0:01:51 > 0:01:52What do you think?
0:01:52 > 0:01:55A fine job. Well executed.
0:01:55 > 0:01:56Thank you.
0:01:56 > 0:02:00All right, all right, will somebody please tell me what is going on?
0:02:00 > 0:02:03Jack, didn't you get the message?
0:02:03 > 0:02:04No, what message?
0:02:04 > 0:02:08It says here - "Grand reopening of the Rainbow Fish Stall today.
0:02:08 > 0:02:12"Come along and buy some fish. From the owner, Mr Ernest Starboard."
0:02:12 > 0:02:15- Ernest?- That's Ernie.
0:02:15 > 0:02:18You decided to rename Ernie's fish stall?
0:02:18 > 0:02:21Yes. Well, it was looking a bit shabby,
0:02:21 > 0:02:25so I told Ernie I'd brighten it up by painting rainbow signs
0:02:25 > 0:02:30and renaming it Rainbow Fish Stall, after your boat.
0:02:30 > 0:02:32Well, I'm very touched.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35I spent all morning painting these.
0:02:35 > 0:02:37CRASH!
0:02:37 > 0:02:39My signs!
0:02:39 > 0:02:40Oh, dear!
0:02:40 > 0:02:42Sam! Are you all right?
0:02:42 > 0:02:44I'm fine.
0:02:44 > 0:02:47Ohh! But the new signs aren't.
0:02:47 > 0:02:50Oh, no, this is ruined, I'm afraid.
0:02:50 > 0:02:53It's a disaster. And Ernie'll be back soon.
0:02:53 > 0:02:55Come on, Sam, I'll help you clear up.
0:02:55 > 0:02:59Well, we need to get off to the other Rainbow. Don't we, Salty?
0:02:59 > 0:03:01Good luck, you two. Come on, Salty.
0:03:01 > 0:03:03Oh, no!
0:03:09 > 0:03:12There she is, the Rainbow.
0:03:12 > 0:03:15But what have you got for us today, my dear?
0:03:15 > 0:03:17BOAT'S WHISTLE TOOTS
0:03:17 > 0:03:19Hey! Come on, Salty.
0:03:19 > 0:03:22HE HUMS A TUNE
0:03:22 > 0:03:24Here we are.
0:03:28 > 0:03:29BOAT'S WHISTLE TOOTS
0:03:32 > 0:03:35You know, Salty, it's very nice of Sam
0:03:35 > 0:03:39to name Ernie's fish stall after the Rainbow, isn't it?
0:03:39 > 0:03:42Still, it wasn't always called the Rainbow, was it?
0:03:42 > 0:03:45Do you remember, long, long ago,
0:03:45 > 0:03:49when this little old boat was called the Little Brown Tub?
0:03:49 > 0:03:50You stay there.
0:03:50 > 0:03:52I'll make myself comfortable
0:03:52 > 0:03:56and I'll tell you the story of how the Rainbow got its name.
0:03:56 > 0:03:59Yes, I know you know already.
0:03:59 > 0:04:03Once upon a twinkly time, long, long ago,
0:04:03 > 0:04:07the Little Brown Tub set sail from Staithes,
0:04:07 > 0:04:12waved goodbye to Whitby, and disappeared over the horizon.
0:04:12 > 0:04:16It was a sunny day and as we sailed we sang -
0:04:16 > 0:04:18# Just Salty Dog and me
0:04:18 > 0:04:21# A-sailing on the sea
0:04:21 > 0:04:23# Giving our backs and our tummies a rub
0:04:23 > 0:04:26# Sailing along in the Little Brown Tub
0:04:26 > 0:04:27# The wind's on our knees
0:04:27 > 0:04:29# We're chasing the breeze
0:04:29 > 0:04:32# Just Salty Dog and me. #
0:04:32 > 0:04:35Well, we hadn't gone far when we saw
0:04:35 > 0:04:39a stovepipe hat waving at us from the middle of the ocean.
0:04:39 > 0:04:41It was Charlie the squid.
0:04:41 > 0:04:46"Hello, Jack. Hello, Salty," he smiled. "Where are you all going?"
0:04:46 > 0:04:48"Adventure," I replied.
0:04:48 > 0:04:50"We're looking for adventure."
0:04:50 > 0:04:55"Oh, I love adventures. I'm coming too," said Charlie.
0:04:55 > 0:04:59So, I set our course for adventure.
0:04:59 > 0:05:03Well, we hadn't gone far when we ran into a terrible storm.
0:05:03 > 0:05:06Charlie wrapped himself around the wheelhouse
0:05:06 > 0:05:10and Salty hid in the hold, reading holiday brochures
0:05:10 > 0:05:14and making plans for a quiet trip to Filey.
0:05:14 > 0:05:17I steered us through the storm.
0:05:17 > 0:05:21And after a crashy, bashy, smashy sort of a ride,
0:05:21 > 0:05:24we emerged in the open sea.
0:05:24 > 0:05:28The sky above was white.
