0:03:07 > 0:03:08Marie is going to be checking up on you,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11making sure you're looking after the animals properly as well.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13And now you've only got two weeks

0:03:13 > 0:03:15to try and change your parents' minds, to prove to them

0:03:15 > 0:03:18that you can be responsible enough to have your own pet at home.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20Are we up for the challenge?

0:03:20 > 0:03:22- ALL: Yeah! - Good. Glad to hear it.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25So every morning, you're going to be working in teams

0:03:25 > 0:03:27so you can complete our daily animal care tasks

0:03:27 > 0:03:29or, as we like to call them, Pet Practices.

0:03:29 > 0:03:33OK, so we're going to find out your groups.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37Group one is Ananya, William and Tommy

0:03:41 > 0:03:45- Yeah!- Yeah, happy with that? - Yes.- Good! OK.

0:03:45 > 0:03:51Group two, Sam, Chloe and Lauren.

0:03:51 > 0:03:53You're going to be with the rats.

0:03:55 > 0:03:56MUTED: Yeah.

0:03:56 > 0:03:59- A little delayed, there. - Well, I don't really like them.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02I haven't had experience with them, so that might change.

0:04:03 > 0:04:08OK, and group three - Courtney, Thomas and Faramarz.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11- You are going to be outdoors with the guinea pigs.- Yes!- Yes!

0:04:11 > 0:04:14Cool, OK, feeling good. Talk to me.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17Yeah, I feel good because my auntie has a guinea pig of her own.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20- OK, you know a little bit already. That's cool, that's cool.- Super.

0:04:20 > 0:04:24OK, well, there's no time to be hanging around - off you go.

0:04:24 > 0:04:25Have fun.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35Pet Practice is how we teach our Pet Heads just what's involved

0:04:35 > 0:04:39in making sure you've got a happy, healthy and well-looked-after pet.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41So will our Pet Heads rise to the challenge,

0:04:41 > 0:04:43or will they make a dog's dinner of it all?

0:04:45 > 0:04:47And speaking of dogs...

0:04:47 > 0:04:50William, Ananya and Tommy are hoping that with only 45 minutes

0:04:50 > 0:04:55to complete their tasks, their doggy duties will be a walk in the park.

0:04:55 > 0:04:59Hi gang, meet our Pet School dogs, Clark, Meadow and Gunner.

0:04:59 > 0:05:04Dogs need a lot of care and today, you three need to look after them.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07And make sure all of the following jobs are completed.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17Did somebody say walkies?

0:05:17 > 0:05:19BARKING

0:05:21 > 0:05:22Calm down.

0:05:22 > 0:05:23Shhh, shhh.

0:05:27 > 0:05:31OK, I'm getting really scared. This dog is scaring me.

0:05:31 > 0:05:32This dog is scaring me.

0:05:32 > 0:05:37I know who Clark is. Sit, stay, stay.

0:05:37 > 0:05:38Don't worry. Sit, sit.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40It's not a great start for Ananya.

0:05:42 > 0:05:46Ananya is ten years old and lives with her mum, dad and sister.

0:05:47 > 0:05:51She likes playing piano, watching funny films,

0:05:51 > 0:05:53and eating scrambled eggs.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55And one other thing you should know about her.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57I'm scared of animals.

0:05:58 > 0:06:01When she was little, she was bitten by a rabbit.

0:06:01 > 0:06:03Here you go. Ow!

0:06:03 > 0:06:05The moment she will see an animal from miles away,

0:06:05 > 0:06:07she will cross the road.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11But Ananya's not the only one afraid of animals, is she?

0:06:11 > 0:06:13I'm actually quite afraid of animals.

0:06:13 > 0:06:17I do have a phobia for touching the animals.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19I want to at least overcome my fear

0:06:19 > 0:06:23because when my sister's busy, I can have somebody to play with.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29I used to want a fish, but now fish are actually quite boring.

0:06:29 > 0:06:34So I want a pet which I can stroke and which I can cuddle

0:06:34 > 0:06:36and which I can walk with.

0:06:36 > 0:06:38Got any ideas?

