0:01:12 > 0:01:15- Got it!- Well done, Megan!

0:01:15 > 0:01:20Previously, four of the explorers brushed up their horse-riding skills

0:01:20 > 0:01:23in preparation for a major journey.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26They reckon that El Dorado is on this lake somewhere.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30But as they rode off in search of the legendary lost city,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32top rider Megan's horse bolted.

0:01:34 > 0:01:35Oh, my God!

0:01:35 > 0:01:37It was a bit scary, that's all.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40You were amazing and you did everything right.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44Meanwhile, 10,000 feet up, on Mount Roraima, the other three explorers

0:01:44 > 0:01:47were attempting to be the youngest to reach the furthest point,

0:01:47 > 0:01:50known as the prow. Nikita was soon moaning...

0:01:50 > 0:01:53I've never been so bored in my entire life.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56- ..and worse.- Oi!

0:01:56 > 0:01:59- Build that back up again. - That's so ridiculous.

0:01:59 > 0:02:03Blocking their way was a 200 foot wide ravine.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05- I can't!- Yes you can.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07After three hours of treacherous climbing

0:02:07 > 0:02:11they finally got to the other side.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Fantastic. Go and enjoy your summit.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17And as the rain lashed down, 14-year-old Michael

0:02:17 > 0:02:20and 12-year-olds, Jake and Nikita entered the record books -

0:02:20 > 0:02:23the first children ever to stand on the prow.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25CHEERING

0:02:25 > 0:02:28I think it's a massive achievement to get here.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31I'm really proud of myself and it's really exciting.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35It's mid-afternoon on Roraima,

0:02:35 > 0:02:38and there's no time to relax for the record-breaking team.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41Right, let's get out of here. Let's go.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44They've got several more challenging days ahead,

0:02:44 > 0:02:48retracing their steps all the way back off the mountain.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50The first obstacle is the treacherous ravine

0:02:50 > 0:02:54they tackled just a few hours ago in the pouring rain.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59From this side, a team of expert climbers have been able to rig

0:02:59 > 0:03:02a series of ropes for a much quicker route back.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07You've got a big ravine. And it drops off 80-90 feet.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10But literally about 30 feet that way

0:03:10 > 0:03:14is the sheer drop down the face of Roraima.

0:03:14 > 0:03:19The explorers will need to clip onto the rope and drag themselves across.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21Pretty scary...to see, like, 10,000 feet.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26That is a massive drop.

0:03:26 > 0:03:27Looks pretty fun.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30How can you find this fun?

0:03:30 > 0:03:32Nikita, you're going to go first, OK?

0:03:34 > 0:03:36I'm really cold, and it looks like I'm scared.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39But I'm really not scared, I'm really excited.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41There is not another young girl

0:03:41 > 0:03:44that's ever done this before on Mount Roraima.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51Walk down. Yeah. That's it. Well done.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55It takes a lot of guts to trust the rope 10,000 feet up.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58That's it, now you're hanging. That's it.

0:04:01 > 0:04:06Despite the dizzy-making drop, Nikita shows nerves of steel.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10Go on, Nikita!

0:04:10 > 0:04:14And she gets a real buzz from the crossing.

0:04:14 > 0:04:19It was amazing. Felt like, I dunno, felt like I was flying.

0:04:19 > 0:04:20Jake, go for it, mate.

0:04:23 > 0:04:27I was a bit nervous, like, going over the cliff and getting on the edge.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29But as soon as I got going - brilliant.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31Wow!

0:04:37 > 0:04:41It was really amazing to get out in the middle of nowhere

0:04:41 > 0:04:44and just hang there. Felt like a bird.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48I could just lay there and look around

0:04:48 > 0:04:51and I just enjoyed every single second of it.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53I'll always remember that.

0:04:56 > 0:04:59The team will spend the night on top of Roraima

0:04:59 > 0:05:01at the camp they left only this morning

0:05:01 > 0:05:04and, after some atrocious weather, everything is sodden.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07Ben, yours is running with water.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10- Look how much water fell in that amount of time.- No.

0:05:12 > 0:05:16Er, do you have to add to the puddle?

0:05:19 > 0:05:22- I feel like a giant flannel.- What?!

0:05:22 > 0:05:25A giant flannel, cos everything I'm wearing is wet.

