0:01:51 > 0:01:54Coconuts. Lots of them.
0:01:54 > 0:01:57They were left over from the coconut shy at the village fair.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09She wants me to throw it for her.
0:02:09 > 0:02:12No, no, listen, Emily, no. You could strain something.
0:02:12 > 0:02:14- Stop it.- Strain myself?- Yes.
0:02:14 > 0:02:20I'll have you know I once won first prize for shot put. Stand back.
0:02:20 > 0:02:25- Good heavens. - Right. Here goes, Salty.
0:02:25 > 0:02:27Look at... Oh!
0:02:28 > 0:02:30Eh? What's this?
0:02:30 > 0:02:34Hello, Salty. Fancy seeing you.
0:02:34 > 0:02:38Wherever there's a ball there's a Salty Dog close behind.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41What's up? You want a sip?
0:02:42 > 0:02:44Oh, you want a stroke.
0:02:44 > 0:02:48Oh, the ball. You want me to throw the ball.
0:02:48 > 0:02:50Well, you should have said.
0:02:50 > 0:02:53WHEE!
0:02:56 > 0:02:59BOING BOING
0:02:59 > 0:03:01Watch out!
0:03:01 > 0:03:02CRASH!
0:03:02 > 0:03:08- Ow!- Dearie me! The coconuts are all over the place.- I'm sorry.
0:03:08 > 0:03:10Looks like we've broken a few as well.
0:03:10 > 0:03:12Don't you worry, Jack.
0:03:12 > 0:03:16You go and get over to the Rainbow and I'll sort things out here.
0:03:16 > 0:03:18Yeah. Sorry. Yes. Come on, Salty.
0:03:18 > 0:03:21Onward to the Rainbow. Sorry, Em.
0:03:31 > 0:03:34There she is, the Rainbow.
0:03:34 > 0:03:37What have you got far us today, me dear?
0:03:37 > 0:03:39HOOT!
0:03:39 > 0:03:42Hey! Come on, Salty.
0:03:42 > 0:03:44JACK HUMS
0:03:44 > 0:03:45Here we are.
0:03:51 > 0:03:53HOOT!
0:03:55 > 0:03:57That's better.
0:03:57 > 0:03:59You settle yourself down, girl,
0:03:59 > 0:04:02and we'll try and stay away from coconuts for a bit.
0:04:02 > 0:04:09Salty, do you remember that huge coconut shell we saw once?
0:04:09 > 0:04:12Floating towards us it was.
0:04:12 > 0:04:17Let me get comfortable and I'll tell you the story.
0:04:17 > 0:04:19Oh, yes, Salty,
0:04:19 > 0:04:23this will make your whiskers go curly, this one will.
0:04:23 > 0:04:27Once upon a twinkly time we set off from Staithes,
0:04:27 > 0:04:29waved goodbye to Whitby
0:04:29 > 0:04:31and disappeared over the horizon.
0:04:31 > 0:04:35And as we sailed, we sang.
0:04:35 > 0:04:40# Just Salty Dog and me Sailing on the sea
0:04:40 > 0:04:42# Pretending we're sailing away on a cruise
0:04:42 > 0:04:45# When we really need an excuse for a snooze
0:04:45 > 0:04:49# Closing our eyes in the hot sunny skies
0:04:49 > 0:04:52# Just Salty Dog and me. #
0:04:52 > 0:04:56Yes. Salty and I were trying to snatch 40 winks.
0:04:56 > 0:04:59That means having a quick nap.
0:04:59 > 0:05:04Well, I'd only managed to snatch about 20 winks, when all at once
0:05:04 > 0:05:10we heard from faraway a little squeaky voice singing a sorry ditty.
0:05:11 > 0:05:14- SQUEAKY VOICE: - # Oh, poor little Monkey Me
0:05:14 > 0:05:17# I'm cast away at sea
0:05:17 > 0:05:20# I float, I float on a coconut boat
0:05:20 > 0:05:24# Oh, oh, oh, oh, poor little Monkey Me.#
0:05:24 > 0:05:30Well, I grabbed my trusty telescope and peered out to sea, and what
0:05:30 > 0:05:37did I see but a little monkey floating in a giant coconut shell.
0:05:37 > 0:05:43"Full speed ahead, Salty," I said, "Monkey in trouble."
0:05:43 > 0:05:47Well, when we got close and shouted, "Ahoy there, Monkey!
0:05:47 > 0:05:49"Are you able to climb aboard?"
0:05:49 > 0:05:51"Yes! Yes!
