0:01:40 > 0:01:41Ha-ha! Hello!

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Hello, Jack! Hello, Salty!

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Captain Periwinkle, what have you there?

0:01:46 > 0:01:48Ice-cream machine, one of Emily's.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50I borrowed it while she was in the sweet shop,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52but it's not working properly.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54- Sam's trying to...- Fix it! - What's the...- Time?

0:01:54 > 0:01:58- No, no, what's the...- Flavour? - Rasberry Ripple, I think!

0:01:58 > 0:02:01No, what's the problem with the machine?

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Ah, well, every time I pull this lever... Oh!

0:02:04 > 0:02:06- Yeah.- ..that happens.

0:02:06 > 0:02:10- Well, I suggest you don't pull it, then!- That's what I said!

0:02:10 > 0:02:12- Have you tried...- Hammering it?

0:02:12 > 0:02:14- No.- Screwing it?

0:02:14 > 0:02:17- No!- Pulling the lever again?

0:02:17 > 0:02:21No! Not again!

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Have you tried asking Emily to help?

0:02:24 > 0:02:28It's her machine and there's nothing she doesn't know about ice cream.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30What a good idea, Jack! We'll do that, Sam.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32With you all the way, Captain P!

0:02:32 > 0:02:36We'll leave them to it, then. Good luck, you two.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40- See you later, Jack! Here you go, Sam.- Thanks!

0:02:49 > 0:02:52There she is! The Rainbow!

0:02:52 > 0:02:56Well, what have you got for us today, my dear?

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Heh-heh!

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Come on, Salty!

0:03:02 > 0:03:04Here we are.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14There you go, Salty, in your basket.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17Good girl, that's it.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20You know, girl, that funny old ice-cream maker

0:03:20 > 0:03:24needs somebody with a magic touch, I think. Oh, dear!

0:03:24 > 0:03:31Now, do you remember when we met someone with a magic touch?

0:03:31 > 0:03:33Do you, Salty? Little Flora?

0:03:33 > 0:03:36Yes, let me get comfortable,

0:03:36 > 0:03:40and I'll tell you the magical story of Flora's flute.

0:03:40 > 0:03:44This will make your whiskers whiffle.

0:03:44 > 0:03:50Once upon a twinkly time, the Rainbow set off from Staithes,

0:03:50 > 0:03:54waved goodbye to Whitby and disappeared over the horizon.

0:03:54 > 0:03:59Salty wasn't feeling her usual Salty self that day.

0:03:59 > 0:04:03She was in an iffy-offy mood, so I sang her a song.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06# Just Salty Dog and me

0:04:06 > 0:04:08# Upon the briny sea

0:04:08 > 0:04:11# All we've got is the day to share

0:04:11 > 0:04:14# Let's mosey together to who knows where

0:04:14 > 0:04:18# I'll bob for a while and make Salty smile

0:04:18 > 0:04:22# Just Salty Dog and me. #

0:04:22 > 0:04:25We'd set sail for the horizon and almost reached it when...

0:04:25 > 0:04:28"Blargh! "Brumm!"

0:04:28 > 0:04:32..the Rainbow let out a big billowing cloud of black smoke

0:04:32 > 0:04:36and that was followed by a "Chug!" and a "Clunk!"

0:04:36 > 0:04:40and a bit of the Rainbow's pipework fell off.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44"Oh, not you as well, Rainbow," I said, trying to fit it back.

0:04:44 > 0:04:49You know, the perfect way to cheer these iffy-offy moods

0:04:49 > 0:04:52is a visit to Moonstone Park.

0:04:52 > 0:04:57Moonstone Park is one of our favourite underwater places.

0:04:57 > 0:05:01If you need a spring in your step, that's the place to get it.

0:05:01 > 0:05:05It tickles Salty's whiskers with all the sniffs to sniff.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07But, best of all, is that Moonstone Park

0:05:07 > 0:05:11is where Flora Flowertail lives.

0:05:11 > 0:05:15Now, she plays the flute and makes Salty's ears twitch

0:05:15 > 0:05:18and her tail twirl.

0:05:18 > 0:05:22"We haven't seen Flora for a while, have we, girl?" I said,

0:05:22 > 0:05:25as we dropped anchor and headed below.

0:05:25 > 0:05:29The park was bursting with beds of sea flowers

0:05:29 > 0:05:31- sprouting from carpets of green.

0:05:31 > 0:05:35Salty dashed around faster than her feet could carry her!

0:05:35 > 0:05:41And then, suddenly, I heard a frilly, trilly flutey sound.

0:05:41 > 0:05:45It was Flora. I followed the music and there she was,

0:05:45 > 0:05:50a honey-coloured fish, playing a flute.

