0:02:17 > 0:02:18lots and lots of legs.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20How are we feeling, Lauren?

0:02:38 > 0:02:43You guys are going to with the ferrets, outside.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46- Yay!- Cool.- Now yesterday some of you guys didn't

0:02:46 > 0:02:47complete your pet practice task.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50And it was day one, we're going to put it down to nerves.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52We'll let you off. But from today -

0:02:52 > 0:02:54if you don't finish the tasks,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56you are going to lose time with your pet buddies.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58You are not going to be able to hang out with them,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00until your tasks are finished.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02SHE SIGHS

0:03:02 > 0:03:03It's quite tough, right.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05It's all part of being a responsible pet owner.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08If you want to prove to your parents you can do it, you can have a

0:03:08 > 0:03:11pet at home, this is part of it, OK? But for now, your pets are waiting.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13They are not going to clean themselves or feed themselves.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15Get to it. Go, go, go, go, go.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17I think our new pet practice rule has got

0:03:17 > 0:03:20some of the Pet Heads worried.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23I'd be quite sad if I lost time with my pet buddy Clark.

0:03:23 > 0:03:27But I'd have to try to make it up to him somehow.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28I hope we pass the task today,

0:03:28 > 0:03:30because I want to spend more time with my animal.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32Same here.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34See, I want to pass it because I'll let you down,

0:03:34 > 0:03:37but I really don't want to spend much time with mine.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39It's a goat!

0:03:39 > 0:03:42I love my bearded dragon, Leonardo.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45I can't believe we're going to lose time for our pet buddies.

0:03:45 > 0:03:48I'm very worried cos I think we're going to fail.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55Our Pet Heads really want their parents to buy them

0:03:55 > 0:03:57a pet of their own.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59And pet practice is an important way of proving

0:03:59 > 0:04:01they can be responsible pet owners.

0:04:01 > 0:04:05But still a little way to go. Can they work as a team?

0:04:05 > 0:04:07Or will they just bug each other?

0:04:07 > 0:04:09Bug each other, good one.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11Faramarz, Lauren and Thomas will need to make sure

0:04:11 > 0:04:14they don't work through their creepy crawly check list at

0:04:14 > 0:04:18a snail's pace, if they want maximum time with their pet buddies.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21Welcome to the bug room, we need to change the bramble,

0:04:21 > 0:04:25in the stick insect enclosure.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28Change the food in the land snail and cockroaches enclosure,

0:04:28 > 0:04:31spray water in the millipede enclosure.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34"You have 45 minutes to complete the pet practice.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37"Faramarz, you are the team leader, good luck."

0:04:37 > 0:04:39Someone's happy about being team leader.

0:04:39 > 0:04:42- What is this for?- Change the bramble.- What is this?

0:04:42 > 0:04:44- Right, I'll spray the millipede. - That's a stick insect.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47- What is in that one? - Cockroach.- Are you sure?

0:04:47 > 0:04:50- Look, come here.- Oh! - Cockroaches are fine.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53So, we need to take the whole thing off or just this?

0:04:53 > 0:04:56OK, I'm just going to open it. They shouldn't attack.

0:04:58 > 0:04:59It's moving a bit.

0:04:59 > 0:05:01- It's moving a bit.- Close that, close that.

0:05:01 > 0:05:04Our millipedes may look like they have 1,000 legs,

0:05:04 > 0:05:06but they only have between 40 and 400.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10- I'll open this one.- Grab it.- There you go.

0:05:10 > 0:05:12Oh, sugar plums.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14- THEY LAUGH - I've got it.

0:05:14 > 0:05:17Sorry, mate, but things have to be done.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20And also needing to be done are the gerbil tasks in the furries room.

0:05:20 > 0:05:24Where things are going slowly, thanks to some fast rodents.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27Oh, ow!

0:05:27 > 0:05:28If we can catch them.

0:05:28 > 0:05:32I need to see where they are, I can't find them.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34Get it, get it. Mind the tail, mind the tail.

0:05:37 > 0:05:39You need to catch those gerbils, team.

0:05:39 > 0:05:43You only have 45 minutes to change their bedding, feed them,

0:05:43 > 0:05:45and make them a gerbil hotel.

0:05:46 > 0:05:49I'm really nervous about time now, aren't you?

