0:00:56 > 0:00:57Paramore!

0:00:59 > 0:01:03They are the pop punkers from America fronted by the feisty

0:01:03 > 0:01:05red-headed Hayley Williams.

0:01:19 > 0:01:23who has what it takes to win the ultimate prize in pop - the Ambo.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27There is only one way to win the Ambo,

0:01:27 > 0:01:31and that's by getting as many of my Ambo points as possible.

0:01:31 > 0:01:35I'll be dishing them out over three slamming rounds of pop-osity,

0:01:35 > 0:01:39where I meet the people who knew the stars back in the day,

0:01:39 > 0:01:42then I check out how hard they've been working

0:01:42 > 0:01:46and finally I scrutinise their style.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49All before the big moment.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01But seriously, who do you think is going to win?

0:02:01 > 0:02:02I mean, Jessie J has amazing fashion

0:02:02 > 0:02:05and Hayley from Paramore has great hair.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06And they can both sing.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08I really don't know.

0:02:08 > 0:02:12But there's only one way to find out, it's time for Pop Slam!

0:02:16 > 0:02:19Round One - Pop Potential.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22This is all about how our stars made it.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25# You make my head shake

0:02:25 > 0:02:27# I watch the glass break... #

0:02:27 > 0:02:30She may be a massive superstar nowadays,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33but back when Jessie J was just a gal called Jessica Cornish,

0:02:33 > 0:02:37she was right here, in Seven Kings, in Essex.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40# You treat me just like... #

0:02:40 > 0:02:44And way before Paramore was selling out stadiums all over the world,

0:02:44 > 0:02:46Hayley Williams and three of her friends were kicking back

0:02:46 > 0:02:49right here, in Franklin, Tennessee.

0:02:50 > 0:02:55So, how did Paramore and Jessie J become the megastars they are today?

0:02:55 > 0:02:57I'm going to find out. First up...

0:02:57 > 0:03:00# Like a shot of pure gold... #

0:03:00 > 0:03:01..Jessie J.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04# I think I'm about to explode. #

0:03:04 > 0:03:07This is the actual street that young Jessica grew up on,

0:03:07 > 0:03:09and this is the very house in which she lived.

0:03:09 > 0:03:13Now, I know it might just seem like a normal street in Essex,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16but this is the street that put Jessica Cornish on the road

0:03:16 > 0:03:18to becoming Jessie J.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20This is how Jessica made it big.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22# Oh-oh-oh-oh

0:03:22 > 0:03:26# Rock my world until the sunlight... #

0:03:26 > 0:03:31Jessie J first hit the charts in 2010 when she was 22 years old.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33# Dancing in the moonlight. #

0:03:33 > 0:03:35But it was 18 years earlier

0:03:35 > 0:03:37when she started her showbiz journey.

0:03:37 > 0:03:41When Jessica was just four years old, she joined the Wenn Stage

0:03:41 > 0:03:44School, which luckily for her, was just at the end of her street.

0:03:44 > 0:03:45Handy!

0:03:45 > 0:03:47These are the actual steps that Jessica would have

0:03:47 > 0:03:50walked to the place that taught her how to be a pop star.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53# Down like I'm a domino. #

0:03:53 > 0:03:56OK, Jessica might not have walked quite like that,

0:03:56 > 0:03:58but she did come here

0:03:58 > 0:04:02three to four nights a week to do lessons in drama, singing and dance.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04And I'm going to check it out.

0:04:04 > 0:04:08# Take me down like I'm a domino. #

0:04:08 > 0:04:11You're not going to believe this, but this is the actual room where

0:04:11 > 0:04:15Jessica first started to learn how to sing and perform.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17Hee-yah!

0:04:17 > 0:04:18Take it away, Jessica.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21# I can show you the world... #

0:04:21 > 0:04:24Hello! Who's that playing Aladdin?

0:04:24 > 0:04:29It's only Jessica during a Wenn Stage School performance.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32So, while I was hanging out at the school, I caught up with Ian,

0:04:32 > 0:04:35who actually used to teach her back in the day.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38- AMBERLEY SINGS:- # I can show you the world...

0:04:38 > 0:04:42# Shining, shimmering, splendid... #

0:04:42 > 0:04:46Eh? Eh? Who am I? Who am I?

0:04:46 > 0:04:47Jessica?

0:04:47 > 0:04:50Oh! Exactly! I'm Jessie J.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53Now, Ian, you're obviously the director of this place.