0:05:50 > 0:05:54Salty's ears twitched and her tail started twirling.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57There were lots of fish listening, as well.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00"Bravo!" we all cheered, when Flora had finished.

0:06:00 > 0:06:05"When we grow up, can we play the flute?" cried the cod twins.

0:06:05 > 0:06:09"Flora's fantastic! She is a very special little fish."

0:06:09 > 0:06:14"Oh, I'm not that special," Flora blushed. "It's my flute."

0:06:14 > 0:06:17"It was given to me by a Moon Maiden

0:06:17 > 0:06:22"and I'm sure it's the Moon Magic that makes it sound so beautiful."

0:06:22 > 0:06:25"A Moon Maiden?" I said.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28"We've met one of those, haven't we, Salty?

0:06:28 > 0:06:32"It must be very precious treasure indeed."

0:06:32 > 0:06:36And, with that, my words were caught by a bubble

0:06:36 > 0:06:40and floated off to the other side of the park.

0:06:40 > 0:06:43And who do you think heard them? Uh-huh!

0:06:43 > 0:06:45Kitty Cutlass!

0:06:45 > 0:06:48"Did someone say treasure?" she said.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51And her piratey eye peered at Flora's flute

0:06:51 > 0:06:53through her telescope.

0:06:53 > 0:06:57She was dazzled by the flute's glimmering shimmer

0:06:57 > 0:07:00and its Moon Magicy sound put her in a giddy mood.

0:07:00 > 0:07:05And, without a care for Flora or the fish that listen to her,

0:07:05 > 0:07:09Kitty thought, "I want that flute all to myself!"

0:07:09 > 0:07:14We'd no idea that Kitty was planning tricksy-tricks and devious deeds

0:07:14 > 0:07:17until Salty spotted her hand

0:07:17 > 0:07:21creeping out from a bushy bit of seaweed.

0:07:21 > 0:07:25She was holding a long sucker plant. It was heading for Flora's flute.

0:07:25 > 0:07:29"Look out!" Salty woofed.

0:07:29 > 0:07:33But with a slurp, the flute was sucked from Flora's fins.

0:07:33 > 0:07:37"It's mine!" cried Kitty, and she disappeared with the flute

0:07:37 > 0:07:40out of the park, back on board the Hurly Burly.

0:07:40 > 0:07:46Her ship caught a gust and she whooshed away.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48"Follow that pirate!" I shouted.

0:07:48 > 0:07:52"OK, jump on board," cried Donnie the Dolphin

0:07:52 > 0:07:55and, before you could say 'tizzely-squids',

0:07:55 > 0:07:58he dashed us back to the Rainbow.

0:07:58 > 0:08:01I fired up the boiler and we gave chase.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04The Rainbow can be a fast little boat,

0:08:04 > 0:08:08so it didn't take long for us to catch up with the Hurly Burly.

0:08:08 > 0:08:12Salty spotted the flute on deck.

0:08:12 > 0:08:16It was looking a little less glimmery and shimmery than before.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19"Give us back that flute, Kitty," I cried.

0:08:19 > 0:08:21"It's for everyone to enjoy!"

0:08:21 > 0:08:25Kitty scoffed, "I want it!"

0:08:25 > 0:08:29And with that, she put the flute to her lips and blew.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31THE FLUTE HONKS

0:08:31 > 0:08:36Out came a honking, swonking noise. Blaargh!

0:08:36 > 0:08:39Salty put her paws over her ears.

0:08:39 > 0:08:45The flute wasn't making the frilly, flutey sound we were used to.

0:08:45 > 0:08:49"This doesn't sound like treasure," Kitty said.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51"What a load of old rubbish!"

0:08:51 > 0:08:54She tossed the flute over her shoulder.

0:08:54 > 0:08:57It bounced off the Hurly Burly's rigging,

0:08:57 > 0:09:01snapping a rope and sending the mast crashing down to the deck. Boom!

0:09:01 > 0:09:03Right on the engine!

0:09:03 > 0:09:07"My lovely ship!" cried Kitty.

0:09:07 > 0:09:11The flute, meanwhile, flew up, in the air towards the Rainbow.

0:09:11 > 0:09:16"Catch it!" I cried, as Salty stretched out her paws.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20Now, paws aren't very good for holding flutes

0:09:20 > 0:09:22and Salty couldn't hold it.

0:09:22 > 0:09:26With a little wiggle, the flute slipped out of her grip

0:09:26 > 0:09:29and, sploosh, dropped right under the water.

0:09:29 > 0:09:34Salty dived in, her belly full of brave butterflies.

