0:12:24Come on.
0:12:33 > 0:12:35Here you are then, one last throw. Are you ready?
0:12:35 > 0:12:37I've got it here. Ready?
0:12:37 > 0:12:39Go on then!
0:12:39 > 0:12:41SALTY BARKS GULL SQUAWKS
0:12:41 > 0:12:45It's all right, Mr Seagull, it's just a ball.
0:12:50 > 0:12:53Hello, Salty. Is this yours?
0:12:53 > 0:12:56Sorry about that, M.
0:12:56 > 0:12:58Hello, Jack, don't you fret.
0:12:58 > 0:13:03- Here, try my latest creation. - What's that?
0:13:03 > 0:13:05Actually, it's a joint effort.
0:13:05 > 0:13:07- With Shelly.- Oh, yeah.
0:13:07 > 0:13:12Yes, one Strawberry Blobby.
0:13:12 > 0:13:16- It's the latest in ice lollies. - Oh, yeah, ta.
0:13:16 > 0:13:20Shelly did find a use for that blobby mess we made!
0:13:20 > 0:13:21Oh, I like that!
0:13:21 > 0:13:24Ha-ha, I think you and Shelly are on to something here.
0:13:24 > 0:13:28Oh! I knew you two would come up with something clever
0:13:28 > 0:13:30after all that mess we made.
0:13:30 > 0:13:33We always do, Jack. We always do.
0:13:35 > 0:13:36Here you are, Salty.
