0:02:26 > 0:02:29Ah, such a tiny, tiny little chick.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33You're not going to see anything like that much in your life.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35It's so amazing.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38Wow. It's a beautiful moment.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51That really was something special,

0:02:51 > 0:02:54but these guys are joining the other Pet Heads

0:03:06 > 0:03:08We got Sophie, Rachel and Liam,

0:03:08 > 0:03:10you're going to be doing the chicken run.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13It's been magical seeing chicks born -

0:03:19 > 0:03:24We got Tej, Guilia and Micah - you're going to the stables today.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26HORSE NEIGHS

0:03:26 > 0:03:30- How you feeling about that? - I'm OK with that.- Yeah, horses.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33- You know their poos are about this big?- Yeah, yeah, yeah.- OK.

0:03:33 > 0:03:39Ysabel, Sam and Chris, you're with the dogs, and me!

0:03:39 > 0:03:42- Yes! The boys. - Ready to rock and roll?

0:03:42 > 0:03:45If I guide, you can follow. Let's go.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50Over the two week term, Pet Practice will show

0:03:50 > 0:03:53who's got what it takes to be a top pet person.

0:03:53 > 0:03:57And because there's loads to do at pet school, each team

0:03:57 > 0:03:59have only got 45 minutes to get them done.

0:03:59 > 0:04:03- So, what we doing today?- We got a result. We've got the dogs.

0:04:03 > 0:04:08- And you!- And me.- Yeah. - That's what I was talking about.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11Check this out for a doghouse.

0:04:11 > 0:04:15Waiting for the dog squad are the pet school pooches, Kiki and Molly.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18They're waiting for you. Hello, Kiki.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Old Molly over there, she's excited.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23Time's-a-ticking away in the dog room

0:04:23 > 0:04:26and today's doggy to do list includes brushing their teeth

0:04:26 > 0:04:29and checking their poo. This is the poo chart.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32I don't know if I want gravy any more!

0:04:32 > 0:04:35This is the sort of issues you're going to come across

0:04:35 > 0:04:39when you have your own pet, if it's eating right, if it's well,

0:04:39 > 0:04:41if you need to take it to the vet.

0:04:41 > 0:04:46And this is one of the things that will indicate that. You know?

0:04:48 > 0:04:52Sophie, Rachel and Liam head back towards the chicken coop.

0:04:52 > 0:04:56They'll be in charge of collecting the eggs, feeding them and,

0:04:56 > 0:04:59you've guessed it, cleaning up the poo.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02Unlike the eggs that hatched this morning,

0:05:02 > 0:05:05these could be used for lunch. My lunch hopefully!

0:05:05 > 0:05:09- Take one of them out.- Oh, my gosh! - Just take one out.- It's looking.

0:05:09 > 0:05:14- Sophie, you take another one.- That's it.- There aren't any other eggs.

0:05:14 > 0:05:17As well as a cockerel, Pet School has four hens,

0:05:17 > 0:05:20who have all been saved by a rescue centre.

0:05:20 > 0:05:24Most of our hens are from an old free range farm.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27When they reach the end of their productive life at 18 months,

0:05:27 > 0:05:31still young for a hen, they're normally sent for slaughter,

0:05:31 > 0:05:33so we rescue these ones, offer them a home

0:05:33 > 0:05:38with someone who can give them a longer life and some happy times.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40The worst thing about keeping chickens

0:05:40 > 0:05:43is their poo is smelly, and they do a lot of it,

0:05:43 > 0:05:47so you have to clear that up all the time.

0:05:48 > 0:05:54- Before poo-picking duty, it's food and water time.- Yeah, that's right.

0:05:54 > 0:05:59- Are you sure?- I'm certain, because it's meant to balance, not click.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02- Are you sure?- No. Right, someone else do water,

0:06:02 > 0:06:04and I'll start mucking out.

0:06:04 > 0:06:08Rachel did take the lead a bit, but she was just trying to help.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11And we also need to clear some of the stuff in here up.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14I kind of did have to take the lead a bit.

0:06:14 > 0:06:18It's a lot of work in, to be honest, not very much time.

0:06:24 > 0:06:28Micah is at the pet school stables with Guilia and Tej.

0:06:28 > 0:06:31They've got 45 minutes only to give the stables

0:06:31 > 0:06:33a good mucking out with no mucking around.

