0:14:03 > 0:14:05I have never seen a Bearded Dragon before.
0:14:05 > 0:14:07I actually got it slightly confused
0:14:07 > 0:14:09with a Komodo dragon at first,
0:14:09 > 0:14:14and accidentally assumed it would be really huge.
0:14:14 > 0:14:17Micah, you're getting rabbits.

0:14:52 > 0:14:54'It's break time, and a chance for our Pet Heads

0:15:37 > 0:15:39Some of the cats like our parents more.
0:15:39 > 0:15:43I do play with the cats and comb them, but I can't clean the poo,
0:15:43 > 0:15:47because the sight of it and the smell makes me sick!
0:15:48 > 0:15:50That's definitely my job.
0:15:50 > 0:15:52I'm definitely the one cleaning after any pet that anyone
0:15:52 > 0:15:54gets inside this house.
0:15:56 > 0:16:00I know loads about cats, but I don't know too much about other animals.
0:16:00 > 0:16:04Hopefully, when I'm at Pet School, I can learn a lot more.
0:16:04 > 0:16:06I would really like to get another pet, like a dog,
0:16:06 > 0:16:09but it would have to get along with my three cats.

0:16:43 > 0:16:45'so Reena's on hand to help.'
0:16:45 > 0:16:49Now, this Bearded Dragon is a boy, but he doesn't have a name yet,

0:16:57 > 0:16:59OK. What do you reckon?

0:17:04 > 0:17:08'Marilyn, Rita and Shauna, this is Giulia, your pet buddy.'
0:17:10 > 0:17:12I can't take it out!
0:17:12 > 0:17:15It's just the red rat that kind of creeps me out, and the white one.

0:17:20 > 0:17:23Giulia's not too keen on her new buddies, unlike Sam.
0:17:26 > 0:17:28I've always wanted a snake, and now I've got one in my hands,
0:17:28 > 0:17:30and it feels awesome.

0:17:37 > 0:17:41"Our hamster is a girl called Kit Kat, and she is six months old."
0:17:41 > 0:17:44Before being enrolled at Pet School, poor old Kit Kat was an unwanted pet
0:17:44 > 0:17:48and was taken care of by an animal rescue centre.
0:17:48 > 0:17:51Kit Kat came to us because her owner was pregnant,
0:17:51 > 0:17:54and Kit Kat had actually been trying to break out of her cage.
0:17:54 > 0:17:57The owner was finding it really quite difficult to maintain
0:17:57 > 0:18:00a hamster that wanted to be escaping all the time, and obviously
0:18:00 > 0:18:02with the responsibility of now being pregnant,
0:18:02 > 0:18:06so she contacted us for her to come in and hopefully find a new owner.
0:18:07 > 0:18:09Kit Kat is a really lovely hamster.
0:18:09 > 0:18:12She's really sociable, she is often out and about
0:18:12 > 0:18:14exploring her cage, so we've been able to handle her a lot.
0:18:14 > 0:18:18She is nocturnal, so they don't tend to actually wake up normally
0:18:18 > 0:18:20until about six o'clock in the evening,
0:18:20 > 0:18:23so really, they'll need to make sure that, actually, she's awake
0:18:23 > 0:18:27on her terms, and wants to come out and play when she's ready.
0:18:27 > 0:18:28I think you'll really enjoy it at Pet School,
0:18:28 > 0:18:31and hopefully the children will benefit from her.
0:18:32 > 0:18:33Hello, Kit Kat.
0:18:36 > 0:18:37Please.
0:18:38 > 0:18:40Come here.
0:18:41 > 0:18:44'Ysabel's bonding's off to a shaky start, she seems a bit wary.'

0:18:49 > 0:18:52One, I don't want to drop her.
0:18:52 > 0:18:55Two, I don't want her to bite me,
0:18:55 > 0:18:59and three, I don't want her to bite me!