0:04:53 > 0:04:54Can you tell me anything about Jessie?

0:04:54 > 0:04:56What was she like back in the day?

0:04:56 > 0:05:00She was cheeky, bubbly, lippy.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03Just your average sort of run-of-the-mill kid, really.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06Did she have any super embarrassing moments when she was on stage?

0:05:06 > 0:05:11Uh... She was playing Brat in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down The Wind

0:05:11 > 0:05:13in the West End.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16She turned her back to the audience and got, unfortunately,

0:05:16 > 0:05:19too close to the orchestra pit

0:05:19 > 0:05:21and fell into the pit.

0:05:21 > 0:05:23- Was she OK?- She was.

0:05:23 > 0:05:25She did have to go to hospital just to be checked out.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28- What about the instruments, were they OK?- Well, no.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31Unfortunately, the second violinist didn't fare so well -

0:05:31 > 0:05:33his bow went through his hand.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36- No, it didn't!- It did.- Oh, no way!

0:05:36 > 0:05:39- That must have hurt! - I'm sure it did, yes.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42- Did the show go on? - It did after quite a break.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45And how do you feel knowing that one of your students is just out

0:05:45 > 0:05:48there and is a worldwide celebrity?

0:05:48 > 0:05:51I think really we're just immensely proud of her.

0:05:51 > 0:05:56Despite the odd accident, Jessica was riding high on stage.

0:05:56 > 0:06:00That's three Ambo points for getting an early start.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03However, offstage, life at her primary school wasn't so fun,

0:06:03 > 0:06:05as she often got picked on.

0:06:05 > 0:06:08# Mummy, they call me names They wouldn't let me play

0:06:08 > 0:06:10# I'd run home, sit and cry Almost every day... #

0:06:10 > 0:06:12But it was Jessica who had the last laugh,

0:06:12 > 0:06:15as the experience inspired this awesome pop song.

0:06:15 > 0:06:17# Oh, so you think you know me now. #

0:06:17 > 0:06:20Here's two Ambo points for not letting anyone

0:06:20 > 0:06:21get in the way of your dream.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23# I'm still rising I'm still rising

0:06:23 > 0:06:26# Yeah! So make your jokes, go for broke

0:06:26 > 0:06:28# Blow your smoke You're not alone

0:06:28 > 0:06:30# But who's laughing now?

0:06:30 > 0:06:32# But who's laughing now? #

0:06:32 > 0:06:36Jessica was finally on her way to super stardom.

0:06:36 > 0:06:39And when she was 15, her talents won her an award on a TV show

0:06:39 > 0:06:43that would change her life forever.

0:06:43 > 0:06:45The year's best young pop singer, Jessica Cornish.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51# Ooooh

0:06:51 > 0:06:54# Yes

0:06:54 > 0:06:58# You can reach me by railway... #

0:06:58 > 0:07:02To win a competition like that is an incredible achievement.

0:07:02 > 0:07:05And it just made her think, I can do anything.

0:07:05 > 0:07:07Maybe this is going to be my future.

0:07:07 > 0:07:11# With your mind... #

0:07:11 > 0:07:14Being a brilliant prodigy is awesome work.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17Take three Ambo points.

0:07:17 > 0:07:20And after that, there was no looking back for Jessica.

0:07:20 > 0:07:22# Everybody look to their left

0:07:22 > 0:07:25# Everybody look to their right

0:07:25 > 0:07:26# Can you feel that, yeah?

0:07:26 > 0:07:28# We're playing with love tonight... #

0:07:28 > 0:07:30We all know that Jessica made it.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33But it took five years of hard work before she landed

0:07:33 > 0:07:35her first record deal.

0:07:35 > 0:07:37And then she took the UK by storm.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40# Forget about the price tag... #

0:07:40 > 0:07:41And it was this song...

0:07:41 > 0:07:43- SHE SINGS:- Cha-ching, cha-ching!

0:07:43 > 0:07:45..that got to the top of the charts...

0:07:45 > 0:07:47- SHE SINGS:- Ba-bling, ba-bling!

0:07:47 > 0:07:50..in 19 countries. Which is like 19 countries.

0:07:51 > 0:07:54# It's not about the money, money, money

0:07:54 > 0:07:56# We don't need your money, money, money... #

0:07:56 > 0:07:59Jessica Cornish had finally become Jessie J.

0:07:59 > 0:08:01That's two bling, ba-bling

0:08:01 > 0:08:03Ambo points for making it.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05It's an excellent start for our Jessie.