0:06:38 > 0:06:40- I would choose a puppy.- OK.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44But there's one tiny problem with the puppy plan, isn't there, Ananya?

0:06:44 > 0:06:46If a dog just, like, jumps on me,

0:06:46 > 0:06:49and tries to get at me, I get really scared.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54So what will she have to prove at Pet School?

0:06:54 > 0:06:59She needs to get comfortable and get over the fear of having an animal.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02If I carry on being scared, then I won't get a pet.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07So I need to make sure that I don't get frightened.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09Hopefully, Pet School can help you with that.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13Over in the Furries room, team leader Lauren is being as quiet

0:07:13 > 0:07:14as a mouse.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17Or should that be a rat?

0:07:17 > 0:07:22- I can't pick up rats. I don't know how.- Marie, I think they need you.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25Do you want me to show you? I'll start with the first one.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28Stroke her on the back, let her know what you're going to do.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30And then we just lift them up around the middle.

0:07:30 > 0:07:32And bring her out, OK?

0:07:32 > 0:07:33Can I have that one?

0:07:33 > 0:07:35No, you've got to give it a whirl. Come on.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38We can do it. They're not going to hurt you.

0:07:38 > 0:07:39She's pretty worried.

0:07:39 > 0:07:42You're going to tell her that's it's nice and calm and she's OK.

0:07:42 > 0:07:45- But will they bite you or anything? - They won't bite you.

0:07:45 > 0:07:46Our rats are very friendly.

0:07:46 > 0:07:49And they need taking out of the cage if team leader Lauren,

0:07:49 > 0:07:52with Sam and Chloe, are going to complete their tasks.

0:07:52 > 0:07:53They must:

0:07:58 > 0:07:59All in 45 minutes.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04Honestly, it is not that bad at all.

0:08:05 > 0:08:07It doesn't hurt either, OK?

0:08:07 > 0:08:10I just can't pick it up. I don't know what it is.

0:08:10 > 0:08:12I just can't pick it up.

0:08:12 > 0:08:14Maybe if you knew some more about the rats,

0:08:14 > 0:08:16it might be easier to handle them.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21The Wood Green Rescue centre is where Rosie, Daisy

0:08:21 > 0:08:24and Primrose live when they're not at Pet School.

0:08:24 > 0:08:27They were born here, after their parents were brought in.

0:08:27 > 0:08:29Tell us more about them, Marie.

0:08:29 > 0:08:32The owner originally bought two rats, a male and a female.

0:08:32 > 0:08:36So very quickly, two rats became over 100 rats.

0:08:36 > 0:08:38The owner couldn't handle that many rats.

0:08:38 > 0:08:41So if you are thinking of getting rats, unless you want

0:08:41 > 0:08:45lots of babies, make sure you get two males or two females.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47The girlies here are dumbo rats.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50They've got big ears, which are right on the side of their heads.

0:08:50 > 0:08:51Normal rats have top ears,

0:08:51 > 0:08:54so they're slightly smaller just on the top.

0:08:54 > 0:08:57Out of the three rats, Rosie is the most confident

0:08:57 > 0:08:59whereas the other two, they're a little bit shy still,

0:08:59 > 0:09:02so they're going to need a bit of time spending with them

0:09:02 > 0:09:04although Daisy here seems to actually be settling quite well,

0:09:04 > 0:09:07and is now quite confidant sitting on my shoulder.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10I think the rats will bring a lot of personality to Pet School.

0:09:10 > 0:09:12And the Pet Heads are going to be really surprised

0:09:12 > 0:09:14at how cool they are.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19Ready, there's one. Oh, he won't go in.

0:09:19 > 0:09:20Close it. Close it.

0:09:20 > 0:09:22Where's the other one? There's three.

0:09:22 > 0:09:23Let me hold it closed.

0:09:23 > 0:09:25- Where's the other one. - There's two up there.

0:09:25 > 0:09:28Oh, yeah, there are, OK.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30Chloe's not picking Rosie up by the tail, which is brilliant,

0:09:30 > 0:09:32as that would hurt her.

0:09:32 > 0:09:35Did you know, rats use their tail to control their temperature,

0:09:35 > 0:09:36as they can't sweat.