0:05:49 > 0:05:52Yeah, I am, but don't get too panicked.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54Right. OK, keep calm.

0:05:54 > 0:05:55I'm the team leader.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57We'll just have to work quicker.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00- I didn't realise.- We'll just have to work quicker.- OK.

0:06:00 > 0:06:02Once we've got them all out, yeah.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05- Don't panic. So once we get them out...- Work quick.

0:06:05 > 0:06:09- We can do, literally straight in. - "Work quick, literally straight in."

0:06:09 > 0:06:11Got that, Courtney?

0:06:11 > 0:06:17Courtney is 11 years old, and lives with her mum, dad and sister.

0:06:17 > 0:06:22She likes football, designing clothes and playing the cups.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27So, Courtney, what's your pet situation?

0:06:27 > 0:06:29My mum has two parrotfish.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31I think the parrotfish are quite boring.

0:06:31 > 0:06:34Cos you can't do anything with them.

0:06:34 > 0:06:36That's why I'd like to have a dog.

0:06:36 > 0:06:38BARKS AND GROWLS

0:06:38 > 0:06:40So, what's the problem, Mum?

0:06:40 > 0:06:43At the moment she can't even keep her room clean,

0:06:43 > 0:06:46so having a pet is a bit of hard work cos she's not

0:06:46 > 0:06:48going to be able to clean it up.

0:06:48 > 0:06:53If I was to have a dog, I would pay attention to my room and to the dog.

0:06:53 > 0:06:55So what does Courtney need to prove at Pet School, Dad?

0:06:56 > 0:07:00If she can show us that she can be responsible, she can be clean,

0:07:00 > 0:07:04she can be tidy, then maybe she can get a small pet.

0:07:04 > 0:07:06Courtney, what do you think your chances of getting a pet are?

0:07:06 > 0:07:0899%.

0:07:08 > 0:07:09VINYL RECORD SCRATCHES

0:07:09 > 0:07:10THEY LAUGH

0:07:10 > 0:07:1199% sure!

0:07:13 > 0:07:16Over at the ferrets, Sam and William are making new friends,

0:07:16 > 0:07:19while team leader, Chloe has chose to get task supplies.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23They must check Smokey and Flint's ears for wax.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26Change their bedding, and make them a swimming pool.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30- You hold it.- You hold it.

0:07:32 > 0:07:37- Stay, nicely, stay.- (Nicely.)

0:07:37 > 0:07:39Do you know what ear wax looks like?

0:07:39 > 0:07:43Not really. Come here, come here, nicely. Nicely.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46- Oh, that's got no ear wax, check that ear.- Nicely.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48There's no ear wax in that one.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50This pet practice is going really well,

0:07:50 > 0:07:54but Smokey and Flint, weren't always this well cared for.

0:07:54 > 0:07:58Our two friendly ferrets came to Pet School from a rescue centre

0:07:58 > 0:08:00where they lived with their friend Dora.

0:08:00 > 0:08:02Tell us more, Marie.

0:08:02 > 0:08:06Smokey arrived after being found all alone in a house.

0:08:06 > 0:08:09He was starving and you could really see all his bones.

0:08:09 > 0:08:11And he really was struggling to walk.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13Smokey needed that little bit of extra attention

0:08:13 > 0:08:17so the staff provided feeds throughout the day

0:08:17 > 0:08:19and night to slowly build him up to the weight.

0:08:19 > 0:08:23And also just gave him love and care to make him feel safe again.

0:08:23 > 0:08:26Flint was found in the bottom of a bin that was about to be

0:08:26 > 0:08:30emptied into the back of a lorry, so it was a lucky escape.

0:08:30 > 0:08:33We're not sure if Flint was a stray or if his owner deliberately

0:08:33 > 0:08:36put him in the bin, which really isn't very nice.

0:08:36 > 0:08:40Lucky, he was spotted just in time, and he was brought to us.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43Flint is a very active ferret. He is always up to mischief

0:08:43 > 0:08:46and wants to be busy all the time, he's a bit of an adventurer.

0:08:46 > 0:08:49As long as the ferrets get to have an occasional splash in their

0:08:49 > 0:08:53paddling bowl, they'll be really happy and get along at Pet School.

0:08:53 > 0:08:55Not too far from the ferrets, Thomas is getting

0:08:55 > 0:08:58prickly about the stick insect's bramble.

