0:00:09 > 0:00:12means our pet heads have just got one week left to try
0:00:12 > 0:00:15and prove they are responsible enough to have a pet of their own.
0:00:15 > 0:00:18And let's be honest, some have got more work to do than others.
0:00:18 > 0:00:21And just to keep them on their toes, we've got
0:00:21 > 0:00:23a few surprises lined up as well.
0:00:24 > 0:00:27Nine pet crazy kids...
0:00:27 > 0:00:30- I'd like to have a dog - I'd really like a rabbit.
0:00:30 > 0:00:32I really want a pet rat.
0:00:32 > 0:00:35..101 animals needing care and attention...
0:00:38 > 0:00:40Two incredible weeks.
0:00:42 > 0:00:44But have our pet heads got the animal know how...
0:00:44 > 0:00:47Eurgh, they pooed, eurgh.
0:00:47 > 0:00:50..to persuade their parents they've got what it takes,
0:00:50 > 0:00:52to have a pet of their very own?
0:00:52 > 0:00:55Has she proved to you she can be a responsible pet owner?
0:00:55 > 0:00:56Is she getting a pet?
0:01:16 > 0:01:19Previously on Pet School. Ananya buddied with her bunnies...
0:01:19 > 0:01:21Yes!
0:01:21 > 0:01:25..and Lauren cracked a smile over her chickens.
0:01:25 > 0:01:29Coming up today - pet practice turns wet practice in a fishy task.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31Oh, no.
0:01:31 > 0:01:34And Tommy and William get in a furry feud.
0:01:34 > 0:01:37I just think you're trying to get out of the dirty work, personally.
0:01:37 > 0:01:38No, I'm not actually.
0:01:45 > 0:01:49Time for morning assembly. Good morning, gang.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51ALL: Morning!
0:01:51 > 0:01:54Hello. Are we still celebrating after yesterday's success?
0:01:54 > 0:01:55ALL: Yes.
0:01:55 > 0:01:58All three groups did their pet practice Yeah?
0:01:58 > 0:02:00It was huge. Today's the last day of the first week.
0:02:00 > 0:02:03- ALL: Awww. - It's going quick, yeah?
0:02:03 > 0:02:06And we know all three groups can do it so we've got to keep it up.
0:02:06 > 0:02:09- So shall we put you in your groups? - ALL: Yes.
0:02:09 > 0:02:10Awesome. Group 1, then...
0:02:10 > 0:02:14Ananya, Sam, Thomas.
0:02:14 > 0:02:17- You are with the rabbits. - Yes!
0:02:17 > 0:02:18Yes, result.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20Group 2,
0:02:20 > 0:02:25William, Lauren and Tommy, you are with the hamsters.
0:02:25 > 0:02:29- Yes!- Big yes from you, less of a yes from you.
0:02:29 > 0:02:32- Don't like rodents. - You don't like rodents. Why not?
0:02:32 > 0:02:35- They're just dirty. - OK, all right.
0:02:35 > 0:02:36Group 3,
0:02:36 > 0:02:41Chloe, Faramaz and Courtney, you're going
0:02:41 > 0:02:42to be with the fish today.
0:02:42 > 0:02:45Oh, really? You can't do anything with the fish.
0:02:45 > 0:02:47You stick some food in the bowl and that's it.
0:02:47 > 0:02:49There's some kind of exotic fish in there,
0:02:49 > 0:02:53they've got some different rules. Another chance to prove yourself.
0:02:53 > 0:02:56You've got to make sure you complete the task properly
0:02:56 > 0:02:57and within the allotted time.
0:02:57 > 0:03:00Today you won't miss time with your pet buddies
0:03:00 > 0:03:04- but you are going to miss out on a special visitor coming later.- Again?
0:03:04 > 0:03:06Yes, again.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09And it's a good one so make sure you do it properly.
0:03:09 > 0:03:12Your animals are waiting, off you go. Go see them. See ya later, bye.
0:03:19 > 0:03:20Effy.
0:03:20 > 0:03:23By now our pet heads should be pretty well practised,
0:03:23 > 0:03:24in, well, pet practice.
0:03:24 > 0:03:28They've only got one more week to wait to find out if they've done
0:03:28 > 0:03:31enough to persuade their parents to get them a pet of their own.
0:03:31 > 0:03:34Yesterday, they did really well. All three groups passed.
0:03:34 > 0:03:36What do you reckon today, Effy?
0:03:36 > 0:03:38EFFY MEOWS
0:03:38 > 0:03:40No idea what she said.
0:03:40 > 0:03:43The first group to wade into pet practice are the fish team.
0:03:43 > 0:03:47But things are off to a bit of a slow start.
0:03:47 > 0:03:49Courtney, I think we need to get started.
0:03:49 > 0:03:51- OK, right.- Reading it's not going to help.
