0:01:07 > 0:01:12Last time, the Safari 8 learnt a hard lesson about tracking leopards.

0:01:12 > 0:01:17If you're talking, we'll just leave. I don't want to hear a whisper.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21There was chaos in the kitchen as the team prepared a bush banquet.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24And the pressure was starting to show.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26- Nervous.- I can see that.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30I mucked up on the baboon cos I went off the baboon too early.

0:01:30 > 0:01:36Today, Ranger training ends with the Safari 8's biggest mission so far.

0:01:36 > 0:01:37You have to go in.

0:01:37 > 0:01:38- Where?- There.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41- Push in, push in.- Urgh!

0:01:41 > 0:01:45As the team set up camp, it all falls apart.

0:01:45 > 0:01:49You guys disappoint me. There's no leadership.

0:01:49 > 0:01:54- And the final challenge roles are revealed.- The head ranger will be...

0:01:54 > 0:01:56Oh, come on!

0:01:59 > 0:02:02It's 4am in Kruger,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04and the Safari 8 are fast asleep.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08But, not for long.

0:02:08 > 0:02:12It's the last day of their ranger training,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14and Rudi and Frankie, have decided it's time

0:02:14 > 0:02:16for a little military style discipline.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18With an early morning wake-up call.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21If you're not ready, you're not going.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Get your clothes on, get your backpack ready, so we can go.

0:02:24 > 0:02:25- You're joking?!- No.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29- We've got a big mission for you, today.- Ohh!

0:02:29 > 0:02:33The Safari 8 have been training to be rangers for a month.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36- So early starts shouldn't be a problem.- Morning, guys.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Time to get up, Tomas, Manya. Time to get up.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42I'm actually really annoyed because they said we'd get up at eight.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45And me and Manya were talking all night, thinking we'd have a lie in,

0:02:45 > 0:02:49and then they come and wake us up at half past four in the morning.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52Tent buddy, Manya, is a little more enthusiastic.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54I'm looking forward to today cos every time we get up early

0:02:54 > 0:02:58it's something exciting. I'm looking forward to finding out what it is.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00With the final challenge a day away,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03the rookies must start looking out for each other,

0:03:03 > 0:03:06- and working as a team.- Come out of your tent. Come on, Tomas.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08Come on, Tomas.

0:03:08 > 0:03:12And if this early morning exercise is anything to go by,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15- there's still a lot of room for improvement.- Let's move!

0:03:24 > 0:03:27It's an hours drive to the rendezvous point.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31So while some of the team catch up on some much needed sleep,

0:03:31 > 0:03:34the others try to work out what lies in store.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38So far, we haven't seen the leopard and the giraffe

0:03:38 > 0:03:40and the hippo, up close.

0:03:40 > 0:03:44I really wished it was an elephant capture, cos I really like elephants,

0:03:44 > 0:03:47and I'd really like to study more about elephants.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51And Ella just might be on to something.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54The Safari 8 have already come face-to-face with the buffalo...

0:03:57 > 0:03:59..rhino,

0:03:59 > 0:04:00and lion.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05But today, for the final part of their ranger training,

0:04:05 > 0:04:09the Safari 8 face a mammoth challenge.

0:04:11 > 0:04:15And flying in are the Kruger vets, who the Safari 8

0:04:16 > 0:04:19will spend the morning assisting, on an elephant research study.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22Heading up the team will be Dr Markus,

0:04:22 > 0:04:25one of South Africa's leading wildlife vets.

0:04:25 > 0:04:26How's it going?

0:04:26 > 0:04:28- Great!- Fantastic!

0:04:28 > 0:04:32OK, what we're going to do today, is show you and elephant darting.

0:04:32 > 0:04:34And you guys are going to touch an elephant.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38When I heard that we were going to dart one, I was thinking

0:04:38 > 0:04:40it's just...unbelievable!

0:04:40 > 0:04:42It's going to be this incredible experience

0:04:42 > 0:04:44that you just don't...you don't do.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47And just when Ella thinks it couldn't get any better...

0:04:47 > 0:04:52Today, we're going to give Ella a chance to test her leadership.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55OK, Ella, you're in charge of the group.