0:05:25 > 0:05:29Nikita's got the right idea, she's gone to bed. She's in there

0:05:29 > 0:05:34steaming it up with her dinner, unlike dumb and dumber.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Just sit out here. It's absolutely soaking wet.

0:05:37 > 0:05:41But even the bone-chilling weather can't dampen their spirits

0:05:41 > 0:05:44after a day of record-breaking achievements.

0:05:44 > 0:05:48Today's been amazing, it's been one of the best days of my life.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50It's been really satisfying.

0:05:50 > 0:05:53I've never been the world's first or the world's best at anything,

0:05:53 > 0:05:57so it's the first time. Hopefully, there'll be loads more to come.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00That's amazing, that. I'm the youngest boy in the world

0:06:00 > 0:06:02to stand on the corner of the prow.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05It's so emotional, like, in a good way.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11Meanwhile, Polly's team are down in the lowlands of Guyana,

0:06:11 > 0:06:16camping by Lake Parime, where they hope to find the lost city of El Dorado.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19And it's a special wake up for young explorer Megan.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22THEY SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY

0:06:22 > 0:06:24I can't keep these lit!

0:06:24 > 0:06:28# Happy birthday to you. #

0:06:28 > 0:06:3114 today! Woo-hoo!

0:06:31 > 0:06:35Happy birthday. What a place to celebrate your 14th birthday.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38Right next to El Dorado lake.

0:06:38 > 0:06:42And I've got a lovely day of riding as well. Yeah.

0:06:42 > 0:06:45And there's a very special extra present.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49After two weeks away from her family, Megan gets a first phone call home.

0:06:49 > 0:06:51PHONE RINGS 'Hello.'

0:06:51 > 0:06:53Hello!

0:06:53 > 0:06:58'Hello, Megan. Happy birthday.'

0:06:58 > 0:07:00Thank you.

0:07:02 > 0:07:07- 'Don't cry, honey.'- I'm sorry, I haven't heard you for ages.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09'Where are you now, sweetheart?'

0:07:09 > 0:07:14You know El Dorado? We're by El Dorado lake.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17- I slept in a hammock, right next to it.- 'Wow!'

0:07:17 > 0:07:22Yesterday I went western riding and we're carrying on today as well.

0:07:22 > 0:07:28'Oh, my God! That's fantastic. Is it easy to do?'

0:07:28 > 0:07:32It's really different to how we ride back home but it's so nice.

0:07:32 > 0:07:36'It's a birthday you'll never forget, sweetheart.'

0:07:36 > 0:07:38I know I won't ever, ever forget this.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41'We're so proud of you and just keep going, have a lovely ride today.'

0:07:41 > 0:07:47- I will.- 'Bye, honey.' - Bye. Love you all.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50Thank you.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56Roraima has seen more torrential rain overnight

0:07:56 > 0:08:00and, as dawn breaks, it's just a few degrees above freezing.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04- How are you doing?- Getting wet.

0:08:04 > 0:08:08If you feel just a little bit damp you're doing well.

0:08:10 > 0:08:13Jake's so cold, he's in danger of getting hypothermia.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15It were raining last night.

0:08:15 > 0:08:18I got in my sleeping bag and it was soaked anyway.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21So...just soaked all over.

0:08:21 > 0:08:26It's just a horrible day and I just want to get going.

0:08:26 > 0:08:29You're going to have to put damp kit on, which is miserable

0:08:29 > 0:08:32It's going to be horrible, I know that.

0:08:32 > 0:08:36But you've got nothing else to wear. You will soon warm up.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39Oh, I'm cold.

0:08:39 > 0:08:43We're going to go at a pretty good lick to try and get our bodies warm.

0:08:43 > 0:08:45Let's get out of here. Yeah.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47You're tired but you don't know it.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50All right, let's get warm.

0:08:50 > 0:08:53The record-breaking team still have an epic journey

0:08:53 > 0:08:57to get back off the mountain, heading eight miles across the top

0:08:57 > 0:09:00before descending the steep ramp into the valley below.

0:09:00 > 0:09:01OK?

0:09:03 > 0:09:08# Consider yourself at home... #

0:09:08 > 0:09:13Despite the dreadful conditions, spirits are surprisingly high.

0:09:13 > 0:09:17Once we've got going, it's been good. I've really enjoyed the walk.

0:09:17 > 0:09:22But it's so boggy that my feet feel like they're in a swimming pool.

0:09:22 > 0:09:26I'm enjoying it, like the terrain and stuff. The rocks are amazing.