0:09:38 > 0:09:39Guys, quick, quickly, quickly.

0:09:39 > 0:09:43- OK. There's no way we're going to finish this on time.- No.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46That's not the best way to motivate your team, Lauren.

0:09:46 > 0:09:48Out in the field, Thomas, Courtney

0:09:48 > 0:09:51and Faramarz have met Max, the guinea pig

0:09:51 > 0:09:54and his ten wives.

0:09:54 > 0:09:57With Thomas as team leader, this team has 45 minutes to:

0:10:03 > 0:10:05Thomas and Courtney are wheeling out the food,

0:10:05 > 0:10:08as Faramarz shows how not to catch a guinea pig.

0:10:10 > 0:10:11Seriously?

0:10:17 > 0:10:19I just tried stroking one of them.

0:10:19 > 0:10:20But then it backed away.

0:10:20 > 0:10:23I got freaked out, so I just decided not to touch them,

0:10:23 > 0:10:25until, um, Thomas and Courtney come back.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29Faramarz may be taking it easy,

0:10:29 > 0:10:31but Thomas is being a true team leader,

0:10:31 > 0:10:35and giving all the hard work to Courtney.

0:10:35 > 0:10:36Come on, you can do it.

0:10:37 > 0:10:41If you need any help, just ask.

0:10:41 > 0:10:43I haven't got one of them inside there.

0:10:43 > 0:10:44None of them are coming.

0:10:44 > 0:10:47You've let one of them out. I'll help.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50Come on, come on, come on!

0:10:50 > 0:10:54Thomas, they're guinea pigs, not dogs.

0:10:54 > 0:10:57- Come on, come on, girl. - Is there any more?

0:10:57 > 0:11:00Stop being scared. It's OK.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02They're harmless.

0:11:02 > 0:11:05Everybody, get everything out, not shut it up.

0:11:05 > 0:11:08- There's one more in there. - How are we getting on? All right?

0:11:08 > 0:11:10Really badly.

0:11:10 > 0:11:13It looks like my bedroom in here, guys. It's a mess.

0:11:13 > 0:11:14How are we getting on, Faramarz?

0:11:14 > 0:11:17He's quite scared of picking them up.

0:11:17 > 0:11:18Why are you scared of picking them up?

0:11:18 > 0:11:20Look at what happened to my skin.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23You've got to come closer, come a little closer.

0:11:23 > 0:11:25I can't see anything, Faramarz.

0:11:25 > 0:11:27Faramarz wasn't really helping much.

0:11:27 > 0:11:29Because he got one little scratch on his finger,

0:11:29 > 0:11:33he didn't really want to help us.

0:11:33 > 0:11:35Thomas, what's happening? Tell us what's going on next?

0:11:35 > 0:11:38- What are you doing now? - It's kind of manic. Leave it.

0:11:38 > 0:11:40But there's one in the bag, it's not meant to be there.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42You're going to have to get stuff organised,

0:11:42 > 0:11:44if you want to get through all three tasks.

0:11:44 > 0:11:47Go in there, start cleaning up. I'll get those two in here.

0:11:47 > 0:11:49Have a think. You need to crack on. I'm going to leave you to it.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52- Good luck, guys. See you in a bit. - I've got him.

0:11:52 > 0:11:53As this team looks like

0:11:53 > 0:11:56they're making a pig's ear of the guinea tasks,

0:11:56 > 0:11:58over in the dog room, with only 25 minutes left on the clock,

0:11:58 > 0:12:01Clark, Meadow and Gunner are unleashing chaos.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06Gunner, no. Get him!

0:12:06 > 0:12:10No! No! I'll get him.

0:12:12 > 0:12:13Get back here.

0:12:15 > 0:12:18No!

0:12:21 > 0:12:23Up, up.

0:12:23 > 0:12:25As Clark shows Tommy who's top dog,

0:12:25 > 0:12:28Ananya shows that despite her fear of dogs,

0:12:28 > 0:12:31if at first you don't succeed...

0:12:31 > 0:12:32Sit, sit.

0:12:32 > 0:12:34..Try again.

