0:02:33 > 0:02:37His life may be all flash cars and flashing lights now...

0:02:37 > 0:02:41But when Will.i.am was just plain old Will Adams, life was very

0:02:41 > 0:02:46different, growing up in a tough superb in Los Angeles, California.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49# You promised forever and a day

0:02:49 > 0:02:52# And yet you take it all away. #

0:02:52 > 0:02:55Meanwhile, before Ellie Goulding was tearing up the charts,

0:02:55 > 0:02:58she was growing up in sleepy Herefordshire.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02But her pop star dreams started to become a reality

0:03:02 > 0:03:05right here in the rock 'n roll town of...

0:03:05 > 0:03:07Canterbury?

0:03:07 > 0:03:11Exactly how did Will and Ellie scale the heights of superstardom?

0:03:11 > 0:03:14First up, it's Will.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16# What's wrong with the world, Mama?

0:03:16 > 0:03:19# People livin' like they ain't go no mamas. #

0:03:19 > 0:03:24This is the video that made Will.i.am a megastar in 2003.

0:03:24 > 0:03:29But it was well over a decade before this that his musical journey began.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31This is Palisades Charter High School,

0:03:31 > 0:03:35and it is here where Will Adams, a.k.a. Will.i.am, went to school.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38But this wasn't his local school.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Will lived miles away on the other side of town.

0:03:41 > 0:03:45Will grew up in an area of Los Angeles called Boyle Heights,

0:03:45 > 0:03:48where crime was high and opportunities for kids were few.

0:03:48 > 0:03:52His mum wanted to get him a better education, so you she sent him to

0:03:52 > 0:03:57a good school, which was an hour's bus ride across town each way.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59Phew! But the willpower paid off,

0:03:59 > 0:04:03because it is right here where Will Adams became Will.i.am.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05# Let's get it started

0:04:05 > 0:04:07# Let's get it started in here! #

0:04:07 > 0:04:11Whilst at school, Will met two kids called Jaime Gomez,

0:04:11 > 0:04:16a.k.a. Taboo, and Allan Pineda, a.k.a. Apl.de.ap.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19The three formed a group that would one day become the hip-hop

0:04:19 > 0:04:21megastars The Black Eyed Peas.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23# Aaaah

0:04:23 > 0:04:26# You wanna hate on us Be envious. #

0:04:26 > 0:04:30The Black Eyed Peas formed in 1995 and went on to sell more than

0:04:30 > 0:04:3230 million albums

0:04:32 > 0:04:35and have become one of most downloaded acts in history.

0:04:36 > 0:04:41But let's rewind back to 1998 and the Black Eyed Peas' first single.

0:04:41 > 0:04:44# Play it again Saying that's the joint.

0:04:44 > 0:04:45There's Will.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48# Turn it up and play it again That's the joint. #

0:04:48 > 0:04:50And there's Apl. Looking good, guys.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52# Play it again Let your body collide

0:04:52 > 0:04:54# To the rhythm provided by the... #

0:04:54 > 0:04:56And in a major Pop Slam exclusive,

0:04:56 > 0:04:59I tracked down Apl in LA.

0:04:59 > 0:05:00You guys aren't going to believe this,

0:05:00 > 0:05:03but this is the actual street where Apl.de.ap lives.

0:05:03 > 0:05:05I didn't know it was up a hill.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07# Maybe in time You can stop this crime

0:05:07 > 0:05:09# But until then, yo I'ma rock a rhyme

0:05:09 > 0:05:11# Sayin' that's the joint. #

0:05:11 > 0:05:14It's worth the hike because Apl has agreed to tell me

0:05:14 > 0:05:17all about being with Will in those early days.

0:05:17 > 0:05:18So, from an early age,

0:05:18 > 0:05:21you guys knew that you kind of wanted to do a dancing thing

0:05:21 > 0:05:24- or a singing thing?- Yeah. So the first thing we formed was

0:05:24 > 0:05:27a dance group called Travel Nation.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29And, you know, we would just practice every day

0:05:29 > 0:05:31in a recreational room.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36As well as being amazing dancers,

0:05:36 > 0:05:40the boys realised they could rap, too.