0:04:55 > 0:04:59OK? Check that everybody follows your orders. All right?

0:04:59 > 0:05:02All this is just a dream come true.

0:05:02 > 0:05:08# I'm so excited And I just can't hide it

0:05:08 > 0:05:13# I'm about to lose control And I think I like it... #

0:05:13 > 0:05:16If any proof were needed of her ele-loving credentials,

0:05:16 > 0:05:18just check out her bedroom, at home.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21I've got lots of elephants. They're my favourite animal.

0:05:21 > 0:05:23They're such magnificent creatures.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26And since being in South Africa,

0:05:26 > 0:05:29Ella's come nose-to-trunk at an elephant sanctuary,

0:05:29 > 0:05:33and tracked a wild elephant during ranger training.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35It was amazing. Really was just mind blowing.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38But, has all that prepared her for this?

0:05:41 > 0:05:45Darting an elephant from a helicopter allows the vets

0:05:45 > 0:05:48to get close enough to carry out this vital research.

0:05:48 > 0:05:51As Dr Markus takes to the skies,

0:05:51 > 0:05:54Rudi's got some instructions for team-leader, Ella.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56Markus will dart the elephant from the chopper.

0:05:56 > 0:05:59Very dangerous situation. When it drops,

0:05:59 > 0:06:02he'll tell me it's safe to move in, and then we'll move in.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07Come on! Come on! Come on!

0:06:07 > 0:06:11This elephant study is Ella's chance to prove to the mentors

0:06:11 > 0:06:15she's got what it takes to lead the team in the final challenge.

0:06:15 > 0:06:17Make sure we'll work as a team, talk to each other

0:06:17 > 0:06:20about what we're going to do and what we're thinking

0:06:20 > 0:06:24about what we're learning. I'll make sure that we're all tight

0:06:24 > 0:06:26and really safe. I don't want anybody getting hurt.

0:06:26 > 0:06:31Kruger may well be home to over 12,000 elephants

0:06:31 > 0:06:33but it covers an area the size of Wales.

0:06:33 > 0:06:37So Dr Markus is heading towards a likely elephant stomping ground.

0:06:37 > 0:06:41So if you come forward, this is going to be an open area,

0:06:41 > 0:06:44here on your right. Looks like we'll try here.

0:06:45 > 0:06:48In the world of elephants, bigger is better.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51With a lifespan of 70 years, elephants can grow

0:06:51 > 0:06:55to twice the height of a human. and weigh as much as a bus.

0:06:55 > 0:06:57And they've jumbo appetites to match,

0:06:57 > 0:07:00spending 16 hours a day eating.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03And all that food results in a lot of dung.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06One dollop every 15 minutes.

0:07:10 > 0:07:15Everyone's on the lookout and it's not long before Dr Markus

0:07:15 > 0:07:16spots a young bull elephant.

0:07:16 > 0:07:19They should have a visual, in the open area, now.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23Elephants have poor eyesight

0:07:23 > 0:07:26so the helicopter just looks like a large bird in the sky.

0:07:26 > 0:07:31Which is good news for Dr Markus as he needs to get within 25m

0:07:31 > 0:07:33to dart the elephant with the sedative.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41Dart's in, and it's gone off. OK, dart's in.

0:07:41 > 0:07:43OK, Rudes, you can come forward, mate.

0:07:43 > 0:07:48As the sleep-inducing drug takes effect, everyone moves in.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50They've just darted the animal now.

0:07:50 > 0:07:52It takes seven minutes for it to go down.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55Wild animals can be extremely dangerous,

0:07:55 > 0:07:58so everybody must approach with caution.

0:08:00 > 0:08:03Do you see it?

0:08:04 > 0:08:08The animal's down, you can come forwards a little bit.

0:08:09 > 0:08:13As the vets and rangers rush to check the animal's vital signs

0:08:13 > 0:08:17the Safari 8 wait anxiously in the game viewer.

0:08:17 > 0:08:19The young bull is out for the count.

0:08:19 > 0:08:20LOW RUMBLING

0:08:20 > 0:08:24Snoring, blissfully unaware of what's going on around him.

0:08:24 > 0:08:27It's now safe for the Safari 8 to approach.