0:03:51 > 0:03:53- We have to open it up.- Oh, hello.
0:03:53 > 0:03:55Today, their tasks will be to pump out 20
0:03:55 > 0:03:57percent of the water in the tank,
0:03:57 > 0:03:59clean the water, put it back in the tank
0:03:59 > 0:04:01and feed the fish.
0:04:01 > 0:04:02Courtney is the team leader
0:04:02 > 0:04:05and they have 45 minutes to complete their tasks.
0:04:05 > 0:04:07We've got to put this in, haven't we?
0:04:07 > 0:04:10Or they could take 45 minutes to figure out how the hand pump works.
0:04:10 > 0:04:12- Go, press it.- I am.
0:04:12 > 0:04:14Nothing is coming out.
0:04:14 > 0:04:16- I don't get this. - It's not working.
0:04:16 > 0:04:18Wait. Let me try, let me try, let me try.
0:04:18 > 0:04:20This is not working for us at all.
0:04:20 > 0:04:23- Pet heads, how we doing? - Failing.- Not good.
0:04:23 > 0:04:26No, you look a bit defeated already. What's the problem?
0:04:26 > 0:04:27The pipe won't work.
0:04:27 > 0:04:30How about reset, right? Get everything out,
0:04:30 > 0:04:31start the whole thing again.
0:04:31 > 0:04:33Follow it completely through from the beginning.
0:04:33 > 0:04:35Let's do it properly. So, one.
0:04:35 > 0:04:39"Hang and bend the short tube over the side of the tank."
0:04:39 > 0:04:41OK, chuck it in.
0:04:41 > 0:04:43Put that in there.
0:04:43 > 0:04:45Ah, OK. Step 2, Faramaz.
0:04:45 > 0:04:47"Place the long tube in a bucket.
0:04:47 > 0:04:50"Make sure the bucket is lower down than the tank.
0:04:50 > 0:04:52- "Change the tap to the on position..."- Yeah.
0:04:52 > 0:04:54"..and squeeze the blue pump,
0:04:54 > 0:04:57"which will pump the dirty water in the bucket."
0:04:57 > 0:04:59- Something's happening. - Ah, yes.
0:04:59 > 0:05:03Oh, breakthrough, guys. Courtney, you're leader.
0:05:03 > 0:05:05- Yeah.- Get pumping.
0:05:05 > 0:05:07So with the fish team all pumped up,
0:05:07 > 0:05:11over in the furries room some team members seem a bit deflated.
0:05:11 > 0:05:15I don't really like rodents. I just think they're a bit...
0:05:15 > 0:05:18- pointless. - They're not pointless.
0:05:18 > 0:05:20I think reptiles are pointless.
0:05:20 > 0:05:24But other people think that they're the best pets in the world.
0:05:24 > 0:05:27Like William.
0:05:27 > 0:05:29Awkward.
0:05:29 > 0:05:33Straight to the clipboard and then we'll find out what we need to do.
0:05:33 > 0:05:36The teams tasks are to clean out Patch's cage
0:05:36 > 0:05:39and feed Ziggy some treats.
0:05:39 > 0:05:41- I can't see them.- Whoa, careful.
0:05:41 > 0:05:44Guys, he's coming out. I don't know how to get him in.
0:05:44 > 0:05:47- I'll do it, I'll do it. - They're off to a good start.
0:05:47 > 0:05:49With Patch the Syrian hamster out, Lauren
0:05:49 > 0:05:52and William can get cracking on the cleaning.
0:05:52 > 0:05:54OK, right. So first we're going to need a plastic bag
0:05:54 > 0:05:56to put all the rubbish in.
0:05:56 > 0:05:59While Tommy is busy moving Ziggy into a carrier.
0:05:59 > 0:06:01But why?
0:06:01 > 0:06:05Now I've got the hamster in its cage
0:06:05 > 0:06:08it's going to be a bit easier to keep under control.
0:06:08 > 0:06:10Your not suppose to clean that out by the way.
0:06:10 > 0:06:13- We're not suppose to clean it out. - What?- That out.- No.
0:06:14 > 0:06:18I'm doing it so it's a bit easier to feed him treats.
0:06:18 > 0:06:21Right, I guess that clears that up.
0:06:21 > 0:06:23HE COUGHS
0:06:23 > 0:06:25Oh, that absolutely honks.
0:06:25 > 0:06:27Come on, baby.
0:06:27 > 0:06:29It's funny how we're doing all the hard work
0:06:29 > 0:06:32and he's just feeding it.
0:06:32 > 0:06:33And he's team leader as well.
0:06:33 > 0:06:35Meanwhile, over at the feed room,
0:06:35 > 0:06:38the bunny team are ready to hop to it.
0:06:38 > 0:06:41What I'll do is if I get one out and then I'm going to need
0:06:41 > 0:06:44one of you to hold her on the table when I'm ready, OK?