0:09:32 > 0:09:36When Sir Walter Raleigh sailed to Guyana to search for El Dorado,

0:09:36 > 0:09:41tribes-people constantly talked of Lake Parime as the location of the golden city.

0:09:41 > 0:09:45Maps of the time even highlighted El Dorado by the lake.

0:09:45 > 0:09:50According to Raleigh, "The tribe told me they gathered gold on its shores,

0:09:50 > 0:09:53"in grains as big as small stones".

0:09:53 > 0:09:57Unfortunately, before Raleigh's expedition could locate the lake,

0:09:57 > 0:09:59bad weather forced them to turn back.

0:10:03 > 0:10:09The Serious Explorers have done better than Raleigh in reaching the legendary lake.

0:10:09 > 0:10:13But sadly, there's not the slightest sign of the legendary city.

0:10:15 > 0:10:18- How are we doing, guys? - Badly.

0:10:18 > 0:10:21- Lily, lily, lily.- Water.

0:10:21 > 0:10:26It's a bit overgrown. Not easy.

0:10:26 > 0:10:30So, instead, they're going to see if they can find gold

0:10:30 > 0:10:34on Lake Parime's shore, just as Raleigh's journal predicted.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37Right, can we let Tommy show you the technique?

0:10:37 > 0:10:41A local cowboy demonstrates how to pan.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44You hold it top to bottom, right?

0:10:44 > 0:10:47With the pan full of earth, any gold should sink to the bottom.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50I think the trick is not to be too delicate. Just get in there.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53You want to take the big stuff out.

0:10:53 > 0:10:55- He's done that before.- Yeah.

0:10:56 > 0:10:59The explorers are keen to begin the quest for gold.

0:10:59 > 0:11:01It's quite exciting.

0:11:01 > 0:11:03We're bound to find something.

0:11:03 > 0:11:06Here is probably a good place to start.

0:11:06 > 0:11:08- You do it.- I want to do it.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11That's it, get in there. Stick your hand in there.

0:11:11 > 0:11:15That's it. Get rid of some of the bigger stuff.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18I'm being really careful because I want to find some gold.

0:11:18 > 0:11:22- They find it's far trickier than it looks. - You've got to be very patient

0:11:22 > 0:11:26and you're never sure if you've found something or not.

0:11:26 > 0:11:27Give it another sluice.

0:11:27 > 0:11:31I'm seeing something shiny in my pan. I'm not sure if it's gold but I hope it is.

0:11:31 > 0:11:34There's definitely something shiny in there.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37- Nothing.- No, nothing.

0:11:39 > 0:11:42Enthusiasm soon starts to wane.

0:11:42 > 0:11:46It's so tedious and you keep on doing the same thing over and over.

0:11:48 > 0:11:52And, before long, tempers start to fray.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55When you're going like that, the water's meant to be coming out.

0:11:55 > 0:11:59- Do what Megan's doing. - Do you want to come over here and check me out?

0:11:59 > 0:12:02I don't think he'll do much better, at the moment.

0:12:02 > 0:12:05- We're just trying to help. - It's not as easy as it looks.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07There's no point arguing.

0:12:07 > 0:12:12With no gold in sight, they throw in the towel in less than an hour.

0:12:12 > 0:12:17We're doing rubbishly and there's no gold at all. Nobody's found any.

0:12:19 > 0:12:21It doesn't take ten minutes, OK, to find gold.

0:12:21 > 0:12:23It takes time, it takes patience.

0:12:25 > 0:12:29The guys that sit and do this for weeks and weeks, they must...

0:12:29 > 0:12:33I've got so much respect for them now. They've such a tough job.

0:12:33 > 0:12:37I'd rather wear the gold than find it, to be honest.

0:12:38 > 0:12:43Back on Roraima, the prow team are tackling the ramp down the mountain,

0:12:43 > 0:12:46but Nikita is also finding things pretty tedious.

0:12:46 > 0:12:49I'm not enjoying the walk.

0:12:49 > 0:12:55I hate going down and uphill, they're the worst things ever and that's all we're doing.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58- Hurry up. - Oh, yeah, get on with it!

0:12:58 > 0:13:00- Go on.- I can't!

0:13:01 > 0:13:03LAUGHTER

0:13:03 > 0:13:05You idiot!