0:19:08 > 0:19:11'Ysabel likes watching movies,
0:19:11 > 0:19:14'playing the flute,
0:19:14 > 0:19:17'and zooming around on wheels!
0:19:17 > 0:19:18I already have two pets.
0:19:18 > 0:19:20One of them's a dog called Brandy,
0:19:20 > 0:19:22and the other one's a hamster called Rocky.
0:19:22 > 0:19:24'Two pets? Lucky you.
0:19:24 > 0:19:26'But you're afraid of hamsters?'
0:19:26 > 0:19:28I want to go to Pet School
0:19:28 > 0:19:31because when I used to have my other hamster, I went into the cage
0:19:31 > 0:19:35to try and hold it, and then it bit my finger, and it made it bleed.
0:19:35 > 0:19:39Since then, I've been quite scared going up to pets that I don't know.
0:19:39 > 0:19:42It wasn't anything major, it just bit her on the finger,
0:19:42 > 0:19:45but she dropped the hamster, and ever since then, she's been
0:19:45 > 0:19:50really uncomfortable and a bit nervous, which makes me nervous,
0:19:50 > 0:19:53because I'm always frightened that she's going to drop her.
0:19:53 > 0:19:56If I could have another pet, I would have a guinea pig.
0:19:56 > 0:19:59If she gives me the confidence and shows me that she can look after
0:19:59 > 0:20:04the pets she has, then possibly she can have another pet in the future.
0:20:04 > 0:20:07When I'm at Pet School, I think I'm most looking forward to getting
0:20:07 > 0:20:10my confidence up, and then coming back home and being able not to be
0:20:10 > 0:20:14scared of going up to animals or holding my actual hamster.
0:20:16 > 0:20:20'Right, come on, Ysabel. You can do this, mate.'
0:20:20 > 0:20:21Stop moving!
0:20:29 > 0:20:31You need to have some patience with the hamsters.
0:20:35 > 0:20:38Please come out. She doesn't like me.
0:20:38 > 0:20:41'You two have only just met. Come on, give it some time.
0:20:44 > 0:20:46'Looks like Tej and Kiki will bond quickly.
0:20:46 > 0:20:50'Tej is desperate for a dog, but has zero experience with them.'
0:20:51 > 0:20:53I'm so happy that I've got a dog.
0:20:53 > 0:20:56I absolutely love Kiki more than any animal
0:20:56 > 0:20:58I've pretty much seen in my life.
0:20:58 > 0:21:00'Ysabel, however is not so happy.
0:21:00 > 0:21:03'How will she manage to feed and care for Kit Kat
0:21:03 > 0:21:05'if she's nervous of being round her?'
0:21:05 > 0:21:08Oh, I nearly got you there.
0:21:08 > 0:21:10I don't think I'll last a week.
0:21:14 > 0:21:17'Our Pet Heads have been working their socks off all morning
0:21:17 > 0:21:20'but afternoons are always something to look forward to at Pet School,
0:21:20 > 0:21:22'especially when famous people drop in.'
0:21:25 > 0:21:26Now, I've got not just one,
0:21:26 > 0:21:29but two celebrities coming to say hello today.
0:21:29 > 0:21:32Who watches Britain's Got Talent?

0:22:06 > 0:22:10I can't believe it. I'm touching Pudsey. Can you believe this? Wow!
0:22:10 > 0:22:12Who would like to see some tricks?
0:22:12 > 0:22:13Can you show a trick?
0:22:13 > 0:22:15Yes, we can.
0:22:16 > 0:22:17I can't see, I can't see!
0:22:17 > 0:22:18Now, take note, take note.

0:23:06 > 0:23:09This is my first time actually being around a rat.
0:23:09 > 0:23:12'..and Tej's dreams come true as he gets top tips
0:23:12 > 0:23:15'from the nation's premiere canine carer.'

0:23:31 > 0:23:33I can't do it. I can't get it out.
0:23:33 > 0:23:36'Whoa, wait a minute. Is that her holding a rat?
0:23:36 > 0:23:38'Now that's what I call being a real Pet Buddy.'
0:23:39 > 0:23:42At first, I thought rats were horrible.
0:23:42 > 0:23:45I thought they were dirty, disgusting creatures
0:23:45 > 0:23:46with a really long tail.
0:23:49 > 0:23:51But when I got to hold Marlene...
0:23:51 > 0:23:52'Er, Marilyn.'
0:23:52 > 0:23:54- Marlin.- 'Marilyn.'
0:23:54 > 0:24:00One of that. She was so nice. She's so friendly!