0:08:27 > 0:08:29Their behaviour on this capture

0:08:29 > 0:08:32could decide which roles they will take in the final challenge.

0:08:32 > 0:08:34Is there any parts we should stay away from?

0:08:34 > 0:08:37No, it's fine. It's fast asleep.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39- Can we touch him?- Ya, go for it.

0:08:39 > 0:08:41This is the final part of their ranger training,

0:08:41 > 0:08:43so I'm expecting 100% from them.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46It's like the Flintstones, you know?

0:08:46 > 0:08:48The first thing the team need to do

0:08:48 > 0:08:52is place a twig in the elephant's trunk, to keep its airways open.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55You must sit here, and keep looking at his breathing.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58Made up of over 40,000 muscles,

0:08:58 > 0:09:01the trunk is the flexible nose in the animal kingdom.

0:09:01 > 0:09:05DEEP, REVERBERANT BREATH

0:09:05 > 0:09:10It's incredible, It's a wild bull and it's...it's right here! Look!

0:09:10 > 0:09:15I never thought that I would ever see anything so large,

0:09:15 > 0:09:19so beautiful, so hard, just anything like this in my life.

0:09:19 > 0:09:21You can feel this, like, hair.

0:09:21 > 0:09:24Yeah, cos it's a mammal, so it has to have hair.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Getting this close to a elephant

0:09:26 > 0:09:29is something very few people get to do.

0:09:29 > 0:09:31So this is truly an amazing moment for the team.

0:09:31 > 0:09:36Feels so magical, to just, I don't know, just...

0:09:36 > 0:09:39We touched elephants at the beginning, but these ones are wild

0:09:39 > 0:09:43- so it's really weird. - It's not even tame at all.

0:09:43 > 0:09:45It's like rock.

0:09:45 > 0:09:49The Safari 8 are here to assist the vets.

0:09:49 > 0:09:52Team leader, Ella, is quick to dish out the jobs.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54Ashleigh and Noma, down there.

0:09:54 > 0:09:58Hair analysis can give clues to diet and behaviour...

0:10:00 > 0:10:02It's hair is like wire.

0:10:02 > 0:10:06..so some research samples are collected from the elephant's tail.

0:10:06 > 0:10:10They also need to collect several blood samples for DNA research.

0:10:10 > 0:10:12See it coming, there? I've got three samples,

0:10:12 > 0:10:15- Somebody else can do another sample. - Sifiso,

0:10:15 > 0:10:16and then Tomas.

0:10:16 > 0:10:19And it's not just the elephant that's being tested.

0:10:19 > 0:10:21What do you guys know about elephant ears?

0:10:21 > 0:10:27When they're really hot they flap their ears so they can cool down.

0:10:27 > 0:10:31Correct. Elephants use their ears to cool down. They don't sweat.

0:10:31 > 0:10:35If you feel the ear, you have arteries and veins in the ear,

0:10:35 > 0:10:38and that's why you see them flap their ears when it's hot.

0:10:38 > 0:10:39We'll pull this out...

0:10:39 > 0:10:42While the team carry on with the samples,

0:10:42 > 0:10:44it's time to take the elephant's temperature.

0:10:44 > 0:10:47And there's only one way to do that.

0:10:47 > 0:10:48You have to go in.

0:10:48 > 0:10:50- Where?!- There.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53- That's big!- Ja, it is. Push it in.

0:10:53 > 0:10:55- Will it jump?- Push it in. Push in.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58And Caroline better keep her wits about her...

0:10:58 > 0:11:00Ooh, it's touching me!

0:11:00 > 0:11:03..as every day an elephant's gut produces enough methane gas

0:11:03 > 0:11:06to fill eight hot-air balloons.

0:11:06 > 0:11:07- 35.4.- OK, thank you.

0:11:07 > 0:11:10Everything is going according to plan.

0:11:10 > 0:11:13Then, just as Tomas is about to take his turn...

0:11:13 > 0:11:16OK, next blood sample.

0:11:16 > 0:11:17..he faints.

0:11:17 > 0:11:20Tomas! You OK?

0:11:20 > 0:11:22OK, sit down, with your head between you legs.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24Head between your legs. Tomas?