0:08:05 > 0:08:09Meanwhile, 4,000 miles away, four kids from Tennessee

0:08:09 > 0:08:12were about to become one of the biggest bands in the world.

0:08:12 > 0:08:14- SHE SINGS:- Paramore!

0:08:14 > 0:08:17MUSIC: "Crush" by Paramore

0:08:17 > 0:08:21- # Crush, crush, crush - 1, 2, 3, 4

0:08:21 > 0:08:23# Nothing compares to... #

0:08:23 > 0:08:26Paramore are the band who brought punk to pop.

0:08:26 > 0:08:28# I was just counting on... #

0:08:28 > 0:08:31If you think they might be too rocked out for you then

0:08:31 > 0:08:34stick around, cos these guys have one amazing story.

0:08:34 > 0:08:38And it all starts here in the sleepy town of Franklin, Tennessee.

0:08:38 > 0:08:42With an unassuming teenager called Hayley Williams.

0:08:42 > 0:08:45# If you want to play it like a game

0:08:45 > 0:08:48# Well, come on, come on, let's play... #

0:08:48 > 0:08:50It's here where she met three guys who together became

0:08:50 > 0:08:53one of the biggest rock groups in the world.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56This is how Paramore turned into global megastars.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59# Nothing compares to

0:08:59 > 0:09:00# A quiet evening alone

0:09:00 > 0:09:02# Just the one-two

0:09:02 > 0:09:04# I was just counting on

0:09:04 > 0:09:06# That never happens... #

0:09:06 > 0:09:09I bet you're probably wondering, how did Paramore get together?

0:09:09 > 0:09:11Well, step one...

0:09:11 > 0:09:13Hayley replied to an ad looking for a singer in a band called

0:09:13 > 0:09:17The Factory, that's where she met the bassist, Jeremy.

0:09:17 > 0:09:18Step two...

0:09:18 > 0:09:21She came here at the weekends, to Franklin Classical School,

0:09:21 > 0:09:26and that's where she met Josh and Zac, and Paramore was formed,

0:09:26 > 0:09:28thank you very much. I'll be here all day.

0:09:31 > 0:09:36MUSIC: "That's What You Get" by Paramore

0:09:36 > 0:09:38So, Paramore had formed! Yay!

0:09:38 > 0:09:41The next step happened was to start gigging.

0:09:41 > 0:09:45And where better to begin that The End. Right here in Nashville.

0:09:45 > 0:09:47# Oh-oh

0:09:47 > 0:09:51# That's what you get when you let your heart win... #

0:09:51 > 0:09:54The End is Nashville's premier rock venue.

0:09:54 > 0:09:58And Paramore played here when Hayley was only 15 years old.

0:09:58 > 0:10:00And I'm meeting the band's friend, Randall,

0:10:00 > 0:10:02who was here at the very first gig.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05Paint a picture for us, cos it was right here on this stage.

0:10:05 > 0:10:07What was it like? Was it packed with people?

0:10:07 > 0:10:10It was, yeah. It was wall to wall.

0:10:10 > 0:10:13There was no sitting room or anything.

0:10:13 > 0:10:15It was really high energy kind of stuff.

0:10:16 > 0:10:19# That's what you get when you let your heart win... #

0:10:19 > 0:10:22Do you think Paramore has changed much?

0:10:22 > 0:10:24I don't think so, no.

0:10:24 > 0:10:26It's interesting to see them world famous,

0:10:26 > 0:10:30but every time I see Hayley she still runs up to me and hugs me.

0:10:30 > 0:10:31Nothing's really changed.

0:10:31 > 0:10:34Aw, well, Hayley can't be here now to give you a big hug.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37But thank you seriously so much for the chat.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40Gigging with the big boys at 15,

0:10:40 > 0:10:45that's two brave Ambo points for getting your music heard.

0:10:45 > 0:10:48And it wasn't long before Paramore had a record deal.

0:10:53 > 0:10:56MUSIC: "Pressure" by Paramore

0:10:56 > 0:10:59This is Paramore's first ever video.

0:10:59 > 0:11:03And it was released when Hayley was just 16, in 2005.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07Have two more Ambo points

0:11:07 > 0:11:09for making vids at such a young age.

0:11:09 > 0:11:12But success didn't come easy.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15So they had to hit the road and go on tour.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21And they didn't just do any old tour.

