0:00:05 > 0:00:07Woof woof!
0:00:07 > 0:00:09Woof woof!
0:00:09 > 0:00:12Woof woof!
0:00:12 > 0:00:14Woof woof!
0:00:16 > 0:00:17Woof!
0:00:21 > 0:00:26Hello, there. I'm old Jack and this is Salty.
0:00:26 > 0:00:29Salty loves living here with me
0:00:29 > 0:00:33and she often has adventures of her own.
0:00:33 > 0:00:36Are you sitting comfortably? Good.
0:00:36 > 0:00:40Then I'll tell you one of Salty's Waggy Tales.
0:00:44 > 0:00:48Once upon a twinkly time, Salty found a ball.
0:00:48 > 0:00:53It was hidden in a crumbly corner underneath some rocks.
0:00:53 > 0:00:58The ball that Salty found was small, it was a little squishy,
0:00:58 > 0:00:59and it was stuck.
0:00:59 > 0:01:03She pushed it with her nose and she rolled it with her paw,
0:01:03 > 0:01:05but she couldn't get it out.
0:01:05 > 0:01:10So she woofed. And the ball popped out of the crumbly corner
0:01:10 > 0:01:13and rolled off down the street.
0:01:13 > 0:01:18Now, Salty likes to chase balls and she was pretty sure that this
0:01:18 > 0:01:24ball wanted to play, so like a streak of lightning, she dashed after it.
0:01:24 > 0:01:29The ball rolled off between the lobster pots and Salty chased it.
0:01:29 > 0:01:33The ball rolled across the bridge and Salty chased it.
0:01:33 > 0:01:37The ball rolled down some wobbly, cobbly old steps -
0:01:37 > 0:01:41and there are a lot of steps in Staithes - and Salty chased it.
0:01:41 > 0:01:47The ball carried on rolling over the big steps and onto the beach.
0:01:47 > 0:01:49Salty came to a slithery stop
0:01:49 > 0:01:53and peeked over the edge of the harbour wall.
0:01:53 > 0:01:58And that's when she discovered something else about the ball.
0:01:58 > 0:02:01It was very, very bouncy.
0:02:01 > 0:02:02BOING!
0:02:02 > 0:02:07The ball was bouncing around from rock to rock. It wouldn't sit still.
0:02:07 > 0:02:10"Boing", it went. "Boing."
0:02:10 > 0:02:16Now you may remember that Salty was almost a biscuit-catching
0:02:16 > 0:02:19champion and she thought to herself,
0:02:19 > 0:02:22"If I can catch a biscuit whizzing through the air
0:02:22 > 0:02:26"I should be able to catch a silly old bouncy ball."
0:02:26 > 0:02:30So she raced down the big steps and onto the beach
0:02:30 > 0:02:35and there in the distance was the ball bouncing on the rocks and
0:02:35 > 0:02:37boinging on the boulders.
0:02:37 > 0:02:40Salty dashed over to catch the bouncy ball.
0:02:40 > 0:02:47She tried and tried and tried and tried, but that cheeky ball, it kept
0:02:47 > 0:02:51bouncing high in the air and whizzing past her nose.
0:02:51 > 0:02:56Eventually with a mighty boing the ball bounced
0:02:56 > 0:03:01so high in the air that Salty lost sight of it.
0:03:01 > 0:03:04She heard a distant splash.
0:03:04 > 0:03:06And then nothing.
0:03:06 > 0:03:08The ball was gone.
0:03:08 > 0:03:12Salty looked around but she couldn't see it anywhere.
0:03:12 > 0:03:15It had disappeared into one of the many,
0:03:15 > 0:03:19many rock pools that you can find on the beach in Staithes.
0:03:19 > 0:03:23Now, rock pools are funny things.
0:03:23 > 0:03:26Half the day they sit doing nothing
0:03:26 > 0:03:30and half the day the sea comes in and completely covers them.
0:03:30 > 0:03:33Salty realised that her bouncy ball
0:03:33 > 0:03:36might soon be covered up by the mighty sea.
0:03:36 > 0:03:41But if that happened, it would disappear for ever.
0:03:41 > 0:03:44But which rock pool was the bouncy ball in?
0:03:44 > 0:03:48There must be hundreds and hundreds of rock pools on the beach.
0:03:48 > 0:03:55She'd never find it. And then Salty had one of her bright ideas.
0:03:55 > 0:04:01She gave a quick "woof" just as she had done in the crumbly corner.
0:04:01 > 0:04:02Ha-ha-ha!
0:04:02 > 0:04:04What do you think happened?
0:04:04 > 0:04:06Yes, there was a distant boing
0:04:06 > 0:04:11and the ball popped up from behind a rock.
0:04:11 > 0:04:15Salty's woof had given it back its bounce.
0:04:15 > 0:04:18Salty skipped over the rocks and the barnacles
0:04:18 > 0:04:23and rescued the little ball before it could disappear again.
0:04:23 > 0:04:27And then she carried it proudly back across the beach
0:04:27 > 0:04:30so that everyone could see how clever she had been.
0:04:30 > 0:04:34She took the ball back to the crumbly corner where
0:04:34 > 0:04:37she knew it would be safe.
0:04:37 > 0:04:39And whenever they want to play together again
0:04:39 > 0:04:43she knows exactly where to find it.
0:04:43 > 0:04:47Clever Salty. She's the best dog in the world.