0:12:34 > 0:12:36- Sit.- ..And again.

0:12:36 > 0:12:38Come on, boy, sit.

0:12:38 > 0:12:39..And again.

0:12:39 > 0:12:41Sit.

0:12:41 > 0:12:42..And again.

0:12:42 > 0:12:43Sit!

0:12:47 > 0:12:50Good boy, well done.

0:12:50 > 0:12:54When I actually said sit, I just needed to say "Stanley,"

0:12:54 > 0:12:57then Gunner would actually sit.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00The dog's called Meadow!

0:13:00 > 0:13:03Otherwise it would pounce up.

0:13:03 > 0:13:05- She- would pounce up.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08It's her first day, Meadow, she'll learn.

0:13:08 > 0:13:11Team leader William arrives with the dog food.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14But one canine customer isn't going to be happy.

0:13:15 > 0:13:18Oh, no, I need to go get some more food for Clark.

0:13:18 > 0:13:20Should I go and get the food?

0:13:20 > 0:13:23How will I know what Clark's food is?

0:13:23 > 0:13:25- It says it on his tin.- OK.

0:13:25 > 0:13:27As the hunt for Clark's food begins,

0:13:27 > 0:13:29with less than 15 minutes to go on Pet Practice,

0:13:29 > 0:13:32Thomas has decided that being team leader

0:13:32 > 0:13:34is all the hard work he needs to do.

0:13:34 > 0:13:37Faster, come on.

0:13:37 > 0:13:38I'm hurrying.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41- Actually, do you want to swap jobs? You'll be better at this.- OK.

0:13:41 > 0:13:44I'll put this all in the bag and you'll do that.

0:13:44 > 0:13:46Come on, we can do this.

0:13:46 > 0:13:48We're cleaning out the shed at the moment.

0:13:48 > 0:13:50WE are cleaning out the shed?

0:13:50 > 0:13:54We need to get some new paper in there for the hamsters.

0:13:54 > 0:13:55They're guinea pigs.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58Where is...

0:13:58 > 0:13:59Faramarz?

0:13:59 > 0:14:00I've lost him.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02I think he's stuck.

0:14:04 > 0:14:07You might be waiting a while for that paper.

0:14:09 > 0:14:10In the Furries Room,

0:14:10 > 0:14:13things are looking ropy on the rat ladder front

0:14:13 > 0:14:15for Sam, Chloe and Lauren.

0:14:15 > 0:14:18It says you've got to plait fabric.

0:14:18 > 0:14:19Plait fabric?

0:14:19 > 0:14:21I can't plait.

0:14:21 > 0:14:23I can plait.

0:14:23 > 0:14:26Right, where's the fabric? What are we supposed to plait?

0:14:26 > 0:14:27Just anything.

0:14:27 > 0:14:31I don't think a tiny bit of paper counts as fabric, Chloe.

0:14:32 > 0:14:35Maybe you'll do better with the weighing task...

0:14:35 > 0:14:36Hey, hey, hey!

0:14:36 > 0:14:38Or maybe not.

0:14:38 > 0:14:40Guys, I think we seriously got the wrong scales.

0:14:40 > 0:14:43- Do you want me to go get it? - Yeah, you go get the scales.

0:14:44 > 0:14:47As this team weigh in on the rat tasks,

0:14:47 > 0:14:50Ananya is still hunting for Clark the dog's food.

0:14:50 > 0:14:52Where can it be?

0:14:52 > 0:14:57- One big bad problem has erupted. - What?

0:14:57 > 0:15:00She isn't back with the food yet. For Clark.

0:15:00 > 0:15:01She'll be back.

0:15:01 > 0:15:03She better be. Come on, come on.

0:15:05 > 0:15:07Where can it be?

0:15:07 > 0:15:11OK, Ananya, Clark eats meat. Where would you find meat?

0:15:12 > 0:15:17Uhhh...well, at the butcher's?

0:15:17 > 0:15:18Try again.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21Well, maybe in the fridge or something.

0:15:21 > 0:15:25Bingo. The fridge. But we're not going to look there.