0:11:24 > 0:11:27You all right? You OK, Tomas?

0:11:27 > 0:11:30Tomas had a really strong reaction to seeing blood

0:11:30 > 0:11:34and he just, basically became pale and he just passed out.

0:11:34 > 0:11:35OK, stand still. Stand still.

0:11:35 > 0:11:39I've never fainted before, so it was quite a weird experience.

0:11:39 > 0:11:43I think it was the blood and I woke up quite early as well.

0:11:43 > 0:11:47You all right. OK, wait.

0:11:47 > 0:11:51While Rudi takes Tomas back to the game viewer, to rest,

0:11:51 > 0:11:52time is running out.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55So Ella helps give the elephant an injection to wake it up.

0:11:55 > 0:11:57Move back to the vehicles, please.

0:11:57 > 0:11:59Single file. Single file.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02With Tomas on the mend, the rest of the team join him

0:12:02 > 0:12:05to watch, as the elephant makes a textbook recovery...

0:12:05 > 0:12:07ELEPHANT GRUMBLES

0:12:07 > 0:12:09..and is quickly back on its feet.

0:12:12 > 0:12:16The Safari 8 kids are really impressing me at the moment.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18It's the final day of their ranger training,

0:12:18 > 0:12:21and they're really working as a team.

0:12:21 > 0:12:22Very pleased, well done.

0:12:22 > 0:12:25But, have Ella's leadership skills impressed the mentors?

0:12:25 > 0:12:28Ella is taking the leadership role seriously.

0:12:28 > 0:12:31We'll keep on looking at her throughout the day

0:12:31 > 0:12:34and then we'll see. There's other leaders also in the group.

0:12:34 > 0:12:37With all the team performing so well,

0:12:37 > 0:12:41choosing just one person to be head ranger is going to be a tough job.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47Still to come, with ranger training complete

0:12:47 > 0:12:49preparations for the final challenge begin.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52I am going to try very hard to impress Rudi and Frankie

0:12:52 > 0:12:54with my leadership skills.

0:12:54 > 0:12:57Teamwork, quickly becomes a distant memory...

0:12:58 > 0:13:01If we carry on like this, we won't do too well.

0:13:01 > 0:13:02We need to get our team together.

0:13:02 > 0:13:06and Rudi and Frankie's decisions don't please everyone.

0:13:06 > 0:13:09I'm really not happy with the job I was given.

0:13:09 > 0:13:12If there was any that I didn't want to do, it was that one.

0:13:18 > 0:13:21Over the next two days, the Safari 8 will need to put on

0:13:21 > 0:13:24the ultimate safari experience for their mystery celebrity guests.

0:13:26 > 0:13:30So, Rudi and Frankie have brought the team to where it all begins.

0:13:31 > 0:13:35And there's a lot to do before their guests arrive, in the morning.

0:13:37 > 0:13:40This is the site for your final challenge.

0:13:40 > 0:13:46We've only provided you with an electric fence, some tents and water.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49The rest is up to you. You need to pitch up tents for yourselves,

0:13:49 > 0:13:51for your guests and for me and Frankie.

0:13:51 > 0:13:55You need to figure out where to put the bathroom,

0:13:55 > 0:13:58figure out where to put the kitchen.

0:13:58 > 0:14:02You need to select tent sites. All by yourselves.

0:14:02 > 0:14:06Also, the roles for the final challenge has not been decided yet.

0:14:06 > 0:14:11So this is your last chance to impress us, so we can see

0:14:11 > 0:14:13who is going to do what.

0:14:13 > 0:14:16OK, off you go.

0:14:18 > 0:14:21The only way to get the new camp up and running, is to work as a team.

0:14:21 > 0:14:24And every team needs a strong leader.

0:14:24 > 0:14:27We should first discuss where we want everything to be,

0:14:27 > 0:14:30and then all decide who's going to do this and that.

0:14:30 > 0:14:34I'm going to try very hard to impress Rudi and Frankie.

0:14:34 > 0:14:36I hope I do impress them

0:14:36 > 0:14:38and I hope I do get the position and the role that I want.

0:14:38 > 0:14:41So, maybe if we all did two teams? Four and four?