0:05:40 > 0:05:43We would just put on some beats and we would just, like, sit

0:05:43 > 0:05:46- in our own corner and, like, try to write a verse, you know?- Yeah.

0:05:46 > 0:05:50And then after you finished, like, "Yo, check out what I came up with."

0:05:50 > 0:05:53So you'd do it separately and then compared it to each other.

0:05:53 > 0:05:54Yeah. We would do it separate,

0:05:54 > 0:05:57we would write our own, and then we'd compare, like,

0:05:57 > 0:06:00- "Oh, cool, yours is better, I got to rewrite mine."- Yeah.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03So when did you start getting really serious about, you know,

0:06:03 > 0:06:05getting a group together, starting a rap group?

0:06:05 > 0:06:07Maybe like at 16, me and Will were like,

0:06:07 > 0:06:10"Yo, we're going to do this, man. We are going to make this, man.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13"We've got to make this happen."

0:06:13 > 0:06:15# I like to hear my favourite song on the radio

0:06:15 > 0:06:18# So I call up and request it on the radio. #

0:06:18 > 0:06:22Will, take three Ambo points for having the determination

0:06:22 > 0:06:24to make it big while still being at school.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27But I want to know if he's always been called Will.i.am.

0:06:27 > 0:06:29Back in the day, did you have a nickname for him

0:06:29 > 0:06:30or was it Will.i.am?

0:06:30 > 0:06:33Oh, he had a few names. He had Will 1X.

0:06:33 > 0:06:35Oh, this is a good one.

0:06:35 > 0:06:37This is his first name, actually.

0:06:37 > 0:06:38Will Chill.

0:06:42 > 0:06:45Will Chill?! Uh, good call to change it to Will.i.am.

0:06:45 > 0:06:48Before I went, I figured that as Will and Apl

0:06:48 > 0:06:51are such good dancers, there was one thing left for me to do.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54I feel like I've absorbed enough information on this Will guy

0:06:54 > 0:06:55to kind of take his place.

0:06:55 > 0:06:57I could dance battle you right here, right now.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59- You think you could break it down? - I think I could.

0:06:59 > 0:07:03- All right.- I'll let you go first. - All right.- Put some beats on.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06I've got to warn you, when I'm not in the car, it's dangerous.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13A you warming up or are you dancing?

0:07:13 > 0:07:15Your turn. Yeah!

0:07:15 > 0:07:17Break it down.

0:07:21 > 0:07:22Will, I got a new best friend.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25- Will, you ain't got nothing on her! - You ain't got nothing!

0:07:25 > 0:07:27# Yo, this is the way it's going down

0:07:27 > 0:07:30# We come in compound Releasing double rounds at hound. #

0:07:30 > 0:07:31Apl, what a lad.

0:07:31 > 0:07:35Will, take two Ambo points for having an amazing bezzie

0:07:35 > 0:07:36and forming an amazing band.

0:07:36 > 0:07:40# Entity with a so-called MC enemies. #

0:07:40 > 0:07:43But music wasn't the only thing Will was working on in the early days.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45When he wasn't laying down the beats,

0:07:45 > 0:07:46he was beating a path to get his hands

0:07:46 > 0:07:48on the coolest clothes in town.

0:07:48 > 0:07:51But money was pretty tight, so Will had to hit up

0:07:51 > 0:07:55second-hand shops to find clothes to create his unique look.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02# Like this People... #

0:08:02 > 0:08:03He may have looked the part,

0:08:03 > 0:08:07but Will and the Black Eyed Peas still weren't hitting the big time.

0:08:07 > 0:08:10The band released two albums and Will made two solo albums,

0:08:10 > 0:08:13but didn't get anywhere near the top 20.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15There was something missing from the band,

0:08:15 > 0:08:17and it wasn't until Will met this girl...

0:08:17 > 0:08:20I wish. No, this girl.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22# Shut up, just shut up, shut up. #

0:08:22 > 0:08:26In 2003, Stacy Ferguson, a.k.a. Fergie,

0:08:26 > 0:08:28joined The Black Eyed Peas.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31# Shut up, just shut up, shut up. #

0:08:31 > 0:08:33And Will's dream team was complete.