0:06:46 > 0:06:49Today, their tasks will be to give the rabbits a pet care check
0:06:49 > 0:06:51and to trim their nails.
0:06:51 > 0:06:54With this finger and this thumb I'm just going to gently lift up
0:06:54 > 0:06:57her cheeks like this and you'll be able to have a look
0:06:57 > 0:06:58and see the front teeth.
0:06:58 > 0:07:01- Lift them quite up. Don't be afraid to do it.- Oh, yeah.
0:07:01 > 0:07:04Now, what do you think? What are they looking like?
0:07:04 > 0:07:07They're all straight.
0:07:07 > 0:07:09They're white and a bit yellow.
0:07:09 > 0:07:12So are we confident the teeth with Freckles are looking good?
0:07:12 > 0:07:13- Yes.- Yeah?
0:07:13 > 0:07:16So now it's time for the team to try on their own
0:07:16 > 0:07:20and this time, Custard is the guinea pig. I mean rabbit.
0:07:20 > 0:07:24Yup, that eye looks OK. Happy with the other eye?
0:07:24 > 0:07:26Yeah, that eye looks OK.
0:07:26 > 0:07:30- So is there any bumps in the skin? - No.- That's the spine.
0:07:30 > 0:07:34- This is the spine.- Amazing work, Ananya! Incredible progress.
0:07:34 > 0:07:37And to think you used to be scared to go near rabbits.
0:07:37 > 0:07:40- Right, so...- So now it's nails.
0:07:40 > 0:07:43Thomas, when you go to do it, hold the foot with one hand.
0:07:43 > 0:07:46Now you need to leave a little bit of the blood vessel here
0:07:46 > 0:07:48so only just take the tip off for me.
0:07:48 > 0:07:49Open them up.
0:07:50 > 0:07:54Yeah, about there, perfect. Clip. That's perfect, well done.
0:07:54 > 0:07:56Good job, pet heads.
0:07:56 > 0:07:59Over at the hamsters, Tommy's also doing a good job.
0:07:59 > 0:08:01Of giving orders.
0:08:01 > 0:08:04We need to put some soil pots in there.
0:08:04 > 0:08:07William, you need to get it all out.
0:08:07 > 0:08:11- There's some poo in there. - Still, get it out.
0:08:11 > 0:08:13We need a deeper level than that.
0:08:13 > 0:08:16But he's not so good at following instructions.
0:08:16 > 0:08:19I need to give both hamsters a health check.
0:08:19 > 0:08:21- Did it say that? - It says in the book.
0:08:21 > 0:08:23But it doesn't say on the clip board.
0:08:23 > 0:08:25Yeah, but when you do your weekly clean out,
0:08:25 > 0:08:27you need to give them a health check.
0:08:27 > 0:08:29Me and Lauren were working really hard.
0:08:29 > 0:08:31And then Tommy was just going off doing his own thing.
0:08:31 > 0:08:34Feeding it and giving it health checks it doesn't need.
0:08:34 > 0:08:37Doing extra health checks is great
0:08:37 > 0:08:39but have the hamsters had their treats yet?
0:08:39 > 0:08:41- Put the hamster in first. - All right.
0:08:46 > 0:08:48Finished.
0:08:48 > 0:08:50Back in the fish room the pump is working.
0:08:50 > 0:08:52Ah I'm doing it like a boss.
0:08:53 > 0:08:57- Oh wait, no wait, pull it.- Or is it?
0:08:57 > 0:09:00I just had it again. And now it's gone.
0:09:00 > 0:09:05- Ah I give up, you know I give up. - Should I squeeze?
0:09:05 > 0:09:08Sounds like somebody's being sick. It's disgusting.
0:09:09 > 0:09:13- I know how to do it!- Yay.- To do it!
0:09:13 > 0:09:18- Right, nobody change anything. - Success, finally.
0:09:18 > 0:09:22But with all the delays the clock is seriously ticking.
0:09:22 > 0:09:24Right it needs to stop now, I'm not joking.
0:09:24 > 0:09:27But the waters coming, you need to pull the whole tube out.
0:09:27 > 0:09:30- Oh, no.- Look what you just did! I told you.
0:09:30 > 0:09:34- Pull the tube out.- I did. There.
0:09:34 > 0:09:36Empty that.
0:09:36 > 0:09:38It's too heavy.
0:09:38 > 0:09:41- Oh shoot.- Oh, no.
0:09:41 > 0:09:43Right.
0:09:43 > 0:09:45And the team is starting to feel the pressure.
0:09:45 > 0:09:47You have, like, five seconds left.
0:09:47 > 0:09:50- Yeah, we'll probably have enough time. Just about.- OK.
0:09:50 > 0:09:52The water conditioner is going in.
0:09:52 > 0:09:54And now they just have to get the clean, conditioned
0:09:54 > 0:09:57water into the tank.