0:06:33 > 0:06:37In my mind, I was thinking, if there's a Pet Practice,

0:06:37 > 0:06:40and it's a task, we're going to be picking up poo.

0:06:40 > 0:06:45Put all the clean straw up the back, and then all the poo, like this,

0:06:45 > 0:06:47you're going to lift up, and put in the wheelbarrow.

0:06:47 > 0:06:50- OK? I'm going to leave you to it. - Bye.- OK, bye.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53Wow, I just found a big piece of poo, here.

0:06:53 > 0:06:57It's quite disgusting, I think. It stank quite a lot.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00Right, let me just stick a bit of poo.

0:07:00 > 0:07:02Oh, my gosh, that's a lot!

0:07:02 > 0:07:08Back with the chickens, once again Liam is doing the best job he can,

0:07:08 > 0:07:12to avoid poo that is. Same as yesterday.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14I really can't look at that poo.

0:07:16 > 0:07:21We need to get the hens as well inside. The sooner the better.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24Liam didn't want to go near the poo,

0:07:24 > 0:07:28so he tried to get the chickens in while me and Rachel cleaned up.

0:07:28 > 0:07:31- I need two people. - We're not done yet.

0:07:31 > 0:07:34I know, but it'll be easier to get a chicken in.

0:07:34 > 0:07:38One person in my group who managed to do the things

0:07:38 > 0:07:41that didn't involve getting mucky or anything.

0:07:41 > 0:07:45I got along with Sophie. I thought Rachel was a bit bossy.

0:07:45 > 0:07:49Can you not to scatter too much hay when you're doing that?

0:07:49 > 0:07:50What else is there to do?

0:07:50 > 0:07:54- Come round the back, look at this! - Teamwork.

0:07:54 > 0:07:57Over in the house of woof, it's time to give

0:07:57 > 0:08:00Molly and Kiki's gnashers a good scrub, and Reena,

0:08:00 > 0:08:03Pet School's resident Pets-pert is here to help.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05This is special dog toothpaste,

0:08:05 > 0:08:09so don't use your own, or your own toothbrush. Urgh!

0:08:09 > 0:08:11You only need to do the outsides,

0:08:11 > 0:08:14because inside will be kept reasonably clean

0:08:14 > 0:08:17by the action of the tongue. OK, off you go. Good luck.

0:08:17 > 0:08:20There's toothpaste. Molly! Kiki!

0:08:20 > 0:08:22SHE WHISTLES

0:08:22 > 0:08:24Good girl, good girl.

0:08:24 > 0:08:26No, no, no, Kiki, Kiki.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31Remember, you'll really need to get the dogs' trust

0:08:31 > 0:08:34if you're going to go near their mouths.

0:08:34 > 0:08:38That's not brushing the teeth, Kiki's just eating toothpaste.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40- Unbelievable!- Say, "Ah!"

0:08:42 > 0:08:46I'm hoping she'll go, "Ah!" I've got it, I've got the tops.

0:08:48 > 0:08:53- Yay.- We've still got to do Molly. - Try and open up her top lip.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56Molly's not got a great gnasher clean either.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59- Not top teeth work team. - I don't think we'll get Molly.

0:08:59 > 0:09:0315 minutes to go, and there's no horsing around at the stables.

0:09:03 > 0:09:08- No offence, fellas.- That's a lot. There's some more over there still.

0:09:08 > 0:09:10It's not as bad as I expected.

0:09:10 > 0:09:14- It smells disgusting!- That's true, it's not as bad as I thought.

0:09:14 > 0:09:16Why did you put the other one down?

0:09:16 > 0:09:19It was more fun that I expected it to be.

0:09:19 > 0:09:23We got on with it. We picked up most of the poo that was in there.

0:09:23 > 0:09:27Got to check under this piece of hay. I think we did well.

0:09:28 > 0:09:32Ahh. All completed within 45 minutes. Nice work, team.

0:09:32 > 0:09:36Mucking out is an essential part of good horse care.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39Back with the pooches, there's just ten minutes to go,

0:09:39 > 0:09:42enough time to do the final part of the task.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45Find a nice fresh poo, courtesy of Molly or Kiki,

0:09:45 > 0:09:48and compare it to the poo chart. Simple.

0:09:48 > 0:09:50This stinker's been left just for them,

0:09:50 > 0:09:53but normally leaving dog mess is huge no-no.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55What do you think?

0:09:55 > 0:09:57I think it's OK.

