0:00:21 > 0:00:26Ah, hello there. I'm Old Jack and this is Salty.

0:00:26 > 0:00:32Salty loves living here with me, and she often has adventures of her own.

0:00:32 > 0:00:37So, are you sitting comfortably? Good.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40Then I'll tell you one of Salty's waggy tales.

0:00:44 > 0:00:49Once upon a twinkly time, Salty had a toy rabbit called Squidgy.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51It was a very special rabbit.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54She paraded it all over Staithes,

0:00:54 > 0:00:57holding it proudly in her mouth, the way dogs do.

0:00:57 > 0:01:02One particular Sunday, Salty suddenly thought,

0:01:02 > 0:01:06"I haven't seen Squidgy for a while. I wonder where he is."

0:01:06 > 0:01:09So, she decided to go and look for him.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12Squidgy wasn't by the lobster pots.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Squidgy wasn't at the top of the big steps.

0:01:15 > 0:01:21And Squidgy wasn't on her favourite old rug outside Shelly's cafe.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24And then Salty remembered.

0:01:24 > 0:01:28She'd left Squidgy in one of the fishing boats.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31So, Salty dashed along the harbour side

0:01:31 > 0:01:34and over to where the boats lie waiting for the tide to come in.

0:01:34 > 0:01:38And sure enough, there was Squidgy.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42She carefully picked him up and had a little think.

0:01:42 > 0:01:47A boat wasn't a very safe place to keep her favourite toy rabbit.

0:01:47 > 0:01:51A fisherman could come along at any moment

0:01:51 > 0:01:54and take the boat far, far out to sea,

0:01:54 > 0:01:58and her lovely, squidgy rabbit could be lost for ever.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00There was no time to lose.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04Salty needed to find a safe place to keep Squidgy.

0:02:04 > 0:02:09Ha-ha, and she already had a very clever plan.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12She trotted further onto the beach.

0:02:12 > 0:02:16She sniffed around for a while until she found a good spot.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19And then she started to dig.

0:02:19 > 0:02:23She dug a hole large enough to put Squidgy in.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Then, she popped the rabbit neatly in the hole

0:02:26 > 0:02:30and carefully pushed the sand back.

0:02:30 > 0:02:34The ears stuck out a tiny bit so that she would be able to find it again.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37It was perfect!

0:02:37 > 0:02:41Salty then went to have a nap outside the Mermaid Cafe.

0:02:43 > 0:02:47And when she woke up, she heard a familiar sound.

0:02:47 > 0:02:52It was the sound of the sea whispering against the harbour wall,

0:02:52 > 0:02:55swish, swash, swish.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58She liked that sound.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01It made her want to jump around and play.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04And she wanted to play with Squidgy.

0:03:04 > 0:03:09But then Salty went down to the beach and made an awful discovery.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12There was no beach!

0:03:12 > 0:03:15The tide had come in and the mighty sea

0:03:15 > 0:03:19lay like a huge, green blanket over the harbour.

0:03:19 > 0:03:25Salty's rabbit was underneath the water somewhere, in a sandy hole.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26Ha-ha!

0:03:26 > 0:03:28And what did Salty do?

0:03:28 > 0:03:32Bing! She had one of her bright ideas.

0:03:32 > 0:03:38She decided she needed to have a word with the sea.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Now, Salty knew that you must always treat the sea

0:03:41 > 0:03:46with a lot of respect, because it can change its mood very quickly.

0:03:46 > 0:03:51So, she woofed one of her politest woofs.

0:03:51 > 0:03:57Luckily for Salty, the sea was feeling in a good mood today

0:03:57 > 0:04:00and it heard the polite woof.

0:04:00 > 0:04:07And with a huge, lazy roll it reached down, picked out Squidgy,

0:04:07 > 0:04:11and flopped him on the little piece of sand by the harbour wall.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14Ha! Salty was thrilled.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17She barked a happy, woofy "thank you"

0:04:17 > 0:04:21and raced down to the water's edge to pick up her Squidgy.

0:04:21 > 0:04:26Then, holding on to it tight, she dashed back up the steps

0:04:26 > 0:04:30and all the way back home to The Rainbow.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33And when Squidgy was washed and dried,

0:04:33 > 0:04:38Salty carefully put him in the safest place she knew.

0:04:38 > 0:04:39Her own basket.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41Ha-ha!

0:04:41 > 0:04:44Clever Salty. She's the best dog in the world.