0:08:33 > 0:08:34# Just shut up, shut up

0:08:34 > 0:08:38# We tried to take it slow But we're still losing control. #

0:08:38 > 0:08:41They released their third album, Elephunk,

0:08:41 > 0:08:43and it went on to be huge,

0:08:43 > 0:08:47selling more than nine million copies.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50For an epic breakthrough, Will, take four Ambo points.

0:08:50 > 0:08:54# Girl, me and you were just fine You know. #

0:08:54 > 0:08:57Will, chill for a bit. Ellie, what have you got?

0:08:58 > 0:09:02# Oh Everybody is starry eyed

0:09:02 > 0:09:04# And nobody goes... #

0:09:04 > 0:09:07Ellie came here, to the University of Kent.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10Up until 2005, she had lived in a small village.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13But it is this place where Ellie's life started to change.

0:09:13 > 0:09:17This is how a country girl turned into one of the biggest pop

0:09:17 > 0:09:18stars on the planet.

0:09:18 > 0:09:21# Everybody is starry eyed

0:09:21 > 0:09:23# And everybody goes... #

0:09:23 > 0:09:25Ellie has been musical since she was nine years old,

0:09:25 > 0:09:27when she picked up a clarinet.

0:09:27 > 0:09:29But she didn't come to Kent University

0:09:29 > 0:09:31to study music, she came to do drama.

0:09:31 > 0:09:36And her tutors agreed to let me in on a few little Ellie secrets.

0:09:36 > 0:09:37Now, Sian, what was she like?

0:09:37 > 0:09:39She was fabulous. She was a great student.

0:09:39 > 0:09:45She was incredibly enthusiastic about performance.

0:09:46 > 0:09:47Very bright.

0:09:47 > 0:09:50A bit different, actually. Quite a tomboy.

0:09:50 > 0:09:52- Really?!- Yeah. - I can't imagine her being a tomboy.

0:09:52 > 0:09:56- Yeah, no, she was quite a tomboy.- So how did Ellie actually get spotted?

0:09:56 > 0:09:59Well, Ellie entered a music competition,

0:09:59 > 0:10:02which happens at Keynes College, called Keynestock.

0:10:04 > 0:10:08Keynestock is Kent University's annual music talent show.

0:10:08 > 0:10:10In 2007, Ellie decided to enter.

0:10:10 > 0:10:14But in those days, she wasn't all about dance and pop.

0:10:14 > 0:10:15She was a folk singer.

0:10:15 > 0:10:18And guess what, she won.

0:10:18 > 0:10:22# Stone-cutters Made them from stones. #

0:10:22 > 0:10:27Have three Ambo points for bagging your first big music prize.

0:10:27 > 0:10:32Also in the same contest was another talented songwriter, Lucy Kitt.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35And she is going to tell me all about that big night.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39OK, so paint a picture for us.

0:10:39 > 0:10:43It's 2007, the stage is just over there and Ellie has just hopped on.

0:10:43 > 0:10:44What was it like?

0:10:44 > 0:10:47Um, yeah, her winning performance was kind of at night,

0:10:47 > 0:10:50so the stage was over here, there was tonnes of students

0:10:50 > 0:10:53kind of screaming. And it was a really catchy tune.

0:10:53 > 0:10:56And I remember thinking, "I can hear this in the charts."

0:10:56 > 0:11:01# The mountaineers gathered Timber piled high... #

0:11:01 > 0:11:04The good news didn't end there, because in the crowd,

0:11:04 > 0:11:07was a music talent spotter, who offered Ellie the chance to sign

0:11:07 > 0:11:11with his company and move to London to pursue a music career.

0:11:12 > 0:11:16- Did you know that there was going to be agents in there spotting?- No.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18I guess you never know who's there at the time.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21And I'm sure Ellie probably didn't know who was there at the time.

0:11:21 > 0:11:25But, um, just I suppose, you know, anything can happen.