0:09:57 > 0:10:00- Em, grade two and three.- You can see a bit of like juice there,

0:10:00 > 0:10:02- so it looks like it's just come out. - Yeah.

0:10:02 > 0:10:06It's like they did grade two around the edge

0:10:06 > 0:10:09and then they did grade three slap bang in the middle.

0:10:09 > 0:10:12That was actually the first time I ever really had to examine dog poo

0:10:12 > 0:10:14and, yeah, it wasn't good.

0:10:14 > 0:10:17The good news is we think that looks more healthy.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20Yeah, well, we'd better get rid of it then. Come on and pick it up.

0:10:20 > 0:10:23Urgh!

0:10:23 > 0:10:25- What did they eat? - I'm going to be sick.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28We all nearly threw up because of the smell.

0:10:28 > 0:10:29Out of the three of us,

0:10:29 > 0:10:33Ysabel looked most like she was going to be sick.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36It wasn't a nice job.

0:10:36 > 0:10:39It, like - urgh! It smelt really bad.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44Job done. Let's go wash our hands.

0:10:44 > 0:10:49Task almost complete, but they need to brush up on their teeth cleaning.

0:10:49 > 0:10:53With only five minutes left, because of all the bickering,

0:10:53 > 0:10:56they still haven't got the chickens back in the coop.

0:10:56 > 0:10:59I'm a little bit concerned we haven't got one chicken yet.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02That's what I'm trying to do.

0:11:02 > 0:11:04The best person to talk to would be the person who put himself

0:11:04 > 0:11:05in charge of the chickens.

0:11:05 > 0:11:08I might help him out, shall I? Is that all right?

0:11:12 > 0:11:14Sophie nearly had one,

0:11:14 > 0:11:17but it turned around and she thought it was going to bite her.

0:11:17 > 0:11:20- That's it - go, go! - What's going on?

0:11:20 > 0:11:25- Oh, one's in.- Yes, another one. That's two. Shut the door. Quickly!

0:11:25 > 0:11:28- That's it, he's got one! - I've got another one.

0:11:28 > 0:11:30OK, he's got another one. That's it.

0:11:30 > 0:11:34Oh! Big Rach is going in!

0:11:34 > 0:11:36- Cornered!- Get in there, Rach.

0:11:36 > 0:11:39- You've got it. Get it in, get it in! - Can I hold it? Can I hold it?

0:11:39 > 0:11:42Ah, teamwork.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45Task completed - just.

0:11:47 > 0:11:50A tough morning for our Pet Heads. But some of the team are doing well,

0:11:50 > 0:11:53and could be on track to get a pet of their own.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56That's Pet Practice done for the morning.

0:11:56 > 0:11:59The gang now go off and meet their buddies,

0:11:59 > 0:12:01and get on with the rest of the daily routines here at Pet School.

0:12:01 > 0:12:05Coming up, Pudsey meets more fans of the furry kind.

0:12:05 > 0:12:09Giulia tries to convince Ashleigh that rats have also got talent.

0:12:09 > 0:12:12Aw! They're actually quite nice.

0:12:12 > 0:12:15And Chris gets a grip on the goats - just about.

0:12:15 > 0:12:19- Oh, look, they're running. - Don't worry. They're very calm.

0:12:19 > 0:12:23Pet buddying is about forming a closer bond with the pets

0:12:23 > 0:12:26on a one-to-one basis. And out of all the pet buddies,

0:12:26 > 0:12:29Tej and Kiki are really hitting it off.

0:12:29 > 0:12:31Sit! Kiki, sit!

0:12:31 > 0:12:34Tej, it's a dog.

0:12:34 > 0:12:37I'm so happy that I got a dog. I absolutely love Kiki.

0:12:37 > 0:12:41Kiki, no! Sit here! Sit! Sit! Sit!

0:12:41 > 0:12:43I can hold her like this.

0:12:43 > 0:12:45Does he always take control?

0:12:45 > 0:12:49Let's find out - here he is with his Mum, Dad and brother Aman.

0:12:49 > 0:12:51Tej likes playing cricket,

0:12:51 > 0:12:54travelling the world,

0:12:54 > 0:12:57and performing magic tricks. Wow, that's amazing!

0:12:57 > 0:12:59At the moment, Tej is petless.