0:05:51 > 0:05:55"With the last bit of my monkey strength in my monkey arms,"
0:05:55 > 0:05:57said the monkey.
0:05:57 > 0:06:01And with rather a lot of, "Ooh! Ahhh! Urrrhh!"
0:06:01 > 0:06:06and "Eeek! Aaagh!" he climbed on board.
0:06:06 > 0:06:13"Oh, thank you! You saved poor little Monkey Me," cried the monkey.
0:06:13 > 0:06:17"I only went for a short sail, no longer than a monkey's tail,
0:06:17 > 0:06:21"but I got caught in a terrible gale, and before I knew it...
0:06:21 > 0:06:24"I was lost at sea."
0:06:24 > 0:06:29"Would you like us to sail you home?" I said.
0:06:29 > 0:06:34"Well, I suppose so," said the monkey a little reluctantly.
0:06:34 > 0:06:38"Home is over the moon and left at the Purple Lagoon.
0:06:38 > 0:06:42"No short cuts." Well, we'd better get going," I said.
0:06:42 > 0:06:46Now, old sailors like me know lots of clever tricks,
0:06:46 > 0:06:52and one of those tricks is this - if you spin your hat three times
0:06:52 > 0:06:55and set sail in a westerly direction,
0:06:55 > 0:07:00you can pick up a very fast gust of air called the Rocket Stream,
0:07:00 > 0:07:04and it whizzes you right up over the moon.
0:07:04 > 0:07:08So I took a hold of my hat and I spun it three times -
0:07:08 > 0:07:15one, two, three. And then we set sail in a westerly direction.
0:07:15 > 0:07:21But the monkey didn't look that excited to be going home!
0:07:21 > 0:07:26"Cheer up, little Monkey Me!" I said happily. "We'll be there soon."
0:07:26 > 0:07:31Then just up ahead we saw a cloud that was shaped like a rocket
0:07:31 > 0:07:33pointing upwards to the sky.
0:07:33 > 0:07:36"That's the Rocket Stream," I cried.
0:07:36 > 0:07:39So we steered The Rainbow towards it.
0:07:39 > 0:07:43"All right, Salty and Monkey, hold tight," said I.
0:07:44 > 0:07:46"Three, two, one, blast off!"
0:07:48 > 0:07:50And suddenly...whoosh!
0:07:52 > 0:07:57The Rainbow shot upwards out of the ocean and into the sky.
0:07:57 > 0:08:02Seagulls screeched in amazement as we zoomed past them
0:08:02 > 0:08:08higher and higher, until the sky turned from blue to midnight black.
0:08:08 > 0:08:12The moon was getting closer and closer.
0:08:12 > 0:08:16Salty thought it looked like a giant yellow rubber ball
0:08:16 > 0:08:19with little chunks missing here and there.
0:08:19 > 0:08:22"Weh-hey!" I shouted. "Isn't this fun?"
0:08:22 > 0:08:29Well, over the moon we went and down the other side, back down
0:08:29 > 0:08:34through darkness and stars, through sunny blue sky and wispy clouds.
0:08:34 > 0:08:39"Look!" I said, "there's the Purple Lagoon!"
0:08:39 > 0:08:44"Turn left for my island," said the monkey with a sigh.
0:08:44 > 0:08:49So I steered left of the Rocket Stream and suddenly we saw it -
0:08:49 > 0:08:55a tiny little island with a single palm tree.
0:08:55 > 0:08:59We landed in the water - splash! Right next to it.
0:08:59 > 0:09:06"That's my island," said Monkey sadly. "Then you're home!" I smiled.
0:09:06 > 0:09:13But the monkey just looked glum. "Is there something wrong?" I asked.
0:09:13 > 0:09:17"It's a bit of a lonely island", said the monkey.
0:09:17 > 0:09:22"Nobody lives here but poor little Monkey Me."
0:09:22 > 0:09:26Then suddenly Monkey had an idea.
0:09:26 > 0:09:30"Can I come and live with you and Salty instead?"
0:09:30 > 0:09:34Salty gave the monkey a nuzzle.
0:09:34 > 0:09:38"Well, yes, if you really want to", I said.
0:09:38 > 0:09:42"What sort of tree do you live in?" he asked.
0:09:42 > 0:09:46Well, Salty and I explained that back in Staithes,
0:09:46 > 0:09:49we lived in a house, not a tree.
0:09:49 > 0:09:54Monkey seems disappointed but decided to come home with us anyway.