0:15:26 > 0:15:31So Clark's dinner is off the menu. But William has come up with a plan.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34There's some treats. I might have to feed him that.

0:15:34 > 0:15:36But I don't think I should

0:15:36 > 0:15:39because treats are supposed to be like a treat, not a whole meal.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43Yet Clark's getting them anyway.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46With under ten minutes to go, Clark's lack of dinner is big news.

0:15:46 > 0:15:49And Faramarz is making headlines too.

0:15:49 > 0:15:51Well, he's reading them.

0:15:53 > 0:15:56Tell him to hurry up, he's taking a long time.

0:15:56 > 0:16:00Quick, we haven't got much time. Run!

0:16:00 > 0:16:03- My leg hurts. - My back hurts but I'm still working.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06We're almost done, we just have to put them back in.

0:16:06 > 0:16:09Why are you reading a newspaper? You're not helping us.

0:16:09 > 0:16:13- OK, get out of the way. - Quickly. Quickly.

0:16:13 > 0:16:16Yes, yes, we've done it.

0:16:16 > 0:16:18Time is up.

0:16:18 > 0:16:22So, on day one, have our Pet Heads made a good first impression,

0:16:22 > 0:16:24or are they going to be in the doghouse?

0:16:24 > 0:16:26Not the best.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28Still to come, Chloe's not impressed.

0:16:28 > 0:16:30It doesn't really count as a pet.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32Faramarz gets stuck.

0:16:35 > 0:16:37And Lauren isn't happy.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40I really don't like them at all.

0:16:45 > 0:16:49Hello. Day one, pet practice, your first one is done.

0:16:49 > 0:16:52Courtney, Thomas and Faramarz, you're with the guinea pigs, right?

0:16:52 > 0:16:54ALL: Yeah.

0:16:54 > 0:16:56You did manage to change their beds, you managed to feed them,

0:16:56 > 0:16:59and give them water. Well done, you passed your tasks.

0:16:59 > 0:17:01Good work. You got yourself a little injury, Faramarz,

0:17:01 > 0:17:04- didn't you, on your finger? - Yes.- Show everyone that.

0:17:04 > 0:17:07- LAUGHTER - Where is it again?

0:17:07 > 0:17:09- There.- Are you OK, are you going to be all right?- Yeah.

0:17:09 > 0:17:13And we also had Chloe, Lauren and Sam with the rats.

0:17:13 > 0:17:15And tell me about the rat ladder you made.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18Cos we were rushed with time, we just had loads of paper

0:17:18 > 0:17:21and we just plaited it around and tied it up to the top.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24Right, OK, do you think they'll be able to climb up that?

0:17:24 > 0:17:27Unfortunately, you didn't complete you task for today.

0:17:27 > 0:17:32Tommy, Ananya and William, you did the dogs, how did you get on?

0:17:32 > 0:17:36Well, the dogs escaped. And Clark didn't get fed.

0:17:36 > 0:17:37Yeah.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39And also, we couldn't find Clark's food,

0:17:39 > 0:17:43so we ended up in the end giving him dog treats.

0:17:43 > 0:17:46Right, so starter course,

0:17:46 > 0:17:48main course and dessert was all dog treats, was it?

0:17:48 > 0:17:52- ALL: Yeah.- I mean, he got fed, but it's not ideal, is it?

0:17:52 > 0:17:53Good effort, but unfortunately,

0:17:53 > 0:17:55you've not passed your task for today.

0:17:55 > 0:17:58I know it's your first day, so for those who didn't complete it,

0:17:58 > 0:18:00we're going to let you off, just this once.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03But from tomorrow, if you don't finish your pet practices,

0:18:03 > 0:18:05you're going to lose time with your pet buddies.

0:18:05 > 0:18:08And you're going to have to come back to complete the task.

0:18:08 > 0:18:10Now talking of pet buddies,

0:18:10 > 0:18:14- who wants to know which animal they're paired with?- ALL: Me!

0:18:14 > 0:18:16Yes, here, behind us, are nine pigeonholes.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18Inside is a letter from Pet School -

0:18:18 > 0:18:21it's going tell you which animal you are paired with.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23Go and have a look, go, go, go, go, go.