0:12:59 > 0:13:03Mum and Dad said if I got into a good school with a scholarship,

0:13:03 > 0:13:05I could get a dog, because I was slacking off a little bit.

0:13:05 > 0:13:09- Aw. So what happened, mate? - Then they changed their mind.

0:13:09 > 0:13:12It's not an easy task, to look after a pet, whether it be a dog or cat.

0:13:12 > 0:13:14I don't think he fully appreciates

0:13:14 > 0:13:17the responsibility that goes with having a pet.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20My ideal pet would be a Maltese puppy.

0:13:20 > 0:13:23So to show my parents that, I did a Powerpoint presentation on it.

0:13:23 > 0:13:29The results were conclusive. A dog is the best pet for me.

0:13:29 > 0:13:32Well, with such thorough research, what's the problem?

0:13:32 > 0:13:34I think he'd be great with it at the outset,

0:13:34 > 0:13:38but over a period of time I think he'd lose interest.

0:13:40 > 0:13:43It'd be nice to see if, two weeks down the road,

0:13:43 > 0:13:48he's as enthusiastic about the pet or not.

0:13:48 > 0:13:52Well, Mum, it's fair to say Tej is certainly enthusiastic about Kiki.

0:13:52 > 0:13:53But can he get her to sit?

0:13:53 > 0:13:56Sit, Kiki! Kiki, sit! Sit down, sit down! Good girl.

0:13:56 > 0:14:00It seems Kiki's confused by Tej's inexperienced training approach.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02No, no, no!

0:14:02 > 0:14:05I wonder if Liam is having as much fun with Molly?

0:14:05 > 0:14:09She doesn't, like, run around crazy like Kiki,

0:14:09 > 0:14:12so Tej has more things to do.

0:14:12 > 0:14:14It's like Molly's always relaxed.

0:14:16 > 0:14:18DOG SNORES

0:14:18 > 0:14:20Oh, gosh, she's fallen asleep.

0:14:21 > 0:14:26- Kiki, sit, sit.- Well, give her some praise for sitting, mate.- Get it!

0:14:26 > 0:14:29I've also been teaching her tricks, so lie down.

0:14:29 > 0:14:31Kiki, lie down again, lie-down.

0:14:31 > 0:14:35OK, go down, Kiki, go down. Go down, go down. Completely down. Paw.

0:14:35 > 0:14:37Paw, paw, I want paw.

0:14:37 > 0:14:40And jump. Come on, Kiki, ooh.

0:14:40 > 0:14:42That's really confusing her, Tej.

0:14:42 > 0:14:45She's sitting. She's... I taught... There we go.

0:14:45 > 0:14:48I think I've just about taught her to sit on my lap.

0:14:48 > 0:14:49Or stand, maybe.

0:14:49 > 0:14:52At least Tej and Kiki are loving their time together.

0:14:52 > 0:14:54I wonder if Liam and Molly have got any tricks for us.

0:14:54 > 0:14:58Watch this. I can straighten her leg out.

0:14:58 > 0:15:01Uh, yeah, that's...that's really good. Any more?

0:15:02 > 0:15:05Nice.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08Sam's heading over to the exotic room for more quality time

0:15:08 > 0:15:10with one of his dream pets, the corn snake.

0:15:10 > 0:15:13Sam? You're getting a corn snake.

0:15:13 > 0:15:15- Yes!- All right? I knew you wanted that one.

0:15:15 > 0:15:17I've always wanted a snake and now I've got one in my hands

0:15:17 > 0:15:19and it feels awesome.

0:15:19 > 0:15:21What a result for him

0:15:21 > 0:15:24but what would happen if he took more of an unusual pet home?

0:15:25 > 0:15:31Here's Sam with Mum, Dad and little sister, Lara. Sam likes basketball,

0:15:31 > 0:15:34playing trombone,

0:15:34 > 0:15:36and spooky zombies.

0:15:36 > 0:15:38HE LAUGHS

0:15:38 > 0:15:39He does not like milk.

0:15:39 > 0:15:40I do not like milk.

0:15:40 > 0:15:42So what's the deal with the pets at the moment, Sam?

0:15:42 > 0:15:44We do have a rabbit called Elvis.

0:15:44 > 0:15:45Uh-huh.

0:15:45 > 0:15:47But she's more of my sister's than mine.

0:15:47 > 0:15:50Aw, so you want something cute and cuddly of your own, Sam?

0:15:50 > 0:15:52- I'd really like a scorpion or a snake.- Ah!