0:24:12 > 0:24:15'Bearded dragons have become popular pets in the UK,
0:24:15 > 0:24:19'but sadly, our Bearded Dragon has had a really tough life.'
0:24:19 > 0:24:21This Bearded Dragon was dumped in a box
0:24:21 > 0:24:24with four others outside a vet's.
0:24:24 > 0:24:28They were in a terrible state when they came in, very dehydrated.
0:24:28 > 0:24:31We gave them a bath as soon as they came in.
0:24:31 > 0:24:33They are desert animals,
0:24:33 > 0:24:35and they were gulping water out of the bowl,
0:24:35 > 0:24:37which I've never seen before,
0:24:37 > 0:24:40so they clearly hadn't had any water for a few weeks.
0:24:41 > 0:24:44As you can see by this guy, he's very, very calm
0:24:44 > 0:24:47and generally very placid, so they are good to handle.
0:24:49 > 0:24:53'Poor little fella, he didn't even have a name, until now!'
0:24:53 > 0:24:54I think I've got a name.
0:24:56 > 0:24:58Brett, because he seems very... I don't know.

0:25:03 > 0:25:06'Well, so far, the bonding with Brett the Beardy is going great.
0:25:06 > 0:25:07'Keep it up, Rach.'
0:25:08 > 0:25:12If someone had told me before I came to Pet School to bond with
0:25:12 > 0:25:16a Bearded Dragon, I probably would have just laughed at them.
0:25:16 > 0:25:19It would have sounded really silly.
0:25:19 > 0:25:23But actually, even though I've only known Brett for a little while,
0:25:23 > 0:25:26I can kind of see how you could bond with him.
0:25:26 > 0:25:28Because he's very tame, he's very sweet.
0:25:29 > 0:25:32Well, I think Brett likes you, Rachel. Pet buddy success.
0:25:36 > 0:25:37Ysabel's frightened of Kit Kat
0:25:37 > 0:25:40because she was nipped by her own hamster at home.
0:25:44 > 0:25:47Please come. I really want to hold you
0:25:47 > 0:25:49and this is the first time I've actually wanted to hold a hamster.
0:25:49 > 0:25:52Now, please... Thank you.
0:25:55 > 0:25:57You're quite sweet, actually.
0:26:02 > 0:26:04'Ysabel conquering her fear of hamsters
0:26:04 > 0:26:07'is what Pet School is all about.'
0:26:09 > 0:26:11Oh, please get off. Thank you.
0:26:12 > 0:26:14I feel relieved about not holding her.
0:26:18 > 0:26:21'Could this be the beginning of a beautiful friendship?
0:26:21 > 0:26:22'Well done, Ysabel!'
0:26:24 > 0:26:27While I was holding her, all I was thinking was just
0:26:27 > 0:26:29"Please don't bite me, and please don't fall."
0:26:30 > 0:26:33Now I think I actually could last a week.
0:26:35 > 0:26:37Night-night, Kit Kat. See you tomorrow.
0:26:40 > 0:26:44'So, it's success for Ysabel on day one, and for Giulia.
0:26:44 > 0:26:48'Brett's got a new best friend and Tej has met the pet of his dreams.
0:26:48 > 0:26:50'But will Liam ever overcome his poo problems
0:26:50 > 0:26:52'to get the dog he's always wanted?'
0:26:53 > 0:26:55That is the end of day one at Pet School.
0:26:55 > 0:26:58The children have settled in very well,
0:26:58 > 0:27:01but there's still loads and loads of tasks ahead of them.
0:27:01 > 0:27:04They've got to keep up the pace, cos they've got to convince
0:27:04 > 0:27:08their families they've got what it takes to be real pet people.
0:27:09 > 0:27:14There's less than two weeks left to go until that final decision.
0:27:14 > 0:27:15Sleepless nights!
0:27:17 > 0:27:20'Next time on Pet School, an extreme pet drops in.'
0:27:21 > 0:27:23Oh, my gosh!
0:27:23 > 0:27:25'Ashley and Pudsey get to meet all the Pet School residents.'
0:27:25 > 0:27:27She's not going to poo on me, is she?
0:27:27 > 0:27:29'And is trouble brewing with the team?'
0:27:29 > 0:27:30What is there to do?