0:18:26 > 0:18:28Yes.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31Ferrets, yes.

0:18:32 > 0:18:34Uh! Rabbits.

0:18:34 > 0:18:36I got Clark the dog.

0:18:36 > 0:18:38Lucky!

0:18:38 > 0:18:40That's it.

0:18:42 > 0:18:43Don't be upset. I love goats.

0:18:43 > 0:18:45Goats are the most interesting creatures ever.

0:18:45 > 0:18:47I got the cats.

0:18:47 > 0:18:49I got a baby dragon, you see.

0:18:49 > 0:18:50I got the guinea pigs.

0:18:50 > 0:18:55What have you got? The chickens! You not happy?

0:18:55 > 0:18:57- No, I don't like them. - You don't like them?

0:18:57 > 0:18:59- No.- What's not, what's not to like?

0:18:59 > 0:19:01I just don't like them.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03Well, this is the test, isn't it?

0:19:03 > 0:19:04This is where your parents can watch.

0:19:04 > 0:19:07You've got an opportunity to prove yourself.

0:19:07 > 0:19:08They don't look so bad, do they?

0:19:08 > 0:19:10You never know. It could be all right.

0:19:10 > 0:19:13Maybe at the end of it, you'll get through it.

0:19:13 > 0:19:15- I just don't like them at all. - Come here, come here.

0:19:15 > 0:19:18- I'm really crying. - We'll be here, we'll be here.

0:19:18 > 0:19:20We'll meet them and get to know them.

0:19:20 > 0:19:22- We'll be mates by the end. - I don't like them at all.

0:19:22 > 0:19:26It's going to be an interesting few days for Lauren.

0:19:26 > 0:19:29But hopefully, Marie can help her learn to love our chickens.

0:19:31 > 0:19:33OK, guys, so you've got all your animals,

0:19:33 > 0:19:35you know who your pet buddies are.

0:19:35 > 0:19:37They're waiting for you to go make friends with them.

0:19:37 > 0:19:39Off you go. Go see them.

0:19:39 > 0:19:42The Pet Heads have each been assigned their pet buddy.

0:19:42 > 0:19:44And here's how they match up.

0:19:44 > 0:19:46Faramarz will get friendly with the ferrets.

0:19:46 > 0:19:48And Chloe's got the goats.

0:19:48 > 0:19:51William's buddy is the bearded dragon,

0:19:51 > 0:19:53whilst Ananya's befriending the bunnies.

0:19:53 > 0:19:55Tommy's taking on the rats.

0:19:55 > 0:19:57And Sam has scored the cats.

0:19:57 > 0:19:59Thomas has got the guinea pigs.

0:19:59 > 0:20:01Courtney's collared Clark.

0:20:01 > 0:20:03And Lauren's landed the chickens.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11Bleurgh, perfect weather for ducks!

0:20:11 > 0:20:13Except we haven't got any ducks at Pet School.

0:20:13 > 0:20:16All of our Pet Heads have now got their own pets to look after.

0:20:16 > 0:20:18And it's really important that they make the most of it

0:20:18 > 0:20:20and bond the best they can with them.

0:20:20 > 0:20:22It all goes towards the big decision

0:20:22 > 0:20:24their parents are going to have to make -

0:20:24 > 0:20:26can they have a pet of their own at home?

0:20:26 > 0:20:30But I don't think it's going to be as easy as some of them think.

0:20:30 > 0:20:32I will join them in just a minute.

0:20:33 > 0:20:38Most of the Pet Heads are happy with their buddies. But others...

0:20:38 > 0:20:42I got the goat as my pet buddy. I'm not too happy about it,

0:20:42 > 0:20:45because there's nothing you can really do with a goat.

0:20:45 > 0:20:47It doesn't really, to me, count as a pet

0:20:47 > 0:20:49because you can't cuddle up to it,

0:20:49 > 0:20:52you can't really speak with it, it just sits there.

0:20:52 > 0:20:55I'm not sure if I'm meant to pet them or anything.

0:20:55 > 0:20:56Whoa.