0:15:52 > 0:15:54But my mum's too scared to have one.

0:15:54 > 0:15:56There is no way Sam can have a scorpion

0:15:56 > 0:15:59because I'm absolutely petrified of creepy crawly animals.

0:15:59 > 0:16:02- What about a snake?- There's no snakes coming in this house.

0:16:02 > 0:16:03I'm absolutely petrified of snakes.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06I'd like to learn more about scorpions

0:16:06 > 0:16:10and reptiles at Pet School in case I was ever allowed one.

0:16:10 > 0:16:11Ur, did you not you your mum, Sam?

0:16:11 > 0:16:14There is absolutely no chance Sam would be allowed

0:16:14 > 0:16:15to have a scorpion as a pet.

0:16:15 > 0:16:17I suppose I could settle for a shark.

0:16:17 > 0:16:19THEY LAUGH

0:16:19 > 0:16:22I don't think our garden's big enough for a shark.

0:16:22 > 0:16:24So no scorpions, snakes or sharks.

0:16:24 > 0:16:26What options does he have?

0:16:27 > 0:16:30Any animal that we did get, what Sam wanted,

0:16:30 > 0:16:33- would have to get on with our other pet, Elvis.- Uh-huh.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36Anything that's cute and fluffy, no sharks, no scorpions.

0:16:36 > 0:16:39Not even in the shed in the back garden. Nope.

0:16:39 > 0:16:43So, no snakes at home and now I've got to give him some more bad news.

0:16:43 > 0:16:46- Hi, Aaron.- Hello, mate, how are you going, you all right?- All right.

0:16:46 > 0:16:50Nice to see you. Well, here we go, with your pet buddy.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53- Mm-hm.- What you've always wanted. - Mm-hm.- A snake.

0:16:53 > 0:16:54Well, listen up.

0:16:54 > 0:16:55I don't want to alarm you

0:16:55 > 0:16:59but we've had a bit of an activity go on in here.

0:16:59 > 0:17:03- What's happened, he's started to shed his skin.- OK.

0:17:03 > 0:17:05I'm really feeling for Sam.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08He's always wanted a snake and because it's shedding,

0:17:08 > 0:17:10handling the snake will cause it distress.

0:17:10 > 0:17:16The thing is, the snake, takes about five days.

0:17:16 > 0:17:20It takes about five days for that skin to be healed.

0:17:21 > 0:17:25I can't touch it. I can't pick it up. There's nothing really to do with it.

0:17:25 > 0:17:29Sam is gutted because he can't buddy with his pet buddy.

0:17:30 > 0:17:34Micah also isn't touching his pet buddies. The rabbits.

0:17:34 > 0:17:35But not because he can't.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39Hello.

0:17:39 > 0:17:40Come on.

0:17:42 > 0:17:46What I'll do, I'll stroke it, try playing with it a bit.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49And get to know it like one bit.

0:17:49 > 0:17:50Do you want some food?

0:17:53 > 0:17:57Yeow! Them rabbits are really close.

0:17:57 > 0:17:59Micah seems a bit wary around these bunnies.

0:17:59 > 0:18:01It's fair to sit down to get to know them.

0:18:01 > 0:18:03My time with them now has been really boring

0:18:03 > 0:18:08so they're quite boring and, like...yeah.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15At Pet School we like to bring in animals that some people

0:18:15 > 0:18:18do keep as pets but they're definitely not for beginners

0:18:18 > 0:18:21because they're extreme pets.

0:18:22 > 0:18:26Our first one is a tarantula and honestly I am terrified of them.

0:18:26 > 0:18:29I've chosen three Pet Heads who aren't too keen on them either.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31So we can face off here together.

0:18:31 > 0:18:32I definitely wouldn't recommend it

0:18:32 > 0:18:34as your first pet.

0:18:34 > 0:18:38It's a big commitment. A tarantula like this could live for 30 years.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42Sophie, how are you feeling at the moment? You've been keeping quiet.

0:18:42 > 0:18:45Erm, I'm not a big fan of spiders

0:18:45 > 0:18:48but I'm all right at this distance.

0:18:48 > 0:18:51- Should we be scared of them? - You shouldn't be scared of them.

0:18:51 > 0:18:52What would you should have,

0:18:52 > 0:18:55the same with any animal, is a healthy respect for them.