0:11:25 > 0:11:27And how does it feel that, you know, someone at the same

0:11:27 > 0:11:30university has gone on to become this massive megastar?

0:11:30 > 0:11:34It's quite an inspiration, I guess, cos you kind of see, you know,

0:11:34 > 0:11:37from the roots, where you can go if you really just try

0:11:37 > 0:11:40and persist and never give up your dreams.

0:11:40 > 0:11:41So it is an amazing inspiration.

0:11:41 > 0:11:46# Thought we were due for... #

0:11:46 > 0:11:49With the offer of a music career, Ellie had a tough call to make -

0:11:49 > 0:11:52finish her uni course or leave to follow the her dreams?

0:11:52 > 0:11:57She came to talk to me, said this person had said that she was

0:11:57 > 0:12:00going to be the next big thing, she was incredibly excited.

0:12:00 > 0:12:03And I think she MIGHT have made the right decision.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05Oh, definitely made the right decision.

0:12:05 > 0:12:10But, Ellie Goulding, you have one year left to finish your degree.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13- If you're listening, Ellie Goulding, get back to uni.- And I miss you.

0:12:13 > 0:12:16- Come back.- Come back. - Finish it and then go do your music.

0:12:16 > 0:12:19Come join us, we're waiting for you at uni.

0:12:19 > 0:12:22SHE SINGS

0:12:22 > 0:12:27Age 20, Ellie quit uni and moved to London to try and make it.

0:12:27 > 0:12:31Take two Ambo points for a brave decision.

0:12:31 > 0:12:35And so her rise to popstardom was complete.

0:12:35 > 0:12:36Or was it?

0:12:36 > 0:12:39Unfortunately, the road to fame wasn't so easy for Ellie,

0:12:39 > 0:12:41and she spent the next two years doing hundreds of small

0:12:41 > 0:12:43gigs before even getting noticed.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46# We're under the sheets

0:12:46 > 0:12:48# And you're killing me. #

0:12:48 > 0:12:52But gradually, her hard work began to pay off.

0:12:52 > 0:12:55When she released her debut single Under The Sheets in 2009,

0:12:55 > 0:12:59people were so excited about her that it made the news.

0:12:59 > 0:13:01You may never have heard of her, but by the end of this year,

0:13:01 > 0:13:03Ellie Goulding could be hugely successful.

0:13:03 > 0:13:06She's a 22-year-old singer-songwriter who has

0:13:06 > 0:13:09made it to the top of the BBC's Sound of 2010 list.

0:13:09 > 0:13:12# We're under the sheets

0:13:12 > 0:13:14# And you're killing me. #

0:13:14 > 0:13:18After being named the hottest new talent in music for 2010,

0:13:18 > 0:13:21Ellie released her debut album, Lights,

0:13:21 > 0:13:23and it stormed to number one in the charts.

0:13:26 > 0:13:30That's four Ambo points for lighting up the charts.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32So what does that mean for our scores?

0:13:33 > 0:13:36Both Ellie and Will have made a strong start

0:13:36 > 0:13:39and sit on nine Ambo points.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41This one could go either way.

0:13:42 > 0:13:44Now that we know how our stars made it,

0:13:44 > 0:13:47let's check out how hard they've been working since then.

0:13:47 > 0:13:51It's time...for Round 2.

0:13:56 > 0:13:58Round 2 - Pop Success.

0:13:58 > 0:14:01This is all about what our stars have been up to to keep them

0:14:01 > 0:14:03at the top of the charts.

0:14:03 > 0:14:06First up, Mr I.am

0:14:06 > 0:14:10Will.i.am has been recording music since 1995,

0:14:10 > 0:14:12and he's had massive success,

0:14:12 > 0:14:15both with The Black Eyed Peas and as a solo artist.

0:14:15 > 0:14:18But his golden talent would have to be his song writing.

0:14:18 > 0:14:20And there's a list of artists as long as my arm who he's

0:14:20 > 0:14:22written music for.

0:14:22 > 0:14:24Don't believe me? Then check it out!

0:14:25 > 0:14:27# Bring the action.