0:08:58 > 0:09:00- It was meant to have leaves. - OK, sorry, sorry.

0:09:00 > 0:09:02It was meant to have leaves.

0:09:02 > 0:09:04- Cut this side. - Yeah, I know.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06Yeah, that's all we need to do, cut this side.

0:09:06 > 0:09:09I'm a bit worried cutting all the leaves off

0:09:09 > 0:09:11because the other one had a lot of leaves on

0:09:11 > 0:09:16and I think they've done a mistake that they shouldn't have done.

0:09:16 > 0:09:18But they're not really listening to me.

0:09:18 > 0:09:22Meanwhile, having used almost half their time catching the gerbils,

0:09:22 > 0:09:25Tommy and Ananya and Courtney are rushing to complete their tasks.

0:09:27 > 0:09:31Oh, bedding, we haven't done the bedding, we need to do the bedding.

0:09:31 > 0:09:32I've done it.

0:09:32 > 0:09:35Are you sure we're supposed to put the food like that?

0:09:35 > 0:09:38Yeah, you hide it. Actually, can you have a look?

0:09:38 > 0:09:39Yeah, I'm just checking.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42- Yeah, scattered around the cave for them to find.- OK.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45- How are we getting on? Hello. - Well, we're doing all right.

0:09:45 > 0:09:47Yup, what are we working on?

0:09:47 > 0:09:49We've got the gerbils in that cage.

0:09:49 > 0:09:52- Good, is this part of the hotel? - Yeah.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54So, you've read the care book, right?

0:09:54 > 0:09:56Yeah, the care book's been read, which is there.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59I'm a little bit interested that you've got plastic toys in here.

0:09:59 > 0:10:03- Yeah.- You know Gerbils like to gnaw at stuff? They like to have a chew.

0:10:03 > 0:10:04Yeah, cardboard.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06- Cardboard over there.- Yeah.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11OK. What if they start eating this, is that a problem?

0:10:11 > 0:10:14- Yeah. It's not very good. - Have a look if it's bad or not.

0:10:14 > 0:10:17- You might want to check the care book.- "Warning".

0:10:17 > 0:10:19Yes, giant warning, in capital letters -

0:10:19 > 0:10:21"avoid putting plastic in the hotel".

0:10:23 > 0:10:25- Oh, no.- We can use all this cardboard and wood.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27A little rethink, good, good, good, a little rethink.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29How we going to do it?

0:10:29 > 0:10:31We'll have to make it out of cardboard and wood.

0:10:31 > 0:10:34Like, we got some cardboard tubes.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37Yeah, time is ticking, guys. Remember, you've got to complete it,

0:10:37 > 0:10:39or you're going to lose time with your pet buddies.

0:10:39 > 0:10:43I'm leaving you, make it best, make it luxury, make it awesome.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45Make them enjoy it, have fun. See you later, all right.

0:10:45 > 0:10:49See you. Oh, goodness, what the...?

0:10:49 > 0:10:53We should have looked at the manual before making it out of plastic,

0:10:53 > 0:10:56- we've just wasted our time. - We've got 12 minutes.

0:10:56 > 0:10:57I think we can do this.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00As a captain I advise you not to panic.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02Two minutes that will take us, maximum.

0:11:02 > 0:11:06As team captain, I advise nobody to panic, because if you panic

0:11:06 > 0:11:10the job won't get done, you'll be too busy thinking about other things.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12Good advice, Courtney.

0:11:12 > 0:11:14Back at the ferrets, Chloe is feeling a bit

0:11:14 > 0:11:16weighed down by the tasks.

0:11:17 > 0:11:21Chloe, you seem to be doing all the work today.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24Yeah, well, because I'm the team leader, I better get it done.

0:11:24 > 0:11:29Or maybe the team leader can get the guys doing some work!

0:11:29 > 0:11:31This will just be about the last thing after we

0:11:31 > 0:11:33get the beds set out.

0:11:33 > 0:11:35You guys seem to be working really well, I have to say.

0:11:35 > 0:11:37Make sure they don't drown in here.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40Exactly, so ferrets... they like to splash around in it,

0:11:40 > 0:11:42and they won't like to paddle. They are not going to want to swim.