0:13:05 > 0:13:09Their overnight camp is still several hours away

0:13:09 > 0:13:12and Nikita is well and truly back in moaning mode.

0:13:12 > 0:13:15My knees are hurting.

0:13:15 > 0:13:18I can't be bothered to catch up with the others.

0:13:18 > 0:13:19I think I'm tired.

0:13:20 > 0:13:27It makes me feel frustrated because she's been lagging behind, moaning.

0:13:27 > 0:13:30Jake decides to go slow on the straight bits,

0:13:30 > 0:13:33then when we go uphill he decides to try and run up it or something.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36We're gradually building up speed and height.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39I'll get good pace towards it.

0:13:39 > 0:13:44- He's doing my head in.- No, I don't! - Yes, you do!

0:13:44 > 0:13:48I was right behind you so you started going faster on purpose.

0:13:48 > 0:13:52You do it every time. Every time I get behind you, you do it on purpose.

0:13:52 > 0:13:54I think it's pretty funny.

0:13:54 > 0:13:58They're just arguing about something ridiculous and stupid.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00You go faster on purpose.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03I'm just trying not to laugh.

0:14:03 > 0:14:05It makes no sense.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10Back near Lake Parime, Megan's birthday is about to continue

0:14:10 > 0:14:14with a treat beyond her wildest dreams.

0:14:14 > 0:14:22- This afternoon, we are going to go and find 100 head of cattle, OK? - Oh, God!

0:14:22 > 0:14:24We're going to round them up

0:14:24 > 0:14:27and we're going to drive them back to the ranch.

0:14:27 > 0:14:31Back home in the UK, Megan owns her own horse, called Chester,

0:14:31 > 0:14:37and she also works on her school farm, helping look after the cows.

0:14:37 > 0:14:43It's all a million miles from rounding up cattle, cowboy-style.

0:14:43 > 0:14:51I never thought I'd really herd cattle of that size on my birthday.

0:14:51 > 0:14:53The cattle have been grazing on the savanna,

0:14:53 > 0:14:58and they need driving more than four miles back to the ranch.

0:14:58 > 0:15:02Go out slightly left. See the cows are moving over left.

0:15:02 > 0:15:06- It's kind of like rounding up sheep. - Hey, hey, hey!

0:15:06 > 0:15:09They need to keep the cattle surrounded

0:15:09 > 0:15:11and make a lot of noise to keep them in line.

0:15:11 > 0:15:14THEY SHOUT

0:15:16 > 0:15:21There's quite a lot of escapee cows so you've got to be on the ball.

0:15:21 > 0:15:23It's hard work and it's very, very hot.

0:15:25 > 0:15:30Megan helps gives chase as one of the cows makes a break for it.

0:15:32 > 0:15:36I had to go sprint and try and get it back in the group. It's so fun!

0:15:36 > 0:15:40- It's chasing after a cow. It's amazing!- Good job, Megan.

0:15:49 > 0:15:53Oh, I love it. When I had to go get one back, it was so much fun.

0:15:53 > 0:15:56- I feel like a proper cowgirl. - Up to the left. Go on!

0:15:58 > 0:15:59Brilliant fun!

0:16:01 > 0:16:03Two hours into the cattle drive,

0:16:03 > 0:16:06Megan gets the ultimate vote of confidence in her riding ability.

0:16:08 > 0:16:11She's given the job of leading the whole herd.

0:16:13 > 0:16:16They said, "Megan, go in front. You're going to be the head."

0:16:16 > 0:16:19I was like, "What do I do in the head?"

0:16:19 > 0:16:23You had to go further enough away from the cows so that they didn't know you were a horse,

0:16:23 > 0:16:28so they thought you were a cow, but close enough that they knew they got to follow behind you.

0:16:28 > 0:16:30And just before they reach the ranch,

0:16:30 > 0:16:33Megan even helps lead the cattle through a river.

0:16:41 > 0:16:42He'll stand up. Hold on!

0:16:44 > 0:16:46Hold on, Sammie! Good girl.

0:16:48 > 0:16:50It was incredible to be able to do that.

0:16:50 > 0:16:55I've gone from just being a normal boy to a rootin', tootin' cowboy!

0:16:56 > 0:17:00I will never forget this birthday, ever, ever, ever.

0:17:00 > 0:17:03We've herded cattle, we've trotted through a river

0:17:03 > 0:17:06so, no, I'm never, ever going to forget this in my life.