0:14:27 > 0:14:30# When we up in the club All eyes on us

0:14:30 > 0:14:32# All eyes on us

0:14:32 > 0:14:34# All eyes on us. #

0:14:34 > 0:14:38Will has written classic tunes for this little lot of stars. Ready?

0:14:38 > 0:14:41Britney Spears, of course, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber,

0:14:41 > 0:14:46Cheryl Cole, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Mick Jagger and Jennifer Lopez.

0:14:46 > 0:14:48There's just so many to scream and shout about.

0:14:48 > 0:14:50# I want to scream and shout

0:14:50 > 0:14:52# And let it all out

0:14:52 > 0:14:55# And scream and shout And let it out. #

0:14:55 > 0:14:57I think so many talented vocalists

0:14:57 > 0:14:59are very keen to work with Will.i.am because

0:14:59 > 0:15:00he seems to have the Midas touch.

0:15:00 > 0:15:03Will seems to know the formula, and it works.

0:15:03 > 0:15:06# I want to scream and shout And let it all out. #

0:15:06 > 0:15:11Will, have three Ambo points for keeping everyone in pop busy.

0:15:11 > 0:15:15# Because I'm calling your name. #

0:15:15 > 0:15:18It's not just Will who's got the golden touch

0:15:18 > 0:15:20when it comes to collaborating with other artists.

0:15:20 > 0:15:23Ellie is in hot demand to supply guest vocals

0:15:23 > 0:15:27for some of the biggest names in music, including Tinie Tempah...

0:15:27 > 0:15:30# Imagine when it changes. #

0:15:30 > 0:15:32..Calvin Harris and Skrillex.

0:15:32 > 0:15:34# It's more than being famous

0:15:34 > 0:15:37# More than the applause And more than any form of status. #

0:15:37 > 0:15:40I think Ellie's music is really accessible, it's fun,

0:15:40 > 0:15:43and she's got a really, really unusual voice.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46I think that's why so many people want to work with her.

0:15:50 > 0:15:54I'm giving Ellie two Ambo points for working hard to become

0:15:54 > 0:15:55pop's Miss In Demand.

0:15:55 > 0:16:00HE SINGS

0:16:00 > 0:16:04Meanwhile, after producing more music than is healthy for one man,

0:16:04 > 0:16:06Will's not exactly putting his feet up.

0:16:06 > 0:16:08Music isn't the only thing Will has created.

0:16:08 > 0:16:12He has his own fashion label and even invents gadgets, sort of.

0:16:13 > 0:16:16Like this camera attachment for your phone.

0:16:16 > 0:16:18And this...thing.

0:16:18 > 0:16:21You can print out a physical version of a wave form

0:16:21 > 0:16:23and make a bag out of it.

0:16:23 > 0:16:28Will, have an Ambo point for some out-there ideas.

0:16:28 > 0:16:30But that's not all, OK? Get this.

0:16:30 > 0:16:35In 2012, Will became the first artist ever to have a song

0:16:35 > 0:16:37broadcast from Mars.

0:16:37 > 0:16:41That's like your music being played on a whole other planet. No way.

0:16:41 > 0:16:42Way.

0:16:42 > 0:16:45# Yeah! #

0:16:45 > 0:16:49American space agency NASA asked Will to write a song to

0:16:49 > 0:16:52commemorate the Curiosity rover's mission to Mars.

0:16:52 > 0:16:57The song Reach For The Stars was uploaded in August, 2012, and, in

0:16:57 > 0:17:01a world first, was broadcast nearly 500 million kilometres

0:17:01 > 0:17:04through space all the way from Mars to Earth.

0:17:04 > 0:17:07# Let's reach for the stars

0:17:07 > 0:17:08# Reach for the stars. #

0:17:08 > 0:17:12And the people at NASA went ballistic!

0:17:12 > 0:17:13Well, sort of.

0:17:13 > 0:17:16# Reach for the stars. #

0:17:16 > 0:17:18For an out-of-this world achievement...

0:17:18 > 0:17:19Give it up for Will.i.am!

0:17:21 > 0:17:24That's three intergalactic Ambo points to you, sir.