0:05:28 > 0:05:30The sea all around was grey.
0:05:30 > 0:05:34And the dots of the rocks in the distance were black.
0:05:34 > 0:05:40In fact, we were the only colourful things to be seen for miles.
0:05:40 > 0:05:44And then, a long, thin black object
0:05:44 > 0:05:48poked out of the water like a skinny periscope.
0:05:48 > 0:05:54As it came towards us, I realised it was a paintbrush.
0:05:54 > 0:05:57A diddy little fish with a glum look on his face
0:05:57 > 0:05:59was holding the paintbrush.
0:05:59 > 0:06:04Like everything around him, he was coloured black and white and grey.
0:06:04 > 0:06:08"Hello," I cried, "are you looking for something?"
0:06:08 > 0:06:11"Yes, indeed," said the glum fish.
0:06:11 > 0:06:15"I'm a painter and I'm looking for something to paint.
0:06:15 > 0:06:18"But everything here is so dull."
0:06:18 > 0:06:22We looked around at the grey sea.
0:06:22 > 0:06:25Salty suggested that maybe there was
0:06:25 > 0:06:29a better subject for a painting under the water.
0:06:29 > 0:06:34"Not really," said the painter fish sadly. "Come on, I'll show you."
0:06:34 > 0:06:41So, in two shakes of a stingray's tail, we were under the waves.
0:06:41 > 0:06:43And what a sight greeted us!
0:06:43 > 0:06:49"Welcome to Black White Grey Land," said the little painter fish.
0:06:49 > 0:06:54The whole underwater world was black and white and grey.
0:06:54 > 0:06:56No bright colours at all.
0:06:56 > 0:06:59All the fish looked sad and grumpy.
0:06:59 > 0:07:02"See?" explained the painter fish.
0:07:02 > 0:07:04"Everything's just a bit, you know..."
0:07:04 > 0:07:08"..dull," said Salty, Charlie and I.
0:07:08 > 0:07:13"I want to paint a picture for our queen to cheer her up a bit.
0:07:13 > 0:07:18"She's a very sad queen. Everyone's sad down here."
0:07:18 > 0:07:21Salty sniffed a greyish rock.
0:07:21 > 0:07:26Even she was starting to feel sad.
0:07:26 > 0:07:30"You've got no colour in your life," I said.
0:07:30 > 0:07:34"Colour?" said the little painter fish. "What's that, then?"
0:07:34 > 0:07:37"Well," I said, "look at me.
0:07:37 > 0:07:40"My jumper is coloured red
0:07:40 > 0:07:44"and Salty here is a sort of orange colour.
0:07:44 > 0:07:48"You see, where we come from, colours are everywhere.
0:07:48 > 0:07:51"We've got all the colours of the rainbow."
0:07:51 > 0:07:54The little painter fish looked a bit confused.
0:07:54 > 0:07:57He'd not seen any colours before.
0:07:57 > 0:08:02And then Salty's whiskers started wiffling.
0:08:02 > 0:08:06She was having one of her bright ideas.
0:08:06 > 0:08:10She rushed off in her doggy way and I chased after her.
0:08:10 > 0:08:14Soon, we were back on board the Little Brown Tub
0:08:14 > 0:08:16next to my important bits and bobs box.
0:08:16 > 0:08:18Of course!
0:08:18 > 0:08:22Inside were lots of old pots of paint.
0:08:22 > 0:08:25"These paints are all different colours,"
0:08:25 > 0:08:29I declared to the painter fish proudly from the deck of the tub.
0:08:29 > 0:08:32"I can't see from down here," said the painter fish,
0:08:32 > 0:08:33bobbing in the waves.
0:08:33 > 0:08:37Salty had another bright idea.
0:08:37 > 0:08:42"Paint the Little Brown Tub," she woofed.
0:08:42 > 0:08:44"Oh, marvellous," I said.
0:08:44 > 0:08:49But I wasn't sure, because boat painting isn't an easy job.
0:08:50 > 0:08:54"It is if you've got lots of arms," said Charlie.
0:08:54 > 0:08:56"Pass the paint!"
0:08:56 > 0:09:01So, Charlie picked up lots of pots of paint in his many tentacles
0:09:01 > 0:09:06and he set to work painting our boat with all the colours of the rainbow.
0:09:06 > 0:09:10Splosh, splash, splish, and sploosh, went Charlie.
0:09:10 > 0:09:13Salty and I hid under a tarpaulin
0:09:13 > 0:09:17because I don't know if you've ever seen a squid painting -
0:09:17 > 0:09:19it's a very messy business.
0:09:19 > 0:09:24And after a very short time, he had finished.
0:09:24 > 0:09:28"There!" said Charlie proudly.
0:09:28 > 0:09:31Salty and I peeped out
0:09:31 > 0:09:35and what a sight greeted our eyes.
0:09:35 > 0:09:37The Little Brown Tub
0:09:37 > 0:09:41had been painted in glorious colourful stripes
0:09:41 > 0:09:44every colour of the rainbow.