0:11:21 > 0:11:25They did the hardcore punk festival that is the Warped Tour.

0:11:25 > 0:11:28And drummer Zac was just 15 at the time.

0:11:28 > 0:11:32For Paramore to be going on tour when they were 15 is absolutely crazy.

0:11:32 > 0:11:34# You would've never known...

0:11:34 > 0:11:38I can imagine that being a bit of a nightmare, having to gig at age 15.

0:11:38 > 0:11:41Because I think it would seem fun at first but, to be fair,

0:11:41 > 0:11:44you want your mum's cooking, really, don't you?

0:11:44 > 0:11:46That's four punk rock Ambo points

0:11:46 > 0:11:48for braving it on the road

0:11:48 > 0:11:50on the Warped Tour.

0:11:50 > 0:11:52With their music being released

0:11:52 > 0:11:56and wowing audiences around the US, Paramore hit the big time, right?

0:11:56 > 0:11:59Well, not quite. Despite having heaps of fans,

0:11:59 > 0:12:03Paramore's first single from the album didn't even make the charts.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06Awkward! But they didn't give up, obviously.

0:12:06 > 0:12:09And it was their second album, Riot, which made them

0:12:09 > 0:12:14big superstars in the US, UK and the best country of all, Australia.

0:12:18 > 0:12:21Two albums and worldwide success

0:12:21 > 0:12:23when Hayley was just 18 years old.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26Three more Ambo points for global domination, guys.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30Let's have a look at the scores.

0:12:31 > 0:12:32It's a close one,

0:12:32 > 0:12:34but Paramore's daring punk tour at

0:12:34 > 0:12:36the age of 15 has put them

0:12:36 > 0:12:38one Ambo point ahead.

0:12:38 > 0:12:40Jessie J will have to pull out all

0:12:40 > 0:12:42the stops in the next round.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44If you're on Team Jessie and you're not happy,

0:12:44 > 0:12:47get on to the CBBC website and have your say.

0:12:52 > 0:12:55Round Two - Pop Success.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58This is all about how hard these guys have been working to

0:12:58 > 0:13:00stay at the top of the charts.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02First up, JJ.

0:13:02 > 0:13:06It's pretty obvious that our Jessie is a talented little scamp.

0:13:06 > 0:13:09Not only does she have an amazing voice,

0:13:09 > 0:13:11but she's also written all the songs on both of her albums.

0:13:11 > 0:13:13Wow.

0:13:13 > 0:13:15Not only that, but what you might not know is that she also

0:13:15 > 0:13:19writes for other artists, including this gem of a pop track.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21- SHE SINGS:- # And the Jay Z song was on...

0:13:21 > 0:13:23# And the Jay Z song was on

0:13:23 > 0:13:26# So I put my hands up They're playing my song

0:13:26 > 0:13:28# The butterflies fly away... #

0:13:28 > 0:13:33Take three Ambo points for some awesome song-writing action, Jessie.

0:13:34 > 0:13:38Like Jessie J, Hayley loves writing songs.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41She's written the lyrics to every song on every Paramore record,

0:13:50 > 0:13:53That's a bit naughty. This girl!

0:13:53 > 0:13:55MUSIC: "Fences" by Paramore

0:13:55 > 0:13:57I'm going to give you three Ambo

0:13:57 > 0:13:59points for some writing creativity

0:13:59 > 0:14:02but I'm going to take off two

0:14:02 > 0:14:04for not concentrating in your exam.

0:14:04 > 0:14:05Tut-tut.

0:14:08 > 0:14:11It's not just Paramore's writing skills that set them apart.

0:14:11 > 0:14:15As any true fan will tell you, the best thing about them is their gigs.

0:14:15 > 0:14:19We are Paramore!

0:14:24 > 0:14:26With a band like Paramore, it sounds great on record

0:14:26 > 0:14:28but it sounds phenomenal when you see it live.

0:14:32 > 0:14:35I actually went to see Paramore in concert when I was about 13.

0:14:35 > 0:14:38I was dancing to all the music. I got the T-shirt.

0:14:38 > 0:14:41I'm a massive fan of Paramore. I love them. Very, very special.

0:14:43 > 0:14:45Paramore play arenas all over the world.

0:14:45 > 0:14:48But even that's not enough for them.

0:14:48 > 0:14:51In March 2014, they created their own floating

0:14:51 > 0:14:54festival on a Caribbean cruise ship called Parahoy.