0:17:24 > 0:17:27# Goodness gracious I can't seem to stop

0:17:27 > 0:17:29# Calling you up. #

0:17:29 > 0:17:32Will's on a different planet, but don't worry,

0:17:32 > 0:17:36when it comes to mixing with the stars, Ellie's right there with him.

0:17:37 > 0:17:41After rocketing onto the scene, suddenly, she was everywhere.

0:17:41 > 0:17:43Everything was going really well and, before she knew it,

0:17:43 > 0:17:46Ellie was kicking in front of some of the most famous people

0:17:46 > 0:17:48in the world - the Lobo family.

0:17:48 > 0:17:50No, even more famous.

0:17:50 > 0:17:54In 2011, Ellie was invited to the White House in America to

0:17:54 > 0:17:58sing for President Obama at the Christmas Lights ceremony.

0:17:58 > 0:18:00Ha, no biggie(!)

0:18:00 > 0:18:02It introduced the whole of America to Ellie.

0:18:02 > 0:18:04So, no surprise,

0:18:04 > 0:18:08her next single, What, blew into the US charts at number two.

0:18:08 > 0:18:11That's three presidential Ambo points.

0:18:11 > 0:18:13# You show the lights that stop me

0:18:13 > 0:18:15# Turn to stone

0:18:15 > 0:18:18# You shine it when I'm alone. #

0:18:18 > 0:18:21OK, so singing for the President of the United States

0:18:21 > 0:18:25in his home pad is pretty cool, but it gets better.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28In 2011, Ellie was asked to sing...

0:18:28 > 0:18:30At a wedding.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32Now, I know at first it doesn't sound too cool,

0:18:32 > 0:18:36but what if I told you the groom was William and the bride was Kate?

0:18:36 > 0:18:39Now, we don't actually have any footage from the event,

0:18:39 > 0:18:42but I imagine it went a little something like this.

0:18:42 > 0:18:45"William, what's up?"

0:18:45 > 0:18:48"OK, gather in, we have got a situation, code red."

0:18:48 > 0:18:51"Now, don't be upset, I forgot to book a wedding singer." "Say what?"

0:18:51 > 0:18:54"What are we going to do about this?" "I've got it!

0:18:54 > 0:18:57"We'll get... Ellie Goulding!"

0:18:57 > 0:19:00"Ah! William, you're a genius!" "I know.

0:19:00 > 0:19:02"I was just thinking, I listen to her all the time

0:19:02 > 0:19:04"when I'm in my helicopters.

0:19:04 > 0:19:06"JUST between us, I think Harry secretly likes her."

0:19:06 > 0:19:08"I'll text her right now."

0:19:08 > 0:19:09Doo-doo-doo.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11"Ah! No way!

0:19:11 > 0:19:15"I just got a message from Kate, and she wants me

0:19:15 > 0:19:17"to sing at the wedding? Better reply.

0:19:17 > 0:19:21"'Yes, totes, lock me in. OMG.

0:19:21 > 0:19:24"'Very excited.' Better go tell everyone the news. Mum!"

0:19:24 > 0:19:27# It's a little bit funny

0:19:27 > 0:19:31# This feeling inside. #

0:19:31 > 0:19:34And this is the classic Elton John song that Will

0:19:34 > 0:19:37and Kate choose for Ellie to perform for their first dance.

0:19:37 > 0:19:41Performing at the wedding of the century

0:19:41 > 0:19:44was just an incredible thing.

0:19:44 > 0:19:46I think people at the time thought, "What, Ellie Goulding?

0:19:46 > 0:19:48"That's a bit strange.

0:19:48 > 0:19:51"How come Will and Kate have picked her to perform?"

0:19:51 > 0:19:54But there is no doubt that that meant that the whole world

0:19:54 > 0:19:56suddenly knew who she was.

0:19:56 > 0:19:59# And you can tell everybody

0:19:59 > 0:20:01# This is your song... #

0:20:21 > 0:20:24worldwide as part of The Black Eyed Peas,

0:20:24 > 0:20:26but this Pop Slam is a solo head-to-head,

0:20:26 > 0:20:31so no points for those, I'm afraid. But don't worry, he still managed

0:20:31 > 0:20:33six million solo UK sales.