0:17:09 > 0:17:13In the foothills of Roraima, Ben's team have finally made it to camp.

0:17:13 > 0:17:17- How are we feeling after today? - Pretty tired.

0:17:17 > 0:17:20And who was the most whingey person, this afternoon?

0:17:20 > 0:17:24- Kate!- The most whingey person, I think, was definitely Jake.

0:17:24 > 0:17:27You're having a laugh? What?!

0:17:27 > 0:17:31Let's vote for the most whingiest person this afternoon.

0:17:31 > 0:17:35Right, Michael, you're only allowed one vote.

0:17:35 > 0:17:36Nikita.

0:17:39 > 0:17:40You're buried.

0:17:41 > 0:17:45The two groups are about to get a first chance to talk to each other

0:17:45 > 0:17:47since they split four days ago.

0:17:47 > 0:17:52A satellite link-up has been set up between the two remote areas.

0:17:53 > 0:17:55Hello.

0:17:55 > 0:17:59The ranch team are anxious to know if Ben's group got to the prow.

0:17:59 > 0:18:03- Did you make it? - ALL: Yeah.- Whoo!

0:18:03 > 0:18:06I was the first girl in the world to reach the prow.

0:18:06 > 0:18:09Well done, Nikita.

0:18:09 > 0:18:11They must be well jealous.

0:18:11 > 0:18:14- How's your horse-riding been? - Brilliant.- Except for Josh.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16I am allergic to horses.

0:18:16 > 0:18:19THEY LAUGH

0:18:19 > 0:18:23- Who's the best horse-rider?- Megan. - No.- She's a natural.

0:18:23 > 0:18:28- We had showers and proper meals. - We had spag-bol.

0:18:28 > 0:18:31Spaghetti Bolognese and stew. How'd the noodles taste?

0:18:31 > 0:18:35All right. We've had them for seven nights in a row, so...

0:18:35 > 0:18:39- Nikita, did the boys look after you?- No.

0:18:39 > 0:18:45Sammie, just so you know, Nikita has taken over as the queen of whinging.

0:18:45 > 0:18:49- How'd that happen?- Constantly whinging about everything.

0:18:49 > 0:18:53I feel sorry for you, Nikita. You're with Ben, Jake and Michael -

0:18:53 > 0:18:58- the worst combination ever. - I know! I feel sorry for me too.

0:18:58 > 0:19:01We're going to have to go but, Megan,

0:19:01 > 0:19:05- can I just say a really massive happy birthday.- Thank you.

0:19:05 > 0:19:06Can't wait to see you.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08ALL: Bye.

0:19:10 > 0:19:11Oh!

0:19:11 > 0:19:14I can't wait to see them again cos I miss them all.

0:19:14 > 0:19:16I'm missing Sammie and Megan.

0:19:16 > 0:19:19I'm getting quite sick of being the only girl.

0:19:19 > 0:19:21It's the last day on the ranch

0:19:21 > 0:19:24and time to learn some more cowboy skills.

0:19:24 > 0:19:26Megan, that was brilliant!

0:19:28 > 0:19:30That's not bad.

0:19:32 > 0:19:37- Yes! She's got it! Good girl! - I got the cow!

0:19:37 > 0:19:41They'll be helping the local cowboys catch their calves

0:19:41 > 0:19:46so they can brand them, putting the mark of the ranch on each animal.

0:19:46 > 0:19:50The only way to do that is to lasso them,

0:19:50 > 0:19:54bring them to the ground, so you can do what you need to do.

0:19:54 > 0:19:59- I'm actually looking forward to trying this out. It's going to be quite fun.- Oh!

0:19:59 > 0:20:05I feel so sorry for them cos they're going to have something burning hot pressed against their bum.

0:20:05 > 0:20:10Who's going to go first? Megan, right, there you go.

0:20:10 > 0:20:14- This is going to be fun. - It's going to be good.

0:20:14 > 0:20:17- Oh, good effort! - You nearly had it there.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20I am determined to get that little one there.

0:20:21 > 0:20:23Good boy!

0:20:26 > 0:20:30Megan bravely holds her ground and her determination pays off.

0:20:32 > 0:20:34Go, Megan!

0:20:38 > 0:20:41Regan helps hold the calf for the branding.

0:20:43 > 0:20:46It's not actually as bad as I thought it would be.

0:20:46 > 0:20:49It's actually all right cos you know then that calf belongs to this

0:20:49 > 0:20:51and it won't get lost now.