0:14:54 > 0:14:57That's three Ambo points for putting in the gigging hours

0:14:57 > 0:15:00and conquering land and sea.

0:15:00 > 0:15:01But hold up!

0:15:01 > 0:15:05They're not the only ones who aren't afraid to get up onstage.

0:15:05 > 0:15:09And for Jessie, it proved to be a bit of a hazard.

0:15:09 > 0:15:11In 2011, she seriously hurt her ankle

0:15:11 > 0:15:13when rehearsing for one of her gigs.

0:15:13 > 0:15:15Now, I wasn't there,

0:15:15 > 0:15:17but I'm pretty sure I can imagine how this went down.

0:15:19 > 0:15:21- AMBERLEY SINGS:- # It's not about the money, money, money

0:15:21 > 0:15:23# We don't need your money, money, money

0:15:23 > 0:15:26# We just wanna make the world dance... #

0:15:26 > 0:15:29Dance with me! Oops. Whoa! Ah! Oooh!

0:15:29 > 0:15:33Oh, guys, I've hurt my ankle. I think it's broken.

0:15:33 > 0:15:36Talent down. My career is over.

0:15:36 > 0:15:38Or was it?

0:15:38 > 0:15:40CHEERING

0:15:40 > 0:15:42I made it!

0:15:44 > 0:15:47That's right, your eyes aren't deceiving you.

0:15:47 > 0:15:51That's Jessie J performing onstage with a broken ankle.

0:15:51 > 0:15:53She could barely stand

0:15:53 > 0:15:57and did every gig sat on a throne with her leg in plaster.

0:15:57 > 0:15:59Yeah, unbelievable. I know.

0:16:01 > 0:16:04MUSIC: "Mamma Knows Best" by Jessie J

0:16:04 > 0:16:07Most people, if they hurt themselves, they'd probably try

0:16:07 > 0:16:10and use that as an excuse not to have to go to work or school.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12But Jessie J continued to perform.

0:16:12 > 0:16:16So she almost turned this leg cast into part of her outfit.

0:16:16 > 0:16:19# Something going down... #

0:16:19 > 0:16:21That just really shows something about her work ethic.

0:16:21 > 0:16:23Because nothing was going to get in her way.

0:16:23 > 0:16:26She wasn't going to let any of her fans down.

0:16:26 > 0:16:29And she had a schedule and she was going to stick to it.

0:16:29 > 0:16:31One leg or two legs.

0:16:31 > 0:16:35Now, that is dedication to the pop cause.

0:16:35 > 0:16:37Five Ambo points to you, Jessie J.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40# Take your stuff and roll

0:16:40 > 0:16:42# Cos you're not... #

0:16:42 > 0:16:45Once Jessie's plaster was off, nothing was stopping her.

0:16:45 > 0:16:48And what came next was maybe her greatest achievement of all.

0:16:48 > 0:16:53Performing in front of royalty at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

0:16:53 > 0:16:55# I'm feeling sexy and free

0:16:56 > 0:16:58# Like glitter's raining on me... #

0:17:00 > 0:17:03Being asked to perform at the Diamond Jubilee really cemented

0:17:03 > 0:17:07Jessie J's place in the pop world in the UK.

0:17:08 > 0:17:11I do love a good royal connection.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14Two regal Ambo points to you, Jessie.

0:17:14 > 0:17:15And it's not just singing

0:17:15 > 0:17:17that Jessie works so hard at.

0:17:17 > 0:17:21In 2012, she was a coach on The Voice for two series.

0:17:21 > 0:17:22Have another Ambo point

0:17:22 > 0:17:24for some extra curricular activity.

0:17:24 > 0:17:28Whilst Jessie's been on TV with Tom Jones, since Paramore have been

0:17:28 > 0:17:32famous they've been working hard to get in touch with their fans.

0:17:32 > 0:17:35For their second album, Paramore ran a competition where fans

0:17:35 > 0:17:39could win a chance to sing on their record. Cue mass hysteria.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41Amongst Paramore fans.

0:17:41 > 0:17:45They entered lots and lots of videos online of themselves singing.

0:17:45 > 0:17:48And the winner was Mary Bonney, from Virginia.

0:17:48 > 0:17:50And we just so happen to be right outside her house.

0:17:50 > 0:17:55# I've hoped for change and it gets better every day... #

0:17:55 > 0:17:57This is Mary's winning entry video.

0:17:57 > 0:17:59She didn't just get to sing on the album,

0:17:59 > 0:18:02she also got to hang out with the band all day long.