0:18:55 > 0:18:56Generally speaking,

0:18:56 > 0:19:00we don't recommend that you handle tarantulas.

0:19:00 > 0:19:04If I was to drop it, its body would burst like a bag of jelly.

0:19:04 > 0:19:06It would seriously damage the tarantula

0:19:06 > 0:19:07and with any wild animal,

0:19:07 > 0:19:09there's still always the potential

0:19:09 > 0:19:10to get bitten.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16So how are you feeling now, guys, if he was to come a little bit

0:19:16 > 0:19:19closer so that you can have a little look, how would that feel?

0:19:19 > 0:19:20Would you be all right with that?

0:19:20 > 0:19:22- Yeah.- Yeah? You not too sure, Soph?

0:19:22 > 0:19:24OK, I'll do it very, very slowly.

0:19:26 > 0:19:28You notice how slowly the tarantula is moving?

0:19:28 > 0:19:31This is quite a slow tarantula but you get some that move very,

0:19:31 > 0:19:32very quickly indeed.

0:19:32 > 0:19:35Do you want to hold it by any chance, anyone?

0:19:35 > 0:19:38Are you not confident enough? Michael wouldn't go near the rabbit.

0:19:38 > 0:19:40I think touching a tarantula just ain't going to happen.

0:19:40 > 0:19:42If I let the tarantula crawl along the floor

0:19:42 > 0:19:44and you put your hand down on the floor

0:19:44 > 0:19:46and let the tarantula crawl across your hand.

0:19:46 > 0:19:47We can all do that, can't we?

0:19:47 > 0:19:50Oh, my gosh. This is...

0:19:50 > 0:19:54- Oh, wow.- There you go.

0:19:54 > 0:19:56That's amazing.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00Micah, it's easy. It doesn't even feel like anything. Close your eyes.

0:20:00 > 0:20:03- I might as well.- Go on. You can do it.

0:20:03 > 0:20:05Now... Oh, my days!

0:20:05 > 0:20:07It's like a little cloud.

0:20:07 > 0:20:10Oh, my days, this is actually really cool!

0:20:10 > 0:20:12There, you need to try this, Sophie.

0:20:13 > 0:20:17- Oh, my God! That's horrible. - Well done.- I don't know.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20- I feel like I want to hold it. Would you? Any of you hold it?- Yeah.

0:20:22 > 0:20:25- There we go. - How does that feel?- It feels nice.

0:20:25 > 0:20:29It's like I'm... it's like I'm bonding with it.

0:20:29 > 0:20:32Did you ever think you'd be sitting here in Pet School

0:20:32 > 0:20:34holding a tarantula?

0:20:34 > 0:20:36No, I think it's really cool.

0:20:36 > 0:20:38That's mad, isn't it?

0:20:39 > 0:20:43- He started shaking his body. - Oh, my gosh!- Sophie.- Fingers out.

0:20:43 > 0:20:45Nice like that.

0:20:45 > 0:20:47Gently move it across.

0:20:48 > 0:20:50- My hand.- There we go.

0:20:50 > 0:20:51Look at that. Good girl.

0:20:51 > 0:20:53- Is that enough?- Yeah, OK.

0:20:53 > 0:20:54OK, no problem.

0:20:54 > 0:20:56Wow. Well done, mate.

0:20:56 > 0:20:57Well done.

0:20:57 > 0:20:58THEY APPLAUD

0:20:58 > 0:21:00It's all right.

0:21:00 > 0:21:04- It's just... It's like holding a teddy, really.- I might have a go.

0:21:04 > 0:21:05Yeah, why not?

0:21:05 > 0:21:08That's it so it's got a nice flat thing to sit on.

0:21:08 > 0:21:13- This is one of the coolest moments of my life.- Wow, look at that.

0:21:13 > 0:21:17Had enough? You've got a friend for life there, look.

0:21:17 > 0:21:21Well done, Micah, made up about that.

0:21:21 > 0:21:24- Looked at that.- Go on, then. Are you going to try it then, Aaron?

0:21:24 > 0:21:28- She's had enough for today. - Aarrr! Don't you...? Come on, Aaron.

0:21:31 > 0:21:34- Wow. Look at that, eh? - I'll take it.

0:21:34 > 0:21:37Wow, that's unbelievable, isn't it? Extreme pet.

0:21:37 > 0:21:40At first I was a bit anxious and a bit nervous to hold it,

0:21:40 > 0:21:45but after I saw the others do it, I was a bit more relaxed.