0:09:54 > 0:09:59So off we chugged back to Staithes.
0:09:59 > 0:10:04Monkey had lots of fun beating on the funnel like a drum.
0:10:04 > 0:10:07Salty and I were very pleased that he was happy,
0:10:07 > 0:10:10but we did wish that we had some earplugs.
0:10:10 > 0:10:14Boom-boom, chicca-boom-boom, went the monkey.
0:10:14 > 0:10:17Boom-boom chicca-boom chic-chic-chicca-boom.
0:10:17 > 0:10:22And then suddenly, out of nowhere, we heard a faint reply.
0:10:22 > 0:10:24A-boom-boom chicca-boom-boom.
0:10:24 > 0:10:26Boom-boom chicca-boom-boom!
0:10:26 > 0:10:30It was coming from a tiny little island far away.
0:10:30 > 0:10:32I looked through my telescope and...
0:10:32 > 0:10:34Somersaulting seagulls!
0:10:34 > 0:10:39What did I see but another monkey playing a coconut drum
0:10:39 > 0:10:42while lots of other monkeys danced.
0:10:42 > 0:10:47"It's a monkey party!" I cried. "Ooh! Eeeh! Oh!" Said the monkey.
0:10:47 > 0:10:52"Full speed ahead! That's the island for me!" So...
0:10:52 > 0:10:58we headed for the island and all the way Monkey kept drumming -
0:10:58 > 0:11:02boom-boom chicca-boom-boom boom-boom chicca-boom boom-boom.
0:11:02 > 0:11:05When we arrived, all the monkeys all waved.
0:11:05 > 0:11:09"Come and join our party!" Cried one.
0:11:09 > 0:11:12And he handed our monkey a coconut drum.
0:11:12 > 0:11:16Now, Salty and I, we always like a party
0:11:16 > 0:11:20and of course Salty showed off her very best dance moves.
0:11:20 > 0:11:22HE CHUCKLES
0:11:22 > 0:11:27Then, when it was late, we headed back to The Rainbow.
0:11:27 > 0:11:29"Come on, little Monkey Me," I said.
0:11:29 > 0:11:33"We need to get you back to Staithes."
0:11:33 > 0:11:36Well, the monkey gave a wide-eyed monkey look
0:11:36 > 0:11:39and shook his little head.
0:11:39 > 0:11:42"You've been very kind, and I hope you don't mind,
0:11:42 > 0:11:48"but I think I'll stay here with my new monkey friends," said Monkey.
0:11:48 > 0:11:54"There's an empty tree just for happy little Monkey Me."
0:11:54 > 0:11:57Well, I was a little sad to leave the little fella there,
0:11:57 > 0:12:03but Salty pointed out that his funnel-banging was a bit noisy
0:12:03 > 0:12:08and there wasn't much room in our house for a busy monkey.
0:12:08 > 0:12:14So, with a sad tingle in our hearts, we waved goodbye to little Monkey.
0:12:14 > 0:12:22"Promise you'll visit," he said. "Oh, we will, very soon," I replied.
0:12:22 > 0:12:27"Very soon." And then we set our course for the horizon
0:12:27 > 0:12:31and headed back to Staithes and home.
0:12:31 > 0:12:34It was quite an adventure that, wasn't it, Salty?
0:12:41 > 0:12:45Did you like that story, Salty? All true, of course.
0:12:45 > 0:12:49- Mind you, my stories always are. - HE CHUCKLES
0:12:49 > 0:12:51Come on, girl.
0:13:01 > 0:13:05Come on, Salty. We'll go and see if Emily's managed to do anything
0:13:05 > 0:13:08with those broken coconuts.
0:13:08 > 0:13:12- HE CHUCKLES - It was a mess, wasn't it? Coconuts all over the place.
0:13:18 > 0:13:22- Eh-oop, Jack!- Hello, Sam. Having a rest? Have you been busy?- Oh, yes.
0:13:22 > 0:13:28- What about those broken coconuts? - Look! Coconut ice cream sundaes.
0:13:28 > 0:13:33- Oh, I like the look of them.- Course you do! That's why we saved you one.
0:13:33 > 0:13:37- I'm going to sit down and enjoy this.- There you go.
0:13:37 > 0:13:42- Thank you.- It's a coconut boat. - It's delicious, Jack.
0:13:42 > 0:13:45- Refreshing, too.- Marvellous.
0:13:45 > 0:13:48Listen, here's to us and our brilliant ideas!
0:13:48 > 0:13:51EMILY AND SAM: Here's to us!