0:18:02 > 0:18:06And I'm going to get all the goss. So keen!

0:18:06 > 0:18:08Mary!

0:18:10 > 0:18:12# Whoa!

0:18:12 > 0:18:13# Whoa!

0:18:13 > 0:18:14# Whoa!

0:18:14 > 0:18:16# Whoa! #

0:18:16 > 0:18:17Mary, I'm not going to lie,

0:18:17 > 0:18:20I'm devastated that I wasn't involved in this competition.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22Tell me everything. How did it go down?

0:18:22 > 0:18:25The best moment, I feel like, was when Hayley first walked in the room.

0:18:25 > 0:18:27She walks in and she's really friendly. She's like, "Hey, Mary."

0:18:27 > 0:18:30And the fact that she knew my name from the video...

0:18:30 > 0:18:32She was like, "Oh, I loved your video. It was so funny."

0:18:32 > 0:18:35I'm like, "You're great. You're amazing." She's so great.

0:18:35 > 0:18:37# Haven't you people ever heard of... #

0:18:37 > 0:18:39Mary was living the dream, and hanging out with

0:18:39 > 0:18:42her favourite band before getting down to business

0:18:42 > 0:18:45and singing on the song Born For This.

0:18:45 > 0:18:48It was just like a couple of lines that we repeated back.

0:18:48 > 0:18:51So it was me and my sister and all of them.

0:18:51 > 0:18:55We're like yelling at these backing vocals. It was just... It was great.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58# We were born for this

0:18:58 > 0:19:01# We were born for this

0:19:01 > 0:19:03# We were born for this

0:19:03 > 0:19:06# We were born for this... #

0:19:06 > 0:19:07When the CD came out,

0:19:07 > 0:19:10if you look really closely in the liner, you can see...

0:19:10 > 0:19:13Born For This - addition vocals - Mary Bonney.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16And then my sister Kate Bonney. I'll always have that.

0:19:16 > 0:19:17Wow, I've got to admit,

0:19:17 > 0:19:20before this, I was a Paramore fan about this much.

0:19:20 > 0:19:23- Now, I am just this big a Paramore fan.- Awesome. Welcome to the club.

0:19:23 > 0:19:25Paramore sure love their fans.

0:19:25 > 0:19:28And have been working hard to give a little back.

0:19:28 > 0:19:31Three Ambo points for some awesome fan love.

0:19:31 > 0:19:33But how does all this work that Jessie

0:19:33 > 0:19:36and Paramore have been doing affect their record sales?

0:19:36 > 0:19:38Well, let's take a look-see.

0:19:38 > 0:19:41# It's not about the money, money, money... #

0:19:41 > 0:19:43No, it's not about the money,

0:19:43 > 0:19:47but Jessie J has sold a whopping 6.4 million records in the UK.

0:19:49 > 0:19:56Whereas Paramore have only sold 2.6 million records in Britain.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00But have sold 13.8 million digital tracks in their home country.

0:20:00 > 0:20:03That's two Ambo points to both artists.

0:20:03 > 0:20:05That's Round Two over.

0:20:05 > 0:20:06Let's check out the scores.

0:20:06 > 0:20:08Both JJ and Paramore

0:20:08 > 0:20:09are hard workers.

0:20:09 > 0:20:11But Jessie's broken leg performances

0:20:11 > 0:20:13have given her the edge.

0:20:13 > 0:20:16Paramore has 20. Jessie J has 23.

0:20:16 > 0:20:17It's all to play for

0:20:17 > 0:20:18in the final round.

0:20:18 > 0:20:22If you don't agree with me, then get onto the CBBC website

0:20:22 > 0:20:23and get typing.

0:20:30 > 0:20:32Round Three - Pop Style.

0:20:32 > 0:20:36This is all about our celebrities' lives - clothes, cars,

0:20:36 > 0:20:39pets or whatever else they splash their cash on.

0:20:39 > 0:20:43Jessie and Paramore may be from totally different countries

0:20:43 > 0:20:46and have totally different sounds, but there is no denying that

0:20:46 > 0:20:50both Hayley and Jessie know how to stand out from a crowd.

0:20:50 > 0:20:53# In the blink of an eye

0:20:53 > 0:20:57# I was falling from the sky... #

0:20:57 > 0:20:59Jessie J has a pretty strong style.