0:11:42 > 0:11:44So I'd actually say that's about right.

0:11:44 > 0:11:47I'm going to have to shoot off now, got to go check some other animals.

0:11:47 > 0:11:51- Would you like a splash around? - Keep up the good team work.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Having spent most of pet practice in the store room,

0:11:53 > 0:11:57Chloe is the only person not to have held the ferrets.

0:11:57 > 0:12:00I might try to hold it, I'm just hoping it doesn't try to bite me.

0:12:00 > 0:12:02- What, have you not held one yet?- No.

0:12:02 > 0:12:06Just hold it under the tummy, then give it slow hands.

0:12:06 > 0:12:08- One under. - One under like that.

0:12:08 > 0:12:12So, just one hand underneath and then slowly...

0:12:12 > 0:12:14Bit slower...

0:12:14 > 0:12:16Chloe's finally held a ferret.

0:12:16 > 0:12:20But Lauren needs to come out of her shell with feeding the snails.

0:12:20 > 0:12:24Come on, Lauren, you can do it. You did say you like snails.

0:12:24 > 0:12:26Have you ever seen a snail bite someone's arm off?

0:12:26 > 0:12:28Come on, it's fine.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30Good point, good point, have you ever seen that?

0:12:30 > 0:12:32- How about that? What is that? - It's a piece of wood.

0:12:32 > 0:12:34Don't worry about that guy, he's not going to harm you.

0:12:34 > 0:12:36The book says you get your hands wet before you get

0:12:36 > 0:12:38the snails off cos you don't damage them.

0:12:38 > 0:12:40- Hands wet? - Spray, Come on, Lauren.

0:12:40 > 0:12:41- Spray your hands. - Put it in this.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44- How are you supposed to feed them? - Just got to put the lettuce in.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46Why do I have to get my hands wet?

0:12:46 > 0:12:50Cos if you get them out, cos look at this guy, if you get them

0:12:50 > 0:12:52out, you got to get them wet, cos they're slimy

0:12:52 > 0:12:55cos you don't want to pull them. Give them a slide, I think.

0:12:55 > 0:12:57There's some rotten lettuce in there, so if you leave them

0:12:57 > 0:13:00in there, they'll get parasites and bacteria and stuff.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02Look at him. What does he feel like, Thomas?

0:13:02 > 0:13:05He feels a bit slimy. He feels kind of gentle.

0:13:06 > 0:13:10With less than five minutes to go, back in the furries room,

0:13:10 > 0:13:15Ananya is discovering something that could mean failing pet practice.

0:13:15 > 0:13:16Did we put, like, fresh hay?

0:13:18 > 0:13:21Hay? Hay?

0:13:21 > 0:13:25But it does need to be tidied with fresh hay, have we done that?

0:13:31 > 0:13:32COCK CROWS

0:13:32 > 0:13:34That is it, time's up.

0:13:34 > 0:13:38So, have our Pet Heads successfully completed or are they going to

0:13:38 > 0:13:41have to lose time and sacrifice being with their pet buddies?

0:13:41 > 0:13:43It's getting tense.

0:13:43 > 0:13:46Coming up... something's bugging William.

0:13:46 > 0:13:51- I'm not going to open that bag! - Chloe's kidding around.

0:13:51 > 0:13:53Oh, dear. Oh, dear.

0:13:53 > 0:13:55And star of Tracy Beaker Returns

0:13:55 > 0:13:59and The Dumping Ground, Noah Marullo, drops in with his cat Leo.

0:13:59 > 0:14:03He needs a lot of work done for him so that he can be like a normal cat.

0:14:09 > 0:14:12Our Pet Heads' animals are waiting to play.

0:14:12 > 0:14:14Sam, Chloe and William successfully completed

0:14:14 > 0:14:16all of their ferret tasks.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19As did Thomas, Lauren and Faramarz with the bugs.

0:14:19 > 0:14:22They get maximum pet-buddy time.

0:14:22 > 0:14:25But for Courtney, Tommy and Ananya things didn't go quite so well.

0:14:25 > 0:14:27So we got it a little bit...

0:14:27 > 0:14:29So, just to talk you through what's gone wrong is...

0:14:29 > 0:14:32If you have a look in the cardboard hotel.

0:14:32 > 0:14:34We need to get fresh hay in there.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37In the wild, where do you think they'd be finding the food?