0:09:34 > 0:09:39I watched her paddle down and down, but with a gulping bubble,

0:09:39 > 0:09:43the flute was swallowed up by the sand on the seabed

0:09:43 > 0:09:46and was lost forever.

0:09:46 > 0:09:51"That useless flute has broken my ship," Kitty moaned.

0:09:51 > 0:09:56And she got out her paddles and started to row all the way home.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58"Serves you right!" I said,

0:09:58 > 0:10:02as a sad, bedraggled Salty climbed back aboard.

0:10:02 > 0:10:08We headed off to give Flora the terrible news.

0:10:08 > 0:10:12Now, all these adventures had put Salty and the Rainbow

0:10:12 > 0:10:15back in that iffy-offy mood.

0:10:15 > 0:10:18"Chug, clunk," went the Rainbow,

0:10:18 > 0:10:22as a bit of her pipework fell off again.

0:10:22 > 0:10:27"I'm sorry, Flora," I said, when we were back in the Moonstone Park.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29"Thank you for trying," she said,

0:10:29 > 0:10:33and her petally fins just drooped a bit.

0:10:33 > 0:10:37"I wish I could listen to you play your flute again,"

0:10:37 > 0:10:39the cod twins cried.

0:10:39 > 0:10:41"Maybe you could tootle the Rainbow's whistle

0:10:41 > 0:10:44"to cheer us up a bit, Jack!"

0:10:44 > 0:10:51And, with that, Salty's whiskers started whiffling.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54She was having one of her bright ideas!

0:10:54 > 0:10:56She bounded back to the Rainbow

0:10:56 > 0:11:01and returned in a flash with that fallen-offy bit of pipe.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04She cleaned it up, made it nice and shiny,

0:11:04 > 0:11:06and handed it to Flora.

0:11:06 > 0:11:09"Give it a toot!" I cried.

0:11:09 > 0:11:14"But I need a Moon Magic flute to make a nice noise," Flora said.

0:11:14 > 0:11:18"I'm no good without it. I'm just not that special."

0:11:18 > 0:11:21"Try it," we said.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24So, Flora tried it

0:11:24 > 0:11:29and out floated a frilly, trilly, flutey sound.

0:11:29 > 0:11:34The pipe started to glimmer and shimmer like moonlight.

0:11:34 > 0:11:39You see, Salty knew it wasn't the flute that was magic,

0:11:39 > 0:11:42it was Flora's playing.

0:11:42 > 0:11:47Moon Maidens only give gifts to very special little fish

0:11:47 > 0:11:50and looking at the smiles that Flora gave everyone,

0:11:50 > 0:11:56it was clear that she was a very special little fish indeed.

0:11:56 > 0:11:59"Thank you," Flora fluttered.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02"Toot-toot!" the Rainbow tooted.

0:12:02 > 0:12:06We left everyone listening to Flora's magical music.

0:12:06 > 0:12:12Night had fallen when we set off, so with a moonlit path leading our way,

0:12:12 > 0:12:17we headed back to Staithes and home.

0:12:17 > 0:12:22Flora's music was absolutely lovely.

0:12:22 > 0:12:26If you close your eyes, you can still hear it.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35Did you like that story, Salty?

0:12:35 > 0:12:37All true, of course.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40Mind you, my stories always are.

0:12:41 > 0:12:43Come on, girl.

0:12:51 > 0:12:53Heh-heh, here we go!

0:12:53 > 0:12:56Emily's come to fix the ice-cream machine!

0:12:56 > 0:13:00- Hello, Jack!- Nice to see you, Jack. Have you come for some ice cream?

0:13:00 > 0:13:03Yes, I have. How's the fix-it job coming along?

0:13:03 > 0:13:07There's a bit of a pickle. Every time Sam goes to pull it...

0:13:07 > 0:13:09ALL: Don't pull it!

0:13:09 > 0:13:12- I don't think I have any clean towels left!- Oh!

0:13:12 > 0:13:14I don't know what you're all moaning about.

0:13:14 > 0:13:18How did you do that? Let's have a look!

0:13:18 > 0:13:21- Oh, not again!- Oh, dear!

0:13:21 > 0:13:23I don't know how you do it!

0:13:23 > 0:13:25It's a gift!

0:13:25 > 0:13:30- Emily, you can stick to serving the ice creams from now on.- I will!

0:13:30 > 0:13:34And speaking of serving ice cream, could we be having some, please?

0:13:39 > 0:13:41Well, Salty, that's it for today.

0:13:41 > 0:13:45We'll see all our friends again next time.

0:13:45 > 0:13:50Oh, and we'll see you next time, as well! Bye-bye!

0:13:50 > 0:13:52Come on, girl.