0:14:41 > 0:14:46And we each put up all the tents, that would go really fast.

0:14:46 > 0:14:48Let's start setting the up then.

0:14:48 > 0:14:53With everyone wanting to take the lead, what could possibly go wrong?

0:14:54 > 0:14:55Pull it out.

0:14:55 > 0:14:57Good work, guys. Keep it up.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00It's not long before aspiring actress Ashleigh,

0:15:00 > 0:15:02quickly takes centre stage.

0:15:02 > 0:15:04Just figuring out where to put our tents.

0:15:04 > 0:15:07As soon as we lay them out flat, we'll be able to see what looks good

0:15:07 > 0:15:10and what doesn't, so we can swap it around.

0:15:10 > 0:15:13I think we can move this one this way a bit, move that one a bit forward,

0:15:13 > 0:15:15then they're surrounding each other.

0:15:15 > 0:15:18But is anyone impressing the mentors?

0:15:18 > 0:15:21Looking at Kushal, he came through the ranks

0:15:21 > 0:15:24these last couple of weeks. Actually impressed me a lot.

0:15:24 > 0:15:28OK, if we open this one here, we've got one more tent left.

0:15:28 > 0:15:30That means we're going to move the others.

0:15:30 > 0:15:31Nomalungelo is the same.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34- Very quiet in the beginning.- She's grown a lot.- She's grown a lot.

0:15:34 > 0:15:37We need to tie this in here, so...

0:15:37 > 0:15:41- And Manya, impressed us both...- Hmm. - ..from the beginning.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43This is important to him. I think he wants the...

0:15:43 > 0:15:44He wants the role.

0:15:49 > 0:15:51We've done a great job, on our second tent already.

0:15:54 > 0:15:59Ha-ha! Kushal's fallen over in the tent!

0:15:59 > 0:16:03Our tent didn't fall. Kushal fell in it. So...

0:16:03 > 0:16:05it's a work in progress, OK?

0:16:05 > 0:16:07As the tents go up...

0:16:07 > 0:16:08Oooh!

0:16:08 > 0:16:10..so do the stress levels.

0:16:10 > 0:16:13You guys need to hurry up. Those poles are bending too much.

0:16:15 > 0:16:17At first, as we started pitching our tents

0:16:17 > 0:16:19we thought we were doing really well.

0:16:19 > 0:16:21Everyone was trying their best...

0:16:21 > 0:16:23Guys, I can't do it if too many people crown round...

0:16:23 > 0:16:27..and then as we got to the last tent, everyone was screaming

0:16:27 > 0:16:31- and there was no chance for someone to lead the group.- Get on with it.

0:16:31 > 0:16:33Time's a wasting.

0:16:34 > 0:16:36Someone go help Ella, please, on that side.

0:16:36 > 0:16:39They are not listening. They are still just mucking about.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42If we carry on like this, we're not going to do too well.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44We need to get our teamwork together.

0:16:46 > 0:16:48With everyone talking, no-one is listening.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51There's only so much Rudi and Frankie can take.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53Stand still and listen.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57You guys disappoint me.

0:16:59 > 0:17:00There's no leadership here.

0:17:00 > 0:17:03Everybody shouting, to impress us.

0:17:03 > 0:17:05But nobody's working together.

0:17:05 > 0:17:06And Rudi's right.

0:17:06 > 0:17:09Throughout their training the Safari 8 have found teamwork

0:17:09 > 0:17:11the hardest lesson to learn.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14Especially when faced with a challenge.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16It's not a lion, and it's not this.

0:17:16 > 0:17:19To be honest with you, you guys did not work as a team.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22Can you help me? No...you're bending it the wrong way. No.

0:17:22 > 0:17:24Leave that one, let me finish this.

0:17:24 > 0:17:27They can't argue amongst themselves. They have to work as a team

0:17:29 > 0:17:33Otherwise, they are going to confuse the guests they are taking out.

0:17:39 > 0:17:42It's clear to the mentors the only way the Safari 8

0:17:42 > 0:17:45are going to work well as a team, is with a leader.

0:17:45 > 0:17:47Time for a team talk.