0:14:37 > 0:14:39Underground.

0:14:39 > 0:14:41Do you think all these seeds and bits

0:14:41 > 0:14:43- and pieces would be underground? - On top.- Yeah.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46OK, so we need to be getting some food scattered on top.

0:14:46 > 0:14:48They've got to come above ground to forage

0:14:48 > 0:14:51and go underneath to take into the nest.

0:14:51 > 0:14:52All right.

0:14:52 > 0:14:57I'm really annoyed with myself for not realising,

0:14:57 > 0:15:00and reading through the guide properly.

0:15:00 > 0:15:03THEY SIGH

0:15:03 > 0:15:05- So we've now just got to put the hay in.- Yeah.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08That will only take us about two minutes.

0:15:08 > 0:15:11Two minutes?! Didn't you say that last time, Tommy?

0:15:13 > 0:15:14Are we rushing again?

0:15:14 > 0:15:16OK, open it up!

0:15:17 > 0:15:22Tommy, can you just take that out to chop it up?

0:15:22 > 0:15:25It says that it needs to be chopped up.

0:15:25 > 0:15:27Yeah, I'm going to break it up.

0:15:27 > 0:15:31I think that's enough for all of them. Not too much.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34That's it, fine. Done.

0:15:34 > 0:15:35Shut the cage.

0:15:35 > 0:15:38She said it needs to be chopped up.

0:15:38 > 0:15:41- Yeah, that's why it's broken up. - And she said that um...

0:15:41 > 0:15:43More food needs to be scattered around.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46- Which we've done.- And put it on top, that's what we did.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48- And some hay. - I think that's it.

0:15:48 > 0:15:51In the furries room, Tommy, Ananya and Courtney didn't finish

0:15:51 > 0:15:55their pet practice on time, so they had to come back and finish it now.

0:15:55 > 0:15:58Meanwhile, everyone else is outside bonding with their pet buddies.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00Well on their way to showing their parents

0:16:00 > 0:16:02they should have a pet of their own.

0:16:02 > 0:16:05Lauren, however, is feeling nervous about bonding with her buddies

0:16:05 > 0:16:08and wasn't happy when given the chickens.

0:16:08 > 0:16:09CHICKENS CLUCK

0:16:09 > 0:16:11- You don't like them? - No!

0:16:11 > 0:16:12What's not to like?

0:16:12 > 0:16:16I got attacked by one a couple of weeks ago, I just don't like them!

0:16:16 > 0:16:18Hello...

0:16:19 > 0:16:21Great(!)

0:16:22 > 0:16:24I am really scared. Oh, gosh.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28Marie, she might need some help.

0:16:28 > 0:16:31When you go in, they're just going to walk back a little bit, OK.

0:16:31 > 0:16:35- OK.- Go in, just see how you're feeling. I'm right behind you.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40That's it, you're doing a fab job, well done.

0:16:40 > 0:16:42So, she's going to come up to you.

0:16:42 > 0:16:45She's going to see if I've sprinkled any food.

0:16:45 > 0:16:46One's looking at me.

0:16:46 > 0:16:48He's not. See, if I walk past him.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51- Nothing...- Could you stay here, please?- Yeah, I'm staying here.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53- Cos I really don't like it. - You're fine.

0:16:53 > 0:16:55It's just him that freaks me out.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57It's OK, I'll keep an eye on him. It's fine.

0:16:57 > 0:16:58- Oh, my...!- You're doing fine.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00Please, please, I really don't like it.

0:17:00 > 0:17:02You're fine, you're fine.

0:17:02 > 0:17:04I want to come out, I'm really scared.

0:17:07 > 0:17:08Come back out.

0:17:09 > 0:17:12Well, you've stepped in, and you've come back out again.

0:17:12 > 0:17:14You should be so proud of yourself, right now.

0:17:14 > 0:17:18What a plucky girl! Or should that be clucky?

0:17:18 > 0:17:19Back at the furries room,

0:17:19 > 0:17:22the team is still trying to finish pet practice.

0:17:22 > 0:17:26- Hey, guys, how are we doing? - I think quite well.

0:17:26 > 0:17:28Well, there's a couple of little points here,

0:17:28 > 0:17:30I don't think you were quite listening.