0:21:01 > 0:21:05Off they go. They're gone.

0:21:06 > 0:21:09Don't take it personally. Tommy, Bill and Ben are just shy.

0:21:13 > 0:21:15Yes. Well, they're getting there, they're eating.

0:21:15 > 0:21:17But there's not much else to do.

0:21:17 > 0:21:19I'm not sure what I'm meant to do afterwards.

0:21:19 > 0:21:23But just sit, maybe, because they seem happy in the shed.

0:21:23 > 0:21:27I'm not sure if that's going to impress Mum and Dad, Chloe.

0:21:27 > 0:21:31Meanwhile, over at the ferrets, Faramarz is also struggling...

0:21:31 > 0:21:32With the door.

0:21:39 > 0:21:42Whilst Faramarz wants to get in the enclosure,

0:21:42 > 0:21:44Lauren, with her fear of chickens,

0:21:44 > 0:21:46is quite happy to stay outside the coop.

0:21:46 > 0:21:49CHICKENS CLUCK

0:21:49 > 0:21:51Why have you got this fear?

0:21:51 > 0:21:53Cos a couple of weeks ago, I got attached by a chicken

0:21:53 > 0:21:56up at the horse farm and I just had a fear.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58And what did the chicken do?

0:21:58 > 0:22:01It chased after me and started jumping at me and pecking me.

0:22:01 > 0:22:04So how are you feeling about just standing outside with them

0:22:04 > 0:22:06- moving around me?- All right.

0:22:06 > 0:22:09- Yeah?- Yeah.- You feeling a bit comfortable about it?

0:22:09 > 0:22:13So, really, chickens, they just want to eat all the time, OK?

0:22:13 > 0:22:15They're pretty nosey things.

0:22:15 > 0:22:18If you've got food, they want to come over and see what there is.

0:22:18 > 0:22:20They're going to come over, have a little look.

0:22:20 > 0:22:21If they do peck...

0:22:21 > 0:22:23It might be that you've got a colour on your shoe that they see.

0:22:23 > 0:22:26They know a lot of colours. Red is their favourite.

0:22:26 > 0:22:28Will they peck my shoes?

0:22:28 > 0:22:30No, because it's quite a big space, your shoe.

0:22:30 > 0:22:33You're going to be making a lot of slow movements. They won't see it.

0:22:33 > 0:22:36They get really excited by red things moving around.

0:22:36 > 0:22:39We're going to be fine. So you start coming in and just let me know.

0:22:39 > 0:22:41Just say stop and they're going to stay there. That's fine.

0:22:41 > 0:22:43Only go as far as you want to.

0:22:43 > 0:22:46- Can I come in? - Yeah, you most certainly can.

0:22:50 > 0:22:54- So how are you feeling? Tell me. - Really scared.- Yeah?

0:22:55 > 0:22:58CHICKENS CLUCK

0:22:58 > 0:23:00So I think, because of all of this rain,

0:23:00 > 0:23:02they're hiding under the shelters,

0:23:02 > 0:23:04so I think let's leave them for today.

0:23:04 > 0:23:06You've done an amazing job. You're inside a chicken coop.

0:23:06 > 0:23:10- How cool do you feel?- Really cool. - Yeah. You've done a fab job.

0:23:10 > 0:23:14Being bitten or pecked by an animal can be really scary,

0:23:14 > 0:23:16so that's amazing work, Lauren.

0:23:16 > 0:23:19Back at the ferrets, Faramarz is finally inside

0:23:19 > 0:23:22with Flint and Smokey, his buddies.

0:23:22 > 0:23:24They pooed. They pooed! Ewww!

0:23:24 > 0:23:26I think they might have pooed.

0:23:26 > 0:23:27Disgusting.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31Faramarz is 11 years old and lives with his mum, dad,

0:23:31 > 0:23:34two brothers and his sister.

0:23:34 > 0:23:37Faramarz enjoys playing video games, trampolining

0:23:37 > 0:23:39and playing football.

0:23:41 > 0:23:43So what pet would you like, Faramarz?

0:23:43 > 0:23:45A cat, because it's furry and it just licks you.