0:17:47 > 0:17:51Can any one of you eight tell me what is a leader?

0:17:51 > 0:17:54- Manya?- A leader is someone who takes charge of the situation

0:17:54 > 0:17:58and gets the people he's working with to work together as a team,

0:17:58 > 0:17:59and get the job done.

0:17:59 > 0:18:03If you are a leader, you talk, people listen.

0:18:03 > 0:18:06Not just everyone throws in ideas, and nothing gets done in the end.

0:18:06 > 0:18:11Whoever's chosen as leader, you guys need to listen to him or her.

0:18:11 > 0:18:14Something needs to happen. OK? We want you guys to succeed.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17You guys can do it. You've got it on you. All of you.

0:18:17 > 0:18:20If we don't work together as a team, there's no way we can do

0:18:20 > 0:18:24he final challenge. Up to this day, we've not been a team,

0:18:24 > 0:18:26and it's really worrying me.

0:18:26 > 0:18:29Challenge starts tomorrow. I see a lot of grim faces.

0:18:31 > 0:18:34If I was a guest, and I see all those glum faces...

0:18:34 > 0:18:36I would turn back and go home.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39..I need some smiles and some positiveness.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42I think I'd be disappointed if we failed the final challenge.

0:18:42 > 0:18:45We've worked so hard and put in so much effort,

0:18:45 > 0:18:49to get the results that I think we all deserve, would be really nice.

0:18:49 > 0:18:52- Are you guys positive?- Yes. - Do you think you can do it?- Yes.

0:18:52 > 0:18:55- Can you?- YES!- Yes, exactly.

0:19:02 > 0:19:05As well as mentoring the Safari 8, Rudi and Frankie

0:19:05 > 0:19:08have assessed their progress throughout their training.

0:19:11 > 0:19:15And they will select who takes on which role in the final challenge.

0:19:19 > 0:19:23But, before any decisions are made, the Safari 8 have one last chance

0:19:23 > 0:19:26to pitch for their dream role.

0:19:27 > 0:19:29First to take the hot seat is Manya.

0:19:32 > 0:19:36This is your last opportunity to tell us what you think you should be.

0:19:36 > 0:19:39- Go for it. - I think I should be head ranger.

0:19:39 > 0:19:43I've really worked hard in the last month, paid attention.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45I do enjoy being the leader of the group,

0:19:45 > 0:19:48and getting everyone to cooperate and manage the team.

0:19:48 > 0:19:50I really enjoy doing that.

0:19:50 > 0:19:53And Ashleigh's also eying up the top slot.

0:19:53 > 0:19:58In the beginning I kind of had Manya in mind, being my head ranger.

0:19:58 > 0:20:02Then when I saw the way he was acting today, or the days before,

0:20:02 > 0:20:06I got the feeling that he never pulled through, to be my leader.

0:20:06 > 0:20:13So then I thought of myself, in his shoes, and I really believe

0:20:13 > 0:20:16I have the confidence and the ability to help this team

0:20:16 > 0:20:20do really, really, really well for the final challenge.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23Next to make his case is Sifiso.

0:20:23 > 0:20:27Well, I see myself in the final challenge as a guide.

0:20:27 > 0:20:31I also thought about head ranger cos I always give a chance

0:20:31 > 0:20:33and listen to other people's opinion.

0:20:33 > 0:20:37So I think I will do a great job leading people.

0:20:37 > 0:20:39Then Ella puts in her pitch.

0:20:39 > 0:20:44It would be great to be head ranger. The opportunity would be excellent.

0:20:44 > 0:20:47But, tracking I love, that's REALLY exciting.

0:20:47 > 0:20:50When I see spoor, it just gives me this feeling of adrenaline

0:20:50 > 0:20:52and it makes me feel so relaxed

0:20:52 > 0:20:57cos then we've got this glimmer of hope that we could find this animal.

0:20:57 > 0:21:00And Kushal's got a dilemma.

0:21:00 > 0:21:03I'm split between head ranger and tracker.

0:21:03 > 0:21:05I like being a leader and stuff.

0:21:05 > 0:21:09I think tracker because I like looking at different spoor.