0:17:30 > 0:17:34Obviously, I did say that we need to break down some of the treats,

0:17:34 > 0:17:35we need to take some out.

0:17:35 > 0:17:38I can see a massive chunk of apple here.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41Also, we've got a nice gerbil hotel here, we've got a bit of hay

0:17:41 > 0:17:43there, and a bit of hay there, but do you think they're going to

0:17:43 > 0:17:46get nice and cosy in that house, do you think there's enough hay?

0:17:46 > 0:17:49- No.- No.- No, we're rushing it a little bit here, OK.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51So you need to take a step and think about it,

0:17:51 > 0:17:53I know you want to your pet-buddy time,

0:17:53 > 0:17:56but you need to get this right, it's really important for the gerbils.

0:17:56 > 0:17:57Crack on.

0:17:57 > 0:18:00Meanwhile, over at the storeroom, William is hopping straight

0:18:00 > 0:18:02into making Leonard the bearded dragon's dinner.

0:18:02 > 0:18:06But getting the insects out to put calcium on isn't quite going

0:18:06 > 0:18:07to plan.

0:18:07 > 0:18:09Have a little look. They look tasty, don't they?

0:18:09 > 0:18:12That's fresh food, it doesn't get fresher than that. Still alive.

0:18:12 > 0:18:14It's sort of one up from sushi, isn't it?

0:18:14 > 0:18:18It's the fact that they're jumping really high that freaks me out.

0:18:18 > 0:18:20What's your tactic?

0:18:20 > 0:18:22I wish you could just kill them!

0:18:22 > 0:18:24No, that's not the Pet School way!

0:18:24 > 0:18:26Do you want to take the lid out of the bag?

0:18:26 > 0:18:29That means I have to open the bag.

0:18:29 > 0:18:30This is it, this is your challenge.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32If you want to look after a bearded dragon,

0:18:32 > 0:18:34you have to do this every other day.

0:18:34 > 0:18:35HE GROANS

0:18:35 > 0:18:38Right, let me help you. Bag.

0:18:38 > 0:18:42I'll do the bag, you get in there, grab a hopper, chuck in the bag.

0:18:42 > 0:18:43Come on, mate, do this once.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46Imagine how proud your parents are going to be.

0:18:46 > 0:18:47If they see this at the end of two weeks.

0:18:47 > 0:18:50- I want a glove.- They're not going to bite you, though.

0:18:50 > 0:18:51I know, it's not that, it's not that

0:18:51 > 0:18:54- they're going to harm me. - Then what are you scared of, then?

0:18:54 > 0:18:55The fact that...

0:18:57 > 0:18:58- ..they jump.- OK. - They jump.

0:19:00 > 0:19:01That better not escape.

0:19:01 > 0:19:04Go, go, go quick, he's in, he's in!

0:19:04 > 0:19:06Sorry, guys, you've not got long left.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08WILLIAM CHUCKLES

0:19:08 > 0:19:09Blame William.

0:19:11 > 0:19:12I reckon that's enough for now.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14Get a little dose in there, that's it.

0:19:17 > 0:19:19I'd rather have a glass of milk if it was me.

0:19:19 > 0:19:20All right, this is your bag.

0:19:20 > 0:19:24- This is what I think I should do. - Uh-huh.- Give them a shake.

0:19:24 > 0:19:27They're not having a great day, are they, let's be honest.

0:19:29 > 0:19:33Outside in the field, Chloe is cleaning out her pet buddy's home.

0:19:33 > 0:19:36I say cleaning. It's more just trying to hide the poo.

0:19:38 > 0:19:41- Chloe, hey. - Hi.

0:19:41 > 0:19:43- How are we doing? - We're doing all right,

0:19:43 > 0:19:47I've just patched up any places were they've gone to the toilet in.

0:19:47 > 0:19:49- You've patched it up? - Yeah.

0:19:49 > 0:19:51And is there any cleaned out, the toilet?

0:19:51 > 0:19:54You can't so I've just covered it up. Still clean!

0:19:54 > 0:19:56But... yeah, the top bit is clean.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00You ought to take the poo out, then put the fresh bedding in.

0:20:00 > 0:20:04Otherwise, the animals will get parasites. Baaaeugh!

0:20:04 > 0:20:06I need to think of what else I can do with them.