0:21:01 > 0:21:05Josh volunteers to actually carry out the next branding.

0:21:06 > 0:21:11The cow hardly flinches at all. It's very quickly over and done with and the cow's happy enough.

0:21:11 > 0:21:16And, having seen the others, Sammie also decides to have a go.

0:21:18 > 0:21:20- Good girl!- Perfect!

0:21:20 > 0:21:22It didn't flinch, which helped.

0:21:22 > 0:21:26It didn't feel as if I was actually hurting anything, so it was OK.

0:21:26 > 0:21:30But the explorers may be less comfortable helping with the next task.

0:21:32 > 0:21:34What we've got to do next is pretty gruesome.

0:21:34 > 0:21:40- We need to neuter...- Oh! - ..the one-year-old males.

0:21:40 > 0:21:44It's a quick operation to remove the animal's testicles.

0:21:44 > 0:21:49The reason we're doing this, guys, is it keeps the males calm.

0:21:49 > 0:21:56When you're a boy, you kind of imagine something like that happening to you and it's not nice.

0:21:56 > 0:22:00It's a bit real, to be honest, and, as Regan says, it's a tiny bit awkward, so it is.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04Oh!

0:22:04 > 0:22:07The actual operation is carried out by an experienced cowboy

0:22:07 > 0:22:12but Regan volunteers to give the animal a jab to prevent infection.

0:22:12 > 0:22:16- Go, go, go.- Nice one.

0:22:16 > 0:22:20The final task is perhaps the most sobering of all.

0:22:20 > 0:22:24With the record-breaking Roraima team due to arrive later in the day,

0:22:24 > 0:22:27Polly's group want to make a special meal for them.

0:22:27 > 0:22:33They've had a really tough time so we're going to go and slaughter a cow. Yeah?

0:22:33 > 0:22:38- Happy! Oh, my goodness. - You're a bit strange that way.

0:22:38 > 0:22:42While Regan appears thrilled, Megan is more reflective.

0:22:42 > 0:22:45As someone who looks after cows back home,

0:22:45 > 0:22:47the thought of killing one is unsettling her.

0:22:47 > 0:22:50It'll probably be a bit emotional cos I do work on a farm.

0:22:50 > 0:22:56It probably affects me a bit more but I want to watch it as much as I can.

0:22:56 > 0:22:59It's important that anybody who eats meat

0:22:59 > 0:23:02sees this is where it comes from, this is how it's done.

0:23:02 > 0:23:06The cowboys slaughter the animal quickly and painlessly.

0:23:08 > 0:23:11Done. OK, see how quick that was?

0:23:11 > 0:23:15The great thing is, absolutely nothing is wasted.

0:23:15 > 0:23:19They use every single part of this animal.

0:23:19 > 0:23:23All but Megan help with the preparation of the cow.

0:23:23 > 0:23:26- Will you get involved a little bit later?- Yeah, I will later,

0:23:26 > 0:23:28- it's just when it still looks like a cow.- OK.

0:23:28 > 0:23:33It's basically now starting to look like a piece of meat,

0:23:33 > 0:23:34rather than a cow.

0:23:35 > 0:23:38Even so, Megan is getting more and more upset.

0:23:41 > 0:23:46- You seen enough, huh? Shall we take you away for bit?- Yes please.

0:23:46 > 0:23:50So expedition doctor Henry takes her back to the ranch.

0:23:50 > 0:23:54A few minutes ago, it was literally running around

0:23:54 > 0:23:56and now it's dead on the floor.

0:23:56 > 0:23:59It's not for the faint-hearted. Not at all.

0:23:59 > 0:24:01As Sammie's about to discover.

0:24:01 > 0:24:04Sammie, do you want to go round and just help?

0:24:04 > 0:24:05Grab it here.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10- Good, tight grip. That's its lung.- Oh, my God!

0:24:10 > 0:24:13It's absolutely disgusting.

0:24:13 > 0:24:17I just touched an animal's lungs. That is rank. Oh!

0:24:17 > 0:24:20But Regan is in his element.

0:24:20 > 0:24:24I'm enjoying this a bit too much, I think.

0:24:24 > 0:24:26I'm enjoying getting my own food from cow.

0:24:26 > 0:24:31MEGAN: I'm a bit annoyed with Regan. He's not respecting it.