0:21:09 > 0:21:13Its like a hard job, but it's so fun, spotting everything around,

0:21:13 > 0:21:17seeing tracks, of just say, an elephant, that has gone through.

0:21:17 > 0:21:19That's why I really want to be a tracker.

0:21:19 > 0:21:23Then it's Tomas, who's only got one job in mind.

0:21:23 > 0:21:26I think I probably want to be hospitality.

0:21:26 > 0:21:29I think, because I'm a good entertainer.

0:21:29 > 0:21:30And when we were in the kitchen,

0:21:30 > 0:21:33I thought that I did the meat quite good.

0:21:33 > 0:21:36Nomalungelo is looking at the bigger picture.

0:21:36 > 0:21:40I like hospitality, I like being a guide,

0:21:40 > 0:21:42and maybe a head ranger.

0:21:42 > 0:21:44I like hospitality because

0:21:44 > 0:21:47when you get a triangle, you've got your base and your top.

0:21:47 > 0:21:51And with most of us, the way we view it, the head ranger is at the top

0:21:51 > 0:21:55and hospitality is at the bottom. And if you look at a triangle

0:21:55 > 0:21:58without the bottom or the top, you have nothing.

0:21:58 > 0:22:01Last in is Caroline, and she's not so sure.

0:22:01 > 0:22:05I'd like to do, obviously, the head ranger, the tracker and the guide.

0:22:05 > 0:22:11I think that was cos I felt the head ranger was the better-off person.

0:22:11 > 0:22:14The hospitality were the people you thought weren't the best people

0:22:14 > 0:22:17at the stuff...ranger people.

0:22:17 > 0:22:21Hospitality is not for the people we think can't do a proper job.

0:22:21 > 0:22:24Hospitality is very, very important in the final challenge.

0:22:24 > 0:22:28If the hospitality people mess it up,

0:22:28 > 0:22:31then the whole day can be ruined for the guest.

0:22:32 > 0:22:35They've all had their say.

0:22:35 > 0:22:36Manya,

0:22:36 > 0:22:38Ashleigh,

0:22:38 > 0:22:40Sifiso,

0:22:40 > 0:22:41Nomalungelo,

0:22:41 > 0:22:43Caroline,

0:22:43 > 0:22:45Ella,

0:22:45 > 0:22:48and Kushal all want the top job.

0:22:48 > 0:22:51But only one of them will get it.

0:22:54 > 0:22:58Finally, it's the moment of truth.

0:22:59 > 0:23:03Right, guys, after much deliberation between Frank and myself

0:23:03 > 0:23:06we've come up with the roles for each of you.

0:23:06 > 0:23:10Just to make it very clear to all of you, head ranger is someone

0:23:10 > 0:23:15who takes control. That person is the first one up in the morning,

0:23:15 > 0:23:16and the last one to go to bed.

0:23:16 > 0:23:21It all boils down to the lucky head ranger,

0:23:21 > 0:23:23whoever he or she might be.

0:23:25 > 0:23:28The head ranger will be...

0:23:36 > 0:23:38Don't do this!

0:23:41 > 0:23:46- Congratulations, Manya. - Well done, Manya.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49You will be taking lead of this squad. We felt that you had

0:23:49 > 0:23:54what it takes to become head ranger, so all the emphasis is on you, now.

0:23:54 > 0:23:58It was so amazing to be chosen as the head ranger. I'm so happy.

0:23:58 > 0:24:00I'll make sure the team wins the challenge.

0:24:00 > 0:24:03We have to, we've come this far, worked so hard.

0:24:03 > 0:24:06We can do it, just teamwork, working together and we'll do it.

0:24:06 > 0:24:09So, for the next roles, the guides.

0:24:09 > 0:24:12The guides are people that can communicate well.

0:24:12 > 0:24:16They need to know everything about what's happening out in the bush.

0:24:16 > 0:24:19They need to know information about animals,

0:24:19 > 0:24:21and the guides are the following...

0:24:24 > 0:24:25Oh, come on.

0:24:27 > 0:24:29Noma.

0:24:29 > 0:24:32Sifiso.

0:24:32 > 0:24:34Ashleigh.