0:20:06 > 0:20:09What about walking them? What if we get them on the leads

0:20:09 > 0:20:11and get to spend a bit of time with them?

0:20:11 > 0:20:13It's day two. Yeah. Why not.

0:20:13 > 0:20:16Grab yourself a lead, let's do it.

0:20:16 > 0:20:17Oh, dear, oh, dear, oh, dear.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20Oh, dear, oh, dear, strong...

0:20:20 > 0:20:23There you go, no...!

0:20:23 > 0:20:25You know what Chloe, they're your goats,

0:20:25 > 0:20:28so I'm going to leave you to it. Here's your other lead.

0:20:28 > 0:20:30- OK, OK. - Grab hold of this one.

0:20:30 > 0:20:33- You got that one as well? - Ahh!

0:20:33 > 0:20:35Cool, see you later, Chloe. Bye...

0:20:38 > 0:20:39Oh!

0:20:39 > 0:20:41She'll deal with that.

0:20:41 > 0:20:43Back at the furries, Tommy, Courtney

0:20:43 > 0:20:46and Ananya are STILL trying to finish pet practice.

0:20:48 > 0:20:52So, they've got hay, comfy box.

0:20:52 > 0:20:57- We've taken out some of the treats and broken up some.- Yeah.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01And we put lots more hay into that.

0:21:01 > 0:21:04And we put lots more hay inside the hotel.

0:21:05 > 0:21:07So...

0:21:07 > 0:21:09Let's have a look of this with the lid back on.

0:21:09 > 0:21:12OK, I'm going to have to do my walk-round inspection here.

0:21:15 > 0:21:18Yeah, that looks good, we've got food scattered on the top,

0:21:18 > 0:21:19they are going to come out.

0:21:20 > 0:21:23Much better with the hay, I'm a lot happier with that now.

0:21:23 > 0:21:26I'm really pleased with that. Well done, guys.

0:21:26 > 0:21:27Just make sure you take it slowly

0:21:27 > 0:21:29when you're working with the animals.

0:21:29 > 0:21:32We needed to actually stop thinking about the time

0:21:32 > 0:21:36and actually focus on taking care of the animals.

0:21:36 > 0:21:39And it's animals that Tommy is only thinking about now.

0:21:39 > 0:21:41Having lost most of his pet-buddy time

0:21:41 > 0:21:43he's now in a rush to be with his rats.

0:21:46 > 0:21:49Sorry, rats, you'll be out in a sec.

0:21:49 > 0:21:54Tommy is 11 years old and he lives with his mum, dad and two sisters.

0:21:54 > 0:21:56HE SINGS

0:21:56 > 0:21:59He likes musicals, mixing music and eating pizza.

0:22:00 > 0:22:03Why do you want a pet, Tommy?

0:22:03 > 0:22:07A few years ago, I had two Russian hamsters but sadly they died.

0:22:07 > 0:22:10So now what kind of pet would you like?

0:22:10 > 0:22:11I really want a pet rat.

0:22:12 > 0:22:16I used to have rats but I was a bit older than what Tommy is now

0:22:16 > 0:22:19and I don't think he's quite old enough to be responsible

0:22:19 > 0:22:20to look after one.

0:22:20 > 0:22:23I'm not too young. I'm responsible enough.

0:22:23 > 0:22:27But there is one thing you don't like, isn't there, Tommy?

0:22:27 > 0:22:30I'm not a massive fan of cleaning up the poo.

0:22:30 > 0:22:33But I know I've got to do it, if I really want the pet.

0:22:33 > 0:22:37I need to prove myself to Mum and especially Dad.

0:22:37 > 0:22:40- As he hates rats. - And he's not the only one...

0:22:40 > 0:22:42I don't like rats.

0:22:42 > 0:22:44I don't like rats either.

0:22:44 > 0:22:47So, what does Tommy need to prove at Pet School, Mum?

0:22:47 > 0:22:50He just needs to prove to me and his dad that he can be responsible

0:22:50 > 0:22:51looking after small animals.

0:22:51 > 0:22:53How much do you want a pet, Tommy?

0:22:53 > 0:22:57I really want a pet so much. I'm even prepared to use my own

0:22:57 > 0:22:59pocket money, to make sure it's looked after.

0:23:04 > 0:23:07Oi, come here, come here. Do you want to go...?