0:20:33 > 0:20:37# I feel stressed out I wanna let it go. #

0:20:37 > 0:20:40# Goodness gracious I can't seem to stop

0:20:50 > 0:20:54# Just to keep crawling to your arms. #

0:20:54 > 0:20:56Serious numbers that gained each artist

0:20:56 > 0:20:59three multiplatinum Ambo points.

0:20:59 > 0:21:01So what does that mean for the scores?

0:21:03 > 0:21:05Will now has 19 Ambo points,

0:21:05 > 0:21:08but Ellie has stolen the lead on 21.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10Don't agree? Get yourself online

0:21:47 > 0:21:50It is fair to say that there is no-one in pop with a style

0:21:50 > 0:21:52quite like Will.i.am.

0:21:52 > 0:21:54Throughout the years, we've seen him go

0:21:54 > 0:21:56from Goth casual to space chic, and

0:21:56 > 0:22:00right now he is rocking some of the coolest threads in the pop world.

0:22:00 > 0:22:03And I am about to meet the man who puts the thrill into Will.

0:22:04 > 0:22:08Ashton Hirota is one of LA's top celebrity designers.

0:22:08 > 0:22:12When Will needs a new outfit, he comes to Ashton.

0:22:21 > 0:22:22You'll be talking to him

0:22:22 > 0:22:24and then he's left the room and comes back and,

0:22:24 > 0:22:27"This is what we're going to do, this is what we are going to do!"

0:22:27 > 0:22:28Because he is so creative.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31And it is the most inspiring thing to have an artist that not

0:22:31 > 0:22:32only has ideas but good ideas.

0:22:32 > 0:22:36# They call me Will-A Stay so cool, I'm chilly

0:22:36 > 0:22:40# I done made that milli On the way to that billi. #

0:22:44 > 0:22:49to wear in the video for his 2013 single That Power, panic ensued.

0:22:49 > 0:22:52Cue an anxious phone call to Ashton, requesting he make shirts

0:22:52 > 0:22:57for Will and all his dancers for a video shoot in Japan.

0:22:58 > 0:22:59What was Ashton's reaction?

0:22:59 > 0:23:01"OK, cool, we'll do it, we'll do it."

0:23:01 > 0:23:04"OK, I leave in five days. "What? You leave in five days?

0:23:04 > 0:23:06"OK, let's get all your dancers dressed,

0:23:06 > 0:23:08"you dressed, all dressed."

0:23:08 > 0:23:11And with him, it's always short, last-minute things,

0:23:11 > 0:23:13but it is the most exciting. So that is how it happened for him.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15He saw it, he wanted it, we did it.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18# And oh

0:24:26 > 0:24:29For a unique fashion that is always keeping us guessing, that's

0:24:29 > 0:24:30four Ambo points, Will.

0:24:34 > 0:24:36While Will is turning his style up to 11,

0:24:36 > 0:24:38Ellie is staying true to her dressed-down roots.

0:24:38 > 0:24:41However, if there is an awards ceremony in town,

0:24:41 > 0:24:44she can definitely still bring it on the red carpet.

0:24:44 > 0:24:48# You know we can get away. #

0:24:48 > 0:24:51When it comes to style, there are definitely two Ellie Gouldings.

0:25:46 > 0:25:48# When everything's wrong

0:25:48 > 0:25:49# You make it right

0:25:49 > 0:25:51# I feel so high. #

0:25:51 > 0:25:54While Will is out there getting stuck in traffic on the freeway,

0:25:54 > 0:25:57Ellie is using some leg power to churn the miles.

0:25:57 > 0:26:00# I need your love. #

0:26:02 > 0:26:07So get this, Ellie runs six miles a day, every day, since she was 18.

0:26:55 > 0:26:58Let's find out what we have learned.

0:26:58 > 0:27:02We've watched Will go from hip-hop wannabe to global megastar.

0:27:02 > 0:27:04And Ellie has become such a big deal that she sang