0:21:45 > 0:21:48It hardly even felt like anything was on my hand

0:21:48 > 0:21:52and I think I overcame my fear of tarantulas but maybe not

0:21:52 > 0:21:57normal spiders because they're a bit more small and a bit more horrible.

0:22:03 > 0:22:07Famous folk are always popping in to Pet School and Ashleigh

0:22:07 > 0:22:10and Pudsey are this week's surprise celebs.

0:22:10 > 0:22:11They couldn't wait to have a grand tour

0:22:11 > 0:22:13and see all our amazing animals.

0:22:13 > 0:22:16And whilst Pudsey's having a bowl of water, Giulia is telling

0:22:16 > 0:22:20Ashleigh it's rats, not dogs, that are man's best friend.

0:22:20 > 0:22:22This is my first time actually being around a rat.

0:22:22 > 0:22:26- Their tails slightly do scare me. - I'm with you there, Ashleigh.

0:22:26 > 0:22:30So I really thought they were dirty filthy creatures. A bit like you.

0:22:30 > 0:22:33Oi! That's not nice.

0:22:33 > 0:22:34A bit like me?!

0:22:34 > 0:22:35THEY LAUGH

0:22:35 > 0:22:37OK, then.

0:22:37 > 0:22:40No. Back.

0:22:40 > 0:22:44I think I probably hate rats more than you do.

0:22:44 > 0:22:49- Oh! Now I get you. Would I be able to hold...hold her?- Yeah.

0:22:49 > 0:22:51You would have to get it out for me.

0:22:51 > 0:22:52THEY LAUGH

0:22:52 > 0:22:54- Unbelievable, so it is.- Hello.

0:22:54 > 0:22:58Aw, they're actually quite nice. It's just their tails that freak me.

0:22:58 > 0:23:00She's not going to poo on me, is she?

0:23:00 > 0:23:02No, no, no, they don't poo a lot.

0:23:02 > 0:23:05The tail's flicking!

0:23:05 > 0:23:08- It's like a helicopter. - It is. It's got a life of its own.

0:23:08 > 0:23:12Giulia may be convincing Ashleigh of her new found pet-caring skills.

0:23:12 > 0:23:16But what do Mum, Dad and sister Giovanna think of her pet talents?

0:23:16 > 0:23:18Giulia likes playing violin...

0:23:20 > 0:23:21..dancing...

0:23:23 > 0:23:26..and eating crisps with grapes.

0:23:26 > 0:23:27Delicious.

0:23:27 > 0:23:30So, any previous experience with pets?

0:23:30 > 0:23:31I do have a dog.

0:23:31 > 0:23:33But I'm not bothered about him.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36He can be really annoying when I'm doing something like homework.

0:23:36 > 0:23:41I think she likes Jiju but she doesn't like to take care about him.

0:23:41 > 0:23:44You know you need to work, you need to clean, you need to...

0:23:44 > 0:23:46So many things to do.

0:23:46 > 0:23:48I have to pick up poo all the time

0:23:48 > 0:23:50because he poos a lot.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54Poo all picked up, job done.

0:23:54 > 0:23:58One day, I don't know when, I don't know how, but I want more pets.

0:23:58 > 0:24:01You need to learn to feed Jiju first to have another pet.

0:24:01 > 0:24:02Going to Pet School,

0:24:02 > 0:24:05I'm going to have to learn all different animals,

0:24:05 > 0:24:06take care of all different animals,

0:24:06 > 0:24:10be with all different animals and then I might care for animals

0:24:10 > 0:24:11and like them more.

0:24:11 > 0:24:14So Mum and Dad really need convincing.

0:24:14 > 0:24:17I wonder if Ashleigh can help with the dog-bonding issues?

0:24:17 > 0:24:20So what problems have you been having with him?

0:24:20 > 0:24:22I don't know how to bond with him exactly.

0:24:22 > 0:24:26Are you the one that does the feeding him and all of that?

0:24:26 > 0:24:29I, honestly, I only pick up his poo.

0:24:29 > 0:24:30And then sometimes feed him.

0:24:30 > 0:24:33- See, that's why.- That's why. - I just think, by the sounds of it,

0:24:33 > 0:24:34you need to get more involved with him.