0:09:44 > 0:09:47It was a firecracker of colour.
0:09:47 > 0:09:51"What do you think?" I called to the painter fish,
0:09:51 > 0:09:54who was now covered in splashes of colour too,
0:09:54 > 0:09:56thanks to Charlie's sploshing.
0:09:56 > 0:10:00But the painter fish, he was lost for words.
0:10:00 > 0:10:04Instead, an enormous colourful smile
0:10:04 > 0:10:08grew on his once glum, grey face.
0:10:08 > 0:10:10"I'm off to show the queen!"
0:10:10 > 0:10:13cried the fish, with a smile in his voice.
0:10:13 > 0:10:16And with that, he dived under the water,
0:10:16 > 0:10:19leaving a trail of colour behind him.
0:10:19 > 0:10:22That's when a magical thing happened.
0:10:22 > 0:10:26The painter fish swam and swished through the water
0:10:26 > 0:10:28and with every swish of his tail,
0:10:28 > 0:10:33he painted colour onto the Black White Grey Land.
0:10:33 > 0:10:37Like a wiggly paintbrush, he painted colours onto fish
0:10:37 > 0:10:39and rocks and water and weed.
0:10:39 > 0:10:41And everywhere he went,
0:10:41 > 0:10:44he didn't just leave a world of colour behind him,
0:10:44 > 0:10:48but of world of smiles, too.
0:10:48 > 0:10:51By the time he reached the queen,
0:10:51 > 0:10:56he had coloured in the whole of Black White Grey Land.
0:10:56 > 0:11:01"Behold, I have something to cheer you up a bit, Your Majesty -
0:11:01 > 0:11:04"all the colours of the rainbow," said the painter fish.
0:11:04 > 0:11:07The queen was thrilled.
0:11:07 > 0:11:12She swam up to the Little Brown Tub and thanked us.
0:11:12 > 0:11:14"Jack, Salty and Charlie,
0:11:14 > 0:11:18"you have brought rainbow colours to our world.
0:11:18 > 0:11:22"We are very grateful for the smiles you have given us."
0:11:22 > 0:11:26"The Little Brown Tub helped too," I said.
0:11:26 > 0:11:30The queen looked at our boat in surprise.
0:11:30 > 0:11:35"It's not much of a brown tub now, is it?
0:11:35 > 0:11:36"I shall rename it
0:11:36 > 0:11:42"so you will always remember the happiness you brought to my world."
0:11:42 > 0:11:44And do you know what she named it?
0:11:44 > 0:11:49Yes, yes, that's right - the Rainbow.
0:11:49 > 0:11:54So, with happy hearts we waved goodbye to the queen
0:11:54 > 0:11:57and the smiling painter fish.
0:11:57 > 0:12:01"I loved that adventure," said Charlie.
0:12:01 > 0:12:03"And we did, too," I replied
0:12:03 > 0:12:09as we set sail in the Rainbow for Staithes and home.
0:12:09 > 0:12:12Yeah, it was exciting, wasn't it, eh?
0:12:12 > 0:12:15She had a really good time.
0:12:17 > 0:12:18SHIPS WHISTLE TOOTS
0:12:21 > 0:12:25Did you like that story, Salty? All true, of course.
0:12:25 > 0:12:28Mind you, my stories always are.
0:12:31 > 0:12:32Come on.
0:12:36 > 0:12:40Oh, dear! Sam's looking a bit down in the mouth.
0:12:40 > 0:12:43Operation Sign Rescue abandoned.
0:12:43 > 0:12:44They're ruined.
0:12:44 > 0:12:45We're out of paint.
0:12:45 > 0:12:49And Ernie'll be back in a minute. I need a rainbow!
0:12:49 > 0:12:54Oh, dear. Perhaps a little bit of family magic would help.
0:12:54 > 0:12:57I don't know what you're talking about, Jack.
0:12:57 > 0:13:01Come on, you know - that thing that Shelley does. I won't look. Go on.
0:13:01 > 0:13:03Yep.
0:13:03 > 0:13:04ERNIE WHISTLES A TUNE
0:13:04 > 0:13:06Oh, Ernie! He's here!
0:13:06 > 0:13:08Ohhh!
0:13:09 > 0:13:11MAGIC CHIMES
0:13:12 > 0:13:16You know, I think today might be your lucky day, Sam.
0:13:16 > 0:13:18What?
0:13:19 > 0:13:21A rainbow!
0:13:21 > 0:13:26Oh, my, it's beautiful!
0:13:26 > 0:13:29- What a stroke of luck.- Yeah!
0:13:29 > 0:13:31Wow!
0:13:33 > 0:13:36I love it!
0:13:36 > 0:13:42Hey, who needs paintings of rainbows when they can have the real thing?
0:13:42 > 0:13:44Fantastic!
0:13:44 > 0:13:46Roll up!
0:13:46 > 0:13:52Roll up, everybody, and welcome to the Rainbow Fish Stall!