0:09:57 > 0:09:58Oh, no!
0:09:58 > 0:10:01Or on to the floor.
0:10:01 > 0:10:03You ruined a whole set of clothes.
0:10:03 > 0:10:05Oh, sorry.
0:10:05 > 0:10:08While the fish task seems to be turning into a bit of a damp squib,
0:10:08 > 0:10:10over with the rabbits
0:10:10 > 0:10:14the bunnies have had a full MOT and are ready to go back to their house.
0:10:14 > 0:10:17Tiny problem, they've almost run out of time.
0:10:17 > 0:10:19Team, come on, less than a minute to go.
0:10:19 > 0:10:21Go, go, go, go, go.
0:10:21 > 0:10:23Time is really ticking.
0:10:24 > 0:10:27Carefully. Jump in, Ananya.
0:10:27 > 0:10:2910 seconds.
0:10:29 > 0:10:32- He's out, OK Custard's out. - Yeah, the second one is out.
0:10:36 > 0:10:40Time flies when you're having fun and that is time on pet practice.
0:10:40 > 0:10:44But the question is, have our pet heads completed their pet
0:10:44 > 0:10:47practices perfectly so they can meet our special visitor later?
0:10:47 > 0:10:50Or will they have to come back to complete their tasks?
0:10:50 > 0:10:54Coming up, Thomas gets in a tiz over the mystery guest...
0:10:55 > 0:10:58..and the pet heads dive head first into pet life.
0:11:03 > 0:11:06So pet practice is over, let's find out how they did.
0:11:06 > 0:11:09The bunny team managed to complete the pet care checks
0:11:09 > 0:11:12and trim the rabbits' nails.
0:11:12 > 0:11:15So they've passed and are waiting to meet the mystery guest.
0:11:15 > 0:11:17The fish team, however, made a bit of a splash.
0:11:17 > 0:11:21- But not in a good way. - You guys have...
0:11:21 > 0:11:24You failed. There's like half the tank of water on the floor here.
0:11:24 > 0:11:26And we've got water all down the side of the tank.
0:11:26 > 0:11:28We've got it all around the front here.
0:11:28 > 0:11:32So that's one task failed. And there's more bad news.
0:11:32 > 0:11:33We haven't got a lid on there.
0:11:33 > 0:11:37Now the downfall of not putting lids on, is fish can actually jump out.
0:11:37 > 0:11:42Fish could be on the floor, fish could be dead very, very quickly.
0:11:42 > 0:11:44So it's not good news for the fish team.
0:11:44 > 0:11:47And it's time for the furries team to find out how they did.
0:11:47 > 0:11:51We have a fail again. OK? But it's not a major fail.
0:11:51 > 0:11:53So we can get it done nice and quick.
0:11:53 > 0:11:54So, we've got a couple of points to raise.
0:11:54 > 0:11:57Has this water been changed today?
0:11:57 > 0:12:00When you're doing a full clean every day the animals should be
0:12:00 > 0:12:03obviously having their water changed. We have treats in a bowl.
0:12:03 > 0:12:06What have we learned about giving hamsters food?
0:12:06 > 0:12:08- Scatter it. - Why are we scattering it?
0:12:08 > 0:12:11- So they've actually got to find it. - Exactly.
0:12:11 > 0:12:12Last point, we've got
0:12:12 > 0:12:15a little bit of mess going on so let's just get that all tidied up
0:12:15 > 0:12:18into your corner so it's all neat and tucked away again.
0:12:18 > 0:12:20OK, so crack on, should only take a few minutes.
0:12:20 > 0:12:24While both fish and furries scramble to finish their pet practice tasks
0:12:24 > 0:12:27Ananya, Thomas and Sam are ready to meet the mystery guest.
0:12:27 > 0:12:30Now, yesterday, after such success,
0:12:30 > 0:12:33all the groups completed their tasks.
0:12:33 > 0:12:35Today, only one group did. That was you guys.
0:12:35 > 0:12:38So you've earned yourself a special little treat.
0:12:38 > 0:12:41Say hello to Gary
0:12:41 > 0:12:44and Winston the boa constrictor.
0:12:44 > 0:12:46- Hello, pet heads.- Hi.
0:12:46 > 0:12:48- Do you like my new scarf?- Yeah.
0:12:48 > 0:12:52So this is Winston and he is a common boa or a boa constrictor.
0:12:52 > 0:12:55He is about four years old, what do you think?
0:12:55 > 0:12:58- He's cool. - Why you standing so far away then?
0:12:58 > 0:13:02- Swap.- OK. Thomas?- Awesome.
0:13:02 > 0:13:05Yeah? Pretty cool, right. Any questions, pet heads?
0:13:05 > 0:13:08How long can this sort of, type of snake get to?
0:13:08 > 0:13:11Boa constrictors will grow up to four metres.
0:13:11 > 0:13:15They come from all over South America and also Central America.