0:24:34 > 0:24:37I'm really happy with my role

0:24:37 > 0:24:39because I know a lot about the animals

0:24:39 > 0:24:42and I can't wait to tell our guests all about them.

0:24:42 > 0:24:47OK, the trackers. Trackers need to know how to track animals,

0:24:47 > 0:24:51they need to know what the spoor looks like, how fresh it is.

0:24:51 > 0:24:54They need to know information, like the guides, about the animals.

0:24:54 > 0:24:57And the tracker team is...

0:24:57 > 0:24:59Ella...

0:25:01 > 0:25:04.and Kushal.

0:25:04 > 0:25:07I think being a tracker is a very important job.

0:25:07 > 0:25:12You have to find animals for your guest, or they won't see anything.

0:25:12 > 0:25:14It can be a difficult job, but extremely fun.

0:25:14 > 0:25:18So far, so good. Everyone's happy.

0:25:18 > 0:25:21but, with only two positions left in hospitality,

0:25:21 > 0:25:23is that all about to change?

0:25:23 > 0:25:26You guys are in charge of entertaining the guests.

0:25:26 > 0:25:29making sure their is sufficient food on the table,

0:25:29 > 0:25:33and all day-to-day runnings of this camp.

0:25:33 > 0:25:35Congratulations, Tomas.

0:25:37 > 0:25:39And then last but not least,

0:25:39 > 0:25:41Caroline.

0:25:41 > 0:25:46Really not happy with the job I was given. It was like,

0:25:46 > 0:25:49if there was anything that I didn't want to do, it was that.

0:25:49 > 0:25:51I really didn't want to do it.

0:25:52 > 0:25:55All right, guys, now that you all know what you are doing

0:25:55 > 0:25:57in the final challenge, good luck.

0:25:57 > 0:25:59- ALL:- Thank you.

0:25:59 > 0:26:03With the mystery celebrity guests arriving in the morning,

0:26:03 > 0:26:06newly appointed head ranger, Manya, takes charge.

0:26:06 > 0:26:09On the game-drive, we'll have two vehicles.

0:26:09 > 0:26:12one for the guests and the guides, at the back.

0:26:12 > 0:26:18Myself and the two trackers will go in the front and look for tracks

0:26:18 > 0:26:20and find pathways. You guys agree?

0:26:20 > 0:26:21ALL: Yes.

0:26:21 > 0:26:24OK, so let's go.

0:26:24 > 0:26:26With the trackers and guides organised,

0:26:26 > 0:26:29Manya checks on the hospitality team's progress.

0:26:29 > 0:26:34- This is the bathroom. - Ja, I think it's really nice.

0:26:34 > 0:26:39I like that it's shaded, and also it will stop the smell coming through.

0:26:39 > 0:26:42I just feel that I'm not involved enough.

0:26:42 > 0:26:46It's not the massivest job. I wanted something to do with the animals

0:26:46 > 0:26:49and something... a really exciting job.

0:26:49 > 0:26:53Just make sure they're always happy, they've got food, bedroom's tidy,

0:26:53 > 0:26:55the toilet's tidy.

0:26:55 > 0:26:58It sounds like we're getting turned into maids

0:26:58 > 0:27:02and that was one of the reasons why I didn't want to do this.

0:27:02 > 0:27:05Would you like me and Caroline to do...a dance?

0:27:05 > 0:27:09Yeah, that might be nice, cos it will be really fun, a nice laugh.

0:27:09 > 0:27:13Clearly Frankie and Rudy had a reason so we've just got to do our best,

0:27:13 > 0:27:15and work together, as a team.

0:27:15 > 0:27:19We have to work as a team, not eight individuals.

0:27:19 > 0:27:23As one. On team. Eight people together as one.

0:27:24 > 0:27:26Next time, on Safari 8.

0:27:26 > 0:27:31The final challenge gets underway as the two celebrity guests arrive.

0:27:33 > 0:27:35The team go in search of the Big Five.

0:27:35 > 0:27:38A bit worrying we've only seen one of the Big Five.

0:27:38 > 0:27:40An elephant, and it's already afternoon.

0:27:40 > 0:27:43And, will a last minute panic end in disaster?

0:27:43 > 0:27:47Is it possible we could have more time?