0:23:45 > 0:23:47And what's the problem?

0:23:47 > 0:23:50My mum and dad don't think I'm responsible enough for one,

0:23:50 > 0:23:52because I'm lazy and I like sleeping,

0:23:52 > 0:23:53which is one of my hobbies.

0:23:53 > 0:23:56He loves sleep, yeah. He loves to sleep.

0:23:56 > 0:23:59But it's not just being lazy that's the problem, is it?

0:23:59 > 0:24:01I'm scared of claws.

0:24:01 > 0:24:02But cats have claws.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04That's one of the bad things about a cat.

0:24:04 > 0:24:07Cos they have a lot of claws. Ten.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10OK, so what does Faramarz have to do at Pet School?

0:24:10 > 0:24:16We need Faramarz to get used to a pet. Scratching is quite normal.

0:24:16 > 0:24:18Any other concerns, Dad?

0:24:18 > 0:24:21Now he is telling us he is responsible,

0:24:21 > 0:24:24but still we are not very convinced.

0:24:24 > 0:24:27So how are you going to change their minds, Faramarz?

0:24:27 > 0:24:30I'm going to need to show my parents that I can feed it,

0:24:30 > 0:24:33take care of it, take it to the vet regularly.

0:24:33 > 0:24:37Despite my laziness, yeah, I'll try to overcome it.

0:24:43 > 0:24:45So how is it going making ferret friends?

0:24:45 > 0:24:48I tried playing with the black one but it started looking at my finger.

0:24:48 > 0:24:51It started licking its lips, and I thought that's a bad idea.

0:24:51 > 0:24:53I want to be friends, don't you?

0:24:53 > 0:24:56Faramarz isn't the only Pet Head worried about being bitten

0:24:56 > 0:24:58by their pet buddy.

0:24:58 > 0:25:01So we're going to meet Custard and Freckles.

0:25:01 > 0:25:04- I hear you've got a little bit of a fear of rabbits.- Yeah.

0:25:04 > 0:25:05Yeah. So tell me what happened?

0:25:05 > 0:25:09I was at my friend's birthday party and I got bitten by a rabbit.

0:25:09 > 0:25:14They were just in their cage and I was just, through the gap,

0:25:14 > 0:25:16I was just trying to feed them.

0:25:16 > 0:25:20Right, OK, OK. Often, when they're in small spaces like that,

0:25:20 > 0:25:23they feel a little bit sort of threatened.

0:25:23 > 0:25:25So you need to make sure that they're in a situation

0:25:25 > 0:25:28where they can walk away from you if they want to. OK.

0:25:28 > 0:25:32So what I think we'd like to do, once you're feeling ready to,

0:25:32 > 0:25:35is really, we'll come in and we'll either bend down,

0:25:35 > 0:25:36so you're sitting like this.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39Or we're going to sit with our legs stretched out, holding the food.

0:25:39 > 0:25:42These guys are going to come up to you.

0:25:42 > 0:25:44They have a scent gland underneath their chin,

0:25:44 > 0:25:45and what he's going to do is...

0:25:45 > 0:25:47he might come up to you and just rub your shoe.

0:25:47 > 0:25:49He might go and rub your leg.

0:25:49 > 0:25:52Just have a little check, and that's just to decide and say,

0:25:52 > 0:25:54"Yeah, I quite like you, you can come into my home."

0:25:54 > 0:25:56So how do you feel about coming in?

0:25:56 > 0:26:00I'm fine because I actually want to overcome my fear.

0:26:00 > 0:26:01What I'll get you to do,

0:26:01 > 0:26:03you can just hold on to a cabbage leaf for me,

0:26:03 > 0:26:05and I've got a little bit of lemon balm here.

0:26:05 > 0:26:07How do you feel about her being near you right now?

0:26:07 > 0:26:11Well, I'm all right, because she's quite a cute bunny.

0:26:11 > 0:26:14You're OK. You're doing really fab, well done.

0:26:14 > 0:26:16Keep hold of that cabbage, because the idea is

0:26:16 > 0:26:18that she comes to realise that you're her feeder.

0:26:18 > 0:26:20SHE STARTS