0:24:31 > 0:24:35He's like, "Oh, we get to kill it!" He's taking the mick a bit, really.

0:24:35 > 0:24:39It shouldn't be done cos it's just went and died,

0:24:39 > 0:24:43you don't have to treat it like... I know it's an animal but still,

0:24:43 > 0:24:44you need to respect it.

0:24:44 > 0:24:47It widens my career choices - I'd be a good butcher.

0:24:47 > 0:24:53It's a race against time to get the meal prepared before Ben's team arrives.

0:24:56 > 0:24:59And finally, after six long days apart...

0:24:59 > 0:25:02- Hey, guys!- ..the teams are reunited.

0:25:05 > 0:25:07Oh! Hello, hello!

0:25:07 > 0:25:10You're looking like the true cowboy now.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13Congratulations, you're a proper mountain woman.

0:25:13 > 0:25:17It's really nice to be back with the girls. I missed them quite a lot, actually.

0:25:17 > 0:25:20Woah, that looks really nice!

0:25:20 > 0:25:26While the others catch up, Regan looks after the cooking on his own.

0:25:26 > 0:25:30But as night falls, the other boys mount a takeover.

0:25:30 > 0:25:35Regan's cooked it and it's, like, just off a spot of sun tan.

0:25:35 > 0:25:39- So, it's a bit bloody?- No, it's raw!

0:25:39 > 0:25:41I'm not feeling in the best of moods.

0:25:41 > 0:25:45I just feel that I've been quite nice to people,

0:25:45 > 0:25:49in every way, even when they've been fairly rude to me,

0:25:49 > 0:25:52and then they've just carried on being quite rude.

0:25:52 > 0:25:57- It's like a whole cow.- It is a whole cow! Well, it was this morning.

0:25:57 > 0:26:01That has been my favourite tea, so far.

0:26:01 > 0:26:05The meal's a great success, but Regan's nowhere to be seen.

0:26:05 > 0:26:08Regan's disappeared off to his hammock

0:26:08 > 0:26:11and I'm just worried that now everyone's back together,

0:26:11 > 0:26:14he's getting excluded from the rest of the team.

0:26:14 > 0:26:17I don't know what's wrong with Regan. I feel sorry for him

0:26:17 > 0:26:21cos we're all into the same stuff and Regan's not

0:26:21 > 0:26:25so it's kind of hard for him to get along with us.

0:26:25 > 0:26:31- Is that you, Regan?- Yeah. - We got dinner.- I'm not hungry.

0:26:31 > 0:26:37- What's wrong?- Nothing. I'm feeling a bit full.

0:26:37 > 0:26:40Not really that hungry. I'm just really tired.

0:26:40 > 0:26:43We've spent all that time doing it and it's ready.

0:26:43 > 0:26:46It's OK, I'd probably eat it all by myself anyway

0:26:46 > 0:26:50Polly also tries to persuade him to return.

0:26:50 > 0:26:54- Regan?- Yeah?- What's up, buddy?

0:26:54 > 0:26:56- I'm not feeling too good. - Not feeling great?

0:26:56 > 0:27:00- Are you happy the others are back? - Yeah.- You are?

0:27:00 > 0:27:04What I'm slightly worried about is you becoming separated from them.

0:27:04 > 0:27:06Let's go over, just for five minutes.

0:27:06 > 0:27:09If I come over in a minute...?

0:27:10 > 0:27:13While Regan does finally return to the camp fire,

0:27:13 > 0:27:15he still keeps himself to himself.

0:27:15 > 0:27:20With the expedition heading into a challenging jungle phase tomorrow,

0:27:20 > 0:27:22it's a real concern to the leaders.

0:27:22 > 0:27:24It's from the mountains to the jungle.

0:27:24 > 0:27:28There's going to be some incredibly tough new challenges for them.

0:27:28 > 0:27:33The jungle magnifies any weaknesses, any cracks, within the team

0:27:33 > 0:27:37and therefore they're going to have to pull together.

0:27:39 > 0:27:41Next time on Serious Explorers...

0:27:41 > 0:27:42Woah!

0:27:42 > 0:27:45..close encounters of the creature kind.

0:27:45 > 0:27:48- He's beautiful.- No, he's not.

0:27:48 > 0:27:50I'm getting out!

0:27:50 > 0:27:53And a major bust-up in jungle camp.

0:27:53 > 0:27:55No, Nikita does not have your head torch!