0:24:34 > 0:24:37- Yeah.- At the moment, if you're just picking up his poo,

0:24:37 > 0:24:40He's not appreciating that much because he doesn't care, does he?

0:24:40 > 0:24:43So, erm, try to get involved with him more and...

0:24:43 > 0:24:45you know, take him for walks and play with him

0:24:45 > 0:24:49so he associates that playing with you and you get a stronger bond.

0:24:55 > 0:24:59Some of our cheekiest residents here at Pet School are Primrose

0:24:59 > 0:25:02and Pickles, and Chris has got the pleasure of buddying with them.

0:25:04 > 0:25:07You never know with these goats. Never turn your back on them.

0:25:07 > 0:25:11- How's it going?- It's good. - Now you've got a silent goat.

0:25:11 > 0:25:12Are you happy with that?

0:25:12 > 0:25:14I have to admit, it wasn't my first choice

0:25:14 > 0:25:17but then I realised I didn't really know much about them.

0:25:17 > 0:25:21So, um, I was pretty excited about having a go afterwards.

0:25:21 > 0:25:23If anyone else was thinking about having a go, what would you say?

0:25:23 > 0:25:26- What, you mean as a pet? - As a pet, yeah.

0:25:26 > 0:25:28Is it something to do or something you just keep on a farm?

0:25:28 > 0:25:32Well, I guess if you have a garden big enough you could have a goat

0:25:32 > 0:25:38but I guess it's still suited for er...they're still suited for...

0:25:38 > 0:25:41- It's still...- Where are you going? You said it doesn't run.

0:25:41 > 0:25:43Just let it run. You've just got to let it run.

0:25:43 > 0:25:45You haven't got much control over it, then?

0:25:45 > 0:25:48- If it's pulling you too hard, you've got to let it go.- Yeah, yeah.

0:25:48 > 0:25:51That's starting to run. What does that mean?

0:25:51 > 0:25:54- No, that's just... They're just playing.- Is that?

0:25:54 > 0:25:58That's them playing. Don't worry. They're very calm.

0:25:58 > 0:26:00I'm not sure if I completely trust these goats.

0:26:03 > 0:26:06And I'm not sure if Layla and Misty will trust Sam yet.

0:26:06 > 0:26:10It's early days and he'll have to work hard to buddy with them.

0:26:14 > 0:26:15Layla.

0:26:17 > 0:26:20Ah, Layla is finally showing a bit of interest.

0:26:20 > 0:26:23No, she's spotted something else to do, like sitting under a chair.

0:26:29 > 0:26:31They're keeping their distance so far.

0:26:31 > 0:26:34But that's probably because they're not used to me being around them

0:26:34 > 0:26:38but if they get around me, then they might like me.

0:26:38 > 0:26:41Maybe some cat nibbles will tempt them over?

0:26:41 > 0:26:45So, will Sam stay with his shedding snake he can't touch

0:26:45 > 0:26:49or go with the cats that are keeping their distance? Tough call.

0:26:49 > 0:26:52I finally decided that my new pet is going to be the cats

0:26:52 > 0:26:55because I can touch them, I can just interact with them

0:26:55 > 0:26:56better than the corn snake.

0:26:56 > 0:26:58CAT MIAOWS

0:26:58 > 0:27:00A mammoth decision for Sam.

0:27:00 > 0:27:03And a roller coaster of a day of pet buddying.

0:27:03 > 0:27:07Sam's left his perfect pet to give it a go with the cats.

0:27:07 > 0:27:11Liam's dream pet is not such a dream and Kiki and Tej are in pet

0:27:11 > 0:27:14and Pet Head paradise. Happy days.

0:27:17 > 0:27:18Phew.

0:27:18 > 0:27:21That's the end of another action-packed day here at Pet School

0:27:21 > 0:27:22and I tell you what,

0:27:22 > 0:27:26it certainly is the best school in the world bar none.

0:27:26 > 0:27:28I had to hold a tarantula today. Can you believe that?

0:27:28 > 0:27:31I'm not going to forget that one in a hurry. Cor!

0:27:32 > 0:27:34Next time on Pet School...

0:27:34 > 0:27:36Liam still won't scoop the poop...

0:27:36 > 0:27:38Oh my gosh!

0:27:38 > 0:27:41..Brett's getting stuck into some fast food...

0:27:41 > 0:27:42He's found him.

0:27:43 > 0:27:48- ..Micah's habit of not touching rabbits continues...- Come on.