0:13:15 > 0:13:18And you'll find that in different parts they reach different sizes.
0:13:18 > 0:13:21Mainly because of temperature and availability of food.
0:13:21 > 0:13:23So you do get some boas which will only reach
0:13:23 > 0:13:25a metre to a metre and a half.
0:13:25 > 0:13:28Erm, how is he like to feel?
0:13:28 > 0:13:30- Do you want to have a feel?- Yeah.
0:13:30 > 0:13:33Awesome.
0:13:33 > 0:13:34You can do better than that.
0:13:34 > 0:13:37- Go on, get stuck in.- Get a whole hand on there.
0:13:37 > 0:13:38Good work.
0:13:38 > 0:13:40'So while Ananya cosies up to her new boa buddy,
0:13:40 > 0:13:42'The furries team are rushing to
0:13:42 > 0:13:44'correct their pet practice mistakes.'
0:13:44 > 0:13:47I'm just pouring the water for the hamster.
0:13:48 > 0:13:52It looks like hamster care may be more work than this team thought.
0:13:52 > 0:13:54When they're not at pet school,
0:13:54 > 0:13:57Patch and Ziggy live at a rescue centre. Tell us more, Marie.
0:13:57 > 0:14:00Patch and Ziggy came in as their owner was poorly
0:14:00 > 0:14:02and was unable to care for them any longer.
0:14:02 > 0:14:04They were in quite good condition,
0:14:04 > 0:14:07however, their accommodation was quite dirty.
0:14:07 > 0:14:10So they were quite happy to settle back in with us.
0:14:10 > 0:14:14Patch is a happy hamster, he loves to be handled and come out of his cage.
0:14:14 > 0:14:18Ziggy is completely different, he doesn't like to be handled
0:14:18 > 0:14:20and he is a little bit worried about humans.
0:14:20 > 0:14:22So the pet heads are really going to have to be
0:14:22 > 0:14:23nice and gentle with Ziggy.
0:14:23 > 0:14:26Patch and Ziggy bring the cute factor to pet school
0:14:26 > 0:14:29and I'm sure the children are going to find them adorable.
0:14:30 > 0:14:32Bin bag away, water in.
0:14:35 > 0:14:38- You're done. Woo. - That was kind of a fail.
0:14:38 > 0:14:41Oh, come on then, Yeah. Well done, guys.
0:14:41 > 0:14:42Good job, pet heads.
0:14:42 > 0:14:47And speaking of jobs, Gary has a few tasks for Ananya, Sam and Thomas.
0:14:47 > 0:14:49I think what we're going to do
0:14:49 > 0:14:53with the help of you guys is measure how long Winston is.
0:14:53 > 0:14:55So we're going to cut a length of string.
0:14:55 > 0:14:58Ananya, do you want to hold him at one end.
0:14:58 > 0:15:00- You got that?- Yes.
0:15:00 > 0:15:01Excellent, well done.
0:15:01 > 0:15:04Put your finger on the tip where the nose is
0:15:04 > 0:15:07and hold the string, yeah. So hold the string.
0:15:07 > 0:15:10And then you need to use the string and follow along the body.
0:15:11 > 0:15:15Then you pinch the string where the tail finishes.
0:15:15 > 0:15:17So if you want to cut the string at your end.
0:15:17 > 0:15:20- Try not to...- Watch your fingers. Done.
0:15:20 > 0:15:23Excellent. And now using the measuring tape.
0:15:23 > 0:15:24So, 202.
0:15:24 > 0:15:27202, so we're looking at about two metres.
0:15:27 > 0:15:29What else we can do is we can weigh him.
0:15:29 > 0:15:33We've got a bag here so we'll pop, we'll pop Winston in.
0:15:33 > 0:15:35Slide him up
0:15:40 > 0:15:43- What's it saying?- 5.95.
0:15:43 > 0:15:455.95. Does that sound healthy, Gary?
0:15:45 > 0:15:49So that's a, that's a lovely weight. He's lovely and healthy.
0:15:49 > 0:15:52So that's Winston weighed and measured.
0:15:52 > 0:15:53Meanwhile, back at the fish room.
0:15:53 > 0:15:56The team aren't quite off the hook yet.
0:15:56 > 0:15:57Put the top on quick.
0:15:57 > 0:15:59That one would take seconds to do.
0:16:00 > 0:16:03So do you think any of you could become fish experts?
0:16:03 > 0:16:06ALL: No.
0:16:06 > 0:16:09- Are we done?- Yeah.- Thank you. - Welcome.
0:16:09 > 0:16:12- I knew we were going to fail. - Nice catch, fish team.
0:16:12 > 0:16:13Back at the reptile's room,
0:16:13 > 0:16:17there's one more challenge in store for the team.
0:16:17 > 0:16:20So, if you're not scared, who wants to hold him?