0:20:59 > 0:21:02And to give us the lowdown, I'm going to talk to X Factor stylist,

0:21:02 > 0:21:07Frank Strachan, who's actually styled Jessie himself in the past.

0:21:08 > 0:21:11Jessie J loves to stand out a little bit.

0:21:11 > 0:21:14Does that kind of help her, in terms of becoming a bigger pop star?

0:21:14 > 0:21:16Oh, absolutely.

0:21:16 > 0:21:19It's important, as a stylist, when you're dressing someone,

0:21:19 > 0:21:21to make sure you don't just dress them to look nice,

0:21:21 > 0:21:24because no-one talks or is interesting in someone looking nice.

0:21:24 > 0:21:27You want to see something that's maybe a little bit wrong.

0:21:27 > 0:21:29Maybe it's not exactly how you'd wear a dress

0:21:29 > 0:21:32if you were going to meet your friends for lunch.

0:21:32 > 0:21:35It's something that's a little bit askew that then is going to

0:21:35 > 0:21:38get attention. It's going to get you in the press.

0:21:38 > 0:21:41So Jessie's got the bling factor.

0:21:41 > 0:21:44Three gl-Ambo points for an original style.

0:21:44 > 0:21:47So if I want to get the Jessie J look, what's one thing I can do?

0:21:47 > 0:21:50Even though she wears totally different outfits all the time,

0:21:50 > 0:21:53she's always playing with fashion, she always goes for really big,

0:21:53 > 0:21:54strong gold jewellery.

0:21:57 > 0:22:02- Even like this cuff.- Yeah?- Big chunky cuff. Go on. Let's give that a go.

0:22:02 > 0:22:05- Oh, yeah. Who am I?- Jessie J.

0:22:05 > 0:22:07Yes, I am. Put it here.

0:22:07 > 0:22:09That's Jessie's fashion.

0:22:09 > 0:22:12# Can't make my own decisions... #

0:22:12 > 0:22:15But how will Paramore stack up?

0:22:15 > 0:22:19It's fair to say that Hayley has her own distinctive style.

0:22:19 > 0:22:24Or should I say styles? She'll wear anything, as long as it's cool.

0:22:24 > 0:22:26# I've been changing... #

0:22:26 > 0:22:28Have two quirky Ambo points

0:22:28 > 0:22:30for mixing it up.

0:22:30 > 0:22:32But that's not the whole story.

0:22:32 > 0:22:35There's one thing you can't ignore about Paramore's style.

0:22:35 > 0:22:38Hayley's hair. And you wouldn't believe it,

0:22:38 > 0:22:41I'm about to get my hair done by her stylist, which is good timing,

0:22:41 > 0:22:42cos I have a situation.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47- Hiya!- Hi.

0:22:47 > 0:22:49Get in here.

0:22:49 > 0:22:53- How are you?- Really good, actually. I have a hair situation.

0:22:53 > 0:22:56- I would say so. - Do you reckon you could help me out?

0:22:56 > 0:23:00Um... I think there's... I think so.

0:23:00 > 0:23:03- I think we can do this. - Let's get to work.- Are you ready?

0:23:03 > 0:23:06- I'm ready.- I can't wait. I'm a little frightened.

0:23:06 > 0:23:10I can't believe I'm getting my hair done by Hayley's stylist.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13Brian is one of Nashville's top hair aficionados.

0:23:13 > 0:23:16And I'm going to get all the goss on Hayley's locks.

0:23:16 > 0:23:17Excited!

0:23:17 > 0:23:23# It's just my humble opinion... #

0:23:27 > 0:23:30Oh! I just feel like a new person already, Brian.

0:23:30 > 0:23:35- We're on our way there. - When did you first meet Hayley?

0:23:35 > 0:23:39I met Hayley, let's see, eight, almost nine years ago.

0:23:39 > 0:23:43I remember the first time I did her hair for a music video.

0:23:43 > 0:23:45It was for Crush, Crush, Crush and I styled it.

0:23:45 > 0:23:48# If you want to play it like a game... #

0:23:48 > 0:23:50I thought she was cute and fun to begin with.

0:23:50 > 0:23:52And then she got in front of the camera.

0:23:52 > 0:23:56They said 'action' and it was like this completely different person,

0:23:56 > 0:24:00came out of nowhere. I remember standing there going...

0:24:00 > 0:24:04# Scribbled out the truth with your lies

0:24:04 > 0:24:05# Your little spies... #

0:24:05 > 0:24:07Is she really fun to work with?