0:23:07 > 0:23:11I don't think the cage is supposed to be a rat climbing frame, Tommy.

0:23:11 > 0:23:14See you tomorrow, babies. See you tomorrow.

0:23:18 > 0:23:21Our Pet Heads have done amazing work today.

0:23:21 > 0:23:24So, as a treat I've arranged for a very special guest to visit us

0:23:24 > 0:23:25here at Pet School.

0:23:27 > 0:23:30Now, you know, a lot of the animals here at Pet School

0:23:30 > 0:23:32- are rescue animals, right?- Yeah.

0:23:32 > 0:23:34So, they've been looking for new owners as well.

0:23:34 > 0:23:37A little bit like, the kids looking for new parents in

0:23:37 > 0:23:38The Dumping Ground, OK,

0:23:38 > 0:23:42and that is a little clue to our celebrity guest for today.

0:23:43 > 0:23:46Now, you need to stay sort of calm, a little bit quiet

0:23:46 > 0:23:49because the animal coming in today, does get scared a little easily.

0:23:49 > 0:23:53But, please welcome Gus, AKA Noah Marullo.

0:23:53 > 0:23:55- APPLAUSE - Hi.- Hey.

0:23:55 > 0:23:57- Hi, mate. How you doing? - I'm good.

0:23:57 > 0:23:59Welcome to Pet School.

0:23:59 > 0:24:02Star of Tracy Beaker Returns and The Dumping Ground, Noah's

0:24:02 > 0:24:05character Gus Carmichael has Asperger's syndrome,

0:24:05 > 0:24:08and has to have everything in his day perfectly organised.

0:24:08 > 0:24:09HE GROANS

0:24:09 > 0:24:11Look at what you did to me?!

0:24:11 > 0:24:15It's bubble Wednesday and you went out without telling me.

0:24:15 > 0:24:16I'm so sorry, Gus, but wait...

0:24:16 > 0:24:19I couldn't cross the barber's off my list, so it gave me

0:24:19 > 0:24:21- and unscheduled 43 minutes!- I'm sorry.

0:24:21 > 0:24:25It would have been 16 but I wasted 17 waiting for you.

0:24:25 > 0:24:27So, I scheduled piano practice.

0:24:33 > 0:24:37- I've brought my cat, Leo.- Hey!

0:24:38 > 0:24:41Come and have a seat over here, and introduce us to Leo.

0:24:41 > 0:24:43- He's a cutie, isn't he?- Yeah.

0:24:44 > 0:24:47So, tell us about Leo, he's quite a unique cat, isn't he?

0:24:47 > 0:24:49Yeah. He's different to other cats.

0:24:49 > 0:24:52The vet said he's got something slightly wrong with him.

0:24:52 > 0:24:55Am I right thinking his condition's similar to cerebral palsy?

0:24:55 > 0:24:59- Yeah, yeah. - But for cats.- Yeah.- OK.

0:24:59 > 0:25:02He struggles to do things like jump up to high

0:25:02 > 0:25:04distances like normal cats.

0:25:04 > 0:25:08He needs a lot of work done for him so that he can be like a normal cat.

0:25:08 > 0:25:12Well, Pet Heads, have you got any questions for Noah about Leo?

0:25:12 > 0:25:15Is there a different kind of way that he's got to be treated

0:25:15 > 0:25:16to others?

0:25:16 > 0:25:19When he's got longer hair, we need to brush him.

0:25:19 > 0:25:22So that it doesn't get knotted up,

0:25:22 > 0:25:25and then he'll get uncomfortable, and he'll try to lick out

0:25:25 > 0:25:30the knots, but since he's not like a normal cat he won't do it that well.

0:25:30 > 0:25:33Is there a chance we can have a go, you can

0:25:33 > 0:25:35teach us how you sort of brush him today?

0:26:33 > 0:26:35What would you say, how do you organise it all?

0:26:35 > 0:26:39You got to manage it so that you do things before and after school.

0:26:39 > 0:26:42It's all about them loving you, and you loving them,

0:26:42 > 0:26:44and you sometimes have to do a little bit more for that.

0:26:44 > 0:26:47And Noah, thanks so much for coming, it's been awesome having you,

0:26:47 > 0:26:49and we'll give you a big,