0:16:20 > 0:16:21On their shoulders.
0:16:21 > 0:16:24Your hand started going up, I'm going to take that,
0:16:24 > 0:16:27- Thomas, you're up first. - Excellent, Thomas.
0:16:27 > 0:16:29- Yes.- OK.
0:16:30 > 0:16:34- He wants to give you a kiss. - Yep. thanks.
0:16:34 > 0:16:37I feel really happy right now.
0:16:37 > 0:16:39Ananya, you're up next.
0:16:42 > 0:16:46- There we go, just slow movements, Ananya.- Oh, my God.- You all right?
0:16:46 > 0:16:48- It's all right, it's OK. - Yeah.
0:16:48 > 0:16:51Just going to lay it down. Stand up straight.
0:16:51 > 0:16:54- It's all right, it's OK, it's OK. - I got it.- It's really heavy.
0:16:54 > 0:16:58- Well done.- Ananya, you are holding a boa constrictor.
0:16:58 > 0:17:00What do you think your mum's going to say?
0:17:00 > 0:17:03Well, she's going to be proud cos she knows I'm not really
0:17:03 > 0:17:05comfortable around snakes.
0:17:05 > 0:17:08- I wouldn't know now, that's amazing. Well done.- Yeah.- Sam.- Yeah.
0:17:08 > 0:17:13- Step up.- That's it, use your hand there.- It's not that heavy.
0:17:13 > 0:17:16- Yeah, it's not. - Maybe you're just very strong, Sam.
0:17:19 > 0:17:22Hello, Winston. All right, man?
0:17:22 > 0:17:23What's going on?
0:17:25 > 0:17:28Cool. Great.
0:17:28 > 0:17:32- Erm...- How you doing?- He wants to take it off.
0:17:32 > 0:17:33Yeah, I mean it's fine, isn't it?
0:17:33 > 0:17:36It's... I don't want it forever, sure but...
0:17:36 > 0:17:38It's fine till he moves.
0:17:38 > 0:17:42And then, then all I'm thinking is, "What are you doing?
0:17:42 > 0:17:45"What are you up to?" All right, all yours, Gary. I'll give him back.
0:17:45 > 0:17:48Well, thanks so much for coming in, that was pretty awesome, right?
0:17:48 > 0:17:49- ALL: Yeah.- Yes.
0:17:57 > 0:18:00Most of the animals at Pet School are rescue animals.
0:18:00 > 0:18:03So pet life is how we help our pet heads learn not to make
0:18:03 > 0:18:07the same mistakes their previous owners did.
0:18:07 > 0:18:09Bring on the mice.
0:18:09 > 0:18:11All right, team, looking lovely.
0:18:11 > 0:18:13ALL: Eurgh!
0:18:13 > 0:18:15- Not looking so lovely, right? - ALL: No!
0:18:15 > 0:18:19So I want you to imagine that you're a rodent who's got a bad owner.
0:18:19 > 0:18:21They haven't cleaned out your cage at all.
0:18:21 > 0:18:24They've left all sorts of horrible stuff in there.
0:18:24 > 0:18:28Your challenge is to get in there and find some bedding,
0:18:28 > 0:18:30some food and a toy.
0:18:30 > 0:18:34Three, two, one, off you scuttle. Go, go, go, go, go!
0:18:34 > 0:18:36Go on, get foraging!
0:18:36 > 0:18:39Start digging!
0:18:39 > 0:18:41You've got the strawberry, good news.
0:18:41 > 0:18:44'So Chloe's found the first item, a bit of food.
0:18:44 > 0:18:47'But if food is kept in a mucky cage it'll get mixed up in a pet's
0:18:47 > 0:18:50'poo and this can lead to serious health problems.'
0:18:50 > 0:18:52Get digging!
0:18:52 > 0:18:54Yes, you got the ball, Ananya, good work.
0:18:54 > 0:18:57'Can you imagine, being in your bedroom trying to find
0:18:57 > 0:19:00'your favourite toys and it's covered in all this muck and dirt?
0:19:00 > 0:19:03'You're just not going to have a good, fun time'
0:19:03 > 0:19:04Just the pillow to go.
0:19:08 > 0:19:10Oh, William.
0:19:10 > 0:19:11Good job, buddy.
0:19:13 > 0:19:16'If that's what someone's cage is like then that's pretty dirty.
0:19:16 > 0:19:20'The message is you should always clean out your pets.
0:19:20 > 0:19:23'Some of the animals here they've probably been through that and
0:19:23 > 0:19:28'we just found out what it was like for them to be in that situation.'
0:19:28 > 0:19:31Look how mucky and disgusting you are.
0:19:31 > 0:19:33Mostly you, William.
0:19:33 > 0:19:36- Go and get yourselves cleaned up. See you later.- Cheerio.