0:24:07 > 0:24:10Cos she seems like she'd just be up for anything with her hair.

0:24:10 > 0:24:13Oh, it's... Yeah, the crazier, the better.

0:24:13 > 0:24:17The more we're out there with stuff, the more she loves it.

0:24:17 > 0:24:23And she's so creative. She comes up with a lot of her own looks.

0:24:23 > 0:24:26Has she ever come up to you with an idea and you've been like,

0:24:26 > 0:24:29I don't know about that, that seems a bit much?

0:24:29 > 0:24:30Um, actually, yes.

0:24:30 > 0:24:33And it's probably one of my favourite looks and videos that we've done.

0:24:33 > 0:24:39It was Still Into You. The pink and orange hair was totally her idea.

0:24:39 > 0:24:41And I was like, "Are you sure?"

0:24:41 > 0:24:44And honestly, it is one of my favourite music videos and looks.

0:24:44 > 0:24:48# Some things just, some things just make sense

0:24:48 > 0:24:51# And even after all this time... #

0:24:51 > 0:24:56Ah! Brian, hands down, I love it. I think it's amazing.

0:24:56 > 0:24:58Thank you so much. I'm sorry for playing it safe.

0:24:58 > 0:25:00Next time, I promise, we'll chuck some orange in

0:25:00 > 0:25:03and we'll do a full Hayley. But bring it in.

0:25:03 > 0:25:05'Brian is awesome!

0:25:05 > 0:25:07'He sorted my hair out, and more importantly,

0:25:07 > 0:25:09'makes Hayley's hair radical.

0:25:09 > 0:25:11'Four hair dye Ambo points.'

0:25:11 > 0:25:14# I stare at my reflection in the mirror... #

0:25:14 > 0:25:18It's not just the clothes and hair that these two are about.

0:25:18 > 0:25:22They also like to hang up the bling and do a thing or two for charity.

0:25:22 > 0:25:28In March 2013, live on the BBC for Comic Relief, thousands watched

0:25:28 > 0:25:32as Lenny Henry helped relieve Jessie J of her sleek black bob.

0:25:32 > 0:25:36- Ooh!- This is so going on eBay!

0:25:37 > 0:25:40But Jessie was after more than a bit of a trim,

0:25:40 > 0:25:43and had all her hair completely shaved off.

0:25:43 > 0:25:45CHEERING

0:25:45 > 0:25:50MUSIC: "Domino" by Jessie J

0:25:50 > 0:25:52That's five Ambo points to Jessie

0:25:52 > 0:25:54for changing her style for charity.

0:25:54 > 0:25:55And, of course,

0:25:55 > 0:25:58Paramore aren't afraid to get their hands dirty for a good cause either.

0:25:58 > 0:26:02In 2010, Paramore went back to Florida, to where they had written

0:26:02 > 0:26:07their first album, and helped build houses for underprivileged families.

0:26:07 > 0:26:10That's when they were painting each other instead of the houses.

0:26:10 > 0:26:15Five Ambo points for a DIY charitable style.

0:26:15 > 0:26:16Hey, it's not all fashion,

0:26:16 > 0:26:18hair and charity.

0:26:18 > 0:26:20Taylor, the guitarist of Paramore,

0:26:20 > 0:26:24spends his time collecting something totally random.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27Gnomes. He has them everywhere -

0:26:27 > 0:26:30in his garden, studio, wherever.

0:26:30 > 0:26:33That's one extra gnome-tastic Ambo

0:26:33 > 0:26:35point for an out there style.

0:26:35 > 0:26:38And that takes us to the end of Round Three.

0:26:42 > 0:26:44Well, guys, we're at the end of another Pop Slam,

0:26:44 > 0:26:48and it has been amazing. But who has won the Ambo?

0:26:48 > 0:26:51Will it be Jessie J or Paramore?

0:26:51 > 0:26:53Let's find out what we've learned.

0:26:54 > 0:26:57It's been a show of rock and pop.

0:26:57 > 0:27:00But Jessie J and Paramore are not so different.

0:27:00 > 0:27:04Both started out early, write their own songs, look amazing,

0:27:04 > 0:27:07and like to do what they can for a good cause.

0:27:07 > 0:27:10It's a very, very close Pop Slam.

0:27:10 > 0:27:15Ladies and gentlemen, it's the moment we've all been waiting for.

0:27:15 > 0:27:19The points have been counted and independently verified by me.