0:19:36 > 0:19:38'And if you want to find out more about
0:19:38 > 0:19:39'keeping your pets happy'
0:19:39 > 0:19:43and healthy head over to the CBBC website where you'll find
0:19:43 > 0:19:45lots of helpful animal fact sheets.
0:19:50 > 0:19:52It's the last pet buddy session of the week
0:19:52 > 0:19:56and this lot want to make the most of their time together.
0:19:56 > 0:19:57You all right, baby?
0:19:59 > 0:20:00Come on, Clark.
0:20:00 > 0:20:03Courtney's decided to spend her session with Clark,
0:20:03 > 0:20:04polishing up a few tricks.
0:20:05 > 0:20:08Whoa. That's better.
0:20:08 > 0:20:12Over, roll over Clark. Come on, Clark.
0:20:12 > 0:20:14Well, someone is rolling over.
0:20:14 > 0:20:17Roll over.
0:20:17 > 0:20:19Come on, Clark. No. Right.
0:20:19 > 0:20:21He's not brilliant at fetch either.
0:20:21 > 0:20:24What's this? Go get it.
0:20:24 > 0:20:25High-five.
0:20:25 > 0:20:28- Yay.- Ah, this is more like it.
0:20:28 > 0:20:32- Round.- All right so Clark's a bit of a clever clogs.
0:20:32 > 0:20:35When he's not at pet school, he lives with his owner Liv.
0:20:37 > 0:20:40Clark's a two-year-old Bernese mountain dog and I got him
0:20:40 > 0:20:41when he was a puppy.
0:20:41 > 0:20:44The reason that I chose him was because he was just big,
0:20:44 > 0:20:46soppy and gentle.
0:20:46 > 0:20:48Clark is named after Superman.
0:20:48 > 0:20:51He's a super dog and he was born in Kent.
0:20:51 > 0:20:53So he's Clark of Kent.
0:20:53 > 0:20:57Clark's just qualified as a PAT dog which stands for Pets As Therapy.
0:20:57 > 0:21:00Which means he's basically qualified to go into special needs
0:21:00 > 0:21:04schools, nursing homes and hospitals to provide therapy.
0:21:04 > 0:21:08Allowing the patients or the kids to get hands-on with him,
0:21:08 > 0:21:12cuddle him, pet him and feed him the occasional treat.
0:21:12 > 0:21:14And it basically just brightens up their day.
0:21:16 > 0:21:18With Clark being at Pet School,
0:21:18 > 0:21:23it's going to show the pet heads how to really look after a big dog.
0:21:23 > 0:21:26But if they give him plenty of treats and lots of walks,
0:21:26 > 0:21:27they should all get on great.
0:21:30 > 0:21:31Go get it, Clark.
0:21:31 > 0:21:35And speaking of treats, Courtney has a bit of a surprise for Clark.
0:21:35 > 0:21:39It will probably make him - Clark - do a poo but even if he does
0:21:39 > 0:21:42I don't mind picking it up and just bringing it to the bin.
0:21:42 > 0:21:45Oh, that's so, special Courtney.
0:21:45 > 0:21:47Well, one person who isn't getting all lovey-dovey
0:21:47 > 0:21:49with his buddies today is Thomas.
0:21:49 > 0:21:54Well I'm going to kind of clean out and try
0:21:54 > 0:21:57and get the guinea pigs into the garden.
0:21:57 > 0:22:00So then I'm going shut the door so they can't come in.
0:22:00 > 0:22:04That's not very sociable. Still, Thomas has come a long way.
0:22:04 > 0:22:07Earlier in the week he was finding it a lot harder to get
0:22:07 > 0:22:08a handle on his buddies.
0:22:10 > 0:22:14To look after more than one pet I've learned to take your time
0:22:14 > 0:22:17and to be slowly around more than one animal.
0:22:17 > 0:22:20Because they get frightened very quickly.
0:22:20 > 0:22:22And Thomas has also learned a little something
0:22:22 > 0:22:23about pampering the piggies.
0:22:23 > 0:22:26These are their kind of treat bags
0:22:26 > 0:22:30so I'm going to put some of the treats inside for them.
0:22:32 > 0:22:35I did a few jobs that I thought I wouldn't get done
0:22:35 > 0:22:38so I think they will be a bit pleased with me.
0:22:38 > 0:22:41I'm sure they're pleased with you, Thomas.
0:22:41 > 0:22:43Less pleased are the goats.
0:22:43 > 0:22:46After four days together and some pretty mixed feelings, Chloe
0:22:46 > 0:22:50is determined to start things off on the right foot today. Sorry, hoof.
0:22:50 > 0:22:51By taking them for a nice walk.
0:22:54 > 0:22:55Argh.
0:22:55 > 0:22:58Yeah, maybe I'm not such a goat herder.
0:22:58 > 0:23:00I don't know about that, Chloe.
0:23:01 > 0:23:05I didn't know he could climb. Step out, step out.
0:23:05 > 0:23:10Sweetie, not helping. Hey, stop, argh.
0:23:10 > 0:23:13This is worse than walking a dog.
0:23:13 > 0:23:16They're like kids at a theme park.
0:23:16 > 0:23:19Actually, Chloe, they're literally kids in a field.
0:23:19 > 0:23:21Oh, oh, no!
0:23:21 > 0:23:24Meanwhile, over at the chickens,
0:23:24 > 0:23:27Lauren's still not too sure what to expect with her feathered friends.
0:23:27 > 0:23:31Today is chicken bravery day, I'm feeling it.
0:23:31 > 0:23:33It's been an emotional week for Lauren.
0:23:33 > 0:23:36After making some good progress early on,
0:23:36 > 0:23:39a nasty cockerel encounter set her right back to square one.
0:23:39 > 0:23:41But with Tommy's help yesterday,
0:23:41 > 0:23:44- Lauren has started to get back on track.- Come walk with me.
0:23:44 > 0:23:47- I'm really scared, I can't.- Try and loosen up a little bit
0:23:47 > 0:23:51because you're getting yourself really worked up about it again.
0:23:51 > 0:23:54So let's talk through, what happened with the chicken yesterday?
0:23:55 > 0:23:59I had one in with me yesterday and it didn't come near me.
0:23:59 > 0:24:03Do you want to have a little stroke of her again how you did yesterday?
0:24:03 > 0:24:06- Hello.- Nice, isn't it?
0:24:06 > 0:24:08Yeah?
0:24:08 > 0:24:10Lauren really has done so well and we're really,
0:24:10 > 0:24:12really conscious that we don't want to try and push her.
0:24:12 > 0:24:14It's really on her terms
0:24:14 > 0:24:17and when Lauren feels ready to take each step.
0:24:17 > 0:24:19It will come but on her own terms.
0:24:19 > 0:24:21You have made such an amazing achievement, Lauren.
0:24:21 > 0:24:24You've come here really frightened of them,
0:24:24 > 0:24:26you've be able to do chicken agility,
0:24:26 > 0:24:28you've been able to sit down next to them in their cage
0:24:28 > 0:24:30And you've been able to have one roaming around
0:24:30 > 0:24:34and you've been able to stroke them. Yeah?
0:24:34 > 0:24:37And with another pet buddy session over, Marie, I think
0:24:37 > 0:24:40it's time for a bit of a catch up.
0:24:40 > 0:24:42We've got some decisions to make.
0:24:42 > 0:24:45Going to choose three people who we think worked really hard,
0:24:45 > 0:24:47impressed this week to give a little treat.
0:24:47 > 0:24:49I think she has done amazing this week.
0:24:49 > 0:24:52He's not the loudest of the group but consistent.
0:24:52 > 0:24:54Always does the job well. Reading that manual
0:24:54 > 0:24:57and looks after the animals really well as well.
0:24:57 > 0:24:59She's had some real highs and lows this week.
0:24:59 > 0:25:02- I think she generally just deserves it.- Happy with that?
0:25:02 > 0:25:05- Definitely, good choice.- Let's go and tell them. Let's go.- Let's do it.
0:25:08 > 0:25:11So, team, it's the end of the first week at Pet School.
0:25:11 > 0:25:13ALL: No!
0:25:13 > 0:25:16And now me and Marie, we've been having a bit of a chat.
0:25:16 > 0:25:21And we think three of you have done really, really, really well.
0:25:21 > 0:25:24So you're going to get a special little treat.
0:25:26 > 0:25:29Ananya, when you arrived you were really
0:25:29 > 0:25:32nervous around most of the animals pretty much, weren't you?
0:25:32 > 0:25:35- And then today tell us what's happened.- Well, the snake, erm...
0:25:35 > 0:25:37was the guest and I...
0:25:37 > 0:25:39I'm actually really scared of snakes.
0:25:39 > 0:25:41But I held it around my neck.
0:25:41 > 0:25:43- Yeah, a two-metre long boa constrictor.- Yeah.
0:25:43 > 0:25:45That's a pretty big turn around, isn't it?
0:25:45 > 0:25:47For the end of week one. Good work, well done you.
0:25:47 > 0:25:51So, Sam. I actually think this week you got really mucked in there
0:25:51 > 0:25:52you worked well as a team
0:25:52 > 0:25:55and I really think your actually starting to prove that
0:25:55 > 0:25:58you could be a really good pet owner. So, well done.
0:25:58 > 0:25:59- Thanks.- Good work, Sam.
0:25:59 > 0:26:01And...
0:26:01 > 0:26:03Lauren.
0:26:03 > 0:26:05You've had a pretty tough week, right?
0:26:05 > 0:26:07I didn't like my pet buddy at the start
0:26:07 > 0:26:10but had them in the agility course next to me.
